Visited this tea room today after parking on street outside and reading reviews. Ventured in and received a very warm welcome. We had tea for 2.... Unfortunately due to recent bad weather no crab sandwiches available but hey ho... So I had poached eggs on toast and my wife had the melted brie baguette. Both meals were quality and generous helpings of salad accompanied. Looking at others in cafe all meals looked great. All food appears to be locally sourced.... My eggs were great.Total bill was about £16 which we thought was great value. We will be back what a find!

Straightway I was interested in all the authentic Lighthouse memorabilia on display here... also the friendly and obviously committed staff. I ordered Soup & Triple-Sandwich [ chicken & bacon ]. Very good sandwich - but Mushroom Soup had been thinned out. Needed to be more of a pottage. Nonetheless, I'd come back... if I could find a table!!

Walkers Fish Restaurant

08/01/2020: Driving back to York after nice winter walk to Bridestones in Dalby Forest we were in need of late lunch. Noticed this place and were very surprised it was much more than any average fish restaurant! Leek soup and fish cakes very good and array of desserts (home made) exceeded all but one restaurant we have been in in UK! As we also planned dinner out we shared delicious lemon pavlova. Quiet when we visited but can imagine this place will be jumping in season!
10/01/2020: We regularly visit this very popular family run restaurant. It is an ideal venue for family meals and a particular favourite when overseas family and friends visit. Extensive menu choice from regular fish and chips, which are the best in town, to numerous other fish dishes and plenty of none fish items. The steak pie and salads are delicious. Staff are very friendly and efficient and all food is top quality and portions generous. The desserts are amazing with a super choice displayed in a refrigerator. It is very popular so booking is advised.

The Staircase Cafe

29/01/2020: We'd heard a lot about this place so decided to pop in after a blustery mooch around Whitby. What a hidden gem. We immediately felt at home as soon as we walked in. The cafe is on the first floor and is tastefully decorated in pastel colours. When we got to the counter, making a choice wasn't easy as everything looked gorgeous. I plumped for a scone with jam whilst my partner had cappuccino cake that for once was walnutless much to her delight. Both were excellent. She assured me that the coffee was superb and my mint tea eased my troubled stomach nicely. Great service too from both ladies. This will be our go to cafe from now on.
13/03/2020: Had afternoon tea a couple of days ago and came away a bit disappointed. After reading the reviews we expected wonderful things but unfortunately not in our case. The food we had was ok but it was only 2 really really tiny sandwiches each and a very small bit of wrap I think we expected a bit more for the price. The cake pieces were ok but the scones a bit dry. The place itself was lovely as were the lady and gentlemen who served us. Maybe we've been spoilt at other venues. On a good note the place was very busy and we hope it continues its just not for us...sorry.
