We were 14 people from 5 yrs old to 87yrs old. We had a private room for dinner. We had preordered which was a very easy process. The staff were lovely polite and professional. All the food arrived quickly and we could all eat at the same time. We had a range of food of the menu. Everything was lovely, presented well and cooked excellently. The portions were good. Our only fault was one dish which was called Steak Bavette the only words for this dish was ' disgusting ' never have we ever tasted such a vile taste. It was put back . We were offered another steak which was declined. Never order this steak!. However everything else was superb. Such a shame. We still had a lovely time though and would recommend ' The Neuk ' . Prices were very reasonable as well.

**DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. Words can not even describe how disgusting the food at this establishment is. Hands down the worst meal I have ever had and the 'chef' should be ashamed of themselves. I will start with the Pattie starter which consisted of 2 circles of anemic chunky mince mixed together with plain tattie. There was zero seasoning, zero crisp and zero refinement. It looked, smelled and tasted of dog food from a tin. The main event of the 'chefs' spicy burrito was so bad I thought Ant and Dec might jump out as it was a prank. The burrito was so tiny a small child would have complained, it had the classic anemic mince with not even a hint of flavour and was finished with plain soggy rice. They didn't even bother to toast it. This place isn't cheap at all - so expect fork out to get the prison canteen experience.

Visited on folk music night. It was excellent! Beer was good and atmosphere was grand, thanks to the players. Shame that some guests were VERY loud, including when music was playing.

Dishes were hot and tasty and the service was good and quick. We had dinner there twice in the evening.

Absolutely worthless. Coffee takes 20 minutes and a pizza takes 1 hour? Then you get your food it is a frozen pizza that has been in the oven for 3 minutes. In addition, the sandwich is like dog food and dry as a desert. Gross, dry and absolutely not recommended! For all traveling Dutch people, don't go here ;)

We found the Neuk Restaurant by sheer luck when looking for somewhere to eat and so glad we did find it. It is a friendly, welcoming place to visit where the food is delicious and the staff are very helpful. Enjoyed it so much we returned for another evening meal.

I have been in 3 times for lunch and once for dinner. The service from staff has always been very good but food sub-par with lack of attention to detail. After being disappointed by the lasagne on a previous visit I decided to try a pizza this time. Sadly the place does not use fresh dough for pizza but rather had toppings on a part- baked pizza base like those you can buy from the supermarket. Lack of effort means I likely won't be back. There are better places in Kirkwall.

We had to reserve tables for two night, although we were stay át the moter hotel. Both cases we got bad seats, although the restaurant was half empty. On the second occasion the waitress educated me, that it is because we arrived 30 minutes early than reserved. I suggested that we go up and come back as scheduled if we get a proper table. The "kind" waitress told me, that it is not possible, because that is not economic for them. The fist evening we had onrkney fish plate that was delicious, but it was not mentioned on the menu and by the waitress that it is a cold plate. The lamb casserol was not a casserol but a stew, otherwise it was good. The second evening we had a fish and chips that was good. We also ate a chiken skewer, that was half and dry. I asked for some sauce, and by the time I got it the dish was completely cold and dry. The waitress handled me as an inpolite child, athough she might be ten years younger, than my daughter

We were not guests in the hotel and hadn't booked but were easily accommodated. Lovely Balmoral roast pork (with haggis and mushroom sauce) and veg. Good value for money. Appeared to have only one member of staff front of house; luckily it was a quiet day. Tasty food and attentive staff.

I had some work to do, so was able to get quiet table and wifi access, AND a very decent lamb roast. All good

This review only relates to the bar in this establishment. We were actually looking for somewhere to have lunch, but unfortunately food was not available. There were few other customers but we did stay and have some drinks. There does not appear to be any recent reviews, but we felt that the lack of atmosphere in the bar during our visit and comparatively dark decor would not encourage us to return.

We went here twice in our one week stay and loved it all. The food was great and the customer service was excellent. Wish we could eat here more often but New Zealand is to far away.

Everything was AMAZING! Being Catholic means no flesh meat on a Friday (lard & shortening fine though) and I’m highly sensitive to seed oils aka vegetable oils. I take my hunt for quality, traditional, cancer-free fish and chips VERY seriously and drove an extra 2.5 hours the week before for beef dripping fish and chips. So when I did my research and found out that they cooked in Tallow, I knew that the coming Friday’s dinner was taken care of! And boy, was i positively DELIGHTED to be in Orkney on a Friday while travelling for two months from Australia. Because I got to indulge in this goodness! Usually Fridays are a struggle as most places cook with toxic cancer vegetable oils and nothing beats a classic fish and chips for a Friday. This place was quick, offered great service and was DELICIOUS. I absolutely loved my meal and have saved it so that when I get back to Scotland, I can revisit.
