The Marine in Eastbourne

Went in for a quick drink after a meal, they were just serving last orders but not too pushy to kick you out, pleasant atmosphere and one of the best pubs left in Eastbourne

We had a Sunday lunch @ The Marine and fully enjoyed our experience. Pub is quite big and very busy (good sign) but lovely staff found space to accommodate us even without the booking. We had one of daily special (two plates of ribs slowly cooked in BBQ sauce with vegetables and chips). Food was fantastic, tasty and portion enormous (pls keep that in mind as we were not able to finish our meal) All very well priced (I wish I could try more from the menu) and wine list quite impressive over all great experience and highly recommended.

Had the most wonderful meal with amazing service. The staff make you feel so relaxed and ensure you have a relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Proper pub serving proper pub food. The Marine is our go too for a Sunday Roast, currently £11.95. My husband and myself love a roast out and have had many, some good some ok some bad. The Marine is consistently good. A great wine selection, including my favourite a white Spanish Rioja, and good beer selection too. We went Sunday and sat in the snug, warm comfortable and very clean. Great polite efficient friendly service. Excellent proper sticky toffee pudding Great cheese and biscuits selection. If you are in Eastbourne please go if you are after a lovely friendly clean pub, serving great pub food.

Super relaxed Pub with an excellent fresh ingredients menu. A great killer playlist also.

Lovely cosy pub ,fantastic Christmas decorations, food excellent, lovely and friendly. Very large dining area also they cater for large parties.

This is a great traditional pub with a good atmosphere. We were there on New Year’s Eve and the ceiling was covered with an amazing tinsel decoration.

Popped in on Christmas day for a cheeky mulled wine. Atmosphere was completely buzzing. Staff were friendly despite being rushed off their feet. The Christmas decorations lent to the festive ambience and made for a perfect start to the day.

Great family tradition going here each Christmas. They also make a great pot of tea

Went in for christmas work dinner. The food was lovely and the service was great. The christmas decorations are crazy busy and must have taken so long to put up, and this is done everywhere, very impressive. The staff were happy to be there and making our visit a better one. Thank you

The food was amazing and what’s surprising was the price. Took a group of friends from London to eat at the Marine after a recommendation. There wasn’t a dissatisfied person among us and we all had different dishes. Looking for food book to go here.

Great pub. Great traditional food in a friendly well run pub. Friendly helpful service, catering for everyone. If you get a chance go in December when the Xmas decorations are up, very festive and perfect for a works party meal. Casual seating at front and proper dinning tables in a large conservatory out back provide plenty of options as well as bar seating.

A family dinner for Christmas and we're looked after extremely well by Sarah and her girls a personal service with lovely food in a beautifully decorated pub with thousands of lights!!

When you walk in you can't Help but notice the amazing Christmas 🎄 decorations... Very nice interaction from staff Will most definitely go back and I recommend any one to go in there 😁

I had the mexican sausage, must admit best sausages I've ever tasted, I would have given 5 stars but the mashed potatoes let them down all they needed was salt and pepper ,apart from that great my daughter who is veggie had thai green curry and was delicious.

First time and the staff was very friendly. Really nice atmosphere and Christmas decorations were a delight to my eyes.

Visiting some old friends, we were looking for a place to have a few beers and get some food, ended up in The Marine where we were greeted with a warm welcome. After a few beers sitting in the comfy chairs at the front of the bar, we headed to the tables at the back and ordered food at the bar from a variety of enticing dishes on the menu. The Thai Red curry was amazing, and my fellow companions said their steak and ale pie / cheese burger etc were equally delicious. Big portions, served hot, great beer great service. So good we returned the following week. Another warm welcome and a short wait whilst the landlord changed a barrel in order to satisfy our request, but more great food and good service. The Xmas decorations are amazing and deserve a special mention. Beats ‘neverspoons’ hands down, highly recommended.

We stumbled on this pub by accident whilst staying nearby & so pleased we did , what a lovely experience. We were greeted by a lovely lady who told us the kitchen was just about to shut so we were able to hastily make an order. Clean friendly local with very good food , reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit & would highly recommend.

On holiday in Eastbourne last week and Googled ‘restaurants’. The Marine came up and looked fine. Went on Saturday and we were not disappointed. The staff advised a different entrance for us as we had a wheelchair and wanted us to avail ourselves of all the Marine had to offer. Very friendly server provided drinks and took our orders. The garlic mushroom starter and the prawn cocktail starter were to die for! The scampi was ‘melt in the mouth’. Everything cooked to order and very hot and the prices were excellent. This will be our ‘go to’ place when we return to Eastbourne in the Spring and Autumn.

Absolutely love this pub. If it’s a quite beer after work, a few pre drinks before a night out or a lovely meal this pub has it all. I love all the staff here they really take the time to get to know you and always up for a chat. I love this pub it’s definitely worth coming here. The food is amazing or if you want a light snack then you’ve got to try the cheese and biscuits! Great selection of food and drinks and even on a really busy night they get the food and drink out really quick. If you haven’t seen the Christmas decorations during festive time then it’s worth coming in just to see that. Highly recommend I’ll say it again this is the best pub in town

I’ve lived in Eastbourne for over 38 years and I’ve never been to this pub. We had a Sunday lunch of roast Turkey and others in our group had roast lamb. Quality of the food was amazing, 3 decent size dinners that totalled £30 plus drinks - brilliant, we will be back. Recommend

A traditional family run pub in a clean no-frills establishment. We had two excellent mains, no room left for pudding. The Harvey's Sussex Bitter was in perfect condition.. There was a 30 minute wait for the food as the place was fairly full: always a good sign. We live 200 miles away, but If we are ever in the area again we will return. Highly recommended.

First visit . Fantastic food all home cooked . Very friendly. Made to feel very welcome though was a busy Sunday lunch time . Food exceptional home cooked and a good variety. Waiting staff brilliant . 4 main courses and 4 alcoholic drinks all for just under £70 . Will go again . Please try it yourself

Great home cooked pub food at a very reasonable price. We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived and were shown to our table after being offered a drink. My wife had garlic prawns to start with, me having deep fried camembert i had the rib eye steak for main and my wife the burger both were very tasty. The service was very good throughout. Drinks were also very reasonably priced. Very enjoyable evening and would 100% retirement in Eastbourne again. Thanks.

We ate here the 4 nights of our holiday and we were greeted every night in a friendly manner by the bar staff and also the waitresses were always ready to get you another drink and bring your meals and seemed happy in their job.the...

This pub never disappoints us. Busy airshow week so booked well in advance. Good food at a really good price. Love their fajitas in there. Good choice of food and excellent service. The servers are always busy but have always found them cheerful and welcoming....

Staying nearby during the Eastbourne airshow we chanced upon the Marine and we are so glad we did. Good beer and superb food (recommend the fish and chips) . The staff were super friendly too.

Where do I begin? I made a reservation with Sarah, on the day we were going to be late, so I phoned and a chap said no problem. Staff here are great, very friendly and helpful, check back, brought us more drinks to our table....

Wir waren Mitte Juli für einige Tage in Eastbourne und haben „The Marine“ an zwei Abenden besucht. Die Atmosphäre ist super, die Leute freundlich und das Essen ist sehr gut und reichlich. Die Getränkeauswahl lässt keine Wünsche offen. Die Hintergrundmusik ist gut ausgewählt und nicht zu aufdringlich. Wir wurden angenehm unterhalten und werden beim nächsten Besuch in Eastbourne auf jeden Fall wieder dort einkehren.

Looking for something a little different from the normal fare, then look no further than the Marine, excellent tasty food, served without fuss and at a reasonable price, definitely one of the better pub restaurants in Eastbourne

My first visit yesterday, everything was fantastic. Very warm welcome by the staff, lovely atmosphere and food was classic grub, cooken really well. Not typical greasy pub food, I normally only eat about 3 chips but ate the lot on my plate. Crispy outside, light fluffy inside, a real proper chip. Staff we great at accommodating allergy needs. Double checking ingredients for us. All done with a smile, not the normal rolling of eyes. It will become our regular haunt 😊

Booked a table for four at the Marine and were welcomed by the staff as soon as we walked through the door. The food was outstanding and the portions were large. Enjoyed our visit so much that we return twice more during our 7 night...

Amazing homemade pub grub, great value and lovely staff, we went twice during our stay and had good meals each time. Plus their Guinness is on point

This was a gem of a find for us as we were having a night away, we only had to walk less than 5 mins, the pub is lovely and the food was plentiful, the fish tasted so fresh and cooked to perfection, the side salad was the best I ever had infact my hubby was jealous he didn't order one himself, the staff were very kind and courteous, I saw other people's meals and they were huge too, our 2 dinners and 2 Shandy's come to £27, we will be back on our next visit.

Nice mix of friendly locals and tourists. Food was very good quality and seemed to be home cooked, not microwaved mass catering. Extremely reasonably priced (£12.95 for steak pie, chips and veg). Dog friendly too.

This is our second visit to The Marine On both occasions our meals were very nice This time we took our young niece and nephew, there wasn't anything on the child menu that they wanted, the waitress mentioned they allow kids to order off the adult menu and then split the meal in 2. We all had the steak and ale pie and everyone loved it. Absolutely lovely pub which serves great food and probably is the best pub food around

Well, what a gem of a pub just off the sea front. We were recommended the Marine by our guest house and we were not disappointed. Very reasonable prices, well cooked food and huge portions. Add to this pleasant, attentive staff and a homely setting and you have it all. We actually returned another night as we decided nothing would beat this pub. Well done and thoroughly recommended

Nice cosy pub at the east end of Eastbourne. Several seating areas on two levels. The seats are soft and comfortable. Decent ale choice.

I've been here for food several times and always head there when I'm in eastbourne food is fantastic and very filling 😋
