The Monkstone Inn in Cardiff

Excellent good and service as usual considering there were 12 plus, food was hot and fresh and service outstanding. Compliments to the chef and staff as always.

Have found the place really nice friendly staff always update you what’s available and not and quick service and the bar staff are really good at their job

We had what we expected, a Saturday lunchtime meal. Cider for my wife, Guinness for me, and pleasant service.

The food was so nice and cooked to perfection definitely go back again....

Most definitely the worst Sunday lunch anywhere. The sign says great food. Plenty of gravy stated on the menu . What gravy ? Also go large for an extra £2 (Joke). All I can say is it was cold and disgusting. When you leave half of nothing theres an issue.The Cross is just across the road . When it comes to food quality The Monkston is a million miles away. As for the Yorkshire pudding. Photo uploaded Shocking!! Your only as good as your last meal . Never again!!!!

Sunday lunch was awful. Treat for my daughter every other weekend. Our usual place that we go was booked up . I had to take her home and feed her the food was disgusting. I'm so angry that they allow this rubbish to leave there kitchen. 😡

Went for the Wednesday curry deal. Had the beef madras and a Guinness. The curry was tasty and good value. Came with rice, naan bread and papadam.

The Monkstone hosted my mums 80th birthday party on Saturday 22nd July- it was such a great success, the buffet food was delicious, we had so many complements about it,the atmosphere and service second to none- nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much to Leanne and the team for looking after us and ensuring that both young and old had a fabulous afternoon. Many happy memories were made and we would highly recommend them . Best wishes going forward xx

Good points- tasty food, friendly staff, good prices. Bad points- decor. Badly stained seating and even up walls. Chav central for parents who wish to get p*ssed whilst leaving unruly kids to own devices and annoy other guests.

Myself and two daughters went for birthday meal & there was no faults. Food was cooked to perfection and served hot. Great value for money and excellent customer service given by Bethany and landlady leanne.

Had the cauliflower and red pepper curry this evening for a change, omg was absolutely stunning, I'm not a veggie but this had all the flavour that it didn't need any meat, service from staff amazing as always, great atmosphere.

They ran out of fish but the gammon was an excellent replacement

Lunch with my daughters and granddaughters, staff friendly and helpful. I had the fish and chips 10 out of 10 absolutely fabulous.

Thank you to all the staff at the monkstone, we brought our son with 6 of his friends and parents. The boys played football outside and we had a good catch up. Food was lovely and staff attentive as ever. Highly recommended 😊

Have been coming here for about a year whilst waiting for our kids at a local drama class. Food is lovely and good value. Most of all we love the atmosphere and the staff are amazing, so friendly and they remember you which is a lovely personal touch. Special mention to Leanne for making us feel so welcome and staff. We don’t live locally but it has become our new local! Highly recommend!

Went for my dad's birthday the food was amazing my children and myself loved it the staff I could fault them we didn't know children had to be out of there by a certain time but my daughter had already left but my son was still there and they were fine with it because he was well behave but my children do behave lovely when out for a meal iv been told loads of time how well behaved they are when we've taken them out for meals, so I would recommend this place to anyone the prices were good too xx

Oh my word! You just have to try the food here. Fresh and cooked to perfection. Didn't want my dinner to end! Plus, customer service was second to none. Thank you The Monkstone Inn.

We were staying in Cardiff for a competition and were looking for somewhere for a group meal close to the hotel. Didn't know what to expect but was really pleasantly surprised. Booked over phone nice and easy and were sat away from main bar. For us with some younger kids and it being a Saturday night this was good. The food was pretty good pub food. What set it apart though was the staff - they were so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was a problem for them. As a result enjoyed our meal out.

During our time in Cardiff we ate and drank in the Monkstone on a couple of occasions. Fantastic food both off the menu and provided for a private function, great selection of drinks both alcohol and alcohol free. The staff were brilliant, with a special mention to Lianne the Landlady who was friendly, welcoming and a great laugh. Worked tirelessly even on her day off to make sure our function went seamlessly which it did. Thank you to all the team at the Monkstone

Enjoyed a lovely evening here, me and my partner had steak and some drinks and the food was beautiful, we’ve been here many times and the food has always been lovely, when purchasing our drinks and food at the bar we had great service from Caryn and Leanne they are both lovely and welcoming, great customer service, thank you .

Nothing against management or staff but It would be nice to see the inside decor steamed cleaned seats and carpets but that's my point of view!! A group of us attended for a lunch meet there was lot of confusion over the lunches in waiting and fish was served to one person no fish!! All batter the poor waitress bless her had to work very hard there was no other staff that barmaid needs a medal to be working on her own serving waiting when serving groups there should more than one person serving. Don't get me wrong my meal I had a lite bite option was really nice. This is only time I've had chance to comment as I've been to lot of places I try to answer accordingly!! Christmas last year 2022 everybody said they had a fantastic time with there Christmas lunch. And that's what gave me the inspiration to attend that day last week!!

We have been drinking in this pub for a long time but I have to say that since the new management have taken over the food has improved massively. The staff are always friendly and willing to go that extra mile to help. We have eaten here a few times over December and January and can't fault the food or service thanks everyone.And also my husband is very happy that now the lager selection is much better (now serving san miguel and birra morretti)

The food was amazing and the staff were friendly, nice cosy atmosphere, definitely worth sampling the chocolate orange sponge with custard .

Went here for a meal Saturday day time (party of 14) and the service was quick, food was banging and staff were amazing! Every single order was spot on (including all the annoying changes we all made 🤣). The land lady is brilliant; propper funny and down to earth! Thank you all for making my step sons birthday meal go off without a hitch - we'll definitely be back again 😊
