Food and service were excellent even though one starter was initially missing and then too many main courses.

Fabulous evening for our daughter's birthday. Simon and the team went above and beyond to make the occasion special. The service was amazing, the food gorgeous and beautifully presented, and the restaurant itself is charming.

I went to The Monk for Sunday lunch as a group of 20. We all sat in the extension area and it was wonderfully convivial. The food was excellent, I had the smoked salmon and beetroot, which was excellent and had envy for the ravioli my husband had ordered for a starter. The beef I had for my main meal was excellent. The wine choice and well stocked bar ensure there is plenty to accompany your meal. The staff are always polite and attentive and a credit to the business.

Clearly a popular restaurant. Practically full on this Sunday lunchtime. If the rating was on the food then I would have given 5 stars. The starter of beetroot cured salmon was lovely, well presented, nice quality. The roast rib of beef was very good too although it would have been better without such a large Yorkshire pudding. I noticed a lot of people seemed to leave much of this. The chocolate pave for dessert was beautiful and delicious. The only problem seemed to be coordination of the service. Yes all the serving staff were very pleasant and there were quite a few of them but there were long gaps between arriving and getting served and between courses. We arrived on time at 1.15 and were seated straight way after a friendly welcome but it was a good 15 minutes before anyone took our order. The gap between the starter and main course was a good 30 to 40 minutes.yes the staff did apologise that they were having to serve a large table before us and there would be a delay, but we would have thought most restaurants would serve a table of two before a table of a dozen or so to avoid a long wait. We remarked to ourselves that it was a good thing that we were only drinking mineral water as we would have easily finished a bottle of wine before the main course arrived. When it did finally arrive it was perfectly cooked but maybe a little on the lukewarm side. Would we return? Maybe, as the food was very good, but maybe not on a Sunday lunch time. Well done though on pleasant staff and good quality food

Excellent food, service & atmosphere

Food was great as was the service. Only thing that lets this place down is the lack of parking and the topless women pictures in the gents toilet which feels like you've stepped back into the 70's

What a wonderful place! Food, service and setting, is equal to any Michelin Star restaurant that I have been to in London. An absolute must, if you are visiting Loughborough or the surrounding area. Have never had a better Sunday lunch, and prices are very reasonable. We'll done all.

This was only our 3rd visit, but each time we have never been disappointed. The staff are young, but very helpful and willing, the food has always been excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, nothing seems too much trouble for anyone. Can't wait for our next visit, even though this is a good distance away, its still worth the effort.

World class food, we have visited a few times and every time the food is like magic. The service is friendly, attentive, nothing is too much trouble, the host is an absolute gent and the atmosphere is always the perfect mix of fun, classy and warm. It’s absolutely my favourite restaurant, I would recommend anyone wanting a special dining experience visit here.

Our go to place in Quorn, in fact I’d go as as to say Leicestershire. The time and thought placed into each menu is sublime. We are always welcomed with the warmest and pleasant service from Simon and his team of staff. Keep up the great work guys- Jadie and Tom

If you haven’t been here before, you definitely should, the food is of Michelin star quality. The staff are friendly and attentive, the owners Simon & Carla are a lovely team, Simon the friendly knowledgeable wine/front of house, Carla the amazing chef, with a gift for flavour and detail that surpasses most. The place is full of quirky character that adds to the atmosphere of being `In a special place’ plus the prices for the excellent food quality & service are not what you would normally expect for such high quality. Go and check it out, you will be pleasantly surprised, and like us you will return time & time again.

We spent Valentine's evening at The Monk in Quorn, Leicestershire. From the first mouthful to the last, it was delicious. An outstanding restaurant and suitable for every occasion. The bar staff, waiting staff, chefs are outstanding and the hosts Simon and Carla are so warm and generous. Despite goes through horrendous turmoil due to the floods, the restaurant is up and running again and better than ever, if that's possible. Sunday lunches there are a must. Keep up the good work everyone, you're amazing 😍

Treated our son and girlfriend, both at local uni, to Sunday lunch. We all thought it was it excellent and my son said it was the best roast beef he has ever had, which we all agreed with. Every dish was well presented and the lovely desserts finished off an unforgettable meal. The staff were friendly and very attentive and must be praised for first class service. Very accommodating for a last minute table when I didn’t want to cook and fancied a treat. The service is always perfect and food delightful. My favourite is the fillet and chips which we would highly recommend. Thank you to the whole team.

My husband and myself recently dined here at a busy Christmas work function. All the staff were very attentive, the food was delicious and severed hot which was a delight as our party number was 40+. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and in an ideal location in the village with plenty of near by parking. I have told all my friend and family they must give it a visit. Excellent evening out. Excellent food and atmosphere. Simon is an exemplary host, his team are outstanding, on every occasion they have been friendly and welcoming making for a relaxing and most enjoyeable evening. Menu is well put together, we went on Wednesday and had the Steak Night Menu, the Chateaubriand was delicious, perfectly cooked and served. Excellent wine list to cater for all tastes and price ranges.

No communication when booking. I booked online, 2 hrs later get an email to say booking cancelled, no phone call nothing, was planning a surprise for my wife, shocking really, tried calling a few times no answer, either very busy or not organised 👎

As first time visitors to The Monk we were very pleased to find this gem! The food was simply delicious and beautifully presented - marvellous monkfish, perfect pork, succulent steaks and venison to write home about. Also, despite arriving early we were warmly welcomed - the manager/owner was charming & knowledgeable. We will be back!

All 3 courses were delicious and the non-alcoholic cocktails are also excellent. The pork spring rolls with satay sauce were crispy and the sauce was really tasty. We both polished off every last scrap off food on our plates - chicken breast and croquette with mushrooms in not-enough white wine sauce, and lamb rump with lamb/potato gratin with garlic beans. Chocolate and cherry mousse was sublime and just how a proper mousse should be - rich and velvety. Good service and a lovely place.

The food was of good quality, one of the nicer Sunday roasts in Leicestershire. Really reasonably priced for the courses and a wide selection of drinks on the menu. Unfortunately the customer service was disappointing, the staff came across as if they didn’t want to be there. Unfortunate.

Great welcome when we arrived from the team and we were shown straight to our table. Food is 1st class so tasty and nothing goes to waste. Its a popular place and from our 1st experience I can understand why its so busy. Booking is essential due to its popularity 👌 we will be returning again fully reccomend.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 'Wednesday Steak night'. There were some lovely touches that made the evening special. Alongside the steaks, we'd highly recommend the Rum Apocalypse(cocktail) and chocolate cherry mousse.

This was an exceptional dining experience, a big city experience in a lovely little village. Simon, the host, was engaging, knowledgeable and most welcoming. Staff were well trained and discrete. Very admirable wine list to compliment some of the best cuisine in the midlands. Top job!

A very warm welcome on a chilly damp evening. Mind your heads and tummy here. The beams are low and the decor is stylish, boujee - A selection of week day menus and a selection on delicious cocktails. I had Gin Smoked Salmon - followed by Fish & Chips. Monkfish goujons in a light crispy batter. I was tempted by the Irish coffees that were very popular… Great staff & a really enjoyable evening.

Went to visit our son at college and booked a table for Sunday dinner. Lovely pub, quite quirky and the food was delicious. Would absolutely visit again.

My wife and I went for evening dinner. The food was great with a good selection. The monkfish main was excellent 👌. There is a nice ambience to the venue too. The only thing slight negative was being told as soon as we arrived that we only had the table until 9pm. Something we knew when we booked. Overall though a lovely place to eat.

Treated my brother and his wife to celebrate my sister in laws sixtieth birthday, it’s was great. The food was superb and plentiful, with none of us able to tackle a pudding. Also a great selection of wine, but buy it by the bottle, it’ll leave you more to tip the girls at the end of your visit. So to sum up great food, good wine and fantastic service.

Thought we’d try this as we hadn’t been there before. The only tables available were early so we skipped lunch and arrived to a very warm welcome, excellent service and great food. All the food was beautifully presented from the 3 course fixed menu after cocktails and a gin and tonic. We both deliberately ordered different food for each course and all 6 dishes were excellent and neither of us regretted our choices. The total bill of just over £50pp (including a nice bottle of wine) was very reasonable and we will definitely return as all aspects of the evening were spot on.

We went on a Wednesday, steak night. Beautiful piece of Chateaubriand between us, fantastic tempura prawns for a starter, and a great orange sponge pudding. Accompanied by well made cocktails and nice wine, it was fabulous. Thank you for a great evening, we will be back.

We visited mid evening on a Friday. Without a booking there was no change of a table but staff were super friendly and offered us a table outside where we sat, drank cocktails, watched the goings on of Friday night in the village centre and tried not to think about how cold it was for August (as we are British and should know better!).

As usual a great night was had by all, there were 10 of us and everyone really enjoyed the food , service and atmosphere in this beautiful restaurant

What a super Sunday lunch. The ribeye roast beef was the best I’ve had when compared to other restaurants. The staff were very friendly. The whole service was spot on. Highly recommended any time of the week.
