The Longhouse in Pembrokeshire

The worst curry I have ever tasted. It was basically a tin of tomatoes, no spice at all, no curry taste. It was awful! This review was in May 2023, it may have changed now, I can't say. At the time it was an Indian curry with rice and Naan bread.

Brilliant place. We had been walking on the beach, and got rather wet! We received a very warm welcome at Jack's, the girl serving us gave our daughter a blanket, the food was lovely between us, very nice beer, and great service, would highly recommend it. Also dog friendly.

Lovely meal, generous portions, and really tasty. Will be back again soon.

Lovely food nice and cosy sit in area

We walked to Jacks on Pembroke coastal path over the weekend and arrived for 10am opening time, we did have to wait until around 10past for it to open (we wasn’t even sure if there was anyone actually in the building at first 😂) Glad we waited. The staff were really friendly and we had our dogs who were fussed the second they walked through the door - which they loved. As do we. The food was breakfast rolls only on a Sunday morning. This was a pretty average brioche seeded burger bun - but all in all fast service and friendly staff. Would return to try again ☺️

Not child friendly at all. My children let out a loud laugh and were immediately told off by her, sat in the empty bar sofa area. Seperated off from restaurant. She the proceeded to pass , glare and role her eyes at them. They were not missbehaving , or bothering anyone. Why work or own a establishment in a prime family based location if you can't stand kids.

Nice place, there is a big car park and dogs are allowed. Equally if you don’t like dogs wandering around, it is not the right place for you. Food was average, very reasonable prices. Service was a little bit slow though, although not full at all.

Often pop in for a coffee after a stroll along the beach. Staff are always polite and friendly. Good choice of beers, and some lovely food on offer. Can be a little busy in holiday season, so booking for food is good idea.

Nice place to have dinner and play some games. We were there at quiz night. We did not play however, but thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere.

Disappointed with the Sunday lunch .the roast potatoes and parsnips were fried in a deep fat fryer and so hard I was unable to cut them and there was nothing inside them practically inedible. .The gravy was the consistency of water and the whole meal was under or non seasoned . Wont be going there again

The service was excellent and very considerate...we went as a party of 6 one being a wheelchair user (their was a few steps but we worked around them). The portions of food were large and piping hot. They all arrived quickly.

This is a really great place, a surprising find considering its location in the middle of nowhere. Great service, a good range of food drinks, and two minutes from the beach. Super!

Great little venue by the coast, Often stop when out on the bike in that area, always welcoming and clean and tidy, will be glad to bring the family for food in the future

Jack's is in a beautiful location, right by the sea. The staff are friendly but the menu is very limited, good if you like burgers. I had the chicken and bacon salad and there was very little of either in it. My husband did have a burger which he said was okay, he'd had better. The place didn't have much atmosphere. Shame it could be so much more.

A lovely place to chill after a walk on freshwater east . Nice coffee or a bite to eat always get a friendly welcome and dogs are welcome too !

Good pub food, adjacent to great bay.

We were staying literally opposite Jacks so had to try it and really enjoyed it! The food was freshly cooked, really tasty and big portions! Staff were really friendly and helpful and we felt really at home straightaway. Also, I just have to mention the biggest teacakes I've ever eaten in my life - delicious!

Visited for drink and to watch Rugby World Cup with family. Very relaxed atmosphere, good beer and large tv projection of match.

Excellent find right on the doorstep of Freshwater East beach, great atmosphere and excellent food and drink options. Extremely welcoming and well worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Despite showing a breakfast menu, we arrived, during opening hours, the sign still said closed yet they were open and the staff said they were only offered coffees no food. Not very friendly and no explanation. Found amazing alternative location in Tenby.

Visited Jack's twice over our holiday. Food has been very tasty and well presented. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly, and the wi-fi worked well too. Would defo recommend.

All in all it was a bit of a disaster! We walked down on Monday (google said it was open, but it wasn’t), returned tonight. Front door difficult to open (wooden+probably swollen from the wet Welsh rain), walked in, not greeted by the staff at all. Ordered a drink and asked for some menus, asked if we had booked (we hadn’t), asked what time we wanted to order (needed to be written in the diary as the kitchen ‘won’t be able to cope’, written in for 1730, wanted to sit outside (had a toddler), bit of attitude from the staff saying if we wanted to sit outside we needed to pay when we ordered (not an issue) but could have phrased it slightly better (I suspect they had had problems with folk leaving without paying if sat outside..). We sat outside in a terrace area so our kid could run around and not run into the carpark etc, looked at the menus, wanted to go back in and order - but we were locked on the terrace! Spent a good 5 minutes knocking on the glass to try and attract someone’s attention to open the door, another customer oozed through a gap to go round the front to let us in…. Mentioned to restaurant staff we were locked out to be told told ‘it’s a fire door’ and it needs to be shut… Not sure how you can have a terrace off of a fire door?? Given we were locked out, we decided to sit inside. Asked for a highchair ‘up to 36 months’ but did not fit our 20 month old… kid got pretty distressed so I took him back outside, meanwhile the restaurant staff came back to say what I wanted to order ‘slow cooked beef chilli’ wouldn’t be ready for another hour. Food arrived, toddler wouldn’t entertain his meal (doesn’t mean it was inedible!) my burger was dry and came in 6 broken bits, and my chips were under cooked. Also ordered some cheesy garlic bread which was tasteless and not eaten… Made a speedy exit (after paying!) as my toddler was playing up, only to go to the toilet and both ladies loos had no loo roll. Mentioned it to the staff, no apology… From the outside the building looks like it has a nice après beach vibe… Such a shame as it has huge potential - but it was all round disappointing!

In early September 2023, we decided to dine here on our last night at Trewent Park. The experience did not disappoint. The portions were generous and flavoursome. We'd especially recommend the burgers to anyone looking for a hearty and delicious meal. The staff were welcoming and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.

Livelycplace again dog friendly. Bbq when we went and they do pizza later on in the night too.

Oh dear! Arrived yesterday after a pleasant walk along the beach. No food being served until after 5pm because of a wedding? Ok! Nothing? Long coastal walk today, sunday. Checked web site. Food served all day. Bought much needed refreshments on arrival, asked for a menu, only to be told "fully booked not taking any more bookings". Despite the fact the restaurant area inside was nearly empty with no reservations shown on any table. Spoke to another young female who was fanning herself with a menu! Asked if an order of chips could be made. "No, only do a carvery on a sunday"! Oh well then there you go! Lovely position lets hope it remains open!!!!

Had a Nephews wedding today 26th August to Nicola Queenan was great food Staff very attentive didn't stay till pig , Roast, and fireworks but sure they were spectacular will be recommending your venue lady dressed in black with belt around the middle didn't get her name was a bit abrupt, train her to be more polite it means a lot to be spoken politely , when asked for a request, but otherwise a great day was had by all Thank You JACKS TEAM

Pub seems nice, and not overly pricey, but the attitude from the staff really let the side down. All young ‘uns on their phones ignoring the bar, then when I did get served the attitude from the bar lady wasn’t dissimilar to a stroppy teenager being asked to tidy their room. Understand bar work can be hard, but as the face of the business, you need to grow up and not behave petulantly for being asked for drinks from a bar.

We visited yesterday after walking from Manobier, what amazing staff, all so helpful and welcoming, with a special mention and thank you to Julie and Nigel!! The menu offers a lot of choice and everything we ate was delicious and beautifully cooked. We were advised on arrival to book a table and I can see why, it became busy very quickly!

Looks great but fails to deliver.

We want to say a huge thank you for being so welcoming, hospitable & you really went out your way to make the evening so lovely for my daughter's birthday. I had pre-booked for a Monday evening, whilst we were staying in a nearby chalet. All food arrived at the same time for our small party and everyone enjoyed their meal, food ranged from burgers, fish and chips, to salads and a curry. Good quality and value. It's a welcoming place for families and dogs.. also on a separate night we enjoyed coming down to visit the games room and listen to the live music. Thank you again for being so attentive. Ate here twice and felt it was poor on both occasions. I think our party of 20 was too much for them and they should have told us that beforehand. Food, overall, took around 25 minutes to reach the table from first plate to last. Within that time, some had finished as others were just starting. Same with desserts. On Sunday, pizzas only, from first to last plate was around 40 minutes. We felt we didn’t eat together at all. Despite sending through our order 2 weeks in advance, as requested, they still got it wrong several times on the day and even asked for our order that morning - we reminded them they already had it. £4.50 for a pint of San Miguel (fair) but £20 for bottle of red wine (restaurant prices). The live music was nice and the small children enjoyed the games room. I think if you’re a family of four, it’s an ideal place. Large parties they really struggle with.

Amazing location and brilliant staff with relaxed atmosphere. Food is good having the beach right outside is a bonus.

You must book before you go. They were only serving pizza on the night we went but it was very nice and big.

We were greeted by a team of friendly staff then taken to our reserved table and provided with menus. A different lady, Meryl, greeted us and explained there may be a short wait for our food order to be taken and all food and is home cooked. In fact our food and drinks arrived pretty quickly and with outstanding service. The food was very good. Couldn't recommend more, thank you and in particular to Meryl who went above and beyond to accommodate our family.

We visited here on a extremely busy Saturday evening in July, we of course had pre booked our table. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff, a huge array of drinks to choose from. When showed to our table we got the menu...

Within minutes of arriving (we were still being seated and getting comfortable) we were asked if we'd like to order drinks; we asked for a few more minutes to look at the menu and decide. The response from our waitress was "But you'll have to order soon as we have another large booking after you and we need the table"!! Well that was a pleasant greeting! Having felt rushed, we quickly ordered our meals. One member ordered a starter and main. The main arrived, and shortly after, the starter arrived; we were then informed by another waitress that you don't offer 'starters' and the food all arrives together... Well why do you have a 'Starter' menu, and why was this not mentioned when ordering?! The staff were quite blunt, the service was really poor, and the food was average. We won't be visiting again, we'd rather spend £100+ elsewhere.

Lovely pub right next to a quiet beach, food was great with large portions. Very clean inside with a variety of seating areas. A small games room at the back with a variety of slot machines and 2p machines, bikes and air hockey. On the day we visited we were so full from the meal, we decided to take a short walk along the beach to work it off and go back for pudding, unfortunately on our return (approx 9pm) we were polietly told the kitchen closed earlier at 8.30pm. We didn't mind, but disappointed we missed out sampling their delicious looking pudding menu. We weren't in the area long, but if we return, we'll visit again :)

Very rarely negative... But paid £7.50 for cream tea (mug, not pot). WiFi on and off the whole time. You'll get asked to leave after a certain length of time.

Good quality food which was cooked well and with decent portion sizes. The service was warm, welcoming and family friendly. Good selection of beers/ciders on tap. Definitely will be back to support this local business.

Asked on tripadvisor 2 weeks before going on holiday, staying next door to jacks if you had to book. No one answered me. So turned up on the Saturday evening and yes you do have to book and also that evening they were closed due...

I was surprised how good the fish finger sandwich was. Instead of the crumb covered things I thought it might be, it was proper thin pieces of battered white fish in a rather good bread roll. Friendly staff, and clean toilets, too. Will visit again!

Jack's has a Monopoly at Freshwater East but surprisingly in this day and age, they do not abuse that. Jack's serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning and afternoon teas and just drinks to the residents in the Caravan site, the holiday village and those using the beach or coastal walks. We found the food and drink reasonably priced, the food good value and the staff friendly and attentive. Our dog liked Jack's too. Over a four night stay at the caravan park, we used Jack's on four occasions. Excellent.

Great service . My husband has food intolerances and they went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. Great to be able to bring the dog in.

Recently changed ownership and was renovated. Now it's extremely clean (some might say posh) but the great service, quality and atmosphere remains. The place is dog friendly, and the staff even welcomed our pup with a treat and lots of attention.

The sharing ploughman’s was disappointing for the price my son could have eaten it for himself and cost £24.

We had been meaning to try the Longhouse and we were so glad we did! Everyone in our party of eight (including 3 very picky eaters!) devoured their dinner. The fish and chips were fresh and delicious, and the beef taco special was a huge...

With plenty of car parking, this is an easy place to get to. The venue is child and dog friendly. The menu is 'good pub grub' with dishes cooked to order. Service is attentive. Washrooms are to a high standard. Definitely recommended.

Dogs accepted inside whether you are just having a drink or food, drinks ok, food yet to decide under current ownership as only eaten once and wasn't great, so hopefully a one off, had the fish and chips with mushy peas and added curry sauce for £2 extra. Fish was overcooked, dry and welded to the batter, there was way too much batter and very little fish, although the batter was nice, the mushy peas were dry and the chip shop curry sauce was very runny and not very much of it, certainly not worth the extra £2, chips were fine, service was good as they were very busy and managed to fit us in, will try another meal there at some point as I believe you cannot judge on one meal.

We have a chalet on site and have eaten at Jacks several times and it has never disappointed it gets better and better each time. Food is very good. A very good pint. Hun of the week is a bargain. Staff are lovely and helpful....

Very nice but pricey!!! We had a ploughman's sharing platter. Was very nice but not worth £25!!! 6 quite small pieces of cheese, 3 of which were the same!!! On the plus side it is dog friendly

Great location, only a very short walk to the beach. Free parking for the restraunt. Staff were friendly, said they'd had a manic day, hard to find a clean table. Immediately cleared up for us though. Food was good, if slightly bland, both of us only ordered basic burger meals, nothing fancy. We certainly didn't leave hungry😊

A short walk from the freshwater east caravan and motorhome site. Friendly team, I had the Chinese curry of the day, which was nice and my wife had the chicken ceaser salad which was huge,The garlic bread wasn't very garlic, the cheese chips were good....

Great place to go. We enjoyed their Gin of the week all week. The girls in there behind the bar were amazing, the chips a little over cooked but edible, maybe a one-off. I shall definitely be going back

A lovely place to stop by at fresh water East. Relatively new owners who offer such a warm welcome. Dogs are welcome too.

Great food and loads of selections of gin. Very good with kids and dog friendly. Park for free instead of paying over the road. There's an arcade room with 2p machines and other fun stuff for kids.
