The New Bowling Green in Warwick

We chose The New Bowling Green as the venue for a special celebration with family. There were 22 of us so we pre-ordered and the food all came out very swiftly and nobody was left waiting for their food. All orders were correct and the food was delicious. We were allocated a section of the pub which felt very private and we were able to access this a little earlier to decorate the tables. The staff couldn’t have been anymore helpful in making our get together a huge success. Thank you Jess, Adam and all of your team.

That was the best meal out all 12 of us had marvelus food good atmosphere. Could not fault it we will definitely be going again soon thanks so much

A lovely tradition feel pub, with friendly staff, who delivered excellent service, when my family took me there for an early Mother's Day meal today 09-03-2024. There were five adults and three children. We enjoyed a side room to ourselves, where the children could be themselves. We were made to feel very welcome. The food was superb. All home cooked and very good value for money. Looking forward to going back there soon.

I just love it here. I would give it more stars if I could. The staff couldn't be nicer, the food and drinks are delicious, the price is reasonable and it's a lovely cosy place to be.

Only a small place, but very good meals at reasonable prices. Veggie lasagne and home made streak and red wine pie. Crumble could have been a bit more 'fruity'. Cheesecake was very generous portion. Lovely, attentive staff. Well worth a visit.

We visited this pub on a recent night out in Warwick, and after 4 bars found this to be the best in terms of service and drinks on offer, shame we arrived near last orders. Next time we'll be in earlier!

Very welcoming old pub, we stumbled upon this place and booked an evening meal for 6 of us. Food was delicious but the friendly staff are what makes this place extra special.

Went for after work drinks with colleagues, if it smells like a pub and it looks like a pub then it is a pub, I mean it is a ye olde style country pub with all the smells and century old walls and furniture but also with zero pretentious people and nice selection of beers, food and wine. Will certainly recommend. The only drawbacks are its size: in winter it is difficult to accommodate large groups. 22 of us took over half of the place, and lack of parking.

We went for Sunday lunch and it was okay. There was a lack of vegan options when compared with the menus online. The food was quick and tasty and there were a couple of decent desserts.

What a great pub, super food menu with a great choice of drinks. The service was good and the food was all very good indeed. The lamb cobbler comes highly recommended and the puddings all went down well, too well. An absolutely highly recommended place to eat in Warwick.

Tried out this pub for a meal on Saturday evening, whilst visiting Warwick for the weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful. The owner is also friendly. Food was excellent, so we returned for a roast dinner on Sunday evening. Slow cooked roast beef was delicious. Deserts also very good. Would recommend sticky toffee pudding! Already thinking about a return visit to Warwick so we can sample more of the menu 😋

We had the best experience here today and will definitely be returning! We booked to visit Warwick castle light trail as a Xmas family treat and decided last minute to book somewhere for a late lunch. Being a group of 9 we were not expecting many options for food however they fit us in. When we arrived we had a lovely cosy little area to ourselves and from the moment we walked in we were greeted with the most excellent customer service. The staff were so attentive and were very friendly with our 3 young children. Then there was the food!! Wow! Everything was freshly made and just the type of comfort food you look for this time of year. 5 out of 6 adults had the lamb cobbler which tasted amazing! So much flavour! The only thing that was missing was a wedge of crusty bread to lap up the scraps at the bottom of the pot! My partner had the marinated pan fried chicken and he said it was the yummiest meal he has had in a while and hasn’t stopped going on about it. The childrens menu was typical for a normal pub menu but we were surprised to see a mini lamb cobbler as a child’s option! The kids chose fish fingers and chips and the macaroni cheese which was all really good quality for children’s meals. They too thoroughly enjoyed their food. We all had puddings which were all delicious and all plates were left clean! We will definitely be returning very soon!

Lovely food, made from scratch. First time I've been in for a while. Had beef in red wine pie, full of tender meat and served with proper home made gravy. Great atmosphere, nice and relaxed with the fires roaring away. Highly recommend. Worth booking, we got lucky as a walk in!

We had a family Christmas get together here for 15 people. The service and food was outstanding. We pre ordered a week before which made everything so much easier on the day. The food as always was really delicious and all came out at the same time. All 15 people absolutely enjoyed their meals. All staff were very attentive and made sure everything went smoothly. Went with a friend for a Sunday roast lunch, spoilt for choice on the selection. Lovely meal followed by homemade mincepies and icecream. Malbec was lovely too followed by an earl grey tea. A roaring fire on a wet winter afternoon in an oldy worldy setting with beamed ceiling nicely decorated with Christmas decorations and lights. Excellent service with very attentive staff. This is a good value, homestyle cooking at it's best. (Parking just at the rear too). Highly recommend!

Quite cold on the day we went so expected the pub to have more fires going

I’ve been a couple of times at the weekend with my boyfriend and we always have the best experience here. It’s delicious food (especially the chicken burgers, roast dinners and the sticky toffee pudding!) and such a nice atmosphere. We especially love it at the moment with the cosy fire on and the twinkly Christmas lights overhead. It’s such a lovely atmosphere- we always end up staying ages and ordering dessert and more wine because we don’t want to leave. Easily our fave pub in Warwick!

Simply put, this is the best pub in Warwick. The welcome is always warm, the family who own and the people who work here are friendly, polite and go out of their way to get to know you. The food is excellent, proper home cooked nosh, presented well, good portions and proper tasty! The fish pie is the best I've eaten out. There's a good choice of beers, with some of the brewery's new brews on rotation. The people serving actively seek feedback about both the food and beer, keen to know if everything is up to scratch, it always is. Families and dogs are welcome, thought is very obviously put into making everyone welcome. There's a big beer garden for sunny days and a fire for colder spells. We love our visits to The New Bowling Green, congratulations and thank you to all who work there for making it what it is.

We come here a lot and it’s our fave Warwick pub to take the kids too. Great garden with garden games to play with the kids and backs straight on to St nicks park so you can make an afternoon of it. We treated ourselves to Sunday lunch the other weekend and it was delicious. We all had a pudding and they were huge and tasty. The meat was melt in the mouth and delicious. Staff were friendly and it’s got a great atmosphere.

Food & service here was amazing, for my starter I had the Camembert which is always delicious. For my main I had the Halloumi burger with fries which is give an 11/10 for! For dessert I had the warm chocolate brownie which is always good. I would highly recommend coming here for dinner, the food is always perfection & the service is the best.

This is a tough one to write. We really wanted to have a lovely meal to catch up with each other. The service was painfully slow. Everything had to be chased up. That said, the starter was lovely. We both had the Scotch egg. For mains, we both had lamb cobbler. It was tasty but I think I got the last portion out of the slow cooker as it was very low on meat compared to my husbands portion. Then we had pudding.... this is when it really went downhill. We both had cheesecake. We were about to tuck in when we noticed the rim was completely mouldy with blue mould. We quietly raised the issue to not cause a big uproar to be told it was normal?! It was a raspberry cheesecake. Raspberries are not blue and furry, in patches on the edge of food. We asked for the bill which again we had to chase to pay and to add insult to injury, the staff were eating the mouldy cheesecake behind the bar as we left!!! Such a shame.

We all had a great night. Also your communication skills are the best, making for every confidence to host a perfect night- which you did! You smashed it; we celebrated a special birthday in style!

Went here last night for a couple of drinks. The staff were very friendly and helpful, there weren't any tables free so they found us some bars stalls. Lovely pub will definitely go again.

Our new favourite local! The New Bowling Green has quickly become the only place we head to on the weekend. Less than 5 mins walk from both Warwick high street and St Nick's park, the place is perfect for a drink after work on a Friday and even better for grub on a Saturday/Sunday! Dog and child friendly, the place offers something for everyone and their garden is a lovely place to sit out in. Staff are welcoming and personable, and the new owners obviously take a lot of pride in what they are doing - keep up the good work!

We had a great lunch today. We went as a family to make the most of the £1 pasta offer. 3 adults enjoyed the chilli - 5 kids loved their pasta 2 kids had a full on melt down and we were not made to feel uncomfortable or unwanted! The pub has had a new lease of life under new ownership and has an exciting new menu that includes their famous and sought after homemade pies. They have a great selection of well kept and well poured beers. The atmosphere is fantastic thanks to the warm and friendly staff and patrons. This really is a hidden gem and one of Warwickshire’s best pubs!

We were concerned! Having enjoyed a terrific Sunday lunch a couple of months ago, would the same standard of service and taste and quality be the same under new ownership ? In short - Yes, yes & yes! Amongst a few familiar faces, the waiting & bar staff are super accommodating and we were soon seated and perusing the menu. 'Proper pies' ? High stakes marketing! Being pie connoisseurs, we plumped for one each of the 'Chicken, Leek & Bacon' and 'Steak & Ale'. I'm laughing now - imagining the disbelieving rolling eyes of you, the Reader - but as a committed reviewer, intent on and committed to honest & discerning evaluation, l'm confidently stating now that nowhere on earth will you find a better pie ! Nowhere !! Jess (new Owner ) told us how her childhood had been steeped in baking and she was delighted therefore that her pastry recipe was so well received by our delighted tastebuds! Beyond this, each pie was packed with quality ingredients, all expertly mixed & stirred to potent effect! We kept looking at each other! No words! Just home cooking heaven!

This pub is absolutely fantastic. The food we had was to die for. We had the steak and ale pie with mash and peas. So, so tasty. The bar staff were superb, very helpful and friendly. Totally recommend this to everyone.

Probably the best bowl of chips I have ever tasted!

Ordered drinks for my son and I, and the lady (or gentleman, to be respectful) did not exchange one word. Once removing my card she/he walked of. Not sure a transaction could have been more unpleasant without actual insults. Very toxic and usual. Not something I'd pay for again.

What a little gem in the middle of town. The garden at the back was great and the hot dogs are not to be missed! Friendly staff, you don't feel rushed- nice!

A splendid pie collection. The pork, Apple and Blackpudding was the choice of the evening and was rather tasty. But, Wish I had gone for the steak and ale. Large beer garden, with loads of tables. Not a massive draft beer selection but a cosy, friendly wee bar I would visit again if I venture through Warwick again in the future.

Have been here twice for the amazing pies. Once with our fitness group and of course we had to come back again ,if only for the best pie & mash I have had in ages. Would highly recommend you pop in for a pie & a pint. The staff are lovely and very attentive.

Pleasant experience from both staff and food - atmosphere. The floor needs a little care but I already see it like that in other shops, it's something like a culture.

Below average burgers in the garden for which we had to wait close to 1 hour and a half. During the coronation weekend so that may be an excuse, but still.

The VEGAN Sunday lunch is amazing! The vegan options are incredibly well thought out and are absolutely delicious. We had the seitan with additional cauliflower cheeze and vegan Yorkshire pudding. Even better- dogs are welcome too! Make sure you book in advance as they get super busy.

If you're looking for a good pie and mash (or chips) around Warwick, this is the place to go. The selection of pies is incredible with veggie and vegan options available. There's also a good selection of pub grub if you're not feeling like a pie. The pub has a cosy atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful too.

Great service great food dropped 1 star because the music. You don’t go out socializing to listen to others choice of music and so load most of diners were all trying to talk above the noise. We want to sit down as group and talk not shout PLEASE remove speakers from dinning area.

Pies are amazing and service is excellent. Sadly looks the the brewery don’t appreciate what they have and it’ll be under new management in 2023 - so get there while you still can.

Having visited the castle we was doing the glow walk so we had a couple of hours free so we decided to eat at this pub and have to say the roast was perfect good service and well priced as well will definitely come again!
