Our whole family suffered food poisoning. The place seems unhygienic and clearly this has affected the food served.

Best lunch in Edinburgh, consistently amazing. Great value. Barry wrap is my go to. Saltiness from the feta adds to the crunch of the falafel, and the chicken is always full of flavour. 10/10 always. Don’t be put off by the queue they are incredibly fast at service.

‘Thuri best’ is my all time go to wrap, with extra falafel.

Highly recommend for a quick and cheap lunch in Edinburgh. Wraps are fresh and delicious. Falafel and aubergine filling was our favourite! For just £5 it's an amazing deal. It's located next to Edinburgh University. If I were still a student I'm sure I'd be eating it every day!

I had a great time eating delicious food at this restaurant. The staff was committed to providing great service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome, and I definitely enjoyed it. Most importantly, the food tasted great! I can't believe I went there twice within 3 hours. I am definitely going back there.I even forgot to take a picture of the food!!! :))

A well-known wee eatery in Potterrow, packed at lunch times but worths your wait as food is fresh and delicious! Lots of vegetarian options as well! Stuff is fast and friendly. The place is a bit dated though...

One of the best wraps I’ve had, very tasty and brilliant combos with flavours. We shared a Bary wrap and a Thuri best which were both delicious. Very reasonably priced for what you get too!

Amazing wrap! Aubergine and felafel, with some chips on the side. Highly recommend if you want some authentic food. Service is fast, lots of seats upstairs and downstairs.

If you look at my review history, you can see I am a big fan of wraps. I come from a country where eating shawarma is a national past time. That being said, I have to advise people - do not come here. This place will ruin all other wraps in existence, because they make the absolute BEST wraps I've had in my life. The flavours combine to give you an incredible experience of taste, smell and texture. I strongly recommend the samar salad, spicy, with extra fuul and aubergine/olives. You get a taste of everything. For a £5/wrap pricetag, this place has fueled my dissertation thesis.

Absolutely delicious wraps here - the chicken falafel and hummus were fab. Friendly staff, and could tell the quality of the food by the constant stream of students coming in to eat. Would definitely recommend and such good value

Excellent value for money! Only ever got their falafel, havent gotten anything else. Falafel isnt cooked to order, Im usually against this but they are a busy shop. Fries (no chips here) are made to order, crispy and not oily. Sometimes theres a queue, goes to show how many people want to come here. Would come again!

Yummmmm! So worth it! 1. Even though the sitting space is small, it has a super cozy vibe! 2. The flavours are just *chef’s kiss*! And for the price, a real steal 🤌 3. They have meat as well as vegan options! We got the bean and aubergine wraps which were both amazing and so so delicious! 4. Had a cup of latte on the side, which came out of the in-house espresso machine, and was great 🩵 Totally recommend grabbing a early dinner or lunch here! Happy Fooding 🍄

What a great little place this is. Really friendly staff, the food was excellent. I tried a traditional tea for the first time and it did not disappoint 😀 as for the prices, fantastic!! I'll be back.

The best wrap in town. Nile Cafe and Africano Wrap, the shop right beside it are the two cheapest you can find in Edinburgh but also the best when it comes to the taste. The size of the wrap is very fulfilling.

Nile Valley wraps are the best wraps in Edinburgh, at such a good price too. I've been countless times, with seating available upstairs and downstairs, and a take-away option too. Really love this place!

The best wrap I've ever had. This is NOT a drill. Guys were friendly too - they mixed up my order but made a fresh one immediately, no trouble. Cheap - £4.95 for a wrap with avocado, chicken, roasted aubergine.. What's not to love?

The food is fresh and handmade, and the wraps are out of control. Highly recommend if you want to eat on the way or a picnic in the park. I feel bad paying just 5£. The stuff is friendly and welcome. Thanks

My first experience ordering a falafel wrap with aubergine. All the ingredients are homemade and displayed in front of you when you order. The wrap was one of the best I've ever tried! And it's light food, easy to digest and for a few minutes walk you can sit at the Meadows (if weather permits) and enjoy this fantastic Sudanese food.

Without doubt the best wrap I’ve ever had. Go for the Barry wrap, falafel is beautifully crispy and the chicken is Devine. Couldn’t recommend more

Yummiest falafel I have had go for African original or chicken salad falafel and add aubergine and avocado.

The wraps are not bad and affordably-priced at 5 pounds each. Possibly the best place for wraps in Edinburgh. There’s usually a queue at mealtimes, so be there early if you want to avoid it. There’s more seating space downstairs too. I would recommend bary wrap and samar salad (also a wrap).

Used to come here a bunch when I worked nearby. Came back on a whim while passing through town today - still just as good, and the price has barely increased over years. Order the Africa Wrap. I assume the rest of the menu is also good, but why mess with perfection.

Good, not amazing, falafel-hummus-aubergine wrap, but for less than 5 pounds I would go back again. Spicy sauce has a nice amount of spice to it!

The cues around the corner in university term time speak for themselves, this place is popping off. It serves wraps and rolls of a variety of descriptions. I'm vegan so I opted for the vegan falafel wrap and it was very tasty 😋 and best part was it was filling for value.

I mean who doesn't love the Nile Valley? Great sandwiches although can be super busy with students/tourists. Not the sexiest restaurant but always had lovely food so no complaints here.

In some cities it is hard to find affordable restaurants that are not in the fast food category. Edinburgh is not one of those cities, there are plenty of affordable places with good food. This is one of those places. Recommended.

I’ve been here countless times. There wraps are filling, tasty, and healthy, and the service is quick. I tried their main meals, and sadly the quality of those don’t live up to their wraps, but I’m giving them 5 stars regardless as I doubt anyone really orders the mains.

Haven't been here in years but popped in for a quick wrap. Unbelievable that it's still so reliably fresh and delicious while being one of the only places where it's still an actual bargain. Always been five stars, still is.

That's my idea of a restaurant. No marketing rubbish, just great tasty food ready in 2 minutes and a nice staff.

Lovely people doing a lovely job making amazing food while fasting the whole day. I ordered moshkal mashwi per another reviewer’s recommendation. The food came a little late, understandably, as they were also breaking their fast. They were very apologetic when they realised I was fasting too, and provided a refreshing wonderful fresh juice on the house. Food came soon after I asked, and was I happy with it all. Lamb was marinated perfectly and vegetables were very tasty. Spicy sauce is next to none. Will be coming again!

Food is well priced but it's really not as great as it's made out to be. Maybe I got unlucky but I'm just posting what my experience was. Customer service was not very friendly. Felt like I had committed a crime or shouldn't be there. Avoid.

I came here to pick up a meal during a very difficult moment in my life, and honestly the people here were so welcoming and kind. The food was absolutely delicious, best wrap in my life and honestly on such a terrible day for me, coming here was a respite from everything. I'm no longer in Edinburgh, but if I were to return, I would immediately make my way over to get a meal. 5 stars is not enough for them. The food is amazing and so are the people here.

There is a reason why every student loves the Nile Valley Cafe. Getting a delicious, hearty wrap for just under £5 is an absolute bargain nowadays. I absolutely cherish this place, and especially cherish their Bary Wrap. As an Arab student, it takes me back home with the fantastic foul medammes they use to fill the wrap. A gem right in the heart of the city, and a place you definitely have to eat it, whether you're just visiting, are studying in the city or live in the city in general. I can't praise this place enough.

Just had a bary wrap (shredded chicken, vegetables and hummus) for lunch. The portion is generous and also good price, costed me £4.95. Taste is good and flavourful, they will ask spiciness level that you desire. Usually there will be a long queque but don't worry, they prepare customer's order quickly.

We don't know how they make wraps so good but they are incredible. The falafel, the aubergines, chilli sauce and hummus all delicious. We go every time we visit the city
