We have visited The Old Boathouse twice in last few days for a couple of alcoholic beverages. Very friendly and welcoming family team. Lovely riverside setting, seating overlooking the quay. A bonus with the sun coming out. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Lovely view, nice beer and nice chunky chips but… The pizza for £9.50 was ridiculously small and certainly not the nicest. From reading the other reviews, my suggestion would be to stick to the scones and panini etc (although we did not try) - Avoid the pizza - you will feel cheated ! Probably won’t returning which is such a shame!

Popped in for a cuppa and decided to treat ourselves to a scone with jam and cream. Service was so quick and friendly. Good strong cuppa in a teapot for two and the scones were amazing. So fresh and fluffy and light. With the strawberry jam (on first of course) and the thick clotted cream they were absolute heaven on a plate.

Bumped into a very nice lady on our coastal walk who told us to try Gibson’s ice cream as it was the best , so we stopped off here to do just that . The ice cream and drinks we had were excellent, however the service and organisation was woeful, we sat down and asked if we needed to order at the counter inside or did they come to the table ? And was told it’s table service but the menu is on the board at the front of the cafe , which fair enough so I went to look st the menu , then waited an age for some one to come and take our order , which was basically one girl who had the solitary iPad to take orders , pen and paper obviously a thing of the past despite a lad taking orders right outside the shop using pen and paper and serving people who had only just sat down whilst we and now three other tables were still waiting to order , eventually the girl took our order and I said to my wife , i’m Not convinced she will get that right , we ordered one pink rose lemonade , one pint of rattlers cider and two x 3 scoops of ice cream ( she didn’t know what flavours they had so I said any three random ones will do ) , the drinks arrived followed by one x 3 scoops of ice cream which was very nice but it would have been nice to have one each , so ice cream lovely, service leaves a lot to be desired, heaven knows what they will be like when it gets real it busy

Don’t bother. Four of us visited today with a view to support a small business on the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme. The business is registered and showing on the .gov restaurant finder, which we checked before going in. We placed our order and my other half paid. I asked him what the cost was and it seemed unusually high considering it was supposed to have been 50% off.At first we thought let’s not question this, however on principle decided to query the amount. I received a shrugged shoulder type response from the female behind the counter so a male behind the counter came over and I repeated myself asking whether they were on the scheme and if so, why we had not received a discount. He responded abruptly that their till hadn’t been programmed to give a discount. In regards to food, this was average. The carrot cake was dry and we ordered a cream tea with two scones and only one arrived. I also noticed that tables were not fully sanitised between customers. I decided not to complain about these matters and just speak to them about not applying the discount.Overall, the fact that we hadn’t been given the required discount was not appropriately addressed. Surely any business can handle inputting a discount on their till? This reflected the overall poor level of service.

We always stop off at The Old Boathouse for a few drinks and lunch when we are visiting Looe. Unfortunately it didn’t feel as Covid secure as other places we have visited this week. I appreciate that it is difficult here to manage the occupation of the outside tables due to the passing footfall and the tables they have on the other side of the road, but think it could have been managed slightly better by perhaps having one of the members of staff purely watching for table changes and then sanitising accordingly. I cleaned our own table having found one whilst my husband went inside to place our order, and when our drinks were brought out still no-one offered to sanitise it when they served us. It’s still a lovely spot for a drink but due to how busy the quayside is perhaps the managing of the occupying of the tables needs a rethink whilst the pandemic is still with us

My husband and four legged friend sat on the quay here for a coffee in the glorious bank holiday weather. In fact we ended staying longer than anticipated. Perfectly located, swift service and a lovely menu of drinks/sandwiches/cakes. Very popular place and perfect to chill and watch the the world go by. Lovely!!

Stopped for a coffee and cake as they have outside tables next to the Quay, disappointed that you couldn't get a bacon sandwich and although the cakes were ok not home made and very limited choice. Could be a gold mine if they extended the menu slightly, everyone was using it while waiting to go out on boat trips

We called in for afternoon tea and were not disappointed. For around £12 we had 8 sandwiches half cheese and half ham. Scone with cream and jam and two toffee cakes and chocolate muffin. Washed down with a cappuccino and a pot of tea. All served on a lovely stand. There was so much we couldn’t eat it all and took the cake home. If you have tea rather than coffee it is £11 something.

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
