Stopped off in Godstone on way to Gatwick and we were so pleased to find this cafe. Excellent full English breakfast & great cup of tea. Very welcoming with friendly & effective service. Thank you

Had breakfast this morning at this lovely little cafe. The food was delicious and served quickly. The staff were pleasant and the food is great value for money. If your looking for somewhere to have breakfast or lunch, give this place a visit.

Dropped in here after a long walk. Lovely warm and welcoming. It was busy at lunchtime and the manager offered to bring a table and chairs inside to accommodate us. Great food selection and staff were also open to making something not on the menu that we fancied. Great coffee and tea, nice and hot. Excellent value, best in the area. I’m looking forward to going back and trying some other options from the menu. Thank you to the staff for providing excellent friendly service on a cold winter day.

Came here on my own in between meetings and ordered the Set1 breakfast. Everything on the plate was really good quality and even had a flat white made fresh that was really good as well! Will definitely be back when I’m next in the area.

Went here today for lunch and found it very nice indeed. We ordered 2 bubble breakfasts and a burger and chips, all with drinks, which I can say they have a good selection of. The eggs were pretty much perfect, not burnt, cooked white and nice runny yolk, the mushrooms were sliced and cooked with butter in the griddle, yum and the bacon was soooo nice, not salty and not so thin you can see through it! The staff were friendly and cheerful, the cafe itself was clean, including the bathroom, and as soon as people left the plates were cleared and tables wiped down. All in all we were very impressed, we often visit the green rooms but I have to say I think this cafe serves better breakfasts, well for me it does anyway, will definitely be returning. The only downside is its rather small, not their fault of course but just be mindful if theres a few of you.

Just a cafe in a very busy location and clearly very popular with local builders and denizens alike. Parking is easy at the car park opposite and in good weather you can sit outside breathing in the fumes and watching dog walkers on the green. The menu is what you'd expect, the service was exceptional. The food was OK but I think there is room for improving the quality of the ingredients, my bacon was not 100% and butter was not generous on the toast. No issues with the price, very reasonable, I'd happily pay a little more to get a higher quality. Then again we have to assume that they know their market better than I do.

Breakfast was great, all cooked well and decent produce. Eggs great, half decent sausages, proper fried tomato and granary toast...but why for the love of God are cafes still serving up cheap vinegary ketchup, the stuff here is inedible, in line with the cheapest most sour stuff I’ve ever tasted. A decent named brand in catering sizes costs about 2p a serving, the stuff here will utterly ruin anything it’s put on, luckily I was suspicious of how runny it was and just dabbed a bit on the side of the plate. 5 star breakfast, -1 for the cheap sauces.

Fantastic cooked breakfast with tea or coffee, toast or bread included. 10 hungry golfers enjoyed a super good, hearty breakfast that was made with fresh, quality produce. Staff are excellent and made us very welcome and served us both quickly and with a smile. Thank you.

If you want a proper breakfast, in a proper cafe, with great service, then look no further. At £6 for an English breakfast with toast and coffee in Surrey you just can't go wrong!

Picking a place to meet an old workmate that is roughly equidistant from where you both live is probably easy when you live 10 miles apart...but not so easy when it’s 60 miles. You have to stab a pin in the map and then look nearby with no knowledge of the area really. The Old Forge Cafe in Godstone, on the Green, sounds calm and quiet and quaint. You imagine looking out over a cricket field or commonland whilst a couple of cyclists whizz by. I should have guessed that idyllic image would be shattered as Godstone is so close to the M25 and also has the A25 running through it. The cafe is practically surrounded by cars and trucks hammering down the roads. Any cyclist here would have to have a death wish. There are literally hundreds of cars parked everywhere too and you’re lucky if you find a place to park that doesn’t risk you losing a door mirror. Yes...Godstone a busy place. So is the Old Forge Cafe. People queue for a table and it seems a lot of people use it as meeting spot. They’re open from early morning only till 2pm and boy do they do some business in those hours. It’s quite a slick operation. Once you’ve ordered, you then find a table. The Drinks Guy brings you tea or coffee and soon after the waitress brings the food. This means a quick throughput at the counter. The grubs pretty good and at standard cafe prices. The breakfasts are not swimming in fat, the quality is not up to the higher class establishments but it’s fine. The tradesmen would not frequent the place if the portions weren’t right and the prices OK. My pal got caught in traffic on the M25 and only arrived at after 1pm. But we weren’t chivvied out dead on 2pm. In fact we stayed chatting till quarter to 3 though they did clear tables and sweep up around us. The staff were friendly, chatty and helpful despite the hectically busy environment. They did really well. Good food, good service and a handy spot near the M25. Just leave loads of time to find somewhere to park and don’t expect a quiet country cafe on the green. Well worth a visit.

All I wanted was one egg. No, couldn’t do that, the menu board said two eggs and that’s what they were going to charge me! Would deviate from the board at all and we’re actually quite rude about it. How pathetic. So I was being charged double in effect. My husband had a cooked breakfast, typical cafe fodder, cheap high bread content sausages etc. Fine if that’s what you want and expect, after all it is a cafe, and caters for the working man/woman with decor to match. Did themselves a dis service as I ended up not eating as didn’t want to pay £3 for an egg!

This is the best place around to get a good cooked breakfast - better than Priory Farm, Knights Oxted and any other pretender to the crown. The service/people are excellent and the food is cracking and always arrives piping hot.

If you feel like really tasty simple good food this is the place to visit-their ham egg & chips is the best ever-my only complaint is that it is not open for longer hours & not on Saturdays nor Sundays-tea/coffee just right-a perfect stop for a super meal & break-it’s always busy-I loved it ..

Good variety of meals/snacks etc reasonably priced and large portions. Very friendly staff, patient and polite. Enjoyed the food which is fresh and well prepared, good value for money and always busy which is a good sign of a place worth eating at.

Went for lunch, but was disappointed that they had run out of pies, even though it was only just after noon. With a fairly limited lunch menu, this was a little surprising. What we had was good food, served with a smile and at a reasonable price.

Visited this cafe for a late breakfast with friends. What a gem!! The menu has set breakfast options or you can build your own. Be prepared to wait as everything is cooked to order - your patience will be rewarded. The food is delicious, beautifully cooked and piping hot. The service is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

I’ve eaten at this cafe a good couple of times now and never had a problem with the food, the parking is a bit hard out front, however there is a bigger car park just across the road. The cafe does get busy and you can’t always get a seat, worst when weather is bad but if it’s nice and dry and warm you can sit outside over looking the Gostone Green.

Decided to come to the Old Forge cafe due to the Green rooms cafe being closed on a Wednesday and we had a lovely light lunch. Baguettes were delicious, friendly service and reasonable prices. Does get very busy though but luckily someone was just leaving a table as we arrived at 12:30. Would definitely go again and recommend to others.

Really good breakfast even though the sausage they serve is in my mind a dinner sausage rather than a plan pork sausage it is very tasty. Often have a takeaway lunch and have never been disappointed with the taste or portion size. Well worth a visit

I regularly meet old friends here for breakfast and cannot believe how fantastic the food is. The staff are very cheerful. It is continually full, which speaks for itself.

My husband and I popped in randomly for breakfast during a long roadtrip so glad we did great food, great prices and great people. They accept cards and there is loads of free parking nearby. The place is light and airy overlooking the village green: a real feel of spring!

A great little cafe offering a variety of dishes, cakes, lunch, breakfast and brunch. The quality of the food is excellent as is the service and the variety of breads and combinations for cooked dishes. It is well priced. I often get my lunch baguette here.

I belong to a walking group comprising members of a male voice choir with which I sing. As is the way of these things, most of us are getting on a little. We try to stage a 5-6 mile countryside walk every month or so, starting at a pub (where we can leave our cars), resting at another pub (our half way point) and finishing at the original pub, where we usually enjoy a meal. For our winter solstice walk, we parked our cars at The Bell in Godstone but, rather than gather there before trekking off, we gathered at the Old Forge Cafe instead.The morning was chilly and misty / grey, but the cafe was bustling with life, every one of its dozen or so tables full. As customers left, so their places were taken immediately by others arriving, with everybody in good humour; which made for a welcoming atmosphere. The usual range of cafe fare was on offer, but I limited myself to a bacon sandwich and a cup of hot chocolate. Both went down a treat; and I was especially pleased that the chocolate was good, as so often this can be disappointing. I regard the quality of an establishment's hot chocolate as a guide to its overall quality (much as good pillows and towels are indicative of a good B&B); and the Old Forge did not disappoint.The staff (both "front of house" and in the galley) were friendly, with two of the young ladies dealing with a spillage with exceptional good humour. Notwithstanding the throng of customers, service was swift.

Great place to grab a breakfast and a cuppa if you are working locally, or passing through. Parking is tricky in Godstone but you can find parking either on the opposite side from the Cafe in the Pay and Display or strike it lucky outside the cafe. Great selection of choices and the staff are supremely efficient and friendly. A good mix of cyclists in lycra, builders in dusty clothes, and regulars who can't resist the breakfast.

Always a good breakfast, not greasy, seems to be good quality ingredients and the prices are reasonable. The cake display is always tempting too!

I have been going in the old forge for a few years now, but im not sure what they have changed but the food wasn't its usual standard - very basic, no butter on the jacket potato and the side salad was a poor excuse!

Best place in Godstone for a fry up. Food is always of a high standard and the staff are always willing to help. Would recommend to anyone.

Great,busy little cafe that does fantastic English breakfasts. Although we had about 4 people in the queue ahead of us, we only waited 10 for our order.

Travelling through Godstone en-route to East Grinstead for work on a weekly basis it has now become my routine to give ClacketLane Services a miss and stop off at the Old Forge instead to pick up a bacon bap and coffee take away. The baps are generous in size crammed full of perfectly cooked back bacon. The coffee has a great taste too. Most customers eating in are tradespeople who know when they're onto a good thing. Service is efficient and polite. Workman's cafes simply don't come any better than this.

Just fab place for breakfast not greasy great for hangover. Shame not open sundays could find fault in the food keep up the good work

It's been a while since I was in The Old Forge, but it is an excellent cafe, great food, friendly staff, the only downside is it can often be busy, so you have to pick your moment!

For a full English breakfast at a good price, this is just perfect. I visited with my two teenage children on a Saturday morning and it did not disapoint. Good quality sausages set the tone - this is a cafe but with a high standard and attention to detail. The room is bright and full of a broad mix of people from builders enjoying breakfast before work, to ramblers passing through. Good value - will go back!

We use the Old Forge regularly as all the meals served there are very good and the service is great. Also ideal as it is very close to the M25 junction 6.

Always pop in every now and again. The only place I would ever go for a fry up. Last time I went, there was an incident with a very rude man, which was handled by the staff excellently. Hasn't put me off going back though, never had a problem with food and it seems to get better every time I go. :-)

This is more than a cafe ! Superb location overlooking The Green and pond. The food is truly delicious and amazing portions. We were there for lunch but people were still having a full English breakfast which looked superb. The omelet salad and fries were great. Must not forget the perfect coffee. Lovely village and nice walks . Make sure you go between 7 am and 2 30pm as they close to prepare for the next day and early start.

The old Forge is our favorite breakfast spot... You get traditional caff fare at reasonable prices ; much better value than many other cafes around the area. It is very popular with two distinct groups of clientele depending on the time of day. Very early in the morning the place is full of builders ETA filling up for the day and after 9:30 the retired and family groups come in for a more leisurely brunch. The cafe has a wide range of set meals if you can't decide what you want and the deli side does a nice range of deli type savouries

Everything is cooked to order but it is a basic caf. Better than average range on the menu.If you are hungry then their range of Pies with peas/beans and chips is a good meal and do ask for a jug of gravey to go with it it is so good!Always full and closes at three so breakfast and lunch onlySo a basic cafe with good food is what you want then give it a try!

I have been here before but not for a few years. Returned today - great brunch for a really great price, very good value. Efficient and friendly, popular with local regulars, drop ins and trade - Porsche next to old motorbike next to van! Sandwiches to order, fixed meals, omelettes, baked potatoes whole range of breakfasts/brunch. Godstone is a small village but this place is popular. Very limited parking but there are two car parks on Godstone green opposite a short and very pleasant stroll away (100m or less) complete with traditional duck pond. I'm going to be having breakfast here on a regular basis - I live just a few miles away. The full name is the 'The Old Forge Café Deli'.

I can't recommend this place highly enough! I wish it was closer to where I live and if it opened on Sunday's that would be the icing on the cake. Great food, great service and consistently good quality.

Working locally, I sometimes pop in to the Old Forge either for a breakfast, or at lunchtime for a baguette (but not usually both!)Their "Buster Breakfast" represents superb value for money at just £5.95 including 2 rashers of bacon, 2 fried eggs, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown, baked beans, half a tomato, fried slice and buttered slice of toast and a cup of tea (or coffee) to wash it down with.The restaurant itself is a little cramped - especially during busy periods - but this only goes to demonstrate the popularity of the place. It's always busy!The staff are friendly, the place is clean and you don't have to wait long for your food.There are places to park but it's on the one-way system so sometimes it can be a little tricky but at least you can walk off a few of the tasty calories you've just consumed if you have to park nearby instead of right outside!

This is by far the best cafe for miles always clean and presentable and the food for a cafe is superb the team are also smashing always friendly and helpful often you are unable to get a seat as sooooo popular shame they don't open Sunday !!!

My husband Colin stayed in godstone on business.the old forge was down the road from his hotel he called in on 2 occasions and found the service and food was off a very high standard.He had the regular breakfast which was well worth £4-95 and served by a very pleasant girl. He highly recommends this gem of a cafe to all visiting the area just off junction 6 on the m25 .He would not esitatate to go back if in the area againWe wish all the staff at the old forge cafe a merry Christmas and a happy new year

I spotted this place when looking for a quick bite before joining the motorway. The food was very good and excellent value. My visit was slightly spoiled by a very noisy child but that's not the café's fault and I'll visit again as this was just bad luck. The café is excellent.

I have never been disappointed with the food or service here, it is always fresh and hot.......I do wish though that it was a bit bigger, as I could not get in the other day, due to the queue..

My son, husband and I always go in here for a treat.We love the breakfast's in here.Never change your sausages as they are the best.I even get my sister from crawley travelling up just for the breakfast.She agrees out of this world. Love the staff in here to. Even bring a umbrella out to u if it starts raining when your outside.Keep the service up your a credit to Godstone.

We popped into The Old Forge Cafe for lunch with pretty low expectations of badly prepared sandwiches on cheap bread with very low cost fillings and were pleasantly surprised. It is actually rather good! The sandwiches were very good and the value was excellent! Well worth a visit for lunch.

This is the kind of place that is disappearing, a proper cafe serving proper breakfasts ( Lunches too) They take great care over the preparation, the eggs are perfect, as are the grilled tomatoes and the sausages are actually tasty!This is all served with a smile in a sunny, airy and spotlessly clean environment and the prices are very reasonable.
