Had Danny as my Server today being my first visit with my partner. He was amazing, very welcoming, polite and knowledgeable. I truly recommend the place as it has a great warm environment and very cozy too.

I have regularly been to have meals here for many years and have brought clients here to dine. However, I attended with my wife for dinner as it was her birthday celebration meal, we had eaten two courses, which took about an hour, and then we were told that we needed to vacate the table as it was required to make up a table for 8 people despite other people having nearly finished their meals nearby. When I disputed this I was told that I could sit in the bar area which was crowded, with no free tables. As you can imagine , we left.!!! I am disgusted by the attitude of the staff and the management and I will now find somewhere else to take my business.

We visited the Mermaid today to celebrate Mother’s Day. We were served by a lovely young g lady called Kylie. Kylie was very friendly, attentive and helpful, advising as required. The service from start to finish was flawless. We each had three courses, all of which were delicious. Considering that it was a busy afternoon, the food all came out in a timely manner and the service was seamless. Thank you Kylie for your time today. We will definitely be back.

We walked in with my elderly dad who uses sticks and walks slowly. The server behind the bar showed us to our table. Well, I say showed us to the table. He walked way too fast for us to keep up whilst ensuring my dad was also ok, so we looked around until we found the table. We were told someone would come and take our drinks order shortly. Around 20 minutes later, I gave up waiting and decided to go to the bar myself. Bumped into the server who said she was coming to take the order. She apologised and said they were really busy. I’d say less than a third of the tables were occupied. The drinks then did arrive and we ordered food. Two of us had Sunday roasts and the other two had fish and chips and chicken schnitzel. The food was awful! My parents said it was the worst roast they’d ever had and the chips were cold on the other 2 meals. Service was really slow and the servers very sullen. There was an issue when we were paying and the manager was so rude. As we were leaving, people were getting fed up with wait times and the fact they’d run out of so much food. Definitely wouldn’t recommend and certainly won’t return.

Absolutely lovely pub with an excellent team. My family and I joined a large surprise party for a dear family member. The team at the pub were absolutely excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Despite us not having preordered they arranged meals for 30+ guests and kept the entire party happy despite the rest of the venue being very busy also.
