The Lodge in Breckland

The staff are so friendly and helpful - really a credit to the place. We were greeted so warmly, even though we hadn't booked ahead, just popped in on the off-chance. They found room for us and I'm so glad they did. Best fish and chips I have eaten in a long, long time. The fish, fresh, succulent encased in a lovely beer batter. The chips! Golden, crunchy, fluffy inside - everything you want a good chip to be. And a lot of them. Perfect mushy peas in a pot AND homemade tartare sauce - small chunks of hand-chopped gherkin in a mayo style sauce. YUM. Portions are generous so there literally was no space for pudding. My sister had the Southern Fried chicken which unfortunately she didn't really enjoy; while she loved the flavour she found the spicy batter soft and squidgy - this might be an expectation thing on her part though as she thought she was ordering it 'KFC crunchy style'. But she enjoyed the flavour and devoured the great chips. It was such a refreshing change to eat really well cooked pub grub, in a lovely pub, filled with such charm and with a friendly atmosphere. The two ladies running front of house service are an absolute credit to The Lodge. We shall be back!

So, we've attended The Lodge (and The Fox ) on numerous occasions. The food and drink are gorgeous. Also very polite staff. However we definitely think (as did the people dining near us) that the 'Smoking Area' should be moved towards the end of the garden. As the rear door (understandably) remains permanently open due to Covid restrictions, throughout our entire meal we (and the other diners) were bombarded with a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, and more importantly passive smoke. It was quite awful to be honest. We hope that this review is regarded more as a positive suggestion rather than a criticism. We much, like many others prefer to dine in the bar area as apposed to the restaurant as we love the friendly, chilled atmosphere.

Came here whilst on holiday on the recommendation of our holiday cottage owner and it did not disappoint. Wish I hadn’t saved it till the last night of my holiday otherwise we would have come more than once! Staff very friendly, the food was lovely (best biscoff cheesecake ever). Reasonably priced, nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic evening we had at this wonderfully run restaurant. There was so many fabulous choices on the menu. I eventually opted for the Lamb Shank and it was superb. The staff were ever so accommodating and engaging. It was great way to end our week in Norfolk.

Fantastic food, lovely friendly staff and a warm atmosphere made our family meal a great experience. Good choice of foods with Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten free options. Portions are a little on the large side.

The food was pretty good although I didnt want to eat.much as Absolutely disgusted with how 3 grown men made me feel.... talking about me as I approach the door of the pub with the waitress and continued to take the p as I waited in the queue.... obviously they don't care about people's mental health! Disgusting behaviour from grown men! Put me off going there ever again!

The Lodge Griddle and GrillWe have never visited The Lodge before as we live just over 2hrs away, but were visiting our Daughter-in-Law and planned to take her for a nice meal. I booked a table 2 weeks beforehand for the Saturday early evening explaining how far we were coming, but my Daughter-in-Law’s plans had altered, so I had to call the Lodge to change the booking for the following Sunday lunchtime. Unfortunately they said that my Saturday booking wasn’t even in the book, so I dread to think what would have happened if we had actually turned up for it. They managed to get us in for the Sunday after asking for my name about 20 times during the call, I also triple checked at the end of the call that they had actually written it in the book this time We arrived on the Sunday afternoon, parked in the ample car park and donned our masks. I got very excited when I saw a sign showing that they sold Frenchic Paint in the on sight shop, which I use a lot at home, so Hubby said we would go in after our meal - If you know, you know lol The Lodge has a small beer garden, where someone was waiting for a ‘prepared meal to takeaway’ which is a cool idea, and we waited to be seen at the door, which turned out to be a little stressful for a short while because they couldn’t find the booking again and upon glancing down at the book myself, I found that they had only used my first name, but at least it was there.We had our temperatures taken and were then led in to our table by a masked waitress. We were pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous farmhouse style interior - beautiful wood, fresh clean lines, it looked newly decorated and was set up beautifully. The tables are a decent size, so there was plenty of space and the chairs have got to be THE BEST restaurant chairs we’ve EVER sat in. I have spinal issues and I usually leave an establishment in such pain, but not with these comfy chairs.Our three meals were very hot and fresh. We ordered the vegetable lasagne with salad, a gourmet beef burger with fries (it came with a VERY good portion of fries), and chilli with rice which came with a tiny bowl of nacho crisps. They were all very nice.We enjoyed the meal, enjoyed the setting and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We didn’t have any room left for a desert, so we paid the bill and left to go to the shop for the Frenchic paint, but unfortunately the shop wasn’t open……next time maybe!

We had a lovely meal here yesterday. Fish and chips & vegetable pie. Can’t fault it! Ordering was either via app or personally at the table. Service was friendly and quick. Covid measures in place and adhered to. What’s not to like? 😀

We booked an evening meal here with our 2 young daughters during our break to Norfolk. It was a warm evening on arrival so we chose to eat outside in their spacious garden. The service was really excellent from all the girls serving as we could see they were busy due to recent re-opening. Food all tasty & better than expected & again thanks for the friendly service.

Sunday Roast today at The Lodge was brilliant. The meal was hot, fresh and tasted lovely. Everything cooked to perfection. Despite being a warm day we sat inside, reserved a table a couple of weeks ago. Table to reserve on line was easy. When we got there was good so see a reasonably local pub/restaurant have not only a Food Hygiene Rating sticker of 5, but also the COVID 100% sticker of our local council. Was easy to see why have have both. Not only was the food definitely a trip to go back for, but the COVID care taken was 2nd to none They comply with every single Govt requirement for a hospitality venue. Well done to all of you.Not only was the food amazing, but i said to my husband it is also the staff that make a restaurant/pub good. We could not fault our service, all done with care and so good to hear staff actually enjoying what they were doing. There were genuine smiles from all and friendly banter. Gold Star award to The Lodge Griddle and Grill from us.

We came on route to see the tulips fields and we were glad we did,Rachel were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble,the food very fresh and tasty covid safe wish we lived closer.

We have eaten here several times for various occasions and for lunch and dinner. The service has always been fantastic (they are very accommodating) and the food has always been tasty and good quality. GF and vegan options. COVID safe - extra thanks to Rach and Tash for such attentive service.

The meal was ready on time, was hot and very tasty. Thank you we will be back,, preferably when you are open, again but if not another top grade takeaway.

We had a lovely table for four of us, the venue is smart and cosy, the staff were excellent and really friendly. The menu was really good and the food was a 9/10 very impressive.

From the moment we arrived we were completely looked after in these present times with plenty of space between tables and masks worn by all staff, even our dog was catered for regarding something to eat(peppers).Food was excellent and plenty of it and good value for money.My lad had the blue cheese burger and my life it was massive, so much so that he couldn’t finish it.. there was loads.Overall are experience at the grill was great and highly recommended a visit.

Really enjoyed our meal at the Lodge last night. Lovely atmosphere - restaurant was almost full but still very Covid compliant. Plenty of space between tables. More limited menu than before but still wide-ranging - largely “pub grub” but no complaints there! Range of beers and wines (including by the glass). Ribeye steak was excellent. Well priced. First class friendly and efficient service. Will definitely be back again.

We went for a drink and booked for Sunday dinner. It was very tasty, plenty of food, a friendly atmosphere. There is a shop attached so we were able to get a few bits we needed as we left.

We went for an early evening meal and on arrival were immediately welcomed, and after the obligatory temperature test shown to our table. we were served quickly and efficiently by friendly and helpful staff. The food was hot, appetising to look at and deliciuos to eat. It was a thoroughly enjoable experience which will certainly, repeat, and recommend to others.

5 of us ate at the Lodge this afternoon as a family of 4 adults and 1 child . We felt really safe from the minute we entered to when we left and the staff were fantastic . The food was hot and plentiful and very tasty .

We had a fantastic takeaway tonight. Really high quality and lots of it. Great value and all of us full to the brim. Kids meals are huge as well.

Very chilled dog friendly place and felt very safe with measures in place for covid. Friendly and welcoming staff, very attentive throughout the evening and even providing us take away desert! Food was satisfactory pub food.

My family and I called today for a reservation very last minute, the staff accommodated us, a very warm welcome, observing the Covid rules. The staff are very polite, food delish and portion size was great, not too expensive, Definitely a winner and we will visit again, family from Essex. Xx

Brilliant evening. Lovely food and great service. Felt very safe as very conscious of virus safety concerns so tables well spaced out, screen between our table and next and staff wearing visors. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Food very good, desserts very bad for you but oh so good. All in all top evening out and will definitely be back.

Today me and my partner came to enjoy a excellent meal out at the recommendation of a friend and that's what we got! Food was absolutely amazing, service from staff was top notch and the waiting times were very short. I am glad we chose to come to The Lodge and I can safely say we will be coming again!

An early Sunday lunch, everything in order and correct for 'these days'. It's very difficult, isn't it, to create an authentic restaurant atmosphere with spaced out tables, somewhat nervous patrons and visored staff, but they do very well in the circumstances. The service was friendly and the staff alert without being intrusive; the roasts were well prepared and presented with plenty of fresh vegetables. Very good value too! Restaurant staff are under terrible pressure at the moment - someone said it was like having 5 Saturdays a week. Give them a break !

Visited last night . Yes they are coviD aware but it didn't make for a great overall experience. Quality of food disappointing with frozen chips etc. No atmosphere and garden area needs some work a little tlc with parasols and bases etc.

One member of staff mouthing off across the garden area because we were standing near our table shouting sit down not enough manners to come across and ask us I thought it was very unprofesstional as there was no one else in that area just our family members. Food was ok but we wont be repeating the experience which left a lot to be desired.No table service for drinks and had to go and order food and pay for drinks.

Came here today with my wife and the elderly man she looks after.We were greeted very nicely as always and had our temperature taken.They are certainly covid aware here!The staff were very friendly as always and were very helpful with food and drinks orders.I love coming here, the menu is excellent and very reasonable and the food is always superb.Faultless all round as always, thankyou

Visited with family and had a great meal, staff were lovely and couldn't be more helpful . Even though it was busy not to busy to stop and have a chat about the area . Great food and really enjoyed our visit

We were staying locally and felt like we would like to have a nice meal but to take away. The staff were very friendly and helpfulon the phone. We got to choose the time to collect our food and it was ready when we arrived and delivered by a welcoming member of staff. Clear safety procedures were in place and staff were relaxed and calm. Having not visited before, I can’t comment on the atmosphere inside, but certainly the new guidelines were clear from the outside- great and reassuring.We ordered burgers but sadly they were surprisingly tough and chewy. The cob was nice and fresh, but the chips were average. Whilst the price wasn’t overly expensive, it was disappointing. I appreciate these are tough times and managing this, along with the pressure of the people who were dining in, must be hard. However, wouldn’t take-away again. A well-known fast food outlet sadly beat this meal on this occasion. The stars are for the clear effort of the team, great staff and ease of service along with location and for that alone this place needs praise and thanks. Perhaps these are ‘teething problems’ as the other photos on here look amazing.

Booked a table at The Lodge as menu and reviews looked good. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and all the precautions they have in place were reassuring. Food was delicious and portions are very generous. Was lovely to be able to eat out again and would book here again without hesitation

I really like 'The Lodge'. The atmosphere is great, it has a nice summer garden and the staff have always been charming and funny. They are also abiding by government guidelines superbly. It saddens me to have to report that the burger I ordered which supposedly came with an additional cheese contained ever such a small amount of cheese. It was really quite boring. The beef was particularly condensed and tough for a burger. My fellow diner had the lasagne and although better than my burger was also a tad indifferent. A side salad was ordered which consisted of some bitter leaves and a few tiny cubes of tomatoes. Summarily... I've always liked The Lodge. The staff are lovely and I will go back. However... I can't help feeling that there's a lack of heart in the kitchen/food. A no thrills dining experience which on this particular occasion will be quickly forgotten. I seem to remember that the pizzas here were pretty good but they aren't on the menu at this time. Additional point to note, there were absolutely no low carb options whatsoever on what is quite a large menu. i.e no main salads, no steaks, no wings etcFinally... drinks are a little on the pricey side for rural Norfolk but they are done right.

Attended for drink and a light dinner. Perfect welcome. Temperature taken on arrival and seated in garden. Dog welcome. One person goes to bar to order drinks and food. Very easy, no stress. Food came out 5 mins later. Chilli nachos to share were lovely. Anyone worried about safety etc there is no need. Stress free dining experience

Our 1st visit out after lockdown and have to commend the restraunt for their set up under social distancing and service which were 1st class and made us feel comfortable and worry free. The meal itself was very nice and service was excellent even under the new regulations.Wouldn't hesitate to come again and highly recommended.

We were camping nearby and hadn’t really settled upon much of a plan for our Friday evening meal - possibly a bit foolish given that many pubs and restaurants and still working out how to open safely in these strange times. We felt extremely lucky to happen by chance on The Lodge Griddle & Grill. We turned up without a booking but luckily a table was available. Large sized menus were written on the walls and staff had neat visors for protection We ordered a double cheese burger and halloumi and fries. I had an extra portion of mushy peas for good measure. Both dishes really nice and well presented by cheery and friendly staff. Well done to all involved for getting things back up and running whilst abiding by the rules. A lovely place to eat and drink.

Following the easing of lock down rules it was great to enjoy our first dining out experience for some time. Yes, it felt a little strange and slightly uncomfortable at first but there was no need to worry. The Lodge have excelled in their preparation enabling them to re-open their restaurant to the public. Clear instructions on the new rules and procedures to reassure customers and keep them safe. A reduced menu choice ( fully understandable ) but still with plenty on offer. We both enjoyed our steak and gourmet burger meals and look forward to our next visit.

Lovely welcoming and friendly. Dogs welcome in bar or garden area. food is delicious. Can highly recommend the sweet and sour sizzling dish and the fish and chips with home made tartare sauce was perfect.

Met here with two friends for an evening meal. Taken to table after a drink at the bar and seated quickly. I am gluten free, not impressed by markings on the menu was my first thought but waitress knew what she was doing. Starters arrived, one different to description. When questioned we were told 'well we changed it' but they hadn't changed the menu description. When challenged they offered money off the bill to compensate. Mains all arrived as described as did puding. All ok, nothing to write home about. Bill arrived before asked (I think they wanted to get home!) and the discount not applied, so good job we checked. Have visited here before and been better catered for, but would be reluctant to go again.

Stopped by The Lodge on our way back to our holiday cottage. Pleasantly surprised at the interior and the welcoming atmosphere. We were only going to have a drink but ended up having some food.I chose the rump steak which was cooked perfectly, my partner had the fish and chips which he said was equally delicious. Would definitely return while staying here in Norfolk.

Met friends there at their invitation, but food still average, will not visit again. Staff cheerful & friendly, strange entrance through shop selling oddments clothes , jewellery and milk in fridge.

Lovely friendly place to be, locals enjoy a chat. Dog friendly bar, beautiful restaurant and very reasonably priced. Am returning to Norfolk in March and will definitely be dining at The Lodge again.

My wife and I plumped for a meal here for Sunday lunch as we wanted somewhere different to our usual haunts. My wife is a vegetarian and ordered the nut roast which was advertised as such and I ordered the pork. My wife was about to take a bite of her meal when she noticed the item in question looked a bit 'meaty' so I tasted the offending object and thought it tasted like sausage stuffing. I asked the waitress to take a look and she confirmed that it was... my wife was devastated but was glad that was the first thing she looked at before tucking in to anything else. The meal was replaced but my wife found the whole experience quite traumatic she was also upset during the meal. I ended up eating my meal before her as it was getting cold so ruined the experience. The waitress explained that there was a trainee chef that accidentally put the sausage stuffing on the plate. The pass should have spotted this however we were informed the food would have been undercover and wouldn't be seen!! To be fair the front of shop staff were bang on and we have no issues with that side of things, also the meal was refunded by the waitress however we won't be returning. In this age of veganism, vegetarianism and all other dietary requirements, it's unforgivable.

Daughter and I thought we would try the burger meals, we both decided to have the same one and I must say they were not a disappointment.This was our 2nd visit and will be going back for more, Sophie was great with her service and chat..

My partner and myself went here tonight as our first visit and was very impressed with the food and the service given. Couldn't fault anything what so ever. Would highly recommend to anyone and will defiantly be going back :-)

Very good food in this larger than expected pub near dereham. Service was very good, and the selection between us was very good especially the vegan options.

We ate at The Lodge on a Tuesday night before Christmas for our work Christmas Do. My friend and I were the first to arrive and the waitresses were lovely and chatty. I ordered one of the gins off of the gin menu which was delicious and I am now on a quest to track this gin down! The staff were all lovely and even when I called on the same day to cancel two of my three courses (I had massively overeaten in the days leading up to this meal!) they were so friendly and helpful and agreed to remove the dishes from my order at no charge.The food was lovely (I had a turkey dinner) and my colleagues all had amazing looking starters and desserts too whilst I nursed my gin! The bar and restaurant were all busy but the timings were perfect and there was no waiting around, nor did it feel like we were being rushed away!Overall, would recommend for a big event, or an evening out as a couple! Great place.

We had our wedding reception at The Lodge last week and we had high expectations having heard good things. It is safe to say that Vicky and her team surpassed these by a mile, the whole process was slick from the outset, there was nothing they hadn’t thought about in the planning phase!

Went on a Sunday Lunchtime for a friends birthday, couldn’t complain about the service or food at all! We had reserved a spot by the bar which was quite quiet. We were asked if we were ready to order fairly sharpish due to another table of 14 that were due to be seated, glad they had made us aware before we got caught up in that order! The food came out quickly and it was lovely, I had the hot dog with pulled pork and for dessert it was the Willy Wonka waffle which was lovely! ❤️

A last minute decision to pop in here for Sunday lunch as we had miscalculated the time and realized time was getting on. Despite a large party of people in the restaurant and bearing in mind we hadn't booked the staff were very accommodating and fitted the two of us in. They recommended we decided on our choice of food as quickly as possible else we would have a long wait behind the large party already there which was very helpful. Easy quick decision, fish and chips and a curry for my accomplice. Noisy kids, but can't complain, they were there first and being a father of four I understand they can't all be left home alone. I must refrain from ordering anything with chips in future, for some reason they just can't seem to cook a decent chip. They were again greasy as per a previous visit about a month ago but the fish was excellent 7/10. The curry, which included a separate portion of rice, salad, poppadoms and mango chutney was excellent, probably a larger portion of rice at the expense of a side salad ( unnecessary ) would have been better 9/10. Very pleasant surroundings, attentive and courteous staff. Reasonably priced, happy to visit again but unfortunately I do like my chips which should be golden and crispy on the outside with a soft floury center.

We held our wedding reception here and it was amazing . Vikki and the staff carefully helped us go through exactly what we wanted and nothing was too much trouble . When it came to the day they were so organised we just had to turn up . It was beautifully decorated, the food, atmosphere and everything was perfect . Highly recommend!!

Our 2nd visit here. The ribs are the best ever and did not disappoint again. Veggie daughter had good selection to chose from. Restaurant clean and bright. Desserts to die for and wine reasonably priced.

You get a nice welcome from the Staff. The service is good and the menu is outstanding which makes it difficult what to choice. Once you have chosen your never disappointed. The food is served hot and very tasteful. I would recommend a visit.

what an amazing Sunday roast choice of 3 meats and a vegetarian one. plus other menu. could not fault it. we both had pork and it fell apart was so tender. beautiful roast potatoes not fatty and greasy or too hard, but spot on. Roasted veg, normal veg and cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pud and beautiful sausage meat stuffing balls all with gravy so fantastic. all this for £10 each. carveries might be cheaper but not the quality. saying that we were offered beef and pork as I found it difficult to choose. the smell outside was so inviting. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. food was hot and faultless much better than my roast. The Lodge was packed.

My family and friends find this restaurant to be very, very good. Great staff who somehow always find time for a chat, outstanding food in a lovely setting. We have become regular visitors when playing golf nearby at Barnham Broom. I'd describe the food as Gourmet Pub or above such is the care taken over preparation and presentation. The menu is extensive. The sticky toffee pudding to die for. Can't wait until we are able to visit once again! Thank you management and all staff.

We came here to celebrate my Mum and Dad's 55th Anniversary. From the moment we walked in the staff treated us like royalty. As we were the first of our party to arrive we sat in the bar area and watched how the staff treated the other customers, and from what we could see they treated everyone as if they were the only ones in the restaurant.

Popped in to The Lodge Griddle and Grill today with my Aunt today and had a lovely meal. I had the Chicken Curry which was second to none and my aunt had the Beef Lasagne which was bloody lovely! Good size serves with friendly service. Sometimes hard to find both in the same venue. Doing a great jobs guys keep up the good work.

We had an enjoyable steak at a reasonable price. The "special" ice cream milkshake at 5 pounds was a major disappointment. I truely doubt there was any ice cream in it. Half filled with warmish chocolate milk and the other half with cream, it would rank up there with one of the worst milkshakes I have had.

Excellent food and service great value for money had Sunday lunch here too that was superb too delicious roast beef and Yorkshire puddings were amazing

Visited on a Saturday evening. Great looking building and free parking. Outside area. Inside the decor is cool and contemporary. Polite staff. Well thought out menu. The best ribs ever. Burgers are massive and nice wine selection.

We booked a table with friends for lunch. The restaurant was very pleasant with lovely staff. I ordered the steak pie and mash with veg and my husband ordered the burger and fries. My husbands burger was cooked to perfection and he really enjoyed it. My steak pie was tasty but the crust was hard and inedible to eat. I think it was put in the microwave for too long. I did tell the waitress to pass on my comments. Apart from that we really enjoyed it and will be back.

I was disappointed on my second visit to The Lodge. I had previously had the fish and chips to takeaway before so I recommended them to my friend when we ate in.

Visited here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. We had a warm and friendly welcome and brilliant service from the start of the night through to the end.

We were there on a quiet evening so the parking was no issue and the service was good and the restaurant had a very friendly atmosphere.

We hadn't been here for over 13 years so on a trip back from Norwich decided to pop in for lunch. The new (for a while now) owners have refurbished it and added a shop. There's a bar area and separate restaurant.

All four of us ordered different meals and every one was excellent, very clean plates at the end. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble so thanks to them all for a fabulous last meal in the UK before heading home.

Good atmosphere in the bar with what were probably locals. However, I was not too impressed with a dog sat at the bar on one bar stool eating off another. Sorry and I do understand that regular customers are vital for business.

My family and I went for lunch today and we were not disappointed. Our waitress sat us in a convenient spot for my dad who cannot walk far. She let him try the ales so he could pick one he liked. She was very attentive to our needs.

I booked this restaurant for a fathers day treat for the family. I had read the reviews & they all seemed excellent. Upon arrival we were greeted by the most amazing friendly staff who couldn't of done more for you. They were fantastic & very accommodating. The meal was out of this world tasty. They really did cater for most tastes. the biggest thing i was impressed about was the price. The drinks were very reasonable & so was the food. you really can eat like a king & still be a pauper. Big thumbs up. I will definitely be visiting this place again

This place is amazing, I've been a few times. Really good quality food and the burgers are fantastic. Staff are super helpful definitely worth a look.

We visited this fantastic place whilst on holiday to Gressenhall and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The staff were friendly, helpful and all walked around with a smile on their face so you could tell they enjoyed what they did! Our orders were taken and our food didn’t take that long to arrive - and boy - when it did, they certainly don’t scrimp on the portions! All our meals were piping hot, delicious and left us all feeling like we couldn’t eat any more! We will certainly return if we are ever in the area - hats off to you all!

Our favourite place to go on a Sunday, highly recommended A* All food is cooked fresh, and the homemade cheese cake is out of this world!

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for the last 5 years. We would go every 6-8 weeks (only been twice in last 6 months due to having a baby, but plan to go more often again when littlen eats more) and have absolutly loved it for many reasons! The staff are lovely and friendly and will cater to all your needs as best they can. They have always gone above and beyond whenever we go and as my husband says they make the best lasagne around!

My sister had booked the Lodge Griddle & Grill for my niece's 1st birthday. As our family live all over the UK (and Spain) she decided to have a meal here to get everyone together. Unfortunately we were split onto 2 tables (there was 16 of us which is a big number), I do think we could have all been on one table. The menu was good and had plenty of choice. Once we had all ordered the wait time for food was well within reason for a large party. A lot of people were not blown away by the food, I was slightly disapointed that my burger was quite dry, the salad and sauce made it slightly better. My fiance had the chicken burger, she was not happy with that and left most of it. It was deep fried and you expect it to be slightly greasy but it was deep fried in batter, it even looked like a fish from the chippy! The general concensous was that the food was OK but not everyone was completely happy. The place and staff themselves were really good, can not complain about the service.

Hubby and I were in the area and looking for a late pub lunch (3pm) where our two dogs would also be welcome The Lodge didn’t disappoint! I don’t normally write reviews but really wanted to this time as we had the best lunch so far during our week long holiday in Norfolk. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, pleasant decor and warm log burner. We both ordered the steak and ale pie with buttery mash - definitely home made and packed with tender chunks of steak, creamy mash and tasty veg (particularly liked the small jug of gravy on the side, to avoid a soggy bottom!). We were served by Sophie who was friendly and welcoming but also very professional - and the dogs appreciated the biscuits she offered them. Wished we lived nearer so we could come again!

Unplanned lunch with my friend. Cannot fault this place. All the staff were very welcoming . The food was excellent . We had a lasagne and a scampi. The chocolate nemesis was heaven and my friend appeared to enjoy her waffle with ice cream and toffee as she didn’t speak at all whilst eating it all.

My first time going to the lodge and I will definately be returning with family!

We took Mum here today for Sunday lunch, the ladies had the sweet and sour King Prawns, and I had the Steak and Ale pie.

This was our second mid week visit and the place was packed! We were lucky to get a table at 6pm and I recommend booking as some people who arrived later were turned away. I really applaud the 2 servers and back of house staff who worked that night as it was a full house. Great atmosphere. I had the New York deli burger and hubby had the haloomi burger. Both were delicious as was the sticky toffee pudding. We will be back.

We had a birthday meal out and had a great time. The food was really nice but we found the chips and onion rings a bit greasy. To be fair the waitress was fantastic and we got this knocked off our meal. The pies and burgers were really lovely. The service was great as well and the staff friendly. I’m sure this would be great for lunch as well.

Came here for an impromptu early mid week dinner and hubby ordered the ribs and I had the blue cheese and bacon burger. OMG delicious, my mouth is watering whilst typing this review! Ellie our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make our decisions as there was a lot to choose from. We both started by ordering weak black tea and she was smart enough to leave the tea bags out of the pot so we could make it just how we liked it. Very thoughtful. A free refill of hot water for the tea pot too. Much appreciated, thank you.

Traditional pub food done extremely well. Good value for money 👍 the burgers are my favourite and the cheesecake is always a winner too!

Went to the Lodge for lunch with friends and had a lovely lunch food was first class . Staff were friendly and helpful in a nice atmosphere shall be returning at some stage thank you very much

Went here with my family and friends very poor service staff next to useless. Food was so poor we left if you think this place is good you really need to get out more.

We have just been to this lovely restaurant for a birthday lunch for my hubby, the meal was delicious , he wanted a Ploughman's which wasn't on the lunch time menu but the lovely waitress had a word with Chef and he produced one of the tastiest Ploughman's he has ever had, his words not mine,!! Service was efficient and friendly ,we will certainly be going again very soon, can't recommend enough,

A pub in the middle of nowhere but well worth the trip to it, Quality food, fine beers and wines are available. Excellant service by the staff and nothing was to much trouble. Meals were served hot and no long waits between courses. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it is superb

Arrived with family , we had pork roast with veg, all the food was nice and tasty, staff were friendly and polite, advisable to book, plenty of parking Maybe another slice of pork and some crackling , but that just me

We had booked into The Lodge for afternoon tea for a surprise baby shower. The staff were great and we pretty much had the room to ourselves, where we could decorate and have it looking how we wanted. The food came out and was lovely! Great selection of sandwiches and cakes, homemade sausage rolls, quiche and scones. Would definitely go back.

Three of us had a different meal each and they were so delicious. Great food, great portion size and excellent value for money.

Small, quaint but lovely. Good food. Decent sized portions. Well worth a visit...especially for Sunday lunch.

Took my husband here to celebrate his birthday. Restaurant is pleasant and comfortable and service attentive and friendly. My husband's steak was nice enough but nothing special. My steak and ale pie was dry and the pastry like concrete. It was inedible. it had obviously been reheated from lunch time service. My husband had a free dessert by way of compensation. I was disappointed as it rather spoiled our evening and it wasn't cheap.

So glad that we booked a table, within 15 minutes of arriving The Lodge started to fill up. Restaurant and bar. None of these were really large parties, just some out for a Saturday lunch probably after a hard week.
