We had the seasonal tasting menu and loved it. Matt and the team work very had to put amazing dishes out and keep guests happy out front

It was my first visit here for lunch yesterday and I can honestly say I was not disappointed! After a little while, it was a difficult decision, soo many yummy choices on the menu, I went for the House burger with Oak Smoked Cheddar and it was absolutely delicious😋 My friend ordered The Big Breakfast burger (no photo of that, sorry) but it was huge and delicious!! Lovely atmosphere, very attentive staff, look forward to visiting again, check it out!

Went here for Sunday lunch with friends. The sea bass starter was delicious! Steak pie, roast beef, and roast chicken were lovely. There were plenty of extra vegetables on the table. The fruit crumble was very disappointing. The topping wasn't crumbley, it was soft. There was a scoop of ice cream on the crumble and a small pot of custard on the side. There was an extra chicken lunch on our bill, but that was soon rectified. This hasn't put us off going again, as the food is really good. Waiting staff are good. Quirky decor.

Could not fault this place at all, food was perfect and tasted amazing, first time here and certainly won’t be the last, I was with a group of 8 and we all said the same, food and staff amazing 5*

Best meal out in a long time. Couldn’t fault it for quality and service and the atmosphere got better during the evening (we had an early booking). The food was definitely the star of the show, and we think we can cook. We should have done this over a week ago and have now forgotten the name of the lovely front of house guy. We’ll be back 👏👏

Great place, great food. It's on the expensive side of Carlisle grub, but you are getting an amazingly cooked meal and a nice local.

Great cocktails, fabulous choice and different selection. The interior really stands out and this makes this a super start to a grand night out.

A group of 5 of us ate here on both days we were visiting Carlisle. It was near Xmas their vegetarian Wellington was amazing as was the beef. The burger share platters were unbelievable and the desserts were to die for. Thanks to Matt, Will and Harry for a warm welcome, amazing food and excellent service.

Visited the old bank today for Christmas work do. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was quite busy yet the staff were still very attentive. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Sat down at 8 got first course at 8.45. Then got 2nd course at 9.45. Ordered drinks which never arrived. Staff vaping behind the bar. The kitchen thought steak was roast beef and chips? Just really poor from start to finish. Surprising because they have a good rep but i wouldn't go back after that visit

Food was excellent as was the atmosphere in the restaurant. Although it was busy service was relatively quick and our food came within 20 mins. The only issue was when we ordered our food, our waitress seemed uninterested and gave one word answers when we asked about certain dishes on the menu. Apart from that I would have given 5 stars..

Went here as we had been recommended it as a great place. Unfortunately this was not our experience. It started fine and we ordered a bottle of white wine. Before this arrived we were abruptly asked to move table. I was a bit disgruntled mainly by the way we were asked but we moved and didn't think any more of it. Next our white wine came which was put down on the table without a word from the waiter. When we went to pour it we found the bottle was warm. We then waited for probably about 25 minutes without anyone coming to take an order. By this point we were fed up and left. Entirely disapointed

Attended this evening (Sept 2023) after reading the reviews from other sites. We arrived on time and were seated. Me and my husband were then moved with no apology or explanation to a different table, we ordered white wine which was near enough slammed on our table with no care and it was room temperature. Finally we were left to wait for 30+ minutes with no one coming to take our order before we got fed up and hungry and decided to waste no more time and leave. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

They catered for over 30 of us the food was amazing and the service was brilliant, thanks for a great night to all the team at The Old Bank.

Can't fault this place. They fitted us in as walk-ins on a Saturday evening. Food was banging, service was great, enjoyed looking at all the decor. We'll be back!

I love this place! The food was absolutely spectacular. We went for Sunday dinner which is 2 courses of 3 choices. You can do starter and main or main and dessert. We were traveling through but for any who are visiting in the future, if you go for Sunday dinner (which I highly recommend) and are traveling with another person I suggest one of you get the starter and the other dessert and then split those between you. The starter portion would have been considered a main meal portion in other restaurants. Plus the dinner was massive with two veggies on the side. My husband commented “I am finally served a meal with enough gravy” and good god the gravy was delicious. He got the beef, I the chicken, and our daughter the fish and chips. The decor was fun and quirky. Every time I thought I had seen every detail then I noticed something new. This is a must stop restaurant.

The old bank is the best restaurant in Carlisle the food has a twist and the menu is a little different it's our favourite restaurant and go everytime we are in Carlisle it's beautiful.

Wednesday night grill is a must !!!

Probably one the best restaurants in Carlisle, good quality food, great service, make sure you leave room for dessert.

We had the cumberland sausage and lasagne bites starters, and bass and pork platter mains... Beautiful quality food, in a very intimate environment... thoroughly enjoyed and recommend the experience..

The food is absolutely gorgeous here. We don't drink so the mock tails were fab. It can get noisy on a weekend so we could hardly hear each other. The decor is so pretty. The staff could do with a bit of umph to them. We would go back though as the food is beautiful.

We called in on Friday lunchtime it was very busy young Alex behind the bar found us a table for lunch very efficient chap and very accommodating food was amazing definitely on our list to return.

Excellent food as always. Friendly staff , great atmosphere. Cajun crusted chicken breast, stuffed with pepperoni red pesto, cheddar cheese sauce. Coated in cajun breadcrumbs, veg and arrabiata sauce . Double cooked chips.

Amazing food....amazing. The flavours and presentation is fantastic. The service was good but a bit more personality wouldn't have gone a miss. The decor was beautiful with a relaxing atmosphere. We had virgin cocktails and the lilted tilted was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.

Great little hidden gem. Super food, prepared and presented well. Good service and atmosphere with a quirky decor. Not a huge amount of seating, so recommend booking to get a table.

Sunday afternoon as a couple 2.04.23 - disappointing we wanted scotch egg starter and beef pie unfortunately the restaurant had run out of both. The waiting on staff were not very attentive. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive on both occasions when we ordered them. Food was average as what we wanted had sold out we ordered nachos and ham for starters and then a house beef burger and a chicken burger. The waffle fries these came with had far too much seasoning. It was a real disappointment we paid £79.69 for poor service and unfortunately very average food and I will sum the visit up as a very lack lustre experience.

I spent some time trying to find a cute little restaurant in Carlisle ... and what a little gem did I stumble upon. This place is stunning. The interior design is a dream ... I could spend hours upon hours happily admiring everything. The cocktails were beautiful and delicious. The food .... Lord help me! My taste buds were in heaven. We had the cod with bubble and squeak and pea veloute and the venison. Honestly, who's the chef ? I need to marry him or her. I'm in a food coma now. Someone needs to relocate this little gem of a restaurant to Newcastle so I can just pop in every day. Also, the staff ❤️❤️❤️❤️ so friendly and welcoming. This visit has been the highlight of my week.

Sunday lunch was lovely today. Big portions and lots of fresh veg. The pork and chorizo hash starter was very good, I would have that gain as a main.

For my first visit to The Old Bank, I was impressed despite it being a bit of a hectic occasion… I was here as part of a stag party so had pre-booked what we were having to eat (more on that later) Firstly, we were sat by the door as soon as you go in so I didn’t get to see much of the building apart from the first room as you enter but I think this place is actually quite large from what I could see. The decor is the first thing that hits you as you walk in, there’s colour, ornaments and interesting tidbits in every nook and cranny! We had to go to the bar to order our drinks - I’m not sure if this is just because there was so many of us or if this is standard in The Old Bank, it definitely made things easier for our party as we were paying separately for everything but it would be a bit annoying on something intimate like a date night - There was also a bit of noise from glass being thrown away at the bar but it wasn’t anything crazy or overly annoying, just loud when it happened. The food arrived quickly, I ordered the OB southern fried chicken kebab with BBQ crinkle fries, sriracha coleslaw and “OB House Gravy” The BBQ crinkle fries were absolutely divine, I’d return just for another portion of them! The chicken looked great and was really crispy (just how I like it), it just slightly lacked in flavour for me unfortunately, it needed a bit more seasoning for the taste to live up to how it looked. The OB House Gravy was lovely, the chicken was much more flavoursome after dipping it in this, there was plenty of it too… I didn’t have to ask for more which is always good. I wasn’t overly keen on the coleslaw but I don’t like sriracha sauce so it was never going to be my favourite - I imagine it’s a lovely concoction for anyone who likes the two! The staff all seemed friendly and they were on hand if we needed anything whilst juggling all their other guests at the same time. I’ll definitely return on a quieter occasion to fully experience The Old Bank, I think my partner will really enjoy the place. I highly recommend The Old Bank to anyone looking for somewhere in the city centre which is a bit quirky with a good menu, friendly staff, oh and super comfortable seats!

Fantastic bottomless brunch food was amazing. Drinks service was a bit slow at first but we seemed to be the last table to order but the brunch menu was amazing we all really enjoyed it.

Me and my partner went in on the off chance on Friday evening. The staff where very friendly and welcoming. The food was out of this world very filling and delicious. The decor was very quirky which I personally love. Will definitely go back if I'm back in Carlisle.

Booked in for a sunday lunch whilst up in Carlisle for the races. We both chose the pork belly, followed by cheesecake and sticky toffee biscof desserts. All this plus a bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio came to just £60. £20 each for 2 courses of food of this quality is great value. The food was unbelievably good. It's clear that The Old Bank has a genuine chef who knows his trade, as opposed to a cook just heating things up. The welcome we received upon arrival and the service throughout were first class. If you're a foodie then you must give this place a try. Would recommend pre booking a table.

Lovely brunch and lunch meals here. Dog friendly throughout morning and lunch service and our little dachshund enjoyed his visit. We've been a few times and will continue.

Great food and good service. Nice pub with a good atmosphere. Took the kids and they accommodated them well. Free kids meals at the moment which is great.

So, we were looking forward to celebrating a family meal at the restaurant for 8 of us. We arrived at 07:30, front of house were good taking orders for drinks then food after about 10-15mins. Only 3 starters ordered and 8 main meals. All going well, but we ended up waiting until 20:55 until all our meals had been served! Not sure if they were understaffed in the kitchen but we have eaten here before and not experienced this long wait before. The restaurant was not busy. We had to complain about the sirloin steak as there was an issue with the amount of fat on it compared to the meat. The front of house were kind enough to agree and knocked this off the bill. Overall not the best experience, maybe just one of those nights but willing to give it another go as we have not had this on previous visits.

Lovely decor, lovely food, lovely drinks. My friend and I popped in on the off chance of getting a table, we were in luck. 😁 Had the Maple and Malt Glazed Ham. It was about an inch thick and just fell apart when cutting it, beautiful. The chips were double cooked nice and crunchy on the outside and seasoned perfecty. Had a bottle of Folkington's cloudy apple to wash things down, this was very refreshing on a warm summer day. Will deffo be going back to work my way through everything on the scummy menu. Thanks to all the staff for a great service too.

Very nice food. However, at 3 minutes to 8 o’clock we were informed they needed our table back at 8 o’clock. We had too leave our drinks and pay our bill. Very bad customer service wouldn’t recommend.

This restaurant called us on Saturday night to tell us the 730pm reservation for Sunday that we were ABLE TO BOOK ONLINE wasn't valid as they close at 630pm and could we move our reservation to 630pm? We said sure no problem, even though we were hiking Hadrian's Wall Path, and wasn't sure we could make it. We arrived to find out that the KITCHEN CLOSED AT 630PM AND THEY COULDN'T SERVE US!!! WHY CHANGE THE RESERVATION TO THAT TIME THEN!

Great food that's well worth waiting for

Beautiful place, food was gorgeous.

Nice enough, but not sure I would go back in a rush. The food didn't blow my socks off, it was nothing special, just ok.I did go for the biggest burger they had, but it was definitely a case of quantity of quality. Chips were waaaaaaaaaay over seasoned and meat was on dry side. Staff are friendly. Clean. It cost £40 for 2 pints and 2 of these burgers.

Wonderful atmosphere, stunning food and friendly staff

Very disappointed, not with the food or the service but with the fact we had just finished our puddings when we were told we had ten minutes to leave the table. We had spent a lot of money on our lunch and weren't told either when we booked the table or when we ordered our food that there were time restrictions, I'm just pleased we didn't order starters which we quite often do when we eat out, most of our party still had drinks to finish which they tried to clear away.

Me and a Friend both got a lamb steak dinner each it was absolutely unbelievable, then followed by getting two desserts, honeycomb cheese cake and sticky toffee biscoff pudding, they were 11/10, best Sunday dinner in carlisle

Amazing food and a great atmosphere. Great selection of gluten free food which is what drew me as a coeliac. I just wish the waiting staff was more confident when handling allergies so I could feel less worried about the food. But other than that can no fault
