The Mockingbird in Hackney

went with some friends to have some cocktails since they had happy hour 2 for 1. All the cocktails we had were very weak, watery and generally not good. I don't recommend it for drinks.

¡Por Dios! Esto debería ser realmente bueno, pero necesitan ponerse manos a la obra, creo que! Amable y bastante cómoda pero las tapas no eran fantásticas en general ... pero no podían ser con más de esfuerzo. Los calamares perfectos tenía un rebozado ligero pero estaban un poco correosos. Las cabras asadas ensalada de queso estaba bien. Las albondigas estaban bien.

The food was nice and the staff friendly but some of the dishes we ordered didn't come for a really long time or were wrong.

A friendly cocktail bar. I like the interior, the friendly staff and the atmosphere. It can get crowded at the weekend. If I have their food, I have it for nibbles.

Great seafood paella, squid and -the unsung hero of tapas-patatas bravas! It all reminded me of a holiday in Spain.

Went here with a couple of friends one evening, the food was fantastic and the cocktails were to die for... Enough said!

Cosy and friendly place. Had a great time enjoying paella and nachos! The music was in perfect harmony with the place itself. Staff really friendly. We'll definitely come back!

The titles says it all. Ive never been in a place serving proper spanish food at those prices. I go everytime I can (and im spanish myself so i know what im talking about)

He estado aquí varias veces y la comida ha sido realmente genial. Perfecto para unas cuantas tapas platos para acompañar los cócteles. El personal es muy acogedor, y toda la sensación del lugar es apacible y relajado. Ahora que el clima es más agradable es sin duda un lugar que recomiendo para pasar los veranos remoloneando noche con los amigos.

Food faultless. Superb tapas menu with dishes to surprise you. Best Margarita cocktail in Hackney. Service first class. Bistro atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Having moved to Stoke Newington last year I have been steadily working my way through the restaurants along the A10. The Mockingbird will go down on the list of places to return for a low key evening with good food, cocktails and wine.

Nice relaxed atmosphere with good service and good quality food without being memorable.

Fuimos mi pareja y yo de viaje por Londres, y nos topamos con The Mockingbird porque queda cerca de casa de unos amigos. En principio fuimos porque ponían la final de la Champions League en una enorme pantalla con proyector, pero nos encontramos con un local realmente acogedor y moderno, y con unas tapas de calidad, de VERDADERA cocina española. Vinos y cervezas también españoles. Productos frescos, servicio rápido, atento y agradable. Recomiendo la tapa de calamares, la tortilla de patatas, y como no sus deliciosas paellas.

We had a fab evening at the mockingbird. the cocktails and food were delicious and the staff were very attentive. we will definately be visiting again in the future!

Good food which was good value. The atmosphere was great but my only criticism would be that the service was quite disorganised but it was extremely busy!

We went there in Saturday. The restaurant is really lovely looking. The food is really bad - it feels like the produce is cheap. A particular low light was the bruschetta that looked like it had salmon on it but it was tomato - it was soggy and not toasted. Overall it was a miss.

Out for an evening, and looking actually for somewhere else we could not find. Then spotted the Mockingbird, like the name, so lets try. Not disappointed. Like the good service, like the tapas variety and great experimental flavours. Well worth the visit. Only had a starter so I have to go back for more.

Live locally and came for dinner with a spanish friend. Food is amazing, try the tapas as close to spain as it gets! Atmosphere is also nice and very friendly service

we went there on a quiet evening and ordered three tapas for the two of us. they were passable, but not really good and they got one of our orders wrong, but we wouldn't have minded too much if they hadn't brought us the wrong wine as well, which we realized when the bill came in since the wine cost twice the one we ordered. it all got sorted out in the end (we paid for the wine we ordered).all in all, nothing to come back for.

Food and service excellent. Whilst not traditionally a tapa the nachos are the best I have ever had and not to be missed. Peppers stuffed with cod were very tasty and lovely spicy patatas bravas. I think it is always good when you see the chef preparing the food over the counter and he certainly did a good job. Sangria was refreshing with nice fruit in it. The clientele did seem young and trendy (apart from us!) certainly on the Saturday night we went anyway - we felt a bit like the oldest swingers in town! It wouldnt put us off though and we will visit again next time we are in London. Would have given 5 stars for quality of food, service and ambience - but let down by only one thing - please, please do something about the very sticky tables!
