Probably the best service I have ever received in a restaurant. It really felt like the team cared that we had a lovely evening. The food was also fantastic and atmosphere warm and cosy. What a fantastic place.

This is our 3rd visit here and it did not disappoint. The food is of really high quality not your standard pub fare. You can see a lot of thought has gone into the menu. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. My Husband always says this is the best Burger he has tasted . I had the Hale which was perfectly cooked and my Daughter had the Belly Pork that was delicious. The only diappointment we have it that it is not our local!

From the moment we walked in , we sensed care and passion, staff were excellent, sense of humour and helpful. Owner was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The freshness of the food seemed to bound of the table and the sauce on the mussels was omg best I have ever had full stop, thick and rammed with flavour. Steak was cooked to perfection and flavoursome, and the ribs just incredible. Additionally the beers were fresh, everything was just right, and what a beautifully scenic pub it is inside and out. To the team, you have just gained some more loyal regulars.

Had the most wonderful meal in their gazebo this evening! They had lit the fire ready for us which was so kind and provided a speaker for us to play our own music which was a lovely touch. Everyone that served us was super kind and friendly throughout and the food was superb! Thank you for such a lovely evening - huge thanks to Matthew for looking after us throughout our evening - highly recommend to anyone in the area

This was our third visit as were were passing through. the area early evening. The food was second to none but I have to comment on the outstanding service from Chris, Dan and the team. This is how it should be done! You deserve your 5 star reviews ten times over. What a great place to enjoy food with family or friends. Thank you all so much.

What a fabulous time we had at the Moody Cow on Saturday. The food was really lovely (I really recommend the pork ribs), and the staff were as equally lovely, warm and friendly, which made our whole dining experience a treat from start to finish, and as we were celebrating a special birthday it really made it extra special. Can't wait to go again.

Stopped here on the off chance, while driving back to Wales, we hadn’t booked and didn’t think we would get a table. The staff were extremely accommodating, and offered us the outside gazebo, seeing as it was a pleasant day. My partner had the pork Sunday roast, and I had the Welsh lamb. The pork was fabulous, as was the crackling, the lamb was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying vegetables were a delight ! So glad we found this little gem of a place, we shall definitely be returning, and sampling the rest of their wonderful menu. Thank you to the the lovely staff, who were so friendly and chatty, and made us feel very welcome.

Fantastic restaurant, lovey quirky decor and cosy throughout. The food was delicious, the service faultless and Chris (the owner) went out of his way to accommodate the dietary requirements of my child who has additional needs. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others and will look forward to visiting again when we’re next in the area.

As we are new to the area this was our first visit but we will definitely be back. The food was excellent and the service is friendly, relaxed and efficient. My husband and I both commented that this was one of the best Sunday roasts we’d had in a long time, and the sticky toffee pudding trifle was fabulous!

Quality of food always excellent but as others have said, with the price of starters/desserts and veg now additional, it is expensive for three courses. Although I appreciate the reason I am not keen on the direct "we need your table back after 1 hr 50 mins" (not even 2 hrs) when you book online and, given we waited a while for our meals, I would have been a bit irked had this policy been applied. Given the cost too I wouldn't like to feel rushed. But food is always fab.

I'm not one for writing reviews. However, I thought the Moody Cow deserved a mention this time. I have eaten here a few times in the past, everytime has been excellent. This evening, I had chosen the wasabi fillet steak salad to start, followed by the chicken breast in a sensational mushroom sauce, I then finished with the coconut and mango rice pudding, Wow! Every mouthful was delightful! My friend let me try his French onion soup with a mustard and cheese bread (I think I ate more of it than he did). For drinks, I was feeling adventurous so I sampled the cocktail menu, I started with the Tipsy Aviator, then the French Martini and finished with an Espresso Martini to accompany my desert. Every aspect of the evening, from when we were welcomed upon arrival until we left was seamless. Will definitely be back very soon, nothing comes close!

Food was great, but put on a drafty table and very noisy room, ever though pre booked… wouldn’t be going again in a hurry as I don’t like eating my dinner in the cold!

Went for lunch on Saturday 27 Jan with my partner, sister, brother in law and our miniature dachshund, Libby. Smiles and a warm welcome were followed with the tasty mussels starter for me, succulent chicken goujons for my sister, belly pork main for 3 of us, Brixham Haddock for the other, mango and basil creme brûlée x2 and a shared chocolate brownie for the others. All excellently cooked, presented and served by the lovely team there. Highly recommended.

We eat out every sat eve always looking for somewhere different (but we do have our favourites! )We could well of added this to our list food wish was fabulous! Not a lot of choose for a vegetarian 😩 as usual these days! Until we were asked to leave as our “time slot” was up! And others are waiting for the table! So we had to rush our deserts and finish drinks quickly 🤷‍♀️ they could of offered us to hv coffee In The bar! And they could of been quicker taken our order in the beginning 😂. We met our eldest and his partner as he lives in Cardiff and we live in Burton on Trent and the Moody Cow is almost halfway. It was 100% the right decision. First it is so close to junction 3 of the M50 that it was easy to get to. Secondly, the location and building was so pretty. Inside was as attractive as the outside. We were sat by a fire before going to a round table to order. I was struck by the number and quality of staff. We were really we attended to. A fellow I believe was the landlord took the order and really sold us on the special, steak and mushroom pie, which was outstanding. In fact all the food was really good and timely. If you are travelling to Wales from the midlands I would very much recommend timing your journey so you are in a position to stop here for lunch, I know we will next time we visit the boy.

Welcomed back by Chris, it was a pleasure to dine here again today. Food was excellent, service good and overall it was a really lovely experience. Particular favourites include the Brie, Pork, Hake and the secret ribs. The whisky bread and butter pudding and homemade Christmas pudding (the owners mums recipe) were also spot on. We won’t leave it so long to return for sure !!

We hadn't been here for ages and were really looking forward to Sunday lunch with some friends as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. As far as the food goes, it was delicious as always & couldn't be faulted. What I was disappointed about though was the service. We arrived before our friends and so when we were asked for our drinks order we said we'd wait until we were all there. Our friends arrived however no-one came to ask about drinks. When the owner came to take our food order we mentioned this & were told that one of the girls would be along to do this, which she did. She was in such a rush, she missed one person's order & we had to call after her to come back. Our starters arrived, still no drinks...again we had to call over a waitress & were then asked to repeat our order. The waitress then reappeared & one of the drinks was wrong. At this point we'd waited so long, we accepted it anyway. My only other disappointment was that even though my daughter had a smaller version of the roast pork, I was horrified to see on the bill that this cost £21! The same price as an adult. This is the most expensive "kids meal" we've ever paid for. For 4 adults & 4 children the bill was £300. There was no acknowledgement that it was a celebration meal and I left feeling really disappointed. As I say, I can never fault the food here but I felt ripped off by the kids meal and the service was poor. Unfortunately, we won't be rushing back.

It was pre-covid since we visited the moody cow - it is an hours drive for us, but happy to say it didn't disappoint. Service spot on, food absolutely top drawer and atmosphere good as ever. We brought friends used to dining in the city who were very impressed.
