The Oak in Bromley

We decided to try this for Sunday roast after reading such good reviews on Trip Advisor. There were a few issues however which is as follows: 1) When diners spend the best part of 20 quid for a roast each you do not expect to see an additional charge of £6.50 for cauliflower cheese. It should be included in the price of a roast per person. 2) Portions were very small: 2 very small slices of beef for me and a chicken leg ( no breast here ) for my partner. This in no way constitutes a charge of £19.50 and £18.50 respectively. 3) 4 minuscule roast potatoes per person were also included. I am not sure why considering potatoes are so economical to buy. As a general review and based on the above, we would not return here. There is simply better local places around which shows better value for money.

Booked a table for 8pm on a Saturday night. After finally flagging someone down to tell them we had a reservation we were shown to our table. We sat there for about 20 minutes before somebody even came to take a drinks order. My partner wanted a pint of bitter but they had no bitters at all. We finally got a waiter and ordered our food after about an hour. We wanted the arancini and the prawn skewers but were told they had no prawn skewers so changed it to salt and pepper squid. When the starters came out the squid was so thin I don’t even think there was any squid in there. We had ordered the stew and the Tortelloni for our mains. Again after waiting a while the waiter came out and told us they had no Tortelloni. I was a bit fed up by this time and just chose the ribeye steak. The mains came out and the stew portion was very small and not served with any vegetables. The steak was nicely cooked and came with very fresh chips but the long stemmed broccoli was crispy and very salty. This was our first experience at this pub and the waiter was lovely but they were clearly understaffed and whoever is ordering their food is not doing a good job. Not overly impressed for a first visit!

Great fish and chips at the Oak tonight. Special mention has to go to Chris, for his excellent service and genuine smile. He was an absolute pleasure. Thanks Chris, hope you receive this positive feedback!

We have been randomly stopping off at this pub on our long dog walks since it’s been refurbed, sometimes for lunch and sometimes just a quick drink. The staff are all soooo welcoming and friendly (and all love dogs!), the menu is fabulous-so much choice (and I’m v picky 🙄😂), food always delicious and well presented, and speed of service is just right. It’s definitely a favourite of ours and I highly recommend.

Went for family meal. Staff excellent and friendly. Choices on menu were ok. Vegan choices limited. Had two main vegan meals and one vegan pudding if you didn’t want just vegan ice cream. The vegan burger was excellent and one of the best I have had. Kids eat free. They had cheesy paster and a scoop of ice cream. There were some free drinks included on the kids menu but these weren’t pointed out to us so we ended up getting drinks that cost money when we could have had free drinks for the kids. Had a bottle of Malbec £32.00. No real ale available. Nice enough bottle but seemed slightly expensive. Essentially two course meal with bottle of wine cost us just over £100.00 which included £15 off because kids meals were free.

We went on Father’s Day and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was great and the service was fantastic. The staff were friendly even though they were very busy. There was a lovely laid back atmosphere and we would definitely go again.

My new favourite pub! Such fantastic staff, great atmosphere and lovely cocktails followed by some of the nicest pub food I've ever had. I can't believe I've never been before! We will definitely be back.

What can I say!!! This place is an absolute hidden gem! From the minute we walked in to the minute we left the service was absolutely impeccable! And to top it all the food and drink was top notch! I haven’t been anywhere in a long time that made me feel so welcome!! I will 1000% be back!!

We hired the restaurant area of The Oak for a party for 50 people last Saturday (17th June). Communication leading up to our party (with Liam and Chiara) was excellent and we managed to cover what was needed. On the day, because we wanted to play pictures through the TV I went to the pub in the afternoon but unfortunately my phone wouldn’t connect so Rob spent at least two hours working on a get around for me. Eventually we got our pictures which were a great success. Food buffet was plentiful and good. All in all a great evening, supported by staff (including Chiara, Rob & Liam), who could not do enough for us. Excellent customer service, which even our guests commented on. We would thoroughly recommend the people and the venue. Thank you, The Oak.

Had a really wonderful Sunday Lunch at The Oak Pub in Bromley on 30th April. The food was absolutely outstanding and all the staff very friendly, polite and attentive, especially Sulli (Liam) who couldn’t do enough to make the birthday celebrations extra special. We ate in the garden as it was such a glorious day, which pleased the children and our little fur baby too !! Thank you all so much, we will definitely be returning to this this gem of a pub. 👏👏

Sunday Lunch 1430 booking. Now, we have eaten here on three occasions in past 6 months and it’s fair to say - they’ve got it. My wife and I are simple folk; with a level of expectation around the good old British Sunday lunch. So Roast Beef twice with extra roast potatoes and gravy. Presentation- excellent Taste - excellent Beef - well cooked and tasty, easy to cut, chew and swallow. Yorkshire Pudding - perfectly large, crisp on edge and soft to middle. Roast Potatoes - not as crisp as I like but delicious. Mixed veg - perfect. My wife is a veggie so she relished the extra potatoes as I ate four (yes four) slices of tender sirloin. Service - Excellent and attentive. So finally we had dessert of hot brownie and ice-cream and hot Churros with chocolate sauce. One IPA and lime and soda. Total cost - £62 with gratuity’s. One small issue - horseradish came in very small white paper pot? But, well done The Oak, Bromley. We shall return.

Me and my partner went here on 02/04/23 for Sunday lunch and the lady that brang our food was very polite food was nice we didn't stay for more drinks as the bar staff so miserable just spoilt it for us maybe they need help in customer service

Booked for 5 people and were placed on a table for 4 which was a tight squeeze. Firstly had low stock of bottled soft drinks and then took 20 mins for drinks to come out. A bigger table became available and upon asking the waitress was very rude and dismissing. We then ordered roasts, was advised pork would take longer that was no problem- didn’t realise this would be 45 mins. Whilst waiting for mains as a table of women we were chatting and giggled at a moderate volume- no one around us seemed to have an issue nor were they speaking any quieter than us, the waitress came over and told us to be quiet. When the 45 min piece of pork arrived, to my disappointment it was the size of French Fancy and as thin as a sheet of A4. The male staff seemed attentive and understanding and offered a second piece. We as a group have dined here many times previously but it’s unlikely we will go again due to feeling unwelcome. Wouldn’t attend if your looking for an easy going Sunday roast

Popped in here for lunch on my Birthday, Monday afternoon. Extremely nice staff with a great sense of humour & great service. The food was outstanding, I had the Korean corn ribs to start & so delicious 🤤 my husband had the Portuguese soup which he throughly enjoyed. For main I had the chicken Caesar salad 🥗 which was so nice, & my husband had the burger 🍔 & chips 🍟 again he really enjoyed it! Would definitely 💯 return & highly recommend

Went to The Oak today for Sunday lunch, our first meal out since lockdown rules were eased. As usual The Oak didn’t disappoint, Jamie & Carole has ensured that all of the social distancing rules were in place and they worked like clockwork. This is my local pub but it is definitely worth travelling for. It has amazing food offering tapas, Thai nights and brunches all for a great price. The atmosphere is always brilliant, prefect for a couples night out, friends and for families. The staff are always eager to make sure everyone gets served and has an enjoyable experience. It has a great layout and I look forward to coming here most weekends and during the week!!!

Sunday lunch for five. Excellent service and lovely food. Unusually for a Sunday pub lunch I came away from The Oak feeling as if I'd actually eaten a meal.I'm so fed up with the two miserable slices of supposedly 'hand carved' chicken draped over two or three tiny roast potatoes that I thought The Oak would be the same as all the others - it wasn't. Pay this lovely pub a visit. You won't be disappointed!

The Oak is our local pub, we visit frequently and have done for years and always love it (it was my dad’s local too), service is great, staff friendly, always go above and beyond. I visited with a girlfriend last night, perfect atmosphere- Friday night, live music and we wanted some drinks and nibbles. Didn’t arrive until just after 8:30pm and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening. Bar staff so friendly and serve with a smile and Alex in particular was really helpful and served us throughout the evening. Beingmy local I guess it’s easy to become complacent and not remind staff just what a great job they do- hence why we keep returning. Drinks and food always of excellent standard. Best Sunday lunch in the area. Chicken or beef, both cooked to perfection, great crispy roast potatoes and would go for the gravy alone! All served with a smile - recommended to book as its popular.

Had a great New Years day with 8 adults and 4 kids. Everyone loved the food and everyone commented on how cosy and nice the pub was. Couldn't recommend this pub highly enough.

We booked this for 4 of us quite last minute but they were fantastic and fitted us in. I am not fond of eating roasts out as they never taste the same but m goodness this place excels in this. From the staff who were very welcoming to the food the decor all fabulous. Only downside it doesn't have parking but you can park in the road opposite.

I sometimes meet up with friends at this pub, as it's reasonably local to where I live. It's a really nice little pub, with great atmosphere, good selection of drinks, and friendly staff.

My Son & his Girlfriend & myself went on Sunday to The Oak, absolutely fantastic. We all had the Roast Beef & I wanted the beef well done & soft vegetables, not a problem only to willing to oblige and it was cooked to perfection. Nice touches include an additional pot of delicious gravy & a sizeable pot of horseradish. The staff were all very friendly & helpful with nothing to much trouble & apologised for keeping us waiting but it was well worth the wait. They had live music played by a very competent saxophone player which added nicely to the atmosphere. Very well done & we shall visit again. Brian Birks

The best Sunday Roast we have ever had in a pub. Lovely staff, nice decor and great service. The chicken was really moist and the red cabbage to die for. Extra Gravy, homemade Yorkshire puds and crispy potatoes. Add cauliflower- so worth it. What is not to like! We will be coming back often.

After travelling to a nearby shopping centre me and my partner decided to pop in for a Sunday lunch, we were so delighted by the welcoming staff who ensured our drinks and food were made quickly and the food was so delicious, will definitely be returning as it is worth the stop!!

Después de una reunión de negocios en este pub, al final de la cual se consumió mucha cerveza deliciosa, decidí presentarla (el pub, no la cerveza) a mi esposa. Entonces, algunos días después cenamos aquí en la encantadora zona exterior. No habíamos hecho una reserva a mitad de semana y encontramos una mesa libre sin problema. El menú era bastante extenso, sin embargo, pedimos comidas ligeras y las compartimos con una botella de vino. El servicio era tan excelente como la comida y ambos disfrutamos muchísimo la comida.

Tuve mala experiencia llevando a mi madre en una silla de ruedas. Claramente no es bienvenido por el personal y el hecho de que no era apto para sillas de ruedas. La casera estaba hablando de mi madre y donde estaba sentada sin que ella lo supiera era mi madre. Tan grosero y sentí que bajamos el tono al traer a alguien con una silla de ruedas. ¡Solo quería llevar a mi madre a comer al lugar más cercano a su hogar de cuidados y me sentí fatal por ello!

Nos consideraríamos locales y hemos visitado The Oak muchas veces para la cena del domingo, que siempre ha sido de alto nivel. Sin embargo, el chef a largo plazo se ha ido y se ha contratado uno nuevo, así que nos interesó ver si la comida se mantuvo en el nivel anterior. Mi esposa tenía la lubina con la ensalada asiática (foto adjunta) que dijo que era excelente con todos los sabores frescos de la ensalada. Tuve el cordero asado y tengo que decir que fue uno de los mejores asados que he tenido en un restaurante o un pub; el cordero se cocinó a fuego lento, lo que yo prefiero y el brócoli era de tallo tierno con gran sabor y todo se servía caliente. Decidimos compartir un gofre belga para el desierto que se convirtió en una pelea con las cucharas y mi esposa ganando.

Called in today for Sunday Lunch! The Bar was quite busy but I was served straight away & we were shown to our table by a very nice guy who I presumed was the Landlord! We ordered the Roast Beef & it arrived around 5 minutes later! Can honestly say it was the best Roast Dinner I had ever had in a Pub & we eat out every Sunday! Everything on the plate was perfectly cooked & piping hot! Absolutely gorgeous! The flavours were amazing! It really was a perfect Roast Dinner! Can't wait to go back! Loved it!

My daughter and I along with my 3 young grandchildren, came for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. The reviews I’d read said how great the food was but I can’t say we were impressed. The service was good and the pub itself is nice but we found the food only average. The Yorkshire puddings for the children looked like Aunt Bessies, so I think they were frozen and they were served burnt and had to be returned. We all had roast beef but there was quite a lot of fat on there and the vegetables that were served separately were only luke warm. A real shame as we don’t get to go for Sunday lunch often as a family as it isn’t cheap so this was a treat, but unfortunately we won’t be back.

Visited The Oak with my partner for Sunday lunch yesterday. We don't venture out much for Sunday lunch as hubby is very picky about his roast potatoes. Have to tell you that it was absolutely fabulous. Crispy cracking belly of pork, supreme sirloin of beef, al dente vegetables and the most amazing roast potatoes and home made gravy (could really tell how much effort had gone into making it). Can't wait to go back again. My Sundays will no longer be taken up by cooking and cleaning up for hours on end! The pub is a stone's throw away from where we live which us an added bonus. Chef Andy has turned this place around with his excellent food. Staff and service first class too. Go, you won't regret it!!

As a regular family spot, we have lots of love for this place but I've just had the absolute best meal ever. Lamb was perfectly cooked and lovely service as always.

Carole and her team looked after us brilliantly - we had a large group of 17 but there was no delay in getting the food out considering there were so many of us and they were busy. The staff were really friendly, the roast dinners were tasty and the overall atmosphere was spot on, cannot fault any of it, we will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

Six of us went for lunch and all enjoyed the roast dinners and other choices from the menu. I chose the Camembert and fig tart, which was a very good choice after a festive period of turkey and beef. Although this is a family pub the separate dining area does give just enough isolation to believe that you are in a very good restaurant. My wife tells me we shall return!

We visited on Friday 14th Dec , had the Christmas menu , halloumi sticks were lovely , the roast turkey dinner was delicious , crispy roast potatoes and plenty of gravy and lovely creme brûlée dessert , would recommend !

Visited The Oak today with my wife, brother and sister in law. We had dishes from the festive menu i.e the roast turkey and the venison. For dessert we had creme brulee and the chocolate torte. All of these dishes were absolutely superb, beautifully cooked and presented. We all had a great time and would recommend this festive menu, it is absolutely delicious.

This is our second year that we have taken our staff to the lovely Oak. It is a warm and welcoming pub with the lovely Jamie and Carol making it extra special, nothing was too much for them to make out party of 16 have such a fun and enjoyable night. The food was excellent from the turkey to the venison and sea bass all first class and all our staff was delighted with their food, followed by a fantastic band such a successful evening for us so many thanks to Jamie and Carol for making this happen I would highly recommend The Oak

Just been out for a 1st December xmas lunch - amazing food. Went for the turkey which was very tasty and a good portion. Great ambiance and great choice on the pre order menu. Will be trying to squeeze in another Christmas lunch at the Oak before the 25th!

Never been to The Oak before. It was a flying visit to Bromley. I enjoyed the scampi and chips. The food was tasty and hot, and service was of the highest standard. The staff are friendly and efficient - No diner could ask for anything more than this. The atmosphere in the place was good too. Clearly it is a popular pub.

A nice pub with nice food. Pleasant surroundings with a warm welcome. Italian beer on tap along with some nice real ales. Slight mistake on the bill made for a little embarrassment but was rectified quickly. All in all a nice night out.

Thank you to the team at the Oak for looking after us so well after mum’s funeral. A bit of a sensitive time, but we were made to feel relaxed and welcome. We had an area dedicated to our family and friends. We chose from a very extensive buffet menu which was delicious and kept fresh and topped up at all times. Much nicer and more comfortable than a room in a hotel. Thanks guys.

My wife celebrated a major birthday here with the family - there were eleven of us including a five year old and a baby. We had a great lunch, the staff were friendly and the food excellent value for money. We most certainly did not go hungry and enjoyed a good meal together. In the early evening some friends joined us for a drink or two - it was a great success. Seeing how much we had to drink and the number of empty wine bottles it was good value for money.

Can’t fault the food and service one bit. Homemade beef pie and slow toast belly pork were so tasty. Very helpful staff. Extensive menu so it was difficult to choose but we made an excellent choice. Looking forward to booking in the run up to Xmas with so many live music events happening. Highly recommended.

Went to The Oak today for lunch with my family and I have to say that we had a great time. The food was delicious with very generous portions. We all had a starter each which we enjoyed followed by a roast dinner which was excellent and the desserts were very nice too, and the table service was also very good. The Oak has been my local for a long time and I can say with confidence that if you should visit for just a drink or a meal you will always get a warm welcome. I would not hesitate to recommend this Pub to anyone.

Can’t rate the service or food enough, the menu choices are great and to top it off the bottomless prosecco went down very well! Had a wonderful afternoon with friends and we can’t wait to book the next one. I just wish the brunch was available at the weekend! Thanks to the waiting staff, chef and management for a superb experience.

I have been to The Oak a few times but not with such a big group. Having to deal with 17 ladies at a hen-do cannot be easy, but the staff were amazing at keeping on top of things and making sure everyone was fed and watered, they do not skimp on the alcohol and was keeping an eye out whenever a glass was empty.

Was treated to a bottomless brunch at the Oak yesterday and it was so good! The food choice was great and I opted for the Oak burger followed by the French toast. The burger was the best I have had in ages and the French toast was delicious! Still full up the next day lol. Thoroughly recommend, staff were friendly and constantly refilling our glasses. Shall be back!

Booked last minute as were let down with a local restaurant booking, came up trumps as usual, had a delicious burger and our friends enjoyed the evening. They were very busy with a function but this did not distract from the service we received.
