THE NEW HUNTSMAN INN in Selby

We have just moved into the village and popped in for a drink quite late on the 23rd Jan. There were a few people outside in the smoking area who all said hello when we arrived, and it was the same when we went inside. Lovely friendly feel to the place and welcoming people. We are looking forward to popping in again.

We visited as a family for Friday curry night. We love the friendly welcome, and hospitality. The chicken was so tender, and tasty, and the accompaniments were delicious.

We stayed with a group of friends around a 15 minute walk away from The Huntsman and what a great find it was. The selection of drinks on offer and the friendliness of Peter & Pete made our weekend and to top it off we had a quality Sunday lunch served with all the trimmings . Well done 👏

I regularly walk 2 miles to the Huntsman instead of going to 2 nearer pubs. I often find myself just popping out for a "couple" then find myself having tea because that looks nice what their eating over there. Food for me is a minefield as I'm dairy and gluten free but they always manage to sort me out with something delicious. The selection of drinks is fantastic and reasonably priced. Friendly locals makes it an entertaining evening.

I play in the darts and domino team for the Huntsman at Drax Peter and Peter are both welcoming and make you feel comfortable and treat you like a friend. The boy's regularly cook food for the team so I already new the food was very good. So this past weekend took family which included a six year old for Sunday Lunch. We do not eat out very often so this is a treat for us. The service and food was amazing very relaxed atmosphere. We all had separate meats on our Sunday Dinner and we were all impressed. Thank you Pete, Pete and your wonderful team.

The Huntsman have recently introduced a few additional options for a Sunday lunch including pies and a fantastic roast/boiled gammon. The Huntsman continues to deliver in both food and atmosphere, couldn't ask for a better local.

I went with my friend for a Sunday dinner, welcomed warmly by staff and served quickly. The food came out within 10 minutes, a big loaded plate (I had a small) topped with a huge Yorkshire pudding! Really enjoyed it, carrots flavourful and cooked well and the gammon was delicious. Will definitely be coming back with my family. Big thanks to the Peters!

Superb pub, have now been twice for food and on both times the service was fantastic, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the fresh homemade food is phenomenal. The family members in the group still talk about how much they enjoyed there meal here, so it has left a lasting memory for all the good reasons. When they are next up I am pretty sure we will be going again!!!!! Great place!!!!!!!

We came for a Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely fantastic. The home made Yorkshire puddings were massive and melted in my mouth. I had turkey (I know you would think I’d had enough). It was so so soft, it was gorgeous. As ever, the portion size was very generous and the cost extremely reasonable. A lovely atmosphere, the landlords and staff are very attentive and make sure everything goes well.I am going home now for a rest as I am absolutely full!!Thank you to the Peter's and team

Had an excellent Sunday lunch last weekend, thoroughly enjoyable, the Peters could not be more sociable landlords. We thought that they dealt with a particularly troublesome couple efficiently and brilliantly, as they complained about their whole meal. We could not fault ours (although we would have like our carrots a tad more soft!!!) and this couple could have spoilt the afternoon for us but credit to the boys as they apologised and away the couple went without paying for either a drink or their meal!!! Imagine our surprise to read a bad review from that lunchtime. Their restaurant was full and everyone else were very happy with their meals and desserts, well done boys, we will be back, thank you

My hubby & I booked in for Sunday lunch after reading reviews that gave us the impression that the food was good home cooked food & excellent value for money etc . We both went for roast beef , the meal arrived with something that looked like dog food on the plate & tasted off (the meat), the roast potatoes was black & the carrots had clearly not seen boiling water . I did complain & decided not to have the meal replaced has didn’t trust the meat . Surely the chef would not have sent the meal out with roast potatoes that looked like lumps of coal . Disgusting to be true full.

We recently went for Sunday lunch after reading the reviews on trip advisor. The Sunday lunch was good home cooked food, very reasonably priced and generous sized portions. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the delicious desserts and the friendliness of the staff. Would definitely return.

The "non Sunday" menu has recently been overhauled at the huntsman and has got some real corkers on it. The two Peters continue to ramp up the standards at Drax and it's well worth a return visit if you've been in the last year or so.

The new addition of quiche special to the menu is perfect for a summer meal. Homemade and cooked to perfection served with salad and new potatoes, heaven on a plate

Who could want more from a village pub! Great atmosphere and welcome by the 2 Petes. Food is amazing and all freshly cooked - even real chips which is a rarity these days. Sunday lunch is delish and excellent value. Put it on your list of places to visit - you will want to go back for more!! Kx

Been doing drinks and evening meals for a while but recently discovered the lunch menu which has recently been updated and there's some absolute corkers on it. Chicken wings and Nachos are brilliant.

Yet again, another fabulous meal at the Huntsman in Drax. We have been lots of times and the food is always of great quality, home cooked and very fresh! A good sized plate of food too! Our ‘go to’ pub for a guaranteed enjoyable and fulfilling meal. To enhance our dining experience are the landlords who are always very welcoming, very friendly and great company! You won’t be disappointed!!!!! Give the huntsman a go you won’t be disappointed!!

Fantastic pub, and best one for miles around. We visit regularly on our walks, and the food is excellent and homemade. There are a good range of beers , with a great selection of real ales. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of drinks and food on offer. Went today and had the sticky toffee pudding - WOW! Homemade,just like your grandma used to make!

Enjoyed an amazing Sunday Lunch with family - had 2 children with us. Staff catered for all our needs - food was delicious (beef was so tender!) Portions were generous and the dessert was yummy. Hosts were extremely welcoming and the pub has a lovely warm feel. Definitely recommend a visit.

Super Sunday lunch. Choice of roast meats with all the trimmings, available in small or standard size.All the ladies had small and all the men large!! Everybody was happy with their meals. The local Church was open the day we visited (worth a look around) so we came back to the pub for coffee and pudding after. All the food was delicious and very good value for money. Went last night for the first time with relatives and what a welcome, the peters were lovely made me feel like I was a regular and couldn’t do enough. The food was amazing and plentiful. They adapted a meal to support my dietary needs. Can’t wait to go back.

We've just recently moved to Drax and having access to a good local pub was a requirement for our house search. Peter and Peter have not disappointed as their pub is a fantastic addition to the village. Food is great, sunday lunches are particularly good and the beer/gin selection is both well thought out and plentiful! Looking forward to spending more time in our new local and would highly recommend for both local drinkers and traveling diners!

My family have been going to this little pub for many years. Peter and peter have taken it over and made it better than ever. The food is always of the highest standard. The service is second to none. And peter and peter are lovely. All staff will go out there way to help you and make your visit the best. It offsets a wide range of food and drinks to suit anyone’s taste. I personally love there Sunday lunch. Is a little gem this place. A lovely quaint family pub.

Visited 3 times over the weekend and had a whole range of things to eat from snacks to Sunday lunch. Every meal was cooked to perfection and of great quality and value for money. Homemade chips are the best in the area!! Huge selection of high quality beers, guns and wines to accompany any meal on the menu. The welcome from the two Peters is second to none.

Visited The Huntsman on Saturday with a group of friends following a walk in the local area. The pub had a great atmosphere and the landlords were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely meal which was very good value for money and then enjoyed the sunshine in the beer garden. Well worth a visit!

Excellent fish and chips provided for 11 people at the time agreed. The landlords are very friendly, made everyone welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

This is the first time that we visited The Huntsman. When we entered we were welcomed immediately. a lovely atmosphere with a range of beers including Timothy Taylors, one of my favourites. We ordered lunch and thought their selection of food was good for the size of the pub. A lovely seating area, with clean tables and cutlery. Good value food as well with £12.00 for two. My Beef and ale pie was delicious and I liked the way the landlords asked whether we wanted anything such as more gravy. My wife had hunter's chicken, which was equally tasty, also my daughter's Lasagne.We all enjoyed our food and will go again. Everything a pub should be.

Me and the fiancee suddenly craved a Sunday dinner. We had a quick look online and found The Huntsman. We live in Selby, but it was worth the drive!

Eaten here 3 times this week, by ourselves, with friends and with family. We have all enjoyed truly scrumptious meals, all homemade. My hubby's favourite has to be the home made pie (either the chicken and leek or steak, he loves them both) im a vegetarian and the Peters have gone out of their way to ensure I have a variety of choices, the toad in the hole and the haloumi and home made chips are particularly good. It is so nice to walk into somewhere and feel at 'home' but that's is what the Peters have done to our little village pub. The Sunday lunches are a treat, no carvery and plentry of it, choice of meats, gluten free and veggie options, we are spoilt for choice, thank you both for giving us a smashing pub we love to go to.

You couldn’t ask for two better hosts than The Peter’s who are always have a warm welcome whenever I visit.

Returned to The Huntsman in Drax on Saturday night and once again was not disappointed. Firstly the two 'Petes' are welcoming hosts and make you feel at home from the off. The great value menu has something for everyone but a special mention has to go to the 'Pies' (Steak and Chicken and Leek', which my Pie Connoisseur husband has labelled as one of the best ever. If you're not full from your main course  you have to try one of 'Pixie's Puddings', a homemade selection of mouth watering desserts that are hard to resist. Finally, they have started doing Sunday lunch, which we haven't had time to try yet but which I have no doubt will match the other high quality offerings of The Huntsman. Keep up the good work Petes!

What a lovely place the two peters have made the Huntsman! So welcoming and friendly with gorgeous food to add! No better place to go for a surf & turf and the chicken Alfredo is highly recommended! Perfect to take the family too!

We are very lucky that the two Peters have come to our village and revitalised The Huntsman. The atmosphere in our pub is absolutely wonderful. They are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet, the food is really lovely, we have been through the whole menu now and can thoroughly recommend you come for a meal, however, I wouldn't want it to become too popular as it is our secret ha ha
