The Mulberry Tree in Breckland

We booked a family meal here for 6 people on Saturday 22nd May 2021. We were a little apprehensive as we had booked an outside table and the weather looked dull, however we were sat under their large wooden canopy which had several heat lamps so it was fine. Food was great and service was very friendly.

Lovely lunch for four of us! Camembert was a lovely starter definitely a good one to share! Cod cheeks lovely! Burgers a good size and flat iron was cooked incredibly well! Will definitely be back Thankyou for a great lunch! Waitresses both very helpful.

Having stayed here a couple of times for work now I think this is a great place to stay in Attleborough. The rooms are really well appointed and food is excellent. Both times I’ve been most impressed with their service, always friendly and personal. Thanks

I have visited the restaurant 3 times, the food fab, the service fab, cleanliness fab, procedures fab. A great place all round.

We visited on the first week for eat out. We just had mains and drinks after having lokked at the very scaled down menu which offered little choice. Weall plumped for 3 burgers that did have 4 variations. One just a cheese burger and one with bacon, mayo type sauce and fried onions. Weasked for extra bacon on the cheese burger and no suace on one of the others. Burgers came out the cheese burger was fine ut the othe two came with cheese ?? I dont mind the cheese but the wife does not like we informed th waiterss whom replied that it comes with cheese despite this not actually stating this on the menu; not that we are but some people have a dairy intolerance so to not sate dairy as part of the meal is a bit confusing.All in all the burgers were very dissapointing no flavour or seasoning, the mayo sauce was quite frankly awful and the cheese was cheap as chips cheese that just went solid. All three burgers were half eaten and we decidied to just pay and go.Staff were ok but not very attentive so all in all a very moot experiance. Shame as we are local and have been before and it was very nice so not sure what happened this time. We will give another go

Even in these strange times the owners and staff make you welcome and make your time there a relaxing occasion, unlike some other eateries and shops at the moment, having said that I feel that they do everything necessary to keep staff and customers safe without being obvious. I have visited the Mulberry Tree 3 times in the last 2 weeks and the dishes have all been excellent in taste and portion size, the menu is smaller than pre Covid but a good selection non the less. I have had the chicken caesar salad once and the salmon dish twice as it is so tasty. The puddings are the best I know and a real luxury. Will keep supporting The Mulberry Tree and would recommend all to do so too.

Mulberry Tree has a comfortable atmosphere, the restaurant area for a special occasion or you just fancy a meal out. The bar area and garden has a more casual atmosphere. Both areas are very welcoming and the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We recently went for an rare evening out (no children), it was a delight as we could sit and talk and the staff gives us the right amount of attention. The food is perfect every time. My husband and I both had steak this time and it was cooked perfectly, the chocolate pudding we shared was scrumptious.

Our lunch today was superb. We both had the chicken breast dish which was delicious, with an interesting blend of of complementary flavours. The desserts also reflected the high standard of flavour combination and accomplished cooking. This reflects a love of the industry and a respect for paying customers - something that is often hard to find.

Superb food..best desserts I've ever had, service is faultless. I'm a fussy person but nothing was lacking! I can't wait to come back..will be my 4th time for my partner's birthday. Thank you..the Mulberry Tree 👍

We arrived for a lunchtime meal as we haven't been here for a few years (as we had relocated) but the service was a good as we had remembered.All staff were welcoming and polite and the decor clean and modernThe menu caters for all dietary requirements and the food was delicious and superbly presented Cannot fault and highly recommended

The food at The Mulberry Tree was lovely however our experience was tainted by below average customer service from one of the young front of house staff. We weren’t made to feel very welcome and we were given a look as if we were intruding. We had our table booked for 8pm, however we did arrive early to have a drink. Once being ID by the fairly rude bar staff (who was also our waitress) we got told we weren’t allowed to sit in the bar. We than got shown to our table and got the choice to order within 5 minutes or order an hour later. Overall our experience wasn’t up to standard and think there is much needed staff training - coming from myself who has ran a Restaurant/Pub.

Service slow and staff frosty when asked , limited menu, nice food when it arrived Now very expensive for small dishes.

The food is generally good to very good, the service good, the welcome poor, but the noise throughout is appalling; with few soft furnishings and hard painted walls background noise just seems to get amplified to unbearable levels. We try to support local business but not again.

I have been here a few times and always enjoyed the food and options available......sadly not this time :( Asked for the vegan options and had to wait for a menu to be printed off and got told I should have rang ahead - I never had to before and had plenty of choice, but this time got a poor menu - I said that I had been in December to which I got ‘we have lots of leftovers in December so we use them for the vegan options’ which I thought was a rather strange reply to give......to be fair they did say they could go and ask the kitchen for something else, but I quite fancied a bowl of soup so asked for that as a main.....I was not expecting to pay £12 for a bowl of soup! I queried this and got told it was because it was twice the size of the starter which I find hard to believe. The vegan options aren’t much cheaper than the meat options and don’t take as long either.Sad, as I’ve always enjoyed my visits but not sure I’ll bother returning after made to feel like I’m not worthy of eating anything other than ‘leftovers’.

Visited this place with my partner just after Christmas 2019. We live in London and I used to have very similar place myself 10 years ago in Northampton with my friend. I was impressed by simple yet excellent menu that this place has to offer. I highly recommend this restaurant. The Mulberry Tree’s owners Phillip and Victoria Milligan have applied to Breckland Council for permission to build the new three-bedroom homes on the site just south of the hotel in Station Road. I wish them all the best!

went here the night before our son went off on his travels. I have some dietry requirements that i didnt have when visiting here before but this meant i had to ask for menu changes - they couldnt have been more helpful and were apologetic that the options were limited! They said that next time we go to call ahead and they will provide more options.The food we had was delicious - everyone thoroughly enjoyed theirs. The fishcake starter was a meal in itself and the burgers were immense!Will definitely be returning

We have been regulars here since Phil and Vicky have been hosts about 16 years never had a bad meal ingredients and quality are of 5 star rating , the service and attention to detail are second to none with courteous and professional staff, although we’ve not used the accommodation our family have and speak very highly of it

We booked a meal here on a Saturday night while visiting relatives, all we can say is fantastic! Great service, friendly staff, fantastic food and we will be returning, We had a lovely welcome when we arrived and it continued all evening, best meal we have had in a long while, as for the blood orange vodka and lemonade ,well what can I say but superb!!

Second visit and everything was just as lovely as my previous visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. Thanks for a great night.

We had a wonderful surprised celebrations with our daughters and their partners to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary.

We have been going to the Mulberry tree for years.....it literally is a 10 min walk from our house. Which means we’re very lucky as it is the best place to eat and drink in Attleborough and possibly Norfolk!

We were out with friends for a catch up dinner and it was absolutely the right place to go.

We were taken here by some friends. Our first visit. It was great. Warm welcome, varied menu and great range of beers and wines. The food was tasty and substantial portions. Really lovely. Thank you.

We were visiting friends and decided to eat here early on a Saturday evening. There was a friendly welcome and we were shown to a table in the back. It was a little quieter but still had a good atmosphere. Between us we ordered a selection of starters and mains including duck leg, cod cheeks and sea bream, followed by burger, pork belly, chicken ballotine and trout. We agreed that all of the dishes were very good. There was a decent choice of drinks and I enjoyed the rioja served by the glass. We were quite full but managed desserts. Again they were all good and nicely presented. Service throughout was very professional and friendly. Overall we enjoyed the evening and would recommend this place.

I'd like to start by saying the front of house are completely faultless and that the first time I came with my partner it was amazing came in on monday burger night was spot on absolutely faultless ...second time everything over cooked waitress still faultless an gave a percentage off the bill fair enough and loved the staff and atmosphere but I know it sounds not picking but if you are are gonna state something on the menu and it doesn't come out on the food it's a little bit annoying an I dont wanna be awkward so though I'll leave it maybe its just a mistake but it's now happened 5 timew in a row and I was in yesterday for the sixth time and yet again ordering trailer trash on the burger menu which states bacon mac n cheese 6th time no bacon in it what so ever and out of the 6 times I've came there either forgotten onion rings or over cooked burger no bacon just a slight bit frustrating as your paying for something stated which your not receiving I'm not one to be funny but I will always be polite please and thankyou and tip everytime I come , I just feel it is very inconsistent, maybe invite back and show us how it's done probably like the first time I came here thankyou .....

First time my partner and I have been, we met friends for dinner there.

Black olive gnocchi is one of the best starters I have ever had. My main were cod & crab cakes, delicious. My husband had cod cheek & black pudding to start followed by pork belly. All of the food was amazing. We love to come here, in five years we have never been disappointed!

Regularly come here as it’s always amazing. The food is delicious, and presented so well. Cocktails are lovely and the staff are always smiley, friendly and welcoming. Visited twice in 4 days once for lunch, would recommend the Greek salad the mint in it makes it so light and refreshing. Then again for dinner a few days later, the flat iron steak was cooked perfectly and the desserts were divine.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times in the past and twice in the last few weeks. One visit was a catch up with a friend in the pub garden with a sharing platter - it was delicious and just right for two (so much so that we both dashed off to the supermarket afterwards, to buy the ingredients in order to replicate the dish at home)! The second recent visit was a family Birthday lunch. The Mulberry Tree is not the cheapest place to eat but in this case you really do get what you pay for. The food is consistently of a good standard and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I would recommend eating here.

Out and about with our friends, on a miserable wet day, we arrived at the Mulberry, and were instantly, made welcome by the friendly staff. We had a superb Lunch, and not overpriced, a stand out starters the prawn & Crayfish salad was excellent, and for me the main course Chicken Caesar salad equally as good. The surroundings are neat and tidy, clearly recently refurbished, with very comfortable seating, important if you want to chat over a long lunch. All the staff, were pleasant and courteous, we left feeling brighter inside, and ready to face the rain outside, we will certainly return

Date night for myself and my wife whilst on holiday in the area. Unable to book a table due to lack of phone signal (it is rural Norfolk!) but they accommodated us in the bar. My wife had the burger and I the plaice katsu curry, both extremely enjoyable and delicious. Good atmosphere and decor, reasonably priced too.

Out for a meal with three friends and we all had a good time. The food was very good although I found my steak to be a bit sinewy and for the price I expected a better cut of meat. We would definitely go back again.

Went on a Wednesday evening with my wife. Lovely and warm inside. Sat on sofas with amazing cocktails before dinner. Food very nice, good portions,hot and tasty. Nice surroundings and the staff were great. Really enjoyed our evening and will be back soon.

Four friends and I visited the Mulberry Tree for a meal. The service was friendly and first class, attentive without feeling rushed. The meal was out of this world. The menu gave a great variety and all excellently cooked and presented. The relaxed feel made you feel chilled and the dining must be the best in the area by a long way.

Our sons took us to the Mulberry Tree for my wife's birthday lunch. This was the first time we'd eaten there and we were very impressed. The food, service and atmosphere were first class and we were very impressed with the provision they made to cater for the vegetarians and vegans in our party.

We booked a table for 15 to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday. Was very pleased that they could cater for the whole party on one large table. Waiting staff were very efficient, quickly taking and delivering drinks orders upon arrival. The menu for lunch is quite extensive and easily cater for vegetarians and vegans. Again, all orders taken efficiently and all meals arrived within a minute of each other which was very impressive considering the myriad of different choices made by the party. I ordered the Thai Chicken broth followed by crispy pork belly Katsu curry. Both were fantastic, and the sounds of enjoyment from around the table suggested everyone else was equally impressed. All choices were keenly priced with starters around £7 and mains at £13 on average you can get a very good meal without breaking the bank. all in all, a wonderful meal in very pleasant surroundings. Would I come again? You bet I would.

I’m not a fan of taupe or mushroom. This place has such 90’s colours in bucket loads.

We had a large family meal at the Mulberry. One of us was a vegan, so let the Mulberry know. They created a special Vegan menu for the day with 4 vegan main courses. And 4 deserts to choose from. That was really appreciated.

A family meal to celebrate Mum’s 80th birthday.

Quite simply very good food and drink. Started the experience in the bar area which is adequately sized, very comfortable setting and good choice of beer and spirits. Nice place to enjoy the evening anyway but we fortunate enough to have dinner booked for 6. Starters were well priced and a reasonable size. I heard excellent things said about the pigs cheeks and my Thai broth tasted wonderfully authentic. The mains were fantastic. The Ox cheeks were outstanding and probably my best meal of the year so far. Superbly cooked, full of flavour and melt in the mouth. All the mains looked delicious and all were well received. Wine was good for the table and Ghostship on tap is always a treat. Can't speak highly enough... was genuinely delighted how good it was. We will be coming back...good food,drink,service and atmosphere all hit the brief. Very laid back and better for it.

A dreary January evening and expected it to be dead as so soon after new year it was surprisingly buzzy. Very tasty food, friendly service, and warm and cosy!

Five of us visited the Mulberry Tree for a family lunch. There was something on the menu for everyone. I thought the lunch time menu was excellent value and the food was hot, freshly cooked and tasty (all the things I think are important in a meal). My brother in law had fish and chips, it looked so good that I wished I'd had that, even though I really enjoyed my meal. I don't normally have dessert but was tempted by the chocolate/orange mousse which was an excellent choice. My husband had the Christmas version of creme caramel which he really enjoyed. The ambience of the place and the friendly staff made for a really enjoyable lunch.

First visit to this market town pub. Very clean interior, very pleasant staff, good range of draught beers & plenty of choice on the menu. Unfortunately, left still feeling hungry & thought the food was slightly overpriced & not in keeping with our first impressions when we entered. Plenty of good reviews so maybe we were just unlucky on this occasion.

Well I can’t believe why I ever go anywhere else for a meal. Ate there last Saturday. A girls night out. 3 courses and yet again as ever blown away. Food was amazingly delicious. We all had 3 courses and not one of us could fault a single thing. Perfect in every way. In fact we all sent our compliments to the chef after eating our main. Wow and wow again. This is in a small market town (fortunately I live here) and I would highly recommend. The service is superb and really friendly. There is great attention to detail in their food ambience and service, worth every penny. It is worth travelling to get here I can tell you. One of the best places to eat in Norfolk. I would highly recommend the Mulberry tree.

Went as a large family booking, the staff looked after us so well from booking through to the end. Nothing was to much trouble, food was tasty as were the cocktails! Highly recommend

Not eaten here for some years but had high expectations from previous visits, staff were very attentive and friendly, food did take a little while to come but starters were nicely presented and good quality, unfortunately the main os crispy chicken with rice in sweet and sour sauce was neither, the sauce was very thin and made the whole dish a soggy mess, batter fell away as it was sodden so nothing like the crispy chicken described in their menu, we would still eat here again but perhaps they should leave the Chinese dishes to the Chinese

Meals have been v. good. I bot of a problem with getting 4 main courses delivered together recently but this was just a mishap and everything was okay on the next visit.

Called the Mulberry tree last minute and had 30 minutes to get ready and dash out. I’ll keep it short have been here a few times and still continues to wow us. Superb service from start to finish and a very talented chef the food is something to savour. We will definitely keep returning.

Looking forward to a family meal only to be very disappointed with very noisy room unhelpful staff, when one of our party had a uncooked pink burger only to be told it was ment to pink , the 2nd came back the same and was told it was because they were mixed meats? 2 other people had the same burger and theirs were fine.I am afraid our visit didn't match their reviews. We won't return as the menu was just standard pub food.

The wife and I enjoyed a splendid lunch, We have eaten here before so we shared a starter and a desert I had the chicken for mains, it was superb the wife had a Caesar salad also very good, nice selection of gins and tonics

The Mulberry Tree is a bit of a haven in small town Attleborough - staff all very efficient and friendly and comfortable welcoming with lovely garden seating area as well. Good range of beers and wines at reasonable prices and bar meals very good. Well worth a visit.

We had a family meal there last week. The quality of the food was really super - a standard which is iften hard to find. It was our son's birthday who had flown in from the States and the occasion was really great.

3 courses for 3 people, and every mouthful enjoyed. We took my 94 year old mum for lunch on Saturday, and she ate her way thru langustine salad, haddock and chips and chocolate pudding; my wife had the salad, a burger and sticky toffee pud; I had seared tuna, trout with crab and crushed new potatoes, and lime pie. Every dish was attractively served, and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent throughout - attentive without being overbearing.

I have often eaten here as it is local and the food is good but over the last few months when I have visited I have been told on 4 occasions that they were too busy to take any food orders. This happened again tonight when I visited with a friend - we were told that they were expecting a large party so could not take any food orders - at the time we visited the restaurant was empty and the large party had not arrived. This has also happened to other friends. I appreciate we hadn't booked but this has never been a problem before and when we have been turned away we have gone elsewhere where in a couple of cases the restaurant was busier but have still been fitted in (The Boars being one). Not one to try unless you have booked so if you decide last minute to eat out I would try somewhere else

Decided to visit The Mulberry Tree in Attleborough for a special birthday meal for the 2 of us, based on a recommendation.

A real gem! We had a meal here last night for my mums birthday. Such a lovely menu and the food did not disappoint! The waiting staff were really welcoming and accommodating. Such lovely decor inside also. All clean plates were left at the end. We will definitely be coming back soon :)

I was a single walk-in as i was away for business. Was told that there was no room for me to eat, although there were plenty of tables in the restaurant. I think they are a little too upmarket for their own good!

Busy lunchtime on another snowy day but quick to source a table for us. Warm friendly atmosphere. Crab cakes were very tasty. Friendly staff as always.

The numbers tree was great for a drink with a group of girlfriends. We did not have food but looked very nice in the dining room next to the bar. The bar its self was well stocked and had some great gin cocktails however super small and limited places to sit. We wanted to stay all evening but with 8 of us out We simply could not sit anywhere together.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a night away at The Mulberry Tree. The room was beautiful, clean and the bed was HUGE! The only disappointment with the room was that the toilet button was stiff. The food was super lush and I am coeliac and they were super accommodating! I cannot recommend this beautiful hotel enough the staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble! Defo worth a stay! We shall be returning for sure!

Just had a really great lunch here. The food was fantastic (mulberry burger, chargrilled chicken, sticky toffee pudding all sampled) and the staff were friendly and helpful. Apparently Monday night is burger night so we may be back soon....

We had a table of seven on Saturday evening in the dining room. Lovely decor. The service was excellent and we were all very impressed with the choice on the menu and the quality of the food. They also had a GF menu with lots of choices. This is a refreshing change from the waiting staff pointing out what you can and can't have which happens in many other establishments. Everyone in the party was very impressed and we will certainly be returning.

Me and the wife visitors last night and had a table for 7pm, I think we were quite lucky to get a table as when we left the place was packed.

Our party of seven arrived early for a birthday celebration. We were seated in the quite large and comfortable waiting lounge and bar. This is clearly a popular place!

Had a wonderful lunch here. Plenty of parking outside, lovely decor, wonderful surrounds and brilliant beer. Both of us had a fantastic meal with really friendly staff and really good value. My shin of beef has was beautiful with roasted new potato, carrots, greens and gravy. I can’t wait to go back. Thank you.

This was the best Christmas meal I have had our beautiful cooked turkey with the best roast potatoes I have ever had out. Superb vegetables and lots on the plate without it looking too much . Brilliant friendly staff too

We had a reunion of ex staff and were really pleased we chose the Mulberry Tree. Charming staff, polite and helpful. The food was delicious and for the quality reasonably priced. Wine was as usual in all these establishments overpriced. It would be great to have good value and not feel the wine was a profiteering opportunity. This is a general observation much to common and not just the Mulberry. For value I would have given it five stars if the wine was reasonably priced.

Went with friends for evening meal out. There were four of us and we all chose different meals. All were delicious. The desserts were great too. It was the first time we had eaten at the Mulberry Tree so we're pleasantly surprised and will certainly return. Can honestly say it was the nicest meal out we have had in a long time.

Thanks very much for a lovely lunch with friends. We took our time and the food was fab. Haven’t been here for years and the atmosphere and food was just great. It’s near the railway station if you want to go by train from Norwich and have a drink.

Having tried many times to get in on a Monday night for the very popular Burger and drink for £10 night we finally got in in this week. It was my wife's birthday and we went with two friends, Due to the bottle of prosecco, oh and the cocktails, the £10 each night turned into a £60 each night but that's our fault and no regrets as it was a great night and the staff looked after us well and their chef cooked some awesome juicy burgers, ranging from plain cheese to bacon and cheese to trailer trash to french burgers. Highly recommended but please don't tell anyone as it's difficult enough to get in as it is :)

It was our second time because the first time was so good. It was my partners birthday so we decided The Mulberry Tree was the place and we weren’t let down. The restaurant is ideal for all occasions and the atmosphere is nice being intimate but chatty if you like, it just manages to be a bit of everything. The food is absolutely to die for and the chef has skills with everything cooked perfectly. The staff were top of their game from booking the table, ordering our drinks at the bar to the waiting on the table very efficient and friendly. If you just want some nibbles or a drink it’s equally as good will certainly be making a 3rd. 4th and fifth trip. This place is one of our top 3 places to eat in Norfolk.

Called in for lunch. Dining room is minimalistic so bear floors and walls make for a more noisy atmosphere. A party of 6 kept the place alive. Smallish menu but good selection. The crayfish and prawn starter looked more like a main, my chilli hallumi was ok although slightly dry. My chicken Caesar salad was really nice and my friend enjoyed the salmon. Puds were nice. Two gin and tonics and a bottle of wine came to just over £100. Lots of cheaper options though

My friends and I often meet here for lunch. The pub is nicely decorated and the service is usually good. However, I'm always left feeling hungry as the portions are just too small. This is also the case for evening meals too.

We have dined at this restaurant many times and we have always had excellent food, great service with a lovely atmosphere.

I have't been here for three years but our return was very enjoyable. Food is plentiful and of a great quality. The prices are very reasonable especially considering the quality. The restaurant is lovely and I like that you have personal space and are not packed in with little space to move. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive. All in all a very enjoyable evening with friends.

What a lovely restaurant . The ambiance is spot on. Menu is well put together . Not too big and not too small . Cocktails are lovely and not packed with ice. Good selection for vegetarians and carnivores alike . £26 a head I thought was good value. Steak slightly over cooked for my liking if I was being fussy. Didn't have a dessert as we were full. Excellent .

Visited a few times and impressed every single time. The restaurant and bar areas are really clean and beautifully furnished. The bar can get pretty busy on Friday/Saturday evenings as there aren't really any other nice bars/pubs in the town so if you want a quieter meal request a table in the dining room rather than the bar. The food is delicious, better than you expect for a small rural town. In addition, the dessert menu is updated regularly and always delicious, I particularly enjoy when there is a sharing board option and you can try all of the desserts!

I can not fault this restaurant at all! We visited to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent - the staff we friendly and very efficient. Our son had requested a bottle of prossecco be waiting for us on our table and it was ready and waiting - all nice and chilled. The food was delicious - beautifully cooked and tasty and the presentation was first class.Thank you for a wonderful evening - we will most certainly return.

A friend bought me here for a birthday dinner. We started with cocktails; I enjoyed a rather large Aperol Spritz. We shared a starter platter, the polenta cubes were delicious, the Italian meats were full of flavour, the greens were fresh and the little triangle breads with hummus were scrummy. I had jerked salmon with rice and peas for main, a good portion, well favoured. I was too full for dessert but enjoyed a cup of coffee and a bottle of NZ Sauvignon with my meal. Service was very good and unintrusive.

Another lovely meal at Mulberry Tree last night. We don't live locally but we had our wedding reception here 6 years ago and return regularly when we are visiting family. The food and service is consistently excellent and well priced.

I feel that this restaurant not only justifies being the Trip Advisor No.1 in Attleborough, looking at the village not a lot of competition.... but it truly stands out as a great venue in any town !The staff were all helpful & friendly. The food excellent & the decor / lighting dark but not too 'couple-y'.
