I've had some mixed experiences at The Cottage but popped in yesterday for a drink and the vibes were strong and the roasts smelled and looked great

Fantastic yesterday. Congratulations everyone! Wife was a bit unsure as last time (a few years back ) we had a roast where the roasts were cubed. This time more traditional however and everything was awesome. Extra cauliflower and broccoli cheese delicious. One beef one pork. Good rinks available too with cask and keg. Good service also. Can't wait to return. Keep up the good work. 👍🙏

Always a great selection of cask and keg beers along with friendly and welcoming staff. When paired with Bodega's amazing food, a great combination. Definitely one of Norwich's most underrated pubs!

Absolutely adore this place, took my whole family here today on the back of my previous visits and this really didn’t disappoint. We had the sharers to start and all were awesome. The food is absolutely incredible, their gluten free options are amazing, they’re dog friendly and the cocktails are outstanding. Please please please visit this place.

Completely unexpected this one. The outside bellies it's internal beauty. It has a really lovely outdoor bit, wonderful food and drinks. Highly worth a visit

We have been visiting this pub for sometime and the Sunday roasts are delicious. I generally have the beef but decided to try the lamb this week. The quality of the meat was 10/10. The staff are brilliant too.

Amazing pub with great food and drinks. They host puzzled pint and the toilet is push to exit, what more could you want?!

The Cottage is another fabulous addition to the excellent pubs we already have in NR3. It has great food and being a free house means the beer selection is well thought out and varied. It’s our favourite.

Now independently owned, selection of local breweries on cask, plus range of kegs. Bar snacks are available. Indoor & outdoor seating areas! Relaxed atmosphere! Now doing hot food @ weekends!

Lovely ambience and vibe. General menu: Food was a limited menu, but sufficient choice. Fish and Chips were generously proportioned and piping hot. Certainly a good pub fish and chips, albeit not absolutely outstanding. Bodega pop up: Summer 2023 - Thurs to Sun kitchen residency from the Bodega, purveyor of phat sandwiches usually found on Norwich market. You won't go hungry. Would go back. Friendly service.

Had a lovely Sunday roast. Had the pork roast and it was so good! Staff were super friendly too.

A lovely pub and great food from The Bodega kitchen. Didn't get to sit outside as the beer garden was full, but it looked like a lovely sun trap. Inside was nice and cool despite the heat.

Outstanding service. We were extremely well looked after whilst sitting in their beautiful garden out back. Tried some food, and all of it was truly excellent. We had a burger, pigs in blankets, and crispy chicken - it was all delicious. I'm looking forward to going back!

Beef was great and cooked perfectly, good beers. Roast potatoes were disappointing,hard and no garlic or rosemary as advertised. Extra gravy was instant, no roast parsnips. Yorkshire wernt on point. 66%

Go there regularly with my partner, good range of beers at a fair price and very clean. The roast dinners are excellent and there's even table service for drinks at certain times, also they are dog friendly and have outside seating out the back. Never had a problem with the staff who are welcoming and friendly.

Visited The Cottage Silver Road (our favourite pub for Sunday lunch in Norwich) today. Yet again the guys smashed it out of the ball park. My roast pork was plentiful and absolutely delicious. The staff are super friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is great with plenty of locals, who are clearly regular customers. The last two reviews look highly suspicious to me. They clearly were one table together but chose to post two separate bad reviews in order to do the maximum damage. If you click on their respective profiles you’ll find that this is the first review they’ve ever left. Sounds to me like competitors of the The Cottage are not too happy with their roaring success! All I can say is try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

We had an excellent Sunday lunch today. The beef was tasty and tender. The vegetables cooked to perfection served with a light fluffy Yorkshire pudding. We have eaten here several times. The food is always good and the service exceptional. I like the way the staff are attentive and keep an eye on the tables preempting customers needs.

Absolutely gorgeous gem in NR3! Love coming here and their food is also delicious. Their mixed drinks are always yummy! Was surprised at the quality of the roast dinner we had. Will definitely be back.

Took friends for Sunday lunch on 2 April. Both the beef & lamb were chewy but we didn’t complain. At 5 am on Monday we were both ill. This lasted all day & I had to cancel a dental appointment & couldn’t do anything the rest of the day. We were horrified to learn our friends had the same symptoms. Rang the Cottage twice & left messages asking for the manager to ring me- no response. Clearly hygiene issues of sort but extremely concerning that they can’t be bothered to respond. Never again!!!

We got sat near the pool table thing and just felt like we was in the way of people playing and felt surrounded. I ordered a roast beef dinner my friend ordered the Lamb. Both meats were so fatty we really struggled to cut it so couldn't eat it. All day today my friend and I have been really unwell with an upset stomach since around 4am this morning. I will NEVER go here again. Paid for food that's made us ill.. Awesome! No complaints about the staff i thought thwy were friendly but Avoid if you don't want to be poorly!

Calming atmosphere and a lovely bar billiards table. Good selection of national/local ale as well as craft beer and traditional larger.

Highly impressed with the quality of food with each roast. The Yorkshire’s are the stuff dreams are made of. If I could make a recommendation of having the gravy on side, that would be my only one. However for some who detests gravy on their plate, I loved this meal. 10/10!

Great environment with good beer. Can be a little noisy if you like to chat but it does have a beer garden.

Just been for Sunday lunch. Great food, lovely traditional pub atmosphere, great service. I booked ahead and let them know one of us is gluten free and they offered to make gluten free pastry especially. Level of service you just don't get everywhere!

Having been away on holiday for the past four weeks, we were really looking forward to a good Sunday lunch. The Cottage did not disappoint! They gave us the best table in the pub and served us arguably the best roast you can get in Norwich. My partner had the roast beef and I had the turkey. Both meals were totally delicious and generous portions. The service is always great as is the cosy local pub atmosphere. Well done to the whole team at The Cottage, we will see you again soon. This place has a smart interior, but it’s noisy when full as a result of all the hard surfaces. The waitresses were run off their feet, so service was slow. We all tried a different Sunday roast …. The food was cooked to a high standard and was tasty. I’d have liked to more green veg and roast potatoes on the plate, as these were lacking. Food prices are reasonable for the quality of grub served.

We popped in for Sunday lunch having just returned from holiday. They serve Sunday lunch until 5pm which is quite unusual and a nice touch if you’re late eaters like us. I ordered the roast chicken and my partner the roast beef with a side of cauliflower cheese. Everything was cooked really well and a good portion size (albeit a few more roast potatoes would have been nice. It came with 4-5 small pieces, which seemed a bit mean compared with other places we eat at). Having said that I guess we could have asked for more. Overall another excellent meal at a really lovely local pub. Really important to support local pubs. Use them or lose them! Staff we all lovely and very attentive. We shall be returning again soon!!

This was my second visit and loved it again. The food is incredible (the hake special was particularly delicious) and the cocktails aren’t your standard fayre - they’re imaginative and excellent value if you get the two for £12 deal. Will definitely be back - hopefully to try the Sunday roast next time.

This is such an amazing pub/restaurant. This is the third time I have been and the food has been spectacular EVERY time. The cocktails are superb and fantastically priced, especially if u get in on the two for 12 deals! The service is amazing..., Relaxed, friendly and great atmosphere. There's a garden and dogs are welcome, along with children. Although there isn't a designated children's menu they do "smaller" portions of many of the dishes on their incredible menu. Absolute perfection, cannot recommend enough.

Love this place and I wish more people knew about it. Long ago this place used to be run down, a bit of a “spit and saw dust pub” but now it’s really modern and trendy. The food is amazing and cocktails brilliant, they have a huge assortment of gins and beers too. Please visit this place, more people really need to know about it.

We came here for a catch up drink and meal and although I already know they did fantastic specials everything was surpassed The food was amazing we had the duck leg and i cant tell you how much you need to come here to eat!!

Staff are very friendly, good mixologists and the decor is modern and cosy. The bar grub is very good too. Would recommend this if you are near Silver Road.

My son and Daughter in law took me for Mother’s Day and it was amazing! The food was so good, they were quick and the staff were so friendly! I would definitely recommend you come here! Well done, keep up the excellent service!

Lovely Sunday lunch and also dog friendly for all the animal lovers out there

I have lived in North Norwich for about 10 years now, and for the past few years have been on a bit of a mission to find the best Sunday Roast within walking distance. We do love a Sunday Roast, and have travelled Norfolk and further afield to find the best, though, as we discovered just before Christmas 2019, it was practically on our doorstep all the time! Great pub as well - unpretentious, welcoming and characterful, though contemporary. Oh, and in case I haven't mentioned this already, the best Sunday Roast you will find ANYWHERE! P.S 2022 - the pub has since changed hands, and although still good, the Sunday Roast is not the sublime thing it used to be under the previous management. Sadly, I don't think any other Sunday Roast will ever come close!

Excellent food, fabulous wines and cocktails and bar staff who are deserving of more than that title, spotting emptying glasses and appearing ready for orders, and bringing the next cocktail ordered in their 2 for £12 offer just as your first one finishes 😊

Ten of us went here for a quite boozy Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. The various members of the party showed up in dribs and drabs over the space of an hour or so which didn't bother the excellent staff at all, or...

I like the wood decor, open fire and atmosphere. Tried the guest ciders as tasters on tap, had a rather sweet honeyed version in the end, prefer something dryer but wanted a change from Aspalls. Staff are friendly.

Revisited the cottage after a long while and was really surprised at the change. (Had not been back for approx 2 years) The staff were very friendly and helpful and tested an ale or two before settling on a lovely local IPA collab that the cottage did. Only popped in for one but after looking at the menu and seeing food come out to someone else we decided to grab some food and had the steak the food is fantastic and most certainly worth a visit. (And exceptionally good value for money) More traditional pub food but very well cooked. Ales were a good selection and staff really friendly. This area of Norwich has a great selection of pubs and this one is certainly up there with the others.

Hidden gem, off the main routes. Consciously old fashioned decor which subtly combines details from different periods, featuring wood and exposed brick which combine for a cosy, fireside atmosphere. Service was attentive and friendly, and the food fit the setting: a mixture of country pub, continental, and modern classics. The warm scotch egg and the fried chicken strips are both superb examples from the "Snacks" menu. Extensive and selective wine list (another time) and a good range of keg and cask ales on offer, joined by a very decent gin menu. All in all, excellent quality fare at a very reasonable price.

Love going here!!! Such a chilled out environment and it’s nice to go with friends and family for drinks or a meal. The food there is incredible and I love going after work with colleagues for a couple of drinks and some chips! 😆

Fantastic Sunday roast! Cauliflower cheese especially tasty and for a good price too. Veg all tasty and meat cooked to perfection. A friend had the lamb and said it was the best lamb roast he’s ever had. Service was very attentive but unobtrusive; very friendly and created a calm lovely atmosphere.

Lovely staff, great grub, good beers and reasonable prices

Good beer and friendly. Lovely garden well enclosed a real sun trap but plenty of umbrellas for shade. A range of meals at reasonable prices we decided on 3 bar snacks for £12 scampi, pigs in blankets and sausage roll which was large and tasty. All came will different dressings/sauces.

Stopped for a quick drink, ended up with a few more. The beer was well kept and the service efficient. The spirits and cocktail menu looked very interesting. The food menu also looked good with an interesting mix of snacks and full meals. Hopefully the St James Quay housing development will prove beneficial to their continued success.

Stopped in for an absolutely top notch vegan Sunday roast! The chestnut and root veg Wellington was delicious as were all the colourful trimmings (purple kale, purple carrot and red cabbage). All seen off with a couple pints of rhubarb cider. Great service as well....
