The Oasis in St Albans

Went for an iftar meal. Great food, great service and fairly priced.

Visited this place passing through town. I was looking for something quick to eat so I ordered the lamb shish wrap for just under a tenner. I had to spit out 4 pieces of the lamb which was just pure gristle, I'm not sure what cut of lamb it was but my last bite had a small bone in it. I also specified no onions and it was loaded with red onion. I won't be eating from here again, it's a real shame because the place looks good. Disappointed.

Lovely food, huge portions and really reasonable prices especially the lunch menu. A local favourite. And the staff are always really friendly and accommodating.

One of my all time favourites, food never disappoints

For several years, this place has consistently exceeded my expectations. The Arabic restaurant offers delicious and perfectly cooked mixed grill meats along with a variety of other authentic Arab dishes. I adore the spot for its genuine Middle Eastern decor and cuisine.

Lovely little restaurant, decorated beautifully in Mediterranean style. Very delicious food. In starters hummus is always favourite. For tge main meal we ordered a pizza and Oasis platter of 2 with rice which was enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. At the end when we ordered tea, baklava was served with it which was on the house. Their clay oven and diffetent decore makes it more attractive. Their kitchen is open and visible from the dining hall where you can see your yood cooking. I would love to come here again and again

The food presentation is good but precooked and reheated, service is bad and the shop looks nice.

Friendly service, no booze which was fine. Food ok. Nothing exceptional or memorable. Best dish was prawns starter which had a bit of spice. Went mid week and was pretty quiet.

The food is COLD by the time it gets to you. This is either if you pick it up yourself or you try to get delivery. JUST EAT takes easily an hour to be delivered by which time it is freezing cold. Oasis dont really care and say its not their problem. Sadly it is because I really like this place but I also dont like cold food that has been sitting around. :(

I travel out of my way to come here and it's always on point. Only reason I give it low secure is there is little or no customer service skills here from the young girl working at the counter. She needs to going a training course

Had a nice experience at Oasis St Albans. Food fresh, tasty and affordable. Sells no alcohol but has a few mocktails to choose from. Will definitely go back.

This was a takeaway made up of their family mixed grill and oasis special to feed 6. We ordered tge day before for a specific collection - perfect. Awesome food and introduced a few people to this delight. All gone by the evening

The food at Oasis is absolutely fantastic! The top-notch service and reasonable prices make it a standout choice. The ambiance and atmosphere on the high street are truly enjoyable. It's a place I love going back to, where I can indulge in delicious food while experiencing the best environment. Highly recommended!

The food here is wonderful particularly the grills- would recommend trying out. I have been a few times and the service is on the slower side (so don't go in a rush) but the food is worth it!

Ordered a chicken shawarma with a orange juice food was nice and the staff was friendly as well. The food came at the right temperature and the way they make there fries is very well cooked which is nice.

This place was 45 min ride for us. Service was friendly and warm. Food was as expected from a Moroccan restaurant. Not enough bread provided with the cold mix starters. Music was a bit too loud for my taste. Found it hard to hear people's conversations. Table space was a bit small for the dishes. Found a mosque right next door to pray maghrib.

Food is absolutely delicious; a solid 5/5. Service is a bit haphazard because the waiters are clearly very inexperienced, e.g if you ask for say a fork, a coke, and a menu it’s take 10 minutes because three separate trips would be made rather than just one with all three items :-)

Delicious Middle Eastern food in a pleasant atmosphere at a reasonable price. We also enjoy the arabic music. No alcoholic drinks.

Cannot mistake their food ever. Consistently cooked very well and the prices show that the owners of the place care about the community and want to thrive here. And I'm sure that's why they are thriving ... Because there not mugging everyone off Iike 80% of other business in this rich City. Hats off to you Oasis 🤠

It was okay, not poor, but not outstanding either. I think the sheeh kebab needs more working on and needs to be more dense. Food was average. Will try again to make sure that it is a 3* and not nothing more

Been to the oasis a couple of times, the food is amazing, staff are so friendly, can't do enough for you Its a really laid back atmosphere and the food is fresh, takes a little time to cook to perfection, if you want fast food go to Macdonalds

Delicious Moroccan and Lebanese fusion food. Everything was delicious in particular the Moroccan Sausage starter and Lamb Tangine main. Small and cosy place, beautiful decor and ambience and the waitress was highly attentive. highly recommend.

Been here a few times for various reasons and hasn't disappointed. Many would turn away at the fact they don't serve alcoholic beverages but don't let that put you off. The Oasis more than makes up for this in the quality and presentation of the food. The menu has an excellent mix of Middle Eastern fare from hummus to tagines. For many of my visits, we have opted to get the Oasis Special Mixed Grill (see the image) which if you're a meat eater is the perfect remedy. It comes with a great selection of Lamb and Chicken cooked in various ways served beautifully on a platter with salad and your choice of chips and rice. The meat is well seasoned and the chips crisp and delicious, a true delight! In terms of smaller plates, the selection of cold starters which are some dips (hummus, labneh and babba ganoush) served with freshly baked pitta bread is the perfect way to whet ones appetite. Everything here is so moreish. One time we tried the walnut stuffed pickled aubergines which were out of this world and highly recommend. Summarising, the food is great and they have many unique dishes you may not find in your usual Mediterranean/middle eastern restaurant. They also have a fully sized wood fired pizza oven which can make exceptional pizzas and middle eastern flat bread dishes. The service here is what you'd expect, you feel looked after and the food arrives in good time. You don't need to lift much of a finger here. It is also worth noting that this place has a wonderfully delightful interior with a large water feature in the centre of it all. Feels like you're in a Moroccan coffee house! It is worth noting that this place does an excellent job of blending A La Carte dining with 'small plates' sharing style dining. You can do both! So if you're in the mood to share, get the mixed grill and dips, if you're not, get a Tagine or one of the main meal dishes. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Friendly staff. Lovely restaurant with authentic decor and furniture. That's just about it. Food lacks flavour. 3 out of 4 dishes tasted of nothing. Arayas was burnt like it was cremated and the hot meze (Batata Harra) was a luke warm, even cold. My main meal came in minutes yet the wife's main took 30mins by which I had finished my food staring at an empty plate. Drinks were a premium but tasted like overdiluted cordial. Shame really as the restaurant looked promising.

Normally good service but ordered a pizza tonight and had issues with the delivery. Oasis blame just eat and just eat blame oasis. Long story short the pizza went 26 mins in the wrong direction. After discussions with the driver and restaurant it was agreed that the pizza would go back and a fresh one cooked and delivered. Delivery arrived and it was the same pizza reheated and burned. The pizza had chicken on it but reheating it didnt seem to bother oasis. They have offered a refund by why did they not just make a fresh pizza as agreed. Really dissapionted and wont use them again.

Poor service and long wait. Food was raw. Chips weren’t fresh and were reheated. Took back food to get a refund, they refused. Their policy is no refunds allowed unless manager is present. Food and service was very disappointing. Avoid!

Really good value for money. Very tasty food and caters for vegetarians and carnivores. The service is excellent too.

I have never had a bad meal here in my life. The food is incredible with meals that’ll melt in your mouth whilst leaving you pleasantly satiated instead of bloated and stuffy. The customer service is at best charming, and at worst very polite. The prices are very reasonable especially compared to the CONSIDERABLE portion sizes (which are about x1.5 - x3 the size of other restaurants for a cheaper price). And to top it all off, parking is also incredibly easy to find! 10/10 couldn’t get any better if you tried!

It was just okay. No flavour at all, just bland food really. The staff are very friendly and helpful & the interior is fresh & clean but the food was a let down I'm afraid.

Came to the shop yesterday to have morrocon food as usual expecting the good quality I usually had in the past. First the lamb in the lamb tajin was cold when I told the waitress she gave me a wiered look as if I am insulting her. Then they heated the food again the same one. I tried eating it the lamb was hard and uncooked or old. So I was not able to eat. My friends food was good. When the waitress came to collect the food she didn't care that my food was untouched I informed her about the quality of the food she didn't even say a word and looked away. She came back to clean the table careless about the fact and was really rude and unprofessional. However the other waitor came he asked what happened I explained then the chief came to apologise and he was very professional too. I understand that with food specially lamp tajin sometimes the meet is old or won't be cooked well mistakes happen and I didn't want to leave a review at all as I know the resturant has great food usually. But the way the waitress dealt with us and was rude and unprofessional made me leave this review. I am not coming back until I know that waitress is not working there anymore. Also I can see from the latest reviews that others are facing same unprofessional treatment there. It's really unfortunate that such a nice place gets such bad staff.

The Place looks nice I can say is the Oasis! But the stuff slow and not good in the service! They doing big mess around we waiting so long time to clean off the tabel and pick up the order! The food not was to special it was unsalted and taste less. We order a Mix grill for main, I never had this bad experience before with this type of foods. The chicken and a lamb was totally dry and over cooked. The chips was okey and a drink! Thank you so much I not coming next time!!!!

Service was terrible. Please allow at least 30-50mins to be served starters. Waiter hardly spoke English and had a difficult time taking our order and we had to ask them for cutlery - she would bring back only a knife, then a fork etc. Food also came individually so half the table was awkwardly empty. Decor was good. Food was fresh and good - just the service let it down. Very unfortunate :(

What a find this has been in St Albans. The food is excellent and I would recommend this place to everyone. Please note they do not serve alcohol.

The food was excellent and gluten free options were available. The decor is a representation of a middle eastern establishment with a fountain. The service could have been a little more faster and more cheerful but otherwise it was a good evening.

I had a very good dining experience with THE OASIS. Its truly Mediterranean and middle east type of restaurant. Dishes which I have ordered were really delicious and made in authentic middle east style. Prices of dishes were reasonable and not too expensive. Ambience reflects middle east style. One should try this restaurant once for sure.

It was a meal of 2 halves! Two of us shared the mixed hot starters, £9.95, and disappointing! Apart from the added salad, it had the look and taste of coming from Iceland (the store), so a bad choice. The menu is extensive and we chose badly. When the mains arrived we realised that we needn't have had a starter! My friend enjoyed his Kabseh (Chicken), £8.95, and I thought my Maklouba (Lamb), £9.95, was passable, but contained potato and rice, again another choice next time. The personable owner, Bessam, had suggested I change my initial lamb dish choice so we could sample the 2 different rices, there wasn't much difference according to my pallete! But reasonable value, bearing in mind that they don't serve alcohol, so have to make virtually all their money on the food! The service was friendly, but could have been better, we had to ask for every glass of water twice! It was full and has a loyal following, and they can reconfigure tables.

Came here Saturday afternoon for lunch with the family. Interior decor was really nice, comfortable and welcoming. Service was spot on, by I think a trainee but was closely monitored by a manager. The food was, well, extremely fresh and so tasty. We got the family grill which was a very generous portion. Usually the shawarma meat is bland, however it was very juicy and marinated very well. Rest of.meats were equally as good. I can't complain at all. 5 stars!

We initially were passing and were supposed to go to another Moroccan restaurant. Oasis happened to be next a mosque we wanted to pray in. The owner was really polite and helped us by letting us do Ablution in his establishment. We ended up eating there. Food was excellent. Service also very good.
