OVERCHARGED US ON 13/04/2024 at 1:00 am Ordered 4 Garlic Nan 3 Mango Lessy 1 Tonic Water 1 Bindi Daal Gatta 1 Mushroom Bhajee 4 Poppadom Total must be 43.70 Charged £59.50 I had a rather disappointing experience at The Monsoon. We felt like we were overcharged for our meal, and that left a sour taste in our mouths. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant due to this issue. It's important for businesses to be transparent in their pricing to build trust with their customers.

Fabulous food and service. A table for ten can be a chefs nightmare but the food and service were amazing. Been going for 27 years but today was up there with the very best. Thank you Monsoon.

Food was fantastic and service was incredible. We ordered the tandoori chicken masala and matar paneer. Both dishes were served hot and fresh.

10/10 experience, food, and customer service. I came here to break my fast today and it was my friends birthday, staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. Food was of top quality and did not take too long to arrive. Overall a success, and would definitely recommend!

Shams and his team treated us like royalty from their initial greeting, right throughout the meal and then afterwards when he joined us for a chat about the history of Brick Lane (and in particular his time there). The service was on point, the food so tasty and the general ambiance of the restaurant makes me want to return next time I am in London! My friend from Louisiana was with us and he made an instant life bond with Shams and they were chatting like long-lost best friends by the end of the evening.

The starts came out cold, they said "it's fine" basically meaning don't worry you don't need to pay so obviously they knew the food was cold! We left. Seems like a tourist trap! The portions is ridiculous. We ordered a mix kebab and we got a half a kebab and a few pieces of grilled chicken!

The fella outside hooking people in was very pleasant - but it all ended there - there appeared to be an argument as the fella outside had offered me a free beer, but the waiting staff clearly didn’t agree, I nearly walked at that point, but regrettably stayed. The free beer was warm, my onion bhajee was greasy and the chicken Ceylon was a few pieces of very rubbery chicken in a very hot sauce that bore no relation to any Ceylon I have eaten before. The chapati was nice though! The bill hit the table as soon as my last forkful was consumed - it’s a shame. Won’t be returning anytime soon and there is so much choice in Brick Lane. Like I said, looking at other reviews guess it was a bad day for them

Excellent quality food and prompt, courteous and attentive service. I particularly recommend the Monsoon Special Biryani, and the poppadums were some of the nicest I've had in any Indian restaurant. I will have to come back to try more of the menu. The 30% discount for online booking in advance was a real plus and made for a great value dinner.

We celebrated my partners birthday and they gifted us a delicious dessert. The food was incredible and vegetarian friendly. Would definitely come again soon!

Good value food, classic Indian on Brick lane. A Solid bet on a street that can very much be a mixed bag given the heavy footfall.

The place has a classic feel to it, which is not to everyone's liking, but from a business perspective, we suppose it works. Food was good, although we were initially concerned that the Halal status was questionable, but the owner offered a guarantee in regards to this. It has a great selection of Indian and traditional Bengali cuisine. The Chicken Karai Tikka Mint was lovely with freshly prepared butter naan. The only real disappointment was the popperdoms, which had a distinct oil based taste, and after a few bites, we left this alone. The facilities were clean and presentable, which is always a good sign. Staff were very polite and courteous. The owner was on site and very welcoming. Overall, it was a good experience, and if you are into having a few drinks with a Vindaloo, then this place would be ideal for you.

Came here off of a friend’s recommendation…lovely welcoming venue with friendly staff. We had meat thali and veggie mains - highlights were the lamb chops and tarka Dahl. Also the naan is 10/10 banging - fresh and doughy!! The pints are plentiful, and great hospitality...

The food is amazing. You will eat the lamb karahai until it is gone. You will keep ordering it until you are sick. If you come more than once, She (pronounced Shay) will remember you and treat you like family

Have been coming to the Monsoon for over twenty years. It has been the best restaurant by far, and prior to settling on the Monsoon we tried them all! Service genuinely friendly and the food very tasty.

We popped in at lunchtime on Sunday. We had an excellent meal, best poppadoms ever! Great food, generous portions and really friendly service. In the middle of a crazy day being tourists this was a lovely place to find, highly recommend.

Visited brick lane for amazing Indian cuisine and we were not disappointed by The Monsoon. Amazing service, attentative, and the food itself was absolutely delicious. MY 6YO daughter loved the raita! Can't recommend enough!

This was the first meal of our trip and it set the bar sky high. To start we had onion bhajis and kebab, both of which were delicious.As for our main, the lamb pathia was exceptional - so flavourful but with just the right amount of heat. The staff were very helpful and even prepared plain chicken tikka, chips and peas for my younger sister who doesn't like spice. I can't fault the monsoon nor their brilliant team. I will definitely be back.

Great food in this busy restaurant. Service and food were both very good. In such a concentrated area where all venues claim to be the best in London you need to impress. The Monsoon did.

We walked around Brick Lane looking for a south Asian Restaurant… ended up making a deal with the Host at the door (like all the other restaurants in the area) So what can I say.:: made an excellent choice as the food was fresh and delicious! The variety of taste and flavors and spice was so delightful! And then the service was extremely accommodating and gracious! I can’t wait to come back for all of it! From Papadom to appetizer to entrée and flavored rice were all excellent… most of all… the price was so worth the effort to come to Brick Lane!

Been to a number of curry houses in Brick Lane. This never fails to impress. Lateast visit last night. Superb. The best yet.

It was evident they weren't eager to have us as customers, as they ignored us and then proceeded to invite an English couple in ahead of us. We were a bit baffled, but later learned that Indian restaurants in Brick, owned by Bangladeshis, try to avoid serving their own people, assuming they prefer authentic food and would complain. I find this perspective narrow-minded and judgmental, as if we wanted authentic food, we would likely eat it at home. In addition, there were bouncers outside who were rather abrupt and loud, making it feel like we were outside a nightclub. Perhaps reconsider the abrupt and loud attitude of the security staff, as it seemed to deter some people from entering.

Everything is so much tasty we had vegetarian food keep going. Thank you so much amazing service and food was amazing we really had a great time with my family

Been to quite a few curry places on Brick Lane, it’s the place to go for curry. These guys were so accommodating for a group of 8, so friendly, and the food was genuinely so bloody good. I think it’s my favourite curry place on Brick Lane. Which makes it my favourite curry place in general. So, will be back.

Someone from the staff told us about a discount outside and as soon as we entered the restaurant and ordered starters they changed the offer completely. Ambience and vibe of the place is pretty bad too. We raised a concern about particular item we ordered, they decided to completely ignore our request. After expressing our concern couple times, witnessing the behaviour of staff, cleanliness and overall vibe of the place we decided to leave. Paid our bill and on our way out the owner/manager racially profiled my family member. It’s disgusting businesses like this exist in 2023! Do not recommend this place!
