The Midland Tapas & Wine Bar in Isle of Anglesey

Celebrating 30 years together on Saturday I thought it would be nice to book the Midland in Beaumaris as we had previously been prior to covid.I booked online nearly 2 weeks before for a 7.30 reservation, I had an e-mail on the day asking for confirmation which I replied to. My husband and I got to the restaurant for 7.25, we were greeted by a girl across the bar who asked for my details and said that they were clearing our table and to wait at the bar.At this time all the tables in the front of the restaurant were full and there were 2 couples seated at the bar. When one of the couples were escorted into the back restaurant we proceeded to sit at the vacant bar stools awaiting to be called for our table. 10 minutes went by before we were spoken to again by a waitress who gave us a menu.Another 10 minutes before we were asked if we would like drinks.2 plates were put in front of us, which we did think was strange but said nothing.A waitress came to speak to us over the bar and asked if we were ready to order, I asked if our table was ready and she said that we were to sit at the bar .I explained that I had booked a table as it was an anniversary, and I really didn’t want to sit on bar stools with people coming in and speaking over us, she said that they were fully booked. By this time there were 3 empty tables in the front of the restaurant. I explained that nowhere did it say when I was booking that I would be seated in the bar.To say that our evening was ruined is an understatement!! No effort was made to rearrange to accommodate this.We paid for the drinks that we had ordered to go with the food that we never had and left.Staff have little experience in dealing with customer service and lack empathy

This is an unusual place. I really enjoyed the food, the flavours weren't strong, but certainly nothing to complain about, and the choice was excellent. But the trendy front of the restaurant / bar is small and the back area where we sat is nowhere near as nice. This let it down a little bit. Also the service was sporadic. One minute you are getting lots of things served up and then you are left for a long period before you get served again. However, I enjoyed the experience overall and would return and recommend a visit.

My wife and I had a great tapas here. Food was great. From the street it looks quite a small restaurant but there are a lot more tables at the back so be put off if you can’t see any free tables from the road. Definitely worth a visit if you like your tapas

After a fantastic visit to the Midland this evening, I came home and read the reviews. I’m sure we visited a different restaurant to that described in the previous reviews! The food was excellent, we ordered some old favourites - calamari, straw fries and a couple of new dishes - asparagus and scallops. They were all fantastic. The staff however made the evening. I would just like to start of by saying I never leave a review for places where I have been to eat ever, but my experience at this place and the standard of food I just felt it was needed. To start off with we was seated at the table for 15 mins before someone come over to take a drinks order, once we had received our drinks we had to then wait a further 15 mins before they then came over to take our food order. The food came out within 2 minutes . . . Which gives me the impression that this is pre made food or even microwaved, which I may have accepted if the food was half decent. First of all the Katsu curry was flavourless and the chicken was extremely watery, The BBQ Chicken wings had little to no meat on them that they wasn’t even edible, The burgers were the best out of a bad bunch. The chicken and chorizo paella was swimming in water when it arrived and tasted like pure herbs. Then after all this we had to wait 20 minutes to receive our bill. Overall for 4 plates of very low standard of food and two drinks for a bill of £60 it is safe to say that I will not be rushing back here anytime soon and would advise others not to go.

We have just returned from a meal at the Tapas restaurant in Beaumaris. The food was ok, reasonable choice and quality. Unfortunately this was over shadowed by very poor service from the front of house staff. Having ordered a glass of Chardonnay and tasting the wine, I wasn’t sure if the wine was off or just very poor quality. Either way I politely said to the waitress that I didn’t like the wine, wasn’t sure if it was off/corked or just me, but I didn’t want to drink it. As I was about to order a replacement the waitress abruptly said ‘well I will still have to charge you for this glass (full except a sip from myself and my husband to get his opinion on if it was off). We were informed we would have to pay ‘because of the wastage’. We were very taken aback, and felt this very rude and poor service as i genuinely did not like the taste and was not sure if it was off. I have never ever been to a restaurant and in a similar situation been immediately faced with such a non customer focussed attitude. Ultimately I didn’t order a replacement glass and later when ordering another item of tapas from a different waitress I appealed to her to say I felt the service was rude and suggestion that I pay for the wine I had not drunk was unreasonable, in summary I didn’t want to pay for that glass of wine and please ensure it is not on the bill. Later, on receiving the bill, we found that it had been adjusted for us to pay £1.47 for the sips of horrible/off wine we had tasted, in addition to a tapas item we had not received showing on our bill. Raising the situation again, I stated that I felt it wrong to still be asking me to pay £1.47 for wine I had taste tested and returned, out of an £80 bill. The attitude we received from both waitress and supervisor was that it was expected that we pay for that wine and they saw no problem with the approach taken. We did in-fact refuse to pay the £1.47 out of principle of the matter, but all in all a completely needless hassle and unpleasant experience on a family evening out. If this restaurant needs to treat its customers this badly to recover £1.47 for horrible wine, I think it needs to revisit its business plan, or invest in some customer service training pronto!

The reviews recently posted make us wonder if we visited the same place being diametrically opposed to our experiences. Having been unable to visit for the past two years we wondered what we would find. How many restaurants would have had to close? we were relieved to see The Midland has survived. We loved the food - as good as we remembered. In fact we visited three times in the week, absolutely replete after each time dining there. My husband was not too keen on the octopus ceviche and the local mussels are not as fat and juicy as in Belgium but the sauce was delicious. Argentinian prawns, salmon fillet on mixed beans. Etc etc. very tasty, the Mediterranean platter was so plentiful. The patatas Bravas Canarian style with its spice and lemony tang was perfectly balanced and you must try them! We love the modern twist with the tapas served in this restaurant. Cannot wait to return. Hope many of you give them a go. These businesses need our support otherwise we lose the great variety of foods we have all come to enjoy so much.

We waited at the bar, then shown to our table.The server apologised for not coming over to take our drinks order.We received our wine which was very nice.We ordered 5 tapas.After waiting 35 mins we received our first one.I recieved the second one 15 mins later.I then saw the kitchen cleaning down, I know because I'm a chef.The server then came over and asked if we had enjoyed our meals, I said we hadn't recieved 3 of the tapas.She apologised and gave me the bill.I said I wasn't happy because my wife hadn't had anything to eat because she was waiting for her tapas.She said the kitchen was closed.She gave us 15% discount and apologised for the service.My wife went without food because everywhere else was closed.Terrible service and terrible attitudes

Not been for a weekend in Beaumauris since lockdown started nearly two years ago and it was great to have a lovely evening tonight at the Midland.Perfect menu with loads of choices, great drinks attentive pleasant staff and a relaxing atmosphere.Fantastic to see it has maintained its high standards and will be back again as soon as we can!

We have visited this restaurant several times over the years and it's always been outstanding. Our visit in Feb 2022 was quite disappointing. The quality of food was not up to scratch, patatas bravas were uninspiring, mini burgers were a bit rubbery, paella was average, wine warm. The service was ok-ish, but very hard to catch anyone's attention and our table was left uncleared at the end of the meal for ages. Won't rush back.

I was looking forward to my birthday meal here but this was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had. From their limited wine menu I firstly asked for a bottle of sauvignon blanc which they didn’t have, then a rioja tempranillo which they didn’t have, then settled on a pinot grigio. This came out warm. I asked the waitress if I could have a cold bottle of wine but she said they were all in a box still in the van. She then disappeared. I went to the bar and asked for a red wine if there was no cold white, I asked for a malbec which they didn’t have, then asked for a rioja which they didn’t have. Ended up with a very poor quality house macedonian wine. Most of our food dishes came except for our paella. No apologies for this or the wine debacle! Absolutely atrocious! The staff (some who were drinking at the bar) didn’t take our complaints seriously. Avoid if you like fine food, good wine and any sort of service that’s acceptable.

We have been here numerous times before and always enjoyed it but our latest visit was a let down. There was no head chef in the kitchen only two very young boys and the food really reflected this. The calamari is now in strips deep fried and it was difficult to bite into.Really over fried.Why they changed to this way I don’t know. It used to be lovely.The waitress didn’t come over to ask us how our food was at any point and it was really quiet so no excuse , so the calamari was left until the end of the meal uneaten. The prawns were so over cooked and chewy. The garlic mushrooms were swimming in oil and sooo much garlic usually they are lovely. I don’t know what happened this time but it was disappointing and I usually love this place.

From three meals that we had in Beaumaris whilst on holiday this was by far the best and therefore we went back for our last night. The staff were young, friendly and attentive even though our table was not quite ready when we got there. We were a large party of 12 and we never waited for service and we all had food at the same time. The food was good quality and led to some reordering on both occasions. Would totally recommend and the atmosphere was also very good.

The food was exceptional, the experience was great and we really enjoyed. Best Tapas I have ever been to outside of Spain.

Had heard great reviews but unfortunately i was very disappointed with the food. Sercice good, atmosphere good. Sad to see the jamon was pre cut from a pack and fridge cold on arrival as was the manchego. Just a bit lazy and to charge those prices for pre prepared food is poor. No added value. Manchego was not aged either and of low quality. Meatballs were like rubber and the sauce had no flavour, depth or seasoning and was thin and lacked everything. I feel bad saying this but Probably the worst meatballs ive ever had. Another sign that no care and attention was given to the prep of the food. We should have known better than to order paella as it was re-heated and dry. Didnt have much taste either. The couple of positives were the padron peppers and the excellent egg chorizo and fries but thats it unfortunately. Lots of potential but massively let down by the food

Visited Beaumaris this weekend. Arrived Friday and after searching Trip Advisor found there was a Tapas restaurant. We got there at 6.50pm and hadn't booked but were told we could have a table if finished by 8pm which was fine. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Ordered paella, meatballs, patatas bravas x 2, smoked salmon croquettes, bread, and chicken tortillas. Food was amazing and the bect Tapas I've ever eaten in the UK, boyfriend has been to Spain and he also raved about it. Service with a smile and they also do cocktails, the Pornstar Martini was exceptional. Big plates and great value for money. Will come again if we are back in Beaumaris!

Friendly welcome, good range of dishes - generous portions, especially enjoyed the pork, calamari, beetroot. Might go for Patatas rather than straw fries as the latter are hard work to eat politely. Churros and Crema Catalana finished off the meal nicely.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tapas evening last week whilst staying in the area. The portions are larger than expected and the quality of the dishes we selected was excellent. Really tasty!Service was very good and a decent selection of wines by the glass.Looking forward to returning.

Really lovely food. Went based on reviews on here and pleased we did. Loved everything. Even had a lunchtime cocktail, be rude not to! Not cheap but delicious and friendly staff. Definitely will go again next time we are in the area.

Dishes enjoyed between the 4 of us were padron peppers, breaded chicken, fillet of beef, mussels, prawns, black cod and patatas bravas. However the squid was not so good in a heavy breadcrumb casing. I can cook far better by simply coating it in tapioca flour so why not try this please? Only takes 4 mins to fry….

Don’t be fooled by the (initially) surly nature of the staff, once you’re inside the service is outstanding. This small but perfectly formed tapas bar really hits the high notes for quality. The food is good and the atmosphere congenial. The pace at which the food was brought out was good and the quantity just right.

We had dinner and drinks and it was excellent. the food was fresh, the cheese was perfect, and everything was well seasoned. I also had a couple of cocktails and highly recommend the Long Anglesey Island Ice tea, perfect to finish off the meal. The place was lovely and bustling and the staff were brilliant and attentive.

Fabulous evening at this Tapas Bar. Great atmosphere and extremely fast service. We were not sure how to go about ordering but waiting staff very helpful and great variety of food. The calamari especially was fantastic. Fresh, soft and tasty. We ended up ordering more dishes after we finished the first round. Really good night out.

We had a wonderful variety of tapas dishes… they were so very flavoursome… it was a treat for the palate. Lively atmosphere with great service

Nice staff, lovely glass of Rioja, pork followed by chicken and chorizo paella. What’s not to like, great spot.

We first enjoyed the Midland when it first opened when living on Anglesey since when it has always been one of our favourites on the island. Having not visited for a while , I have been in a couple of times over the last few weeks. The food has gone from excellent to outstanding… the fusion of cuisine actually works as opposed to a lot that I have experienced, the staff are in tune with the ethos of the place, efficient, good humoured and customer aware and all at a price that leaves you amazed at how much money you have left in your wallet after. Five stars doesn’t cover it

Dilatory staff, in obvious need of customer service training. The food was OK, nothing special, though nothing worse than hard patatas bravas.

Had a meal one evening, the staff were very good and the tapas excellent. Nice portions and well prepared.My only area of concern was the interior of the restaurant, we were given a table for two, first on the left , after coming through from the bar.The table faced another table not being used, and for my entire meal, was facing two unused high chairs and two used cloths , screwed up on the table.This looked awful and spoilt the atmosphere for me.I know this is a small point, to some, but it brought everything down to cafe level for me.

This was our second visit to the Midland, having had an excellent meal the first time. We booked for our wedding anniversary on a Saturday night. It all began when we first entered, we waited ages for some eye contact from the staff, then we were shown to our table, then waited 25 mins for our drinks. we placed our order for starters, and mains then waited another age. starters turned up as did the main courses at the same time. It was so hot in the dining area it was unbearable, a table of 8 women next to us were melting. there was no ventilation as all the windows were closed, Covid rules say there should be as much ventilation as poss, The food was ok , but not as good as our first visit, There seemed to be a total lack of supervision among the young staff.

3 of us called in for lunch on a Tuesday. We were blown away by the tapas - absolutely fabulous - as good as any we have had anywhere in the world!We order 9 dishes plus puds and couldn’t fault any of them! If I had to pick a favourite mine would be the belly pork with that superb sauce- amazing!Brilliant service too from the young waiter who was looking after all the tables on his own!Our first ever visit - but we will definitely return when next on holiday in Anglesey - highly recommended!

I am not enthusiastic about Tapas, this restaurant change my view. In the past I would’ve thought that the portions were small and the prices were very high. I changed my mind as the portions were good for 3 people and the price was reasonable for the size of the dish. The variety of dishes is very large and as we had a large number I would leave it up to you to choose whatever you like. I’m certain you will not be disappointed. The decor does not do justice to the food.Knowledgeable staff

We visited the midland on Saturday, we have been here many times in the past as we usually come to Beaumaris once a year and we love this restaurant and we have always had a good experience. However on this occasion we were left with a sour taste in our mouths (not literally) as towards the end of our meal we were starting to be rushed. I booked the table for 6 & a baby a few weeks in advanced for 17.45 and on arrival we were left waiting by the door for a fair few minutes as all the staff were behind the bar with there backs to us. We were then seated and all went well until they took our dessert/coffee order and the young waitress asked if we could pay our bill at the same time! She also told us the table after us had arrived and was waiting? Not sure that is our problem as we expect a table of 6 to get 2hrs as standard. Anyhow we ordered 4 desserts and when 3 of the 4 arrived the young girl returned with the card machine! Talk about being rushed! Were still waiting on one dessert and all 6 of us still had drinks left and to our timings had around 20mins of the 2hrs left. Another waitress came over and apologised for rushing us. When we questioned why we hadn't had 2 hours they told us they only give a table and hour and half, which seems tight when a table of 6 is ordering tapas and is at the mercy of when the dishes arrive,(we should have been made aware of how long we had the table on booking or on arrival) conveniently they took our coffee & dessert orders before telling us any of this and to top things off we were being stared down by the waiting party stood at the bar. However we couldnt fault the food! But there only seemed to be 3 young waiters/waitress and it is in definite need of an experienced restaurant manager.

Thankyou so much fir a lovely evening.It was my son in laws birthday and you really accomodated us.From letting us put balloons up to bringing his cake out.The food was out of this world.Every dish was beautiful.I can’t recommend the prawns enough and the mushrooms and shawarma were amazing.We will be back! At least 5 lots of people were turned away as they were fully booked and I’m not surprised!

We found this restaurant by chance on a day trip to Beaumaris and so glad we did! Lots of choice and everything from the salad to the cod was very tasty and good value too for all the food we had! I loved Beaumaris so will definitely visit this restaurant again on our next trip.

The food was all really good. We were sat by the kitchen like a recent reviewer, who had a problem with that, but it was fine and we could see the 2 kitchen staff working hard.The food came quickly and portions were generous. You may want to order one fewer dish than you initially think. The service was friendly and efficient.The prices are reasonable for the location and based on our experience I'd recommended it to anyone.

Booked to go here today for lunch. Really wanted to taste some nice fish dishes and this place came recommended. What can I say the food was amazing! We had a variety of fish and meat dishes along with the cheese dish. Everything was beautifully presented and the flavours were incredible! Highly recommend giving this place a visit if you are in the area.

We ate here twice during our stay in Beaumaris, including our last night, and have been before on previous holidays. Good options for coeliacs, including some dishes you can't usually get. Can recommend the beef filets, padron peppers, tempura brocolli, garlic chilli prawns, calamari, paella and patatas bravas. The desserts (churros and brownies) were also tasty, as were the cocktails (passionfruit and espresso martinis) and wine. Our waiters were very friendly on both visits and food came at just the right times throughout the evening. Would definitely recommend!

Returned for a second visit to the Midland and found it to be very disappointing. Food was average and overpriced. Service was very slow and the young staff didn’t seem particularly interested. Atmosphere was good but the restaurant itself was very cold. Unfortunately I wont be returning.

Some friends booked a table for our last night in Beaumaris. I took along my iPad thinking I would get a great pic of all the tapas dishes on the table before we tucked in. Very hungry as walked miles that day !Here’s the thing, we had starters and wine, great..........but then every dish came one at a time. So we divided each dish into four portions.........waited........repeat next dish.......waited etc. This went on over several dishes. Bizarre. Never had more than one dish on the table at any time. So no pic. The glassy eyed waitress was very nice, but no direction for any of the young staff. An experience but we all went off feeling a bit bemused.N

Returned to Midland for the fourth time after some great food there in the past. Sadly not what it was. Food was poorly prepared. Lots of pureed uncooked garlic, Albondigas/meatballs were less Tapas and more like IKEA. Shwarma platter wasn't warm and poorly executed. They can fry potatoes OK, but so can the Neptune chippy across the road. Serving food a quality below their pricepoint. Service was so-so. Finally asked how things were when the bill was presented, only to be unreceptive to the feedback. Such a shame.

Visit for lunch after recommendation from family. Fabulous tapas and friendly service . Will definitely visit again .

Great food again after 2 years since last visit, very tasty and flavoursome. The portion sizes seemed a lot bigger though, so ordering 3 tapas each was actually too much food for us! Service was excellent too. We'd go again.

Nice restaurant, good decor, poor table placing.Visited on a Wednesday tea time. No mature manager present. Youngsters serving on, having a laugh together behind the bar, chatting to each other but ignoring customers, little customer service seen.Had to repeat ask 3 times for drinks more than once.Food was nice, good chefs, well done to the kitchen staff.Guess what the young staff got the bill wrong by almost £30 to their advantage.Unfortunately overall disappointed, not with food but service, shame.

The front of the restaurant looked ok but not very inspiring. Seating in the inner area were boring and dull. Inspite of booking ahead we were given the worst table in the restaurant next to the counter of cooking area. We were moved at our request to another table but with a time limit. Service was friendly and efficient (except for making us feel unwelcome with the table and table move). Food was over priced and below average in taste and quality. The restroom hand wash basin floods if you try to use warm water. Location is good like all other restaurants in Baumaris. We do not recommend this Tapas Restaurant.

Just been to the the midland for food, can't fault the food or the staff. Just a little bit disappointed with the fact that we decided to order a couple of mojitos to Finnish off our meal, half an hour later still waiting as the person behind the bar was too busy talking to provide us with our drinks, I never complain but as this was our first visit to the midland and beaumaris just a bit disappointed, but as I said the food was spot on and would definitely recommend it.

We were unsure what to expect from looking through the window but it was so much better than the initial impression. The menu was fairly extensive, the staff were helpful and all the food was very good. The only let down was the calamari. It was the weakest dish by far.

I was looking forward to coming here today after experiencing it a few years ago, but was disappointed with the good, the tempora brocoli was not the light batter you would expect and was so oily, the garlic mushrooms had far to many onions, the meat shamwara meat platter I believe it was called was cold and the beef was like a beef burger cut in half, calamari was breaded and not the light battered calamari, mini beed burgers was described by my partner as the taste of tinned meat balls. Such a shame as this felt like the place to go when it first opened and they have lost there street food, tapas vibe...and the passion of the food is definitely not there anymore.

We had dinner here yesterday - friendly staff, nice atmosphere and tasty food. We had 8 dishes between 2 of us but my husband does have a very big appetite! The meatballs are a must, absolutely delicious

The Midland has a lively atmosphere and the staff were charming. We had a mix of Tapas, some we preferred to others but in general we really enjoyed our dinner. We had 4 dishes and the portions were generous and we could not eat all of them. The pork shoulder was delicious. A fun place to visit and we would order less next time.

Shared a range of dishes between 5 of us, had 14 I think and we didn't leave much as it was all so lovely. The black cod was great as was the chorizo and salami. The food came out bit at a time and kept us interested. The peppers on the platter were amazing too. Would definitely recommend and will go back again. Haven't been since before lockdown but it was definitely worth the wait. Wasn't disappointed.

Excellent food, ordered about 13 items between the 4 of us and everything was incredible, I would highly recommend the “patas bravas”, fairly priced, ambience of the restaurant as a whole was great, very friendly and approachable staff.

We had been to The Midland a couple of times before and decided it would be a great venue for a joint Big Birthday bash. 15 plus a baby descended on Saturday night are we were not in the slightest disappointed. We had been in contact with the manager Emma a few weeks beforehand and on the day dropped in a pre order for Tapas an hour or so before we were due to arrive to ensure the kitchen wasn’t overwhelmed. They coped brilliantly. The food was fabulous, some of the best tapas I and my guests have ever had. Portions are great and the staff were amazing. A fabulous night had by all. Highly recommend a visit here.

Excellent food but we were recommended to get 4/5 dishes for each person which would have come in at well over £200 so we opted for far fewer! Lovely food and lovely atmosphere.

If I were you I’d give this a miss if you have anyone in the party with allergies....visited with my partner and allergy loaded little boy earlier today....asked to speaks to the chef directly as we weren’t particularly confident in the floor staff. Told the chap of our issues milk egg sesame and nuts - then asked for a tapas style of burger without the brioche which unbeknown to us had milk and egg content. We also requested a portion of potatoes without spicy sauce - ended up coming with the sauce - I’d be very careful if kids have allergies going here - the place wasn’t even that busy today. The straw fries were warm chipsticks that didn’t retain their heat... Positives - Burgers were good for a non allergen with peppercorn sauce - food was quick to be served and a good selection, decoration stylish and alluring but I honestly thought the tapas style dishes didn’t quite fit with the Beaumaris lunch crowd...try and get a table in the front space if you can...the rear of house feels a little underwhelming visually.

The restaurant was one our highlights staying in Beaumaris. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The food was probably a bit more expensive than I imagined - however, the range of dishes and the quality of food were unmatched in Beaumaris in my opinion. We would very much recommend booking a visit here. The goats cheese in particular was delicious!

Overpriced for the minute portions. Food is nice but just not enough of it! It isn't a standard tapas bar as such but tapas with twists which in itself is fine but it's very poor value for money. You would need to order twice as much tapas as usual to not leave feeling hungry. The paella came to the table very quickly (oddly) whereby other dishes took a lot longer. Was really looking forward to eating here whilst on holiday in Beaumaris but left feeling disappointed (& hungry)! On a positive, the staff were very polite.

Early doors on a Saturday evening and the place was buzzing! Despite this, the service was excellent, drinks and all dishes delivered in good time, and the food was amazing!

If anybody has ever travelled to Spain and had the pleasure of going to a local Spanish bar and had some tapas, this restaurant will take you back there.This was the perfect spot of lunch that we’d been craving, the waiter, originally from Argentina, showed us to our table as there was availability for walk ins, although evenings may require booking a table. We ordered the bread selection with what I can only assume was a home made alioli (garlic & mayonnaise) patas bravas, albóndigas (meatballs), alitas de pollo (bbq chicken wings served with a blue cheese sauce) and jamón serrano (dry cured Spanish ham) - we did want the chicken & chorizo paella, however they’d unfortunately sold out - I would probably recommend this dish if we had it! The serving sizes were perfect as it wasn’t too much or too little, typical tapas where you try a bit of everything while catching up with a glass of wine or cider in my case. Price wise, considering the location, I’d say it’s spot on, you’ve got to remember you aren’t in Spain, so you won’t get Spanish prices plus all the food is cooked fresh too - another bonus! Service was spot on too, cannot fault it and we had a brilliant experience through out!

I have been to the Midland Beaumaris before and it was been excellent. Not this time. I can only describe it as absolutely shocking. There was 3 of us booked in for 13:45. We had to wait 50 minutes for the first dish of garlic prawns to come out. The garlic was raw. We then waited a further 15 minutes for some of the other dishes to come out. Some of which had already sat on someone else’s table. We also were offered some of theirs. The quality of the ingredients was appalling. Calamari from the frozen section of a very cheap supermarket. Cheap chorizo. Pitta bread not warmed through. Fried eggs that should have oozed out over the straw chips could have been used as frisbees they were so hard. It was actually laughable it was so bad. The waiter did say that they were short staffed in the kitchen. I think they were missing the chef because whoever was cooking couldn’t cook. Our bill was nearly £70. The waiter did discount it by 20% but that still meant I paid over £50 for what can only be described as the worse meal ever. It should have been free! If this was my restaurant and I was risking my reputation because I was missing staff and local fresh produce was unavailable I wouldn’t open. They were people asking for tables, but the midland was fully booked today. They got away lightly. I have never left a bad review before, so I don’t make a habit of this. We warned. Don’t waste you money like I just have. Dreadful! We won’t be returning

Decided to visit Beaumaris last munute, and as it was lunch time, we enquired about a table, not expecting a positive response, but thankfuly they had a table for us We had drinks to mull over the menu, a pint of Estrella for me and a half gor Mrs H, very nice and refreshing. We opted for Straw Fries, Garlic Mushrooms, King Prawns (on chilli & garlic), The peeking pig (4 pieces of twice cooked pork belly with peking sauce and chilli slices and corriander) and the veg paella. All of it was delicious and not a scrap left on our plates or the serving dishes.We highly revommend The Midland, and for £38 for all the above, we will be back!

We had a lovely lunch here the food was great, the best calamari ever and the serves was great, would highly recommend and would go back again..

Excellent food all round. Staff were attentive and chefs got our food ready really well as it mostly came together and was hot. Calamari is lovely!

Booked an evening meal here during our break in Beaumaris not knowing what to expect but we were not disappointed. Delicious tapas in good portions and reasonably priced, served by helpful, friendly and courteous staff. Something on the menu for most tastes.All Covid guidelines followed. Will certainly return and would highly recommend.

Had a great family meal. We booked online half an hour prior and hadn't come through. When we arrived kitchen had just shut. They reopened especially for us, even though we offered to just forget it as didn't want to put them to any trouble. Food was delicious and staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Well worth a visit.

Visited on a day out to Beamauris and we were so thrilled . The children had some mini burgers mini fries and chicken bites so they were happy too. We had the potatas bravas , goats cheese Black cod which was divine! Super friendly staff I dont usually get chance to write trip advisor reviews but it was just so good. Compliments to the chefs !

What a find! Looked at the reviews for this restaurant and booked. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by Emma who also recommended a great wine as my choice was not available - it was a great wine and I would never have chosen it. Also was not the most expensive on the menu - kudos to you. Kieran was a major multi tasker serving many tables with ease and was so friendly, polite and calm even though he was really busy - he never flapped. He exuded the ultimate swan. The kitchen staff probably need the most praise because the food was fantastic - quickly delivered and super tasty. Large portions for tapas. The atmosphere - music especially was fab and really helped the flow of the night. We didn’t try the cocktails purely because the wine was so good. If you love tapas and good food then don’t miss a visit if you are in Beaumaris. Well done to everyone - you did yourselves proud!

The food was excellent, service was really attentive. A must if you are in the area. The best tapas I’ve had in ages Well done to a great team.

Have had tapas at many restaurants in Spain and in the UK and this is the 1st time I have experienced extreme disappointment for value for money.From menu chose mediterranean platter to share plus 2 other tapas dishes - to share as a couple - and on recommendation of waitress. Mediterranean platter was simply one normal dinner plate (not platter) with at least a third of the food being the peppers and only 1 small piece of each of the 2 cheeses detailed on the menu plus 2 pieces of serrano harm, a very few artichokes and sunfried tomotoes and courgettes. Total cost £16.90 - very poor quantity and range of the items detailed on the menu. Also olives provided which were not on the menu and as I dislike olives, would not have been chosen this 'platter' if known beforehand.Other 2 dishes: calamari dish very good; croqueta de pescado y patata dish tasty but a little disappointed as served as one 'fish cake' and expecting 2 smaller croqueta - a tapas dish after all!

Absolutely delicious food, not traditional tapas but just as good, certainly worth a visit and we’ll be back anytime when in the area and would recommend to anyone.Staff are excellent, attentive without being over bearing.The mini welsh burgers are quite simply scrumptious hence why we ordered a second serving!,

Visited this restaurant on Saturday evening with the family, great food, great service! Would definitely recommend!

Great fun night out. Sat at the high table and chatted with the staff who were without doubt fun and offered great service. Food comes thick and fast so suggest you order in stages rather than all at once. Food was delicious, cocktails and wine tasty so couldn’t want for more

Excellent food, tasty and good size tapas. We had 4 between 2 of us. Very good value for money. Staff were friendly, would visit again.

We dined here as a family of four on our daughters 18th birthday. The food was second to none. The range of tapas on offer was varied with vegan options available and each dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The staff were attentive without being over bearing and even sang an impromptu "happy birthday" for my daughter. This is a great restaurant and well worth a visit.

Called the restaurant to book a table for 2 at 8pm, which they confirmed. Turned up and whoever booked it did it for the incorrect date and we were turned away on the last night of our visit in Beaumaris. Shambles. They did nothing except tell us we MIGHT get a table if we wait. Poor service. Won't go again.

The food was ok but really nothing special. Very over priced for such small dishes. We spent £66 for two adults and two young children and left feeling hungry

We had good food, despite a number of items on the menu not being available. Service was efficient, but not particularly friendly. Good choice of cocktails.

We dined here once before and was fantastic so decided to book again . We booked well in advance for my daughter’s 16th birthday. We arrived and were left waiting by the door for ten minutes even though it wasn’t that busy . When we were let in we were seated and we browsed the menu . We must have been there about 20 minutes before they took our drinks order . After about 5 minutes the waitress returned and said they didn’t have Malibu which is what my wife ordered, so instead she ordered a disaronno . A few minutes later she returned and said they didn’t have any . So my wife ordered a southern comfort and coke . 5 minutes later the waitress returned with a disaronno. After about 20 minutes the waitress returned to take our food order . We were still waiting for our drinks order as my wife was the only one that had been served . After another 20 minutes we had to call the waitress over to take our food order . We waited for our food really looking forward to it and then a bowl of potatoes turned up . We sat waiting for the rest and ten minutes later another bowl of potatoes turned up . We waited another ten minutes and nothing . There was six of us dining and we ordered 15 bowls . I called the manager over and I explained everything to him and his reply was we serve it as it’s cooked and he didn’t seem that bothered . Surely you serve everyone together. I was absolutely disgusting with the level of service. It wasn’t just one thing it was everything. We left and went to the Indian restaurant up the road . The staff and the food was absolutely fantastic. I would not recommend the Midland at all and we will never return .

Amazing!! The food is so fresh. If I was to recommend one dish it would be the blackened cod. Although the potato straws, fried egg and chorizo was something else. Staff are brilliant. Must be so difficult for them during COVID but they do a fantastic job. Cannot rate this place highly enough

We arrived at the Midland Tapas today for lunch and despite some mix up with our booking and what appeared to be a bit of a shortage in staff, both the service and the food was exceptional. One of the kitchen staff was helping out with service as well as cooking, and was definitely going above and beyond The food was delicious, plenty of it and all very hot and tastyThank you so much for a fabulous lunch this was our 2nd visit and we will be back again

We ordered a varied selection of tapas that were brought to the table at intervals except two tapas that never arrived. When queried with the waiter, he said they had stopped serving food (it was a few minutes past 3.00 pm) and made no attempt to check if the kitchen would provide the missing order but simply told us the items would be taken off the bill. Not what we expected. The food that we had was fine but customer service was disappointingly poor.

We first visited in November 2018 and have dreamt about returning ever since. The only concern was would it be as good as we remembered? ….. well we weren’t disappointed , so much so we returned twice on our 1 week trip to Beaumaris! The food was fresh and tasty with the menu building on some tapas traditionals to some individual unique dishes! The fillet of beef and black cod are to die for and that’s just a couple of the many dishes we tried…All I can say is that the food was amazing and we would recommend anyone to visit whilst they are in the local vicinity and try for themselves! Oh and don’t forget the strawberry cheese cake for dessert … “the best cheese cake I’ve ever had”. On top of the great food and atmosphere of the restaurant we got the opportunity to meet, talk and socialise with ‘the midland’ family who are a fantastic, energetic, friendly and welcoming group of people. Lost count how many times we have now eaten here. Every time we book to come to Anglesey we book The Midland. Tonight I had a dish that wasn’t what I expected and straight away it was sorted. Food amazing, staff amazing can’t wait to comeback in August.

My wife and I called at Midland Tapas and Wine Bar for lunch on a Friday in June 2021. The waiter was friendly, and found us a table immediately (the bar was comfortably busy).We ordered draft beer (me) and wine (my wife) from the bar, and the waiter helped us to choose five tapas dishes from the 40-ish? menu choices.The food came quickly and was delicious. We would definitely lunch or dinner here again.

The staff at the Midland were so accommodating (e.g. leaving chillis out of food - being gluten free friendly), atmosphere excellent, food well presented and very tasty. I felt the place was well set up to be covid safe with the screens and organisation which I was very impressed with. My friend was worried that her mum would not like anything on the menu (Janet said that it was the best food she had had in a long while - the fillet steak and the prawns) Highly recommended.

Having eaten here countless times since they opened I'm sorry to say the standards have dropped considerably in recent times. No ambiance or music to be heard so very little atmosphere. All the staff serving seemed very young and inexperienced. I am not agesit but there didn't seem to be any management in site overseeing things. We weren't offered extra drinks and had to ask for them, the food that we did have was just ok and run of the mill tapas that can be had in any chain resteraunt. They used to have authentic and well finished dishes that stood out from the norm but unfortunately that is not the case now. Also the espresso Martini's were terrible.Parts of the resteraunt also looks tired and in need of a freshen up especially the gents. I know they have expanded recently so Is this a case of growing too quickly and taking your eye off the ball? The past couple of visits to both the midland and libertine have been unfortunately average at best. I understand hospitality has taken a knock over the last year but some basic things need to be put right here. Come on midland pull it back together. Love a disappointment loyal customer. X

Prawns amazing, mushrooms very good, bread nice but over priced. Drinks good. Good for a Monday night but wouldn’t like to have had this experience on a Saturday. Broken toilet seat no toilet roll which is important to me. Restaurant quite plain not much decor. Best place to go in this area but lacks atmosphere.

Went as a couple - very small tables for a tapas menu. Had some problems with one dish, but staff were courteous and addressed the issue. Encouraged to stay for drinks but unfortunately nothing we asked for was available. No Brandy or Whisky.Overall good food, but catering for the younger clientele.

We had lunch at the Midland.The staff were ok. The food was lovely but some portions were a little small.The bill seemed high. It was a treat lunch for us, first time eating out in months.Maybe expectations were too high.It felt safe and there were lots of walk ins turned away so booking is definitely needed.

We popped here on the off-chance there was space for lunch as fully booked at other times (good sign!), and they squeezed us in. Food was delicious and reasonably priced for tapas, service friendly and quick. Would definitely return!

Fully booked for the evening we wanted, so opted for a lunchtime visit instead and we were not disappointed. A pleasant, contemporary space, with equally pleasant and accommodating staff. Each tapas was excellent, but the standout dish was that old standby, patatas bravas, which was the best we have ever tasted (and there have been many!). A very pleasant atmosphere pervaded despite the inclement weather outside. All in all, a very satisfying meal.

The family visited here on the 21st May 2021. There was 7 of us but they were more than happy to accommodate us across 2 tables (4 and 3). The menu was exceptional with something for everyone. A few meals to mention that live in the memory - the paprika egg, chorizo on straw fries - just incredible , full of flavour. The three mini burgers - I'm 46 years of age and I've never tasted a burger patty as good as that. The black Cod - it was admittedly on the small size but good god it was incredible, the flavour was out of this world and the cooking, sublime. Honestly, every single dish was a 10/10. We all left the place happy, full and remarking to each other how it was one of, if not the best tasting meals we had all had. Some achievement. Oh, and I almost forgot. They allowed our little doggy, Betty, to sit with us and she was also looked after with a wee bowl of water.

Just visited this evening with all the family , table of 4 and table of 3 . Great atmosphere , great food and great service . All the staff were so pleasant and cheerful . Tapas were great , thank you for a lovely experience .

Fantastic food, let down by service. Big gap between drinks arrival to the table with no explanation. Drinks slow coming. Not offered more rounds of drink, had to ask. Slow at taking plates away. Never got offered dessert. When we eventually asked if we could order dessert they told us we couldn’t because the kitchen was closed! (They did give us dessert in the end). However, as stated at the beginning of this review - lovely food.

We had late lunch here while waiting to go to the boat in Holyhead back to dublin. Food was delicious and wines were great perfect for dinner as well. Will definitely be back when we are next in the area
