We popped in with no reservation. The service was pleasant and we felt welcome. Food was fine. I had venison!! Other dishes were more mundane.

We went with another couple for an evening meal reviews looked ok, we were seated in a family eating area, pub was only 10% full, the decor was very sad and tired, sticky tables. we had a burger fish and chips and two baked Halibut, the portion of fish was tiny (£15) and over cooked, the Halibut was over cooked and had a sour sauce, should have come with a medley of vegetables, what actually came was a very large portion of green beans...!! we were asked how our meal was and I explained our concerns, waitress said she would pass on our comments, heard nothing more. Overall the food was over cooked and over priced, decor very average, service ok, and no apology about the food.

My wife and l stayed one night with a short notice booking during covid, so only a twin room was available. A comfortable room, ple ty of space especially the bathroom providing bath as well as an excellent shower, light and airy. Plenty of wardrobe space with a handy fridge. Only concern was noise from adjoining rooms due to thin partition walls that allowed normal level verbal communication to be heard. The evening meal was excellent, as was the breakfast. Staff were courteous and attentative, adhering to the required covid safety procedures. Parking allowed residents vehicles to be in close proximity to their accomodation providing ease of luggage transfer. We would book again should we be in the area, and recommend to those considering the experience of the Marsham Arms.

We picked the Marsham Arms because it was close to friends staying locally, and because of the good reviews. Our room was a decent size to accommodate our dog but slightly disappointed that our first choice room, with a king size bed, was not available because of the dog. I think our room could have easily accommodated a larger bed. Decent sized bathroom with great shower. The garden car park smelled somewhat of sewage which was a shame, but probably not easily solvable. We had dinner one night with our friends but the meal was disappointing. The hake seemed to have been defrosted and was overcooked, one had many bones. The staff were however excellent in not charging for one and offering a free dessert. However the breakfasts were delightful, served in the garden on two warm mornings, respecting COVID limitations. There was a lot of choice, the options were plentiful, the mains were beautifully cooked, and still hot when served, excellent multigrain toast, fabulous homemade granola and berry compote. Would go back again, and not just for the breakfasts

Came for a birthday meal with my wife as someone who hasn't been here before. Cracking little place. Lovely theme to the restaurant, polite and efficient waiting staff and the food is top quality. We loved the menu and felt it offered variety and uniqueness. Had a 3 course dinner each and we had such a great time. We were genuinely so happy with the quality and taste of the food and can't compliment it more. One tiny little thing that we would like to mention is the lack of background ambiance. Although the place was busy, just some light, quiet music in the background would have completed the experience. Not booming out, but just something subtle in the back would have been a good touch.

The Marsham Arms was my first choice after reading a well designed website which detailed reassuring COVID safeguarding measures.Parking is no problem, with plenty of space and the location is convenient for much of Norfolk. I am a supporter of the Hillside Animal Sanctuary at West Runton and this is just under 20 miles away. The layout of the small double rooms makes good use of space and represents value for money without compromising on comfort. We were blessed with good weather and therefore the fan was a welcome item. The food served in the attractive garden and restaurant was so enjoyable that we consequently booked dinner for the second night too and I'd like to add that as a vegetarian it was so refreshing to find good choices, not the 'take it or leave it' one item approach favoured by some. The breakfast bags worked well and again, compliments to the chef on the delicious home baked flapjacks, which were fantastic. As a coffee drinker, a decent coffee bag was also much appreciated - honestly these details make such a difference!Without exception the team of staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. I plan to return and have no hesitation in recommending.

Nice pub, pleasant staff, good beers, but the food was really not very good. Two of us had chips which were undercooked, almost raw potato, and the other meals were not great either. That may be why the place was very quiet when every other restaurant north of Norwich was booked. It could only be a lazy chef, the chips even looked uncooked. So sadly it is a poor review.

We stayed her for 4 nights on a short break in Norfolk visiting family and sightseeing the broads and Yarmouth the room was amazing as was the evening meal we stayed in the penthouse suite above the inn the view was lovely , the room came with a fan which was a god send the first few nights as it was a warm by day and also we had a mini fridge in the room for drinks we brought with us the deep bath was fab even if I struggled to get out , the show was great and it was nice they have a rubber bath mat for the shower so we didn’t slip a few hotels we have stayed in could take note of this , the only little complaints I had was the velux window blind didn’t work the young man came and took a look and said for now took it out side the window and we will get it looked at but no one ever did and we couldn’t leave it hanging out the window as it was to noisy with traffic off the main road out side so we put up With light coming through on a morning and the other thing was the door downstairs omg it was constantly banging when people came though it it would slam shut , maybe u could put some thing on it to stop it slamming , the breakfast was very disappointing as like other people said it was very dry in a paper bag and we only got 2 pastry’s and jam with 2 orange drinks and a coffee sachet to share this wasn’t really continental, we ended up having to drive to aylsham for breakfast as my husband doesn’t eat that sort of thing on the wednesday morning at around 830 when we were going out for breakfast we could smell bacon been cooked in the hotel and an other guest even commented about it saying they can cook for them self but not us because of covid , but other than that we really do like the hotel just shame about the breakfast offerings we would defo stay again if we were to come back.

We had 2 nights staying here and two Very nice meals. The rooms were very comfortable and set apart from the main pub so lovely and quiet. The pub was very organised to be covid safe and we felt quite happy. You need to book as both nights they were fully booked for meals, but after 8:30 pm it quietened down a lot so you would probably be ok. The only draw back was the breakfast which is given to you as a packed ‘hamper’ a paper bag. You get a drink carton, 2 pastries, yogurt and a home made granola bar which was lovely. I felt that to have a Luke warm yogurt and drink ( both pasteurised so didn’t need to be refrigerated) and cold croissant not very appealing. Hopefully they will revert to offering a cooked breakfast again soon. To be fair, on the second day I asked for hard boiled egg and fruit which they were happy to provide but if you have heating on overnight I’m not sure it would be safe to eat.

We have just had a lovely 3 nights at this well run and characterful coaching inn. In particular, we have been impressed by the staff . They have paid attention to detail and requirements and succeeded in making guests feel safe and cared-for. Rooms are comfortable and clean and the meals are well prepared and flavoursome. We particularly like the Sunday roast and the fresh Cromer crab salad. Desserts were generous. The garden can accommodate many guests and still provide safe social distancing. The small disappointment was the bag of continental breakfast issued to each room, but we understand that this arrangement is due to the Covid restrictions. We took what we wanted( juice, croissants, coffee bags) then went out for real fresh coffee elsewhere. In all, a wonderful base for exploring the North Norfolk coast and surrounding rural villages. But the dedication of the staff who run The Marsham Arms is what makes it special. Thank you!

First time back here for a couple of years for a midweek dinner. Chicken was off the small menu, which restricted choice. I won't detail the meals, but the combinations are mysterious, the portions meagre, and somewhat overpriced at £18 and upwards for mains, and £7+ for a dessert. How is there justification in £15 for simple fish and chips? Yes no doubt places like this will be busy on the run up to Christmas, but for a midweek dinner it must do better. I left feeling cheated, therefore will vote with my feet.

Not a good start when we were advised by the waitress of a quite long list of meals that they’d run out of - which was quite disappointing as this halved the kid’s choices and they would have almost certainly have chosen them, and I probably would have too - but the waitress was very pleasant, and at least she told us straight away while handing us the menu rather than waiting until we were ready to order. It was curry night so we ordered chicken and prawn masalas which were very nice and including a wine or beer also good value. The kids both had ham, egg and chips as they didn’t fancy the only other available kid’s options, which was enjoyed more by the youngest who would sometimes pick that as an option anyway. The eldest was less fussed, but managed the chips (obviously!) and the egg. All in all, an enjoyable meal, in a nice setting with friendly staff. Only really let down by the lack of choices, mostly affecting the kid’s meals.

We made a last minute decision to go to the Marsham Arms for an evening meal, not having been there for a while (for no particular reason). Although the staff were very busy, they were polite and the service was good. I ordered a ribeye steak - medium rare - and my husband ordered the haddock. My steak was cooked to perfection; very tender and tasty. My husband said his fish was very good, and he particulary enjoyed the mushy peas with a hint of mint! The chips which accompanied both were firm, crispy and not at all soggy - just how we like them. Will be going back very soon!!

Once again we thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night stay at Marsham Arms. The food was excellent and the extensive menu certainly caters for all tastes. We really liked the Curry Night on Monday, very tasty and excellent value. As usual the staff were super efficient and really welcoming. Couldn't fault our stay and would thoroughly recomend Marsham

This was a family visit early on a Friday evening. We arrived in good time and parked in the large car park close to the steps leading down to the main entrance. A long walk past the toilets and through part of the main restaurant brought us to the bar. Several staff were engaged in conversation on both sides of the bar. I finally caught someone’s eye and confirmed we had a reservation we were advised the table was in a booth on the left back the way we had come but as we wanted to wait for the rest of the party to arrive we sat at a table near the bar and ordered a drink. My wife a diabetic asked for a J20 spritzer as they are low in sugar these were not stocked no other low calorie alternative was offered and so a sparkling water was decided on I had an Appletise being the driver. It is several years since we have visited The Marsham arms but not much has changed it is pleasantly decorated clean tidy and welcoming but was a little quiet the remainder of our party arrived we bought drinks and were shown to our table. We looked at the menu and it became clear that the choice was limited. A page of specials was with the menu but all prices were in my opinion on the high side with a baked salmon at £17 and ham egg and chips at £13 I had pork belly and extra onion rings for £20. We had skipped starters that had not excited us to leave room for sweets later at £5 for three small balls of ice cream and £7 for a slab of rock hard semifredo we were not sure this had been a wise choice best value was a coffee for £2 but this was forgotten and had to be re requested The main course portions were in my opinion small my belly pork had crispy crackling but had been rolled and was dried up and tough it came on a bed of mash with not much else had I not have ordered the onion rings which were homemade and excellent this would have been a small meal lost on a large plate. In my opinion on this occasion the portion size and quality did not match the price a disappointment. We will try again perhaps on a lunchtime.

Met a friend for supper and called in on spec - so glad we did! Excellent theme night! Tuesday apparently is fish night and we had sea bass and a delicious dessert for £17.95 each - such good value. Good selection of wines and gins. Will definitely go again.

This was such a lucky find for us, we have to go to that part of the country a few times a year and will be sure to to be going back to the Marsham Arms . We had incredibly good food, incredibly good service, in fact for us it was simply 10 out of 10 so next time we shan't only dine there on our necessary visits to the area, we intend to stay there too. Thanks for a great meal, we were impressed.

Have stayed several times and each time the food, wine and beers have been v good. Staff also friendly and efficient. I am disabled and use a mobility scooter, the only problem and warning for anyone disabled is that the so called disabled room, whilst large with wet room, it has no grab rails to the WC or wash basin. This makes it very difficult depending on your condition. Other than level access and wet room there is nothing for disabled guests.

We dropped in here after a couple of days walking in Lincolnshire. We had a very acceptable house merlot while looking at the menu. All the meals we chose were extremely good. We eat out quite a lot and it is a long time since all four of us loved our meals. My friend and I chose the sea bass on a cassoulet of beans and tomatoes which was absolutely delicious and my husband chose the belly pork which was also excellent with proper cracking! Our other friend chose the seafood linguini which she also raved about. The staff were friendly and the bill was really not bad for the quality of cooking we had received. Thank you for a meal we are still relishing and telling others about.

Me and my partner went here for a last lovely breakfast before we went into lockdown. Everything was amazing. My partner had the breakfast sandwich and I had a large full English. Food was beautiful and excellent quality - especially the mushrooms! Wish I knew the secret to those! I took a sausage home as I couldn’t finish it and had it later that day and it was so nice. Can’t wait to come back when things open again but we certainly be getting a take away too in the meantime!

If you’re touching down in Norwich and feel a little bit frisky for a brunch time cocktail Franks Bar is your place. Upon finishing our first round of cocktails brunch arrived…I don’t know what hen was laying these golden eggs but they were scrambled to perfection, and the shakshouka, well DAMN. Somehow we managed to avoid the cakes on our way out, but they were looking 👌🏼
