The Maltsters in Cardiff

Had an enjoyable staff at The Maltsters Arms Hotel while visiting our grandaughter at Cardiff Uni. Esme, Chris and Ben were particularly helpful and friendly making our stay a pleasant one. Would recommend.

Great pub with accommodation on site. Staff are very friendly and provide great service along with a bit of friendly banter. Wether a quiet beer on the patio or enjoying dinner while participating in the weekly quiz with Chris filled with laughter and excitement. Our waiter for the evening was Dylan who had taken time out from the black parade was plenty of fun to interact with with his dry humour laced with sarcasm and despite his expressionless demeanour I'm sure he was holding back the tears on our departure. Rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast the next day was tasty and great value. Will definitely go back if I am in the area.

We received a voucher in the post (30% off ) so decided to try The Malsters. We were a largish group (booked for 12, but we were 15) and they easily accommodated us sitting to the side of the bar area due to mobility issues. Food was served hot, tasty with a good size portion. Steaks cooked perfectly except they were delivered to the wrong 2 people so they had to swap after starting the meal (lucky it was a family meal). A lovely atmosphere and I would visit again!

Had a wonderful lunch again served by the lovely Sarah. Looking forward to my 80th group birthday lunch in November!

We did not stay at the hotel but ate at the restaurant. Even though it was busy we were made to feel very welcome and were well looked after by Ben who showed us to our table then by Dylan who was our waiter for the evening. Dylan was very attentive checking on us regularly to ensure we had everything we wanted and that we were happy with our food. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection, the chicken and avocado salad, delicious and plentiful with the signature burger thoroughly enjoyed. We were given time after eating before being presented with the desert menu. We all chose something different and again the food was of an excellent quality. Lovely relaxed evening before attending a concert at Llandaff cathedral.

DYLAN was a lovely member of staff & had a lovely can do attitude and was extremely helpful !!!! will most definitely be coming back soon !!!!!

Great meal. The food is freshly cooked and very tasty. Friendly staff, especially Dylan. He was polite , friendly and didn't rush us , even though it was very busy. We contacted the pub to say we had been delayed due to traffic and they still kept our table. Would definitely return.

Lovely atmosphere. Had cod goujons for main., Excellent, really enjoyed. Hubby had mushroom starter and calamari, another winner. Must mention Dylan who looked after us very well. Will be returning soon.

Haven’t been here in a good while but my god, I’m glad I came back! Food was absolutely amazing, had the chicken and chorizo kebab. Really well put together, succulent chicken and a great bed of pitta and a surprise of feta cheese! Beer was great and service even better. Every staff member had a smile on their face which, for me personally, really makes a visit to a pub. Ben was brilliant, as soon as I walked in he greeted me with a warm smile and I knew I’d have a great experience. Would absolutely recommend visiting this gem of a place.

Went with friends for a meal / drinks Friday 11th August .. all I can say is we all had a fabulous evening .. we had a shared starter which was delicious then our main meals which again we all thoroughly enjoyed .. the food is of a very high standard & reasonably priced .. a really lovely venue / great atmosphere excellent attentive staff …especially Ben who was extremely helpful & a really nice guy an asset to the Pub .. anyone looking for good food / great atmosphere & great service then The Malsters in Llandaff is the place

Outstanding from Ben ( I think) and team. Reception and service as well as food couldn’t be faulted. Drinks ordered and served promptly (party of around 30), and then even more impressively everyone’s food (in fairness starters and mains were preordered) was delivered together (multiple different dishes), and, as far as I could tell…hot! This could only happen when everyone is pulling together, so reflected very well on local management.

Wat een prachtige pub, wat een gastvrijheid, perfecte kamers, ontzettend schoon, fantastische keuken, Chris en Gregg, jullie zijn gastheren, bij wie een gast zich thuis voelt, wij hebben genoten van dit leuke hotel vlakbij Cardiff met zelfs gratis parkeren! Een groot compliment!!

We have always loved The Malsters Roast Lunch on Sundays. Great for all of the family! The food is amazing and our server Dylan was lovely. This is our favorite Sunday Roast spot .
