Brilliant pub. Great selection of beer at low prices. Best pint for miles around. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Not many of these places left now. Use it or lose it.

This pub is such a friendly and welcoming place. Popped in after a long day at work. Got off train and thought id have a quick pint before dinner. Ended up 5 pints later after long conversations with barmaid and customers. Nice to have a friendly local.

At last we can visit the pub with my family. Lord Denman has rode the storm and come through into calm waters. A visit on Friday was as enjoyable as always with cheap beer, friendly staff and a relaxing family atmosphere. Long May it continue.

I take my mum there on a Friday and Sunday lunch times for a couple of drinks, my mum is 91 and she likes it, but it is not bad as Dagenham is now limited to pubs. We meet at the Heathway station and walk down, I come from Hornchurch and my mum comes from Beacontree

Don’t believe the poor reviews on here left by customers who have been barred. This pub is trying to make a name for itself. It is slowly eradicating the troublemakers and riff raff that give this place a bad name. Hence the poor reviews. Prices are low and it’s a great place to have a family drink or a meal.

Fantastic pub, great buzzin atmosphere, kids are welcome and it has a great family feel. You can chat to almost all the regulars, find out about what’s going on around town and relax with a cheap, quality pint and some great speedy served food.

a lot of chatting going on which is good for the atmosphere, but too many drinkers in there, very embarrassing when i took my family there . Everything we ordered was either going to take a long time or they never had it , ws very embarrassed as the drunk people kept starring and talking to my grand daughter , felt well uncomfortable

I called in here for lunch on the way to a meeting. It was the first time I had been to Dagenham and there wasn't anywhere else to eat, the other places were full. I went in and travelled back in time to a place with broad cockney accents and raucous laughter. I was a little afraid as I was a stranger however everyone was friendly. The bar staff were helpful and had a robust relationship with the punters whose view on women seemed firmly entrenched in the 1970's. I ordered lasagne and chips and was talked into some onion rings. The food was hot, well presented and tasty. It was good value for money and the waitress asked how the food was.Although some of the punters were people I wouldn't want to bump into on a dark night the dining experience was more than satisfactory. On the whole the place is trying to do it's best with the situation it is in and the people it attracts. The only thing missing from this cockney resting place was Chas and Dave playing the Joanna in the corner!

The East End of London is going " up market" since the Olympics, but the Lord Denman has been on Dagenham Heathway for a long time.Although Stratford has got a really big , glitzy shopping centre now, a lot of local people still prefer to to shop in the local shopping mall, and drop in for a pint or for lunch at the Lord Denman - and its not hard to see why!Once you're inside, its like stepping into Dr Who's Tardis - it's much bigger than it looks on the outside, because while the front is a just average, the bar leads back onto a separate seating area and there's plenty of room inside, whether you want to have a cozy table for two or bring along a whole party. The menu has a great selection for everyone, really good value with wide selections and decent sized portions to suit everyone. Keep an eye open for specials - it's curry night on Wednesday , and special offers for fish on Friday, with lots more great deals to save you money. The place looked really plush, smart and well kept, with outdoor seating in the garden out the back - really nice in the summer time. service was prompt and friendly. The beers on offer include bottled craft beers, too. So if you fancy something a bit different from your usual, this is a good place to go. It's just across the road from the Tube station too, so it's a handy stopping place if you are heading home or moving on into town. The interior is done up to make it look like one of those old fashioned " Gentleman's clubs" like the have in the West End. It's got carpeted floors, polished wood and bookshelves lined with books around the walls - it's more like Downton Abbey on TV than Dagenham in in London's East End, and definitely worth stopping off for.

Used to stop off for a few pints before going over the daggers on a Saturday with Perry Driscott ....must say the clientel the management allow in to this establishment do themselves no favours ..Shame the Heathway has become what it is today, partly the reason this once good boozer has the problem it has today, the dregs that hang about outside messing it up for everyone else ...constant traffic in and out of the toilets by the same faces... One can only imagine the reasoning for this .....Food is rather good though ...

popped in with my daughter fir lunch as she had just moved into the area. The lady who served us was pleasant enough. Food ok though substandard compared to other Whetherspoons. The interior is in desperate need of a good clean and a make over. It is old, dated and tired looking. Popped in the following evening for a drink, full of local desirables who stand in the door way smoking. Not a comfortable pub for ransoms ....we won't be going back!

Have been in the Denman a few times over the years, once apon a time it was'nt to bad but went rapidly downhil and from what i gather has'nt changed, the food is not of a good standard as is the service, the place is mainly used by a hard core of regulars who seemingly are only there for the cheepest beer they can get as for the smoking policy people stand right in the main doorway so going in and out of the pub you can't help be absorbed in people smoke.I have used many Wetherspoon bars in the past and this is by far the worst..... and i come from Dagenham.

I tracked down this place through Wetherspoons pub finder as I was visiting the local football ground, Dagenham and Redbridge FC [15mins walk away] as an away supporter. I'm no great fan of visiting pubs local to the ground on match days as it often typically involves enduring a 10 deep scrum for limited supplies of overpriced lukewarm ales in plastic pots with the local constabulary breathing down your neck. I'd taken care not to wear colours just in case of any bother for doing so, but I needn't have worried as there were no football supporters in the pub of any allegiance so far as I could tell. Just a handful of the locals and a few shoppers and they seemed to mind their own business as did I. So all I wanted for on my visit here was a couple or three of steady beers and little else. I was served promptly by the ladies behind the bar with what seemed to be a well kept beer in a proper glass and retired to the bay window at the front of the pub.Its certainly cosmopolitan down there which you'd expect being a few miles away from the capital. The empties were collected smartly, the toilets seemed clean enough [down a few steps] and the beers a reasonable price too.The Denham ticked my boxes and I will be returning here next season to this somewhat undiscovered little gem - at least by football supporters both local and from afar- if the games and the season go favourable for both clubs concerned. And I won't be telling anyone either!

I'm writing this review to counterbalance a couple of really bad ones I read from 2013.This place has definately redeemed itself if it was really that bad a year ago.Food is served till 18.00 every day, or so I was informed. The menu is 'Wetherspoons', so we don't expect gourmet at those prices. My 2 courses of pasta Carbonara with bacon, big apple crumble with ice cream, 14 oz diet Pepsi, large Cappuccino, and a side salad was £10.92. All the food was well served and appetising. The service by the staff members was excellent. Wetherspoons don't encourage staff to gossip with customers, but they will exchange pleasantries as and when they can.The pub, garden, & toilets were perfectly clean. As for the customers - well, they are locals, and perfectly friendly. All in all, if anyone was put off by past reviews, I suggest, give it another try.

I haven't been to The Lord Denham for a while, even though it is my closest pub. I came here today because I'd been in to town and fancied a pint on my way home. It was reasonably steady, 2 people behind bar. I got served promptly, took my beer to a table which was fithly and had debris left over from the incumbent. Went to get a cloth and bar man was too busy chatting to serve. I asked for a cloth and was greated with surprise. Eventually got given a paper towel as no clean clothes available to wipe tables. Normally a decent and clean pub, this time I was disappointed.

This pub has the style of a cheap and cheerful local boozer, just opposite Dagenham Heathway station, and it has a few cosy snugs down a few steps at the back of the pub. It seems to be mainly used by local people and serves good beer, although I found the usual current Wetherspoons problem of slow service to be issue, as only one member of staff seemed to be on duty on a busy hot evening. However, what surprised me most was that no food was available. I thought all Wetherspoons without exception served food all day but, no, not this one - the kitchen closes at 4pm!!

AVOID THIS MISERABLE EXCUSE FOR A PUB. Went in for lunch which was basic pub fare (basically just microwaved food) and it took them an hour to prepare it. When it came out it was cold. The music is unbearably loud, the building is outdated and run down and the regulars are vulgar, disgusting and use a great deal of foul language despite the fact we had a young child with us. It has a very threatening and unpleasant atmosphere in general. This is not a family friendly place and customer service is non-existent. The only way it could be improved would be to burn it down. I would give 0 stars if possible. I can't stress enough how AWFUL this place is. Please avoid at all costs!

Have been to this pub to eat any times before the lockdown and to say this time I was shocked at how it had changed. Firstly its expensive 2 carvery meals gin and tonic and half a shandy came to £43.00. The dinner was served on a plate not much bigger than a tea plate the meat was tough and the servings small. When we ate here before we were told we could come back for more veg if we wanted not this time my husband ask for an extra roast potato as you only get 2 halves and was given a short sharp no. This is unlike any carvery we have been to from the Pipe Major, Brewers Fare or Tobby Inn you can always add extra veg its not a problem. We left there hungry would never go back you get a better bigger meal in a cafe for £6.00 and the staff are not so rude.
