So sorry but just had a takeaway and it was not good at all. Curry sauces very runny and strange colours. Two Kheema naans completely different. Vegetable dishes a bit mushy

This must be the best Indian restaurant around Hertfordshire I really don’t know another one like it The food is top notch and the service is amazing Why this place is heaving I just can’t figure

We ordered a takeaway from The Nag's Head on Friday evening. We are quite a way out from them so had to pay a small £2.00 extra delivery charge. It was certainly worth it! The food arrived quickly and was still hot. Great service and absolutely delicious food. Cannot recommend enough. We now plan to visit the restaurant. Excellent!!

We had our first experience of the Indian food on offer in the Nags Head last night. Starters, Mains & Service spot on. Delicious & well cooked food , Cobra hit the spot. We Look forward to a revisit. Well done.

Wonderful Indian cuisine restaurant. Charming traditional village pub setting. The food was excellent and good value for money. My friend asked for a dish not on the menu and this was made to order for her. The staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. We were also offered a complimentary drink when we received the bill. We will definitely visit again.

Second visit and again was not disappointed. The food is incredible, the service outstanding and friendly staff who continuously check in during the meal. Best Indian by far!

Staying at a campsite and this pub was in the local village. Turned out not only was it a Green King pub but also an Indian restaurant! What’s not to like? We took a table in the pub bar as we had our dog with us. Looked at the menu and they didn’t have my go to meal of Chicken Jalfrezi so I chose Garlic Chicken Chilli Massala….. WOW! I can honestly say it was the best curry I’ve had in years! My wife had a chicken Tikka main which was also excellent. The pub is an old inn circa 1595 and has plenty of olde worldly charm. If I had one criticism it would be the electronic Muzak that was playing in the background but it would not stop me going there again and I still give it 5 stars!

The pub for the last six months now serves Indian food in two areas that are set up as a restaurant with white linen tablewear but have retained another area where this is used as a public bar for those just wanting a drink and dogs are made very welcome in this area only. There are many seating areas outside at the front on the pub and in the back well maintained garden. The owners are keen to retain the feel of the village traditional pub together with a smart restaurant. The staff were very warm and friendly and the food was excellent. We were looked after the whole evening and offered complimentary drinks after our meal.

Incredible food and service in a beautiful village pub. The staff were so welcoming, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and fresh (one of the best I have had). Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Wow! What a treat coming out of lockdown and dining here. We came across this pub on a walk a few months ago and I was so excited to get a table booked on the first week of opening. Lovely staff. DELICIOUS food (I had the swordfish) Beautiful secret garden. Couldn’t of asked for more. So glad to see you guys are open and doing well and can’t wait to book again!!

I have been to the Nags Head once before on a Saturday evening and was very impressed so decided to return with family for a Sunday Lunch. We were a party of 6 and were sat in the little nook at the back of the restaurant which was perfect. The staff and service was friendly and Just the right amount of contact. Social distancing was in place with a one way system and table service but there was still a lovely ambience. The food was absolutely fantastic. We all had the Sunday roast which was beef or lamb. The roasties were great, as were the vegetables, roast parsnip, Yorkshires and gravy! A few of us had puddings and they were wonderful, not much choice but something to appeal to everyone. Lovely local beers too.All round a fantastic visit and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a special family or friends meeting spot with great food and drink.

Absolutely fabulous place. Food excellent, service excellent, ambience excellent. Beautiful location and a really lovely garden area. I love this pub/restaurant it’s the best in a large area and I’ll be going back asap.

We wanted somewhere to have dinner on the way back from Newmarket and phoned the pub. The kitchen normally closes at 5pm, but as we were having problems getting there because of a detour, they kindly kept it open for us and gave us directions how to get there. The food and beer were delicious too.

Had a great meal out last night and would thoroughly recommend. The local beer was wonderful and a small but great wine list will not disappoint.I had the chicken wings to start, pork chop with rhubarb for the main, served on the pink side which was spot on. Last night, we had the most amazing take away of starters and main courses, the selection was really varied and excellent, the food delicious. Thoroughly recommend.

Visited last night and had the porterhouse steak to share, genuinely the best steak I have ever eaten served with delicious triple cooked chips and sides. Great service and atmosphere, cant recommended enough!

Love it here, the staff are soo lovely and the food is unreal. Also had a vegan on the table and they were really well catered for! (Side note our waitress also said there would be more choice if we called ahead but there was still plenty) Really enjoyed would highly recommend :)

My partner and I work long days with different shifts and had been told great things about the nags head, they have been proved correct! It was late midweek, but it could have been the weekend as the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food, wow the food!! It’s a must try for all food lovers. A real country gem.

Not disappointed by my time spent time looking for good traditional pubs .the Nags Head had all you could want could want . very welcoming staff, first class food we had Fish &Chips the batter was outstanding covering very nice white fishWe visited in January so we could not use the most excellent garden just a bit nippy but will return again in the warmer weather and enjoy again the food in the garden

Lovely pub, the food not so good!Set in a pretty village a few miles from Bishops Stortford We arrived early, so it wasn’t busy!We all choose different meals from the menu, roast beef, lamb and sausages The food looked good, but tasted weird!The potatoes where still hard and tasted like the oil they’d been cooked in was off!The mash appeared to be from a packetThe red cabbage was cooked in cinnamon, not nice!!!!Despite leaving most of the food we were not asked if our food was ok?Doubt we would go back!

Well 19 of us were hoping for a lovely pre-xmas luncheon, but we were unfortunately somewhat disappointed.We pre-ordered from the set menu as requested, but although we found 19 places duly laid out, there was apparently only food for 17(blamed on poor communication with the kitchen) This error was quickly rectified thankfully. We were then charged a grossly excessive fee for corkage, for some wine one of the guests brought along, and then to add insult to injury they tried to add a 10% service fee to that as well.The food was very average and several guests complained to me about the overcooked beef pies and the poor fig dessert, In saying that however my choices were O.K.Although included in the price, we had to ask for the coffee/tea and mince pies which took 25 minutes to arrive, by which time 4 of our group had had to leave.Overall he staff were polite and generally helpful but it was a mediocre lunch spoiled in part by a degree of Nickle & Diming, to use an American phrase. .

Me and my partner visited a couple weeks back for pie night and without a doubt will be returning! This was a loverly pub, nice and cosy and the pies we had were amazing and at a great price on the Tuesday pie night. We had chicken and ham and there was no scrimping on the meat and the pasty was very very good. One of the best pies I’ve ever had

big family Sunday lunch here, food is amazing, from starters all the way through to coffees. I can not recommend this place any higher, its superb! my mother is in a wheelchair so i can vouch that they are wheelchair accessible and a bonus dog friendly!!

We called here due to traffic jams today on the M11. Was a good choice. It's an old pub but doesn't feel it. There is a beer garden and then a secret garden higher up with a fence pottered with attractive hanging baskets and other plants. I had beef shin which jut fell apart and my wife had tasty pulled pork and fries. Couple of drinks and we were happy bunnies. No problems with the staff and the landlady was friendly. It made the 200 mile journey back home much easier.

We’ve been here quite a few times recently and have always loved it but our last visit was disappointing. We’d taken friends and were a little underwhelmed. The menu wasn’t as interesting as usual, a bit basic. The waitress was friendly but essentially clueless, she didn’t know what lager they offered, the wine was plonked on the table with the lid on and again when we ordered a second bottle. She asked my husband if he’d like ice in his after dinner brandy! No side plate was offered to put the bones on from the Lemon Sole so it made eating it quite difficult! The Specials board was on the wall in the other room so I had to keep running backwards and forwards to tell everyone what there was, it would have been nice if the waitress could have told us. The side dish of buttered vegetable turned out to be roasted parsnips, roasted new potatoes and chopped up green beans but my Sole already came with potatoes and the parsnips didn’t really go so was a bit of a waste of money. Not sure if the Chef/Owner was away that night but it was nowhere near as good as we’ve experienced before. On the plus side the guys enjoyed their food, like I said, not awful just disappointing to spend £160 and feel like it could of been so much better.

Super roast lamb with all trimmings, delicious dark chocolate tart, a pint of Speckled Hen, pretty waitresses, what could be better for a Sunday lunch?

My partner and I cam here one Saturday for lunch after a lovely walk and we couldn't fault anything. From the minute we arrived were greeted with such helpful and friendly members of staff. The food was delicious. Love the fact they have games in the pub that you can use too! I'm coming back with friends on Sunday!

My husband and daughter popped in for a drink and waited to be served. The 3 staff completely ignored them. When he asked he was told to wait a minute.

Sipping a pint of cider in the secret garden of the Nag Head in the late afternoon sun is (very close to) being perfectly happy.

After a walk nearby, we called in for a light lunch. Although it was very busy and there were no seats inside, we were able to sit in the sunshine and share several small plates - all of which we enjoyed. Service was friendly and very good

Well, I have been impressed again. The food was out of this world. I had the hot chilli wings, which were packed with flavour. For main I had the Shepherds pie and OMG it just melted in your mouth. Amazing. To finish I had the fondant and it was delicious. Staff are nice and good service. All round thumbs up.

Staff very helpful and accommodating but I really resented paying £13.50 for a bowl of mushroom fusilli! Dried pasta from a bag which probably cost a pound. Never mind that mushroom pasta is usually made with tagliatelle. And the mushrooms were undercooked. Atmosphere was nice and would go back for a drink but we wouldn't eat there again.

There were 6 of us for lunch on Mother’s Day and I must say we had a great time at The Nags Head. The staff were kind and very accommodating, service was friendly, there was a great selection of food, the pricing was reasonable and the atmosphere was great. It’s nice that they have a separate bar area for drinkers with hight tables and an area for food. We’ve been here a few times now and it is the most reliable pub around. We know we will always get great food with new things on the menu all the time! Cannot recommend this pub enough!

OMG, it wows me again. This place is incredible. Let's just say they set the standards high with an amazing Fish Friday. To start I had a wonderful fishcake served on a base of exquisite homemade lemon mayo. Next, for my main, I had a delicious pan roasted Coley which was cooked to perfection (Good job Chefs). Finally, to finish I had there all new Doughnuts, This made Krispy Kreme look like amateurs. WOW!!!!!

Fantastic pub, friendly service and cracking ales. Food looks fabulous, although I haven’t eaten here since the new owners have taken over, I’ll definitely be back for food and more great beer.

Very accommodating at last minute for a table of 7. Menu isn't huge but well thought out. good, local, well cooked offerings. We all left very satisfied. defiantly be returning

The choice is interesting, well cooked and good portions. The pricing is very good .The waiting staff are very friendly and helpful. Desserts are a bit inconsistent. If you go for the crumble get two spoons, it's served in a cereal bowl and there's plenty for two.

I was in the area dropping to see a friend in Albury Hall Park, and on my way back I wanted to stop for a bite and looked on Google for a good local pub type of food and thought why not, the Nags Head sounds like a laugh.

After a country walk we came across this pub, a quick check of My Good Pub Guide app showed that it was recommended - we were not disappointed.

I should not write this but the food is wonderful it’s not just the meal it’s brought to your table with very fine staff nothing is to much trouble. It was a small celebration but we were placed near another table with a big celebration but we were given the same service, but let’s go back to the food because as I write this page I can taste the food again, but will I be able to book in this pub again but I will return.

This was our third visit , the previous visits were good , we were so pleased to have such a pleasant local pub at long last . However we returned today and were very disappointed- the environment and staff were still both excellent it was the food that was lacking . The pigeon to start with was good , well cooked until you added the sauce which was tasteless and spoilt the dish .

Have revisited as this hostelry is under new managment,excellent service,food average,but expensive when compared to other hostelrys in local area,will come again,but needs to improve on present performance.

We’ve visited the Nags head several times since it’s under new management. Completely different to what it previous was; modern pub dining with fun quirky dishes. Refreshing to get a really nice quality meal just around the corner. Recently had the arancini and chicken wing starters which were fantastic!!

Since Joe and Jack have taken over we eat at the Nags head weekly!

Really refreshing country pub, great food well priced - landlord Jo is the chef, business partner Jack is front of house. Friendly welcome from magnificent staff. Opened up a nice court yard garden at the back to add to the tables at the front. We have eaten there several times as a family and it is worth the trip.

4 of us visited this restaurant on Saturday night and were impressed. The decor is fab and the staff were lovely. We had the halloumi fries and scotch egg and these were amazing! Loved the special mayos which accompanied them. The mains were average which is why there are only 4 stars. Will definitely return again to try different mains as loved the style of cooking.

We joined friends for Sunday Lunch and were full of geat expectation. The food really was not great though the location quite delightful on a warm sunny day.

I have been eating at the Nags Head for 40 years. Previously there were many dishes and ~ 4 types of steaks . All these came with chips plus peas or salad. Earlier this week I visited, last time being Dec. 2016. There was only one type of steak (ribeye) costing £24. Came with a bowl of chips and cress and had gravy on it. The reason this pub has historically been popular was for good food at good prices. After last week I shall not eat there again. Thus said, the service was good but is obviously under new management. Fewer customers who they charge more!

We came with a friend expecting a lot. I had a pulled pork. The pork was a tasteless mush, to small I thought it was from the children menu.

The food was perfectly cooked and so tasty. I think they were the best chips and mash we have ever tasted!

We visited on Sunday for the first time and must say, what a lovely Gastro Pub.

This is the type of place that you really want to find on a rainy bank holiday Sunday or on a lovely summers day.

We used to enjoy going to The Nags Head for family get-togethers.

Visited with my other half this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our evening! They have a good selection of wines to choose from at reasonable prices and the food menu had a really nice variety of dishes to choose from. The staff were all so friendly and happy to explain any questions we had about the menu. The food came out beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked! We were so full after our mains but noticed the banana split on the table next to us so had to order. We weren’t disappointed. We can’t wait to visit during the winter and have a big glass of red wine with great food in a cosy village pub!

This popular pub has been refurbished and offers a range of excellent meals. Servivcce is excellent. Sunday lunch gives specials in addition to the standard favourites. Our lemon sole was superb. No carpark but ample road parking. Tables outside also

Visited for lunch with family and our two children. Pub looks great, bar and serving staff were really friendly and helpful and our lunch was delicious- the chef even made sandwiches especially for our two children which weren’t on the menu. The steak was really delicious as was the banana split for desert. Highly recommend for a top quality lunch or dinner we will be back!

Haven’t been to The Nags Head for a few years and heard that it had recently been taken over so decided to visit with friends last weekend. What an absolute gem! The interior is fresh, inviting and classy and the secret garden is a great touch. Can’t believe this hadn’t been used by previous owners! The staff were all so friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. And the food! The food was incredible and easily above the quality of many London restaurants. The new owners have done a brilliant job and we wish them every success. We will definitely be back. keep up the good work!

Well, the food was amazing and the service was great. To start I had halloumi fries off the bar snack menu, which they very kindly did for a starter. For my main, I had fish & chips. Both of these dishes tasted like a 3 Michelin star chef cooked them. So very well done to them. And to finish I had their famous Sticky Toffee Pudding which was out of this world. Would fully recommend to anyone you see. Also, the celebrity of Little Hadham Joe Clarke came and had a picture with us. Absolutely brilliant!!

After booking a table for 2pm we arrived and were guided to a very small table at the back of the restaurant where by my wife was seated to the side of me and where felt like we were sitting on each other's laps this was despite tables in the main bar area being free which we suggested however we were told we were not allowed to sit there.

Visited today after full refurbish in the last couple of months. Great new look to the pub, very friendly bar and serving staff and really good food. Ordered the burger which was outstanding and the Onglet steak with truffle and Parmesan fries. Outstanding!

A hidden gem well worth seeking out people! Great food Great Ale and Wine list Great service and super refurbishment just shows how new management can rejuvenate and inspire in local pub. Super value too!

We were passing by and stopped for lunch, wow! You could taste every element, the food was superb, inventive and delicious.

Being a retired Publican I’ve been told I can be quite fussy and my attention to detail is overly annoying for my other half.

Our first visit to the Nags Head in about five years and how it has improved! The new owners have changed the menu and are serving first class food. We sat outside and were served by a very helpful young lady. We ordered one fresh fish and chips which was beautifully presented with amazing triple cooked chips and small pot of mushy peas. Lovely and hot garnished with half a roasted fresh lemon, delicious! My husband had the Pork cheeks and creamy mash potato, roasted beetroot. Being a retired chef he appreciated the presentation and amazing flavours of the dish. He is very fussy and he said how delightful the dish was. He wants to go back again next week to taste some other dishes as we found the menu very interesting. We wish the new owners every success.Keep up the good work.

Out of the way proper country pub with and excellent menu. Varied choices all perfectly cooked. Great service and a banana split dessert to die for - an absolute must!

New owners of the Nags Head who have a great local reputation as chefs so we thought we would try out their new venture.

We have been going to the Nags Head for probably around 10 years now and sadly Paul and Natalie (previous) landlords had had enough - We wish we had of known you were leaving and would have liked to say goodbye to you both - you were lovely landlords and never (in all the ten years) did we ever have a bad meal. So now the Nags Head has new owners and they have given the pub a very smart spruce up - loving all the new bits and pieces and still love the way the pub is. However......everyone is used to the portion sizes (HUGE!!) that Paul and Natalie used to give and I really do think that the new owners need to address this. We have been a few times and the food is beautiful, really tasty and beautifully cooked but there is not enough of it - mainly because of the history of the pub.

This was always a favourite of ours until recently. We looked forward to the offerings of the new owners as the make over looked appealing and up to date.

Lucky Little Hadham , the new tenants of The Nags Head have brought it right up to date, not just in the fresh light and airy interior or the super cool courtyard areas but in the superb food they are serving.

We popped in on our bikes for a light Sunday snack - fishcake and Cromer crab on sourdough toast washed down with a beer perfect for hot thirsty cyclists. The refurbishment is brilliant and opening up the back garden has provided plenty of places to sit in sun or shade. Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food what more could you ask for.

Have not been to this pub for years but was not disappointed .It recently has under gone a refurb and looks great .On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome staff were very friendly and polite. Good choice of food on menu .Food was well presented and plenty great flavour . Located in a lovely village . Staff were hospitable and professional in their roles.

If you only go for the fish and chips you will be amazed at the size of the portion, flavour and hospitality of the staff. These guys have just got the right balance for a local pub with a broader appeal that pleases everyone.

We came down from Yorkshire to visit this place for my birthday, was absolutely lovely, great menu but we opted for the Sunday lunch, staff were great as was the food, desserts are to die for. Would come again when we come back down. Thank you everyone for making my day go as planned.

Our first visit wasn't great, although not many in restaurant we didn't get very good service and nobody came to collect dessert orders after 30 minutes so we paid at bar and left. Second visit WOW totally redeemed themselves food was amazing, I had lamb bourginon pie with mash and veg it was a very good sized portion, deep filled and tasted amazing! Looking forward returning again!

My favorite pub to eat in the area always great food very generous portions. Paul and Natalie are always so welcoming proper publicans. Great choice of fish and the desserts board is always full lots of enticing choices. A must visit for Sunday lunch.

A group of us had a very pleasant lunch in this friendly pub. It was a chilly day and the area where we were seated was a little cold for our liking. Our food was served promptly and all agreed was delicious.

Went for Dinner on the recommendation of some friends. We were warmly greeted and immediately seated in the Restaurant which had a nice atmosphere. Service was polite and friendly. Food was very good Calamari, Garlic Prawns for starters. Fish & Chips were very good and also the Salmon Fish Cakes. Desert also very good. A very enjoyable meal.

A pesar de Tripadvisor diciendo que estaba cerrado, nos encontramos un amable Paul detrás del bar y un pub. Disfrutamos de una preciosa asado de cordero, uno y otro de Turquía. Muy bien cocinados y presentados junto con una copa de pinot Rose, así que teníamos una sed caminamos. Terminamos con un pastel de jengibre y un budín de pan y manteca. Recomendado.
