The Little Castle in Chesterfield

Went with friends for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. Table had been decorated, which was a pleasant surprise. We were served by both Vicky and Kyle who were very pleasant as were all the staff. The carvery was the best have ever had, meat very tender and cooked to perfection, good choice of vegetables and it was hot, unlike some carvery’s, never seen such big Yorkshire puddings. Would recommend and definitely visit again.

Many thanks to Dawn and Chelsea for our excellent Sunday lunch. Really friendly service, the food came out quickly and was very tasty. It’s just a shame the kebabs were out of stock, I’ll have to come back to try them.

We come here regularly for the carvery on Sunday. The food is lovely and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend!

Excellent service from Amanda & Kayleigh. Regular visitor to here and always good. Sunday roast nice, had the belly pork today with the trimmings.

We came for carvery and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent, all the team seem to be enjoying their job keeping customers happy- especially Amanda and Kyle. Now dog friendly! Although the prices have gone up over the past few years like most other pubs/restaurants we found the food to be good value and of good quality- especially the beef, which was tender and tasty.

Found seats when it was almost full, served by the lovely staff called Dawn and Chelsea, food was excellent! Recommended to friends all around.

We visit this pub after walking our dogs around Poolsbrook as we have always been very welcomed and even with our dogs. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and we have to particularly mention Jake and Sarah who alway go above and beyond to accommodate us when we visit. Place looks very old and dirty .seats are all rips . Food was ok, not the cheapest

Absolutely appalling. My daughters food was a joke she had Cucumber and Carrot sticks came out with 1 really small piece of Cucumber I had to ask for some more. My food was wrong. Paid for extra steak well done I received one piece of steak not well done. Food was cold. My partner had nachos and the meat on it looked like someone had chewed it and spat it on the nachos also she asked for no rocket and only no rocket they didn't put any salad on at all and her food was cold. Our table was near the big window and there was ants crawling all over the window sill

Little castle. Foods doubled in price. Most of tables are reserved but no one sat in them.and Lynn had to throw one at roast counter because meat portion was small. 28£ for carvery and gammon dinner and a drink. Mushrooms where the size of peas 1 quarter of tomato. Waitrose tried to take my meal even tho I had not finished it

Staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Visit spoiled by customer on next table allowing her dog to sit on table Dog friendly is good but please ask customers to have respect for hygeine etc 🤢😰

This is a brilliant place, it has alarge car park, the staff are welcoming, someone spoke to us as soon as we came through the door. The menu is great, the food is fabulous and it's spotlessly clean.

We’ve had a lovely time, can’t fault the service from Dawn, Jake and Nathan..also the food quality, i throughly enjoyed my meal and both of my children loved their meals. The only reason for the 4/5 stars on food was the lack of when ordering (no mix grill, no beans ect. Not at fault of the staff at all.

Had lunch... Coffee was horrible.. machine made and topped up with water. I had the Ultimate Southern Fried Chicken burger... Looked great., nice big tower but the chicken was never freshly cooked. I didn't want to complain as I was with a client. But I made them laugh when they came to clear the plates when I said that the chicken was harder than anyone I'd ever met from Chesterfield!! .... Chips are nice though. Come on, at least cook the food fresh and don't store it under a heat lamp! Will I go again??? Cautiously.

Called into the Little Castle 28th March 24, the food was lovely and the staff where very attentive. The portions are decent and very tasty. It was a really enjoyable experience.

We decided to dine here after looking around Bolsover village it appealed to us because it was large and had room for our fur babies pushchair. We were instantly made welcome by the kind gentleman at the front desk and by the staff on duty who all took delight in fussing our babies (all 5) and providing water for them. Before anyone complains they were using sanitiser and washing their hands... We had the carvery which was absolutely perfect most carveries are luke warm and limp but ours was lovely with generous portions. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and we felt at ease there. We also had a portion of the desserts from the chilled cabinet (lemon meringue sponge and chocolate explosion) these were scrumptious and again good portion sizes. What really makes the Little Castle is the staff they are so kind and friendly and welcoming it was so lovely of them. The management of this lovely place should be proud of their hard working and kind attentive staff they truly are an asset! We will definitely be back soon and will tell others about this gem. Thank you for having us.

Myself and my friend have visited the Little Castle today for lunch, food was perfect and service amazing! Nathan was the best and recommended the Chocolate Brownie pudding which we loved and will definitely be returning. Nathan was friendly, helpful and even made us laugh, he definitely lights up a room and provides a friendly comfortable atmosphere as well as clearly knowing his stuff! Can’t wait to return x

Absolutely brilliant, great booking at the last minute, not easy for a table of 12 but this team pulled it off with no bother, on arrival the manager was kind and helpful as were the rest of the team, food was hot, plenty full and very tasty, Nathan at the bar was fantastically funny and friendly, this whole team worked great together, did everything we asked for and are a credit to this company! Keep up the great work, and thank you for a lovely visit!

Food this time, i ordered the chicken kebab and it was cold, I tried to eat some of it but just couldn't. Anyway the lady with the short curly hair and glasses was fantastic, it's a shame I didn't catch her name. She asked if I wanted anything else but I said no its OK. (It put me off) so she asked if I wanted a refund cos I'd hardly touched my meal. So I had a refund for my meal. My friends meal was lovely, she had the pie, which i had last time i visited and was nice and hot and she enjoyed her meal. We still stayed and had a couple of drinks and was lovely. My friend had pieces of cake to take away, we were served by this lovely lady who helped me with my meal. I would like to say a HUGE Thank u to her for her help. Xx

Desert (apple crumble) was scrumptious! Service by Nathan was exceptional. Nathan provided top service and was very friendly and good humoured. He is a huge asset to the team!

Was recommended here as we live an hour away and needed to feed our baby a bottle. What a lovely place, very nicely kitted out, lovely atmosphere. The lady was very accommodating with helping to sort our babies bottle. We had a cup of tea but would love to come back for a carvery sometime 😊😊

Nice carvery shame the Yorkshire's where rubbery. Swapped the first and second was better but still hard to cut. Rest of the dinner was beautiful

I Called in at the little castle on the way home from work, feeling a little peckish I ended up driving through a village called Duckmanton I asked if there was anywhere nearby to eat, " The Little Castle" literally within minutes I was warmly welcomed in by a wonderful lady called Vicky and another friendly chatty lady called Grace, made me feel so welcome and if I needed anything just to ask, Great food great service , All the best to the very welcoming staff , Vicky and Grace, Many Thanks Steve

Very disappointed with the food, I had the carvery and husband had the mega mixed grill, the carvery was luke warm, tasteless like it had been hours their meat very small bits, this potatoe thing was horrible. The stuffing was like glue not nice the mixed grill at 22 quid 3 tiny mushrooms and not great 😑

Visited for my son's 16th birthday. Staff were welcoming and went out of their way to take the onions out of the doner Kebab mix. Pub was warm and clean and had a good atmosphere. We'll definitely visit again soon for food.

Visited today 8th Feb, despite snow & traffic chaos. 3 of us had excellent carvery, Hobgoblin & coffee, served by lovely staff. It was weekday carvery obviously. I tried to leave a review online, but Google annoyingly messed me about, said it sent code to phone, which I couldn't find, then it blocked my email temporarily. So much security you can't get the simplest things done

The food was absolutely immaculate - Gordon Ramsay would be proud. Service was great, the people were lovely to talk to Atmosphere felt like when I looked outside I’d see glorious Swiss alps rather than British parking lot. Beautiful.

Lovely food, great location, even has EV charging

After travelling to meet family, we decided to have dinner at Little Castle. The service was terrible today (Saturday 03 Feb 24) waited to be served at the carvery for around ten mins, after that, young girl came out to serve us, plated our food and then said oh wait there I need to go and get pigs in blanket (we had paid the extra fee for them) why didn’t she let us know they weren’t ready and not plate our food up! Resulted in food being minutely warm at best. The Yorkshire puddings were tiny, flat and hard too. As two family members ordered off the menu, we waited 15 mins until fetching our Cavery so timings was good for us all to eat, their food turned up 10 mins after we had finished eating. Complained to the server and her response was they will have a word. This is no good. We then ordered cakes to take away with us for later on in the day, this took another 20 mins to put them in a takeaway box. You don’t expect to go and spend over £100 for 4 people and have such a terrible time! Wont be going again.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is great and a good choice on the menu. We will be back

We called in and were very pleased with our visit. Lovely friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure our visit was pleasant. Separate gluten free menu and the burger my husband had was nice. Its always an issue eating out with an allergy.

All delicious and great service

We came for my son’s 17th birthday. One meal came wrong when we complained the staff didn’t look too impressed. Lots of tables needed clearing and it wasn’t overly busy . Lots of staff stood around talking when they could have been cleaning up . Food was ok although fries really cold .

This is the second time we have been here. Had a carvery with the family here this time. Service was amazing and lovely atmosphere, even when it is busy. The carvery itself was really nice, good amount of meat and fairly priced. Vegetables were also nice, only complaint is that the cauliflower was hard, and it was the same on our last visit. We were served by Amanda who gave us an amazing customer service, and the rest of the staff were very fridndly and welcoming. Blue light card discount was also offered, which was nice. A very good place to come eat as a family.

Carvery wasn't too bad, service OK and really appreciated the 25 minute wait while the baked the cake from scratch!?!?

Did not have the starter I wanted, also did not have the mains I wanted, opted for the mixed grill was told did not have that either so said I would go else where for food. Then to my amazement they had the mixed grill so stayed but overall it was a disappointed don't think I will return

Saturday 20th January, went for my family birthday meal, there was 11 of us, it was absolutely lovely, the staff, the service and the food, it was enjoyed by everyone, thankyou so much for a lovely evening 😊

Reserved Table, Manager and staff welcoming,efficeint and friendly.We had the carvery and it was the end of the day. Roast Potatoes were hard and dried out Cauliflower was frozen and had a twang to it, Yorkshire were dried out also. Probably not the best choice in the evening. On the plus side the Beef was good as were the other vegetables.

Really good service, had a fantastic time staff was very welcoming and all round had a good time, would defo recommend for family gatherings or hang out with your friends me and my wife had so much fun were coming back next week

We always enjoy the carvery at little castle on a Sunday. Plenty.of choice compared to local carveries and the meat is always delicious. The staff have always been polite and no exactly ehat great service is. Nothing is ever to much trouble.

First time for a long time since we had been to Little Castle after having awful meals in the past but oh! what a lovely surprise as the meals was exceptional,it was a Sunday Carvery and there was a wide range of fresh vegetables,meats were delicious too.Everything was very clean staff were very friendly and welcoming also.So well done all and thank you for getting things right at last,we will certainly be back.

Went for Sunday carvery today, the food looked great but was cold straight off the hot plate, clearly not working very well. Frozen roast potatoes not cooked very well and instant watery gravy.

Very enjoyable visit and had a lovely meal. Super quick service which was superb and wonderful, friendly people to look after us. Thank you so much for helping us to have a great meal.
