A new menu, which has added a complete dynamic to the choice of food. While the food was good. The three pints of San Miguel, were even better. Very clean and fresh. Will see you soon.

Took our Dutch friends here for lunch on a Saturday, they loved the food, the new chef came out and spoke to us too. The liver and bacon was excellent and our Dutch friends enjoyed the soup, ham hock and the Crab salad. Apparently new meals are coming, well worth a revisit

Not a biased review. For a traditional seaside pub and restaurant. Which has withstood a tidal surge, in 1908 when it was a small farm. Offers a great selection of locally sourced seafood, dietary alternative specialties and a friendly atmosphere.

Our go to summer pub. On a nice afternoon/evening there isn't much better place to have a beer or 2 and some good food. My wife is gluten free and the lifeboat's fish and chips is made to order gluten free, also fresh GF onion rings. nothing out of a packet here. The choice of beer is good too, staff are friendly and helpful too. it's also a 2 min walk from my house. which is a bonus.

Visited the Lifeboat on a few afternoons last week while on holiday. Lovely cosy pub with a nice garden and friendly staff. Garden has gone downhill since I last visited, used to look so pretty, plants need some serious attention. Menu looked inviting so we booked an evening meal. We had a couple of drinks first and then went in for our meal. We had to order at the bar and pay there and then and find our table despite the owner and chef sitting drinking at the bar. We had to get our own knives and forks and the condiments are all in plastic sachets which for the prices they are charging unacceptable, even Wetherspoon's have salt and pepper pots and bottled sauces. Our meals came to the table within 5 minutes which rang alarm bells. My friend had the Selsey Crab salad which came with new potatoes, coleslaw and salad. The potatoes looked pre cooked and unappetising and the rest of the meal was absolutely freezing so had obviously been pre planted and left in fridge, you couldn't taste anything it was so cold. I had the Dover Sole with chive sauce served with new potatoes, carrots green beans and greens. The vegetables had been pre cooked and pinged, colour taste and texture was awful. Dover sole looked nice but was overcooked. We didn't eat any of our meal and left, extremely dissapointed and a total waste of £40 for 2 main courses.

We used to love this pub , the food and atmosphere were great. What’s happened in a year? It was like a different place altogether. First of all , a lovely sunny day , lots of older couple S out and about …no crab! So onto the prawn salad. Simply put I couldn’t eat it ! The prawns in someone’s bizarre rendition of a Marie Rose sauce , were utterly tasteless and tiny, in fact uniformity of size suggests frozen . . The new potatoes large and uninspiring . There was even an unwanted sliced hard boiled egg plonked on. The coleslaw resembled coleslaw as much as the prawns resembled prawns ..it was full of onion and little else, as for the dressing, one can only hazard a guess. It wasn’t cheap either , huge increase in prices. Sadly huge decrease in the quality of food. Husband had scampi which was a tiny tasteless portion with tinned peas ! A dog poohed on its way out and the ladies at the table next to us had to clear it up themselves ( not their dog i hasten to add), the trodden in evidence was still there when we left …staff knew about it . All-in- all a miserable, expensive mistake . So disappointing for such a good pub to go downhill sp quickly.

It's nothing special, just a pub close to the beach where you can also eat. Don't expect a gastro pub, the food was not worth it and very overpriced (Burger on the kids menu for £12) Probably good for a beer and chips but don't expect anything culinary.

Four of us stopped off for a light lunch - sandwiches and a beer. Delicious crab sandwiches and London Pride at its best. I can't fault the experience, so five stars; but looking at the menu, a baked potato seemed surprisingly pricey. Still, you don't have to have a baked potato. j

I love this pub, the outside is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for the kids to play. But inside is the best; a real a real old fashioned pub that is reminiscent of the 70's. Small tables, little stools, pork scratchings behind the bar. We visited on the Friday evening and came back again on Sunday unfortunately they don't serve food on Sunday evening so we missed out there . The food is standard pub fayre but the lasagne with good old garlic bread - looked delicious

Close to the sea and the Lifeboat. We arrived just after midday. The menu was small and my partner chose fish and chips and I chose fisherman pie. Close to a fishing port one might expect fresh fish but my partners fish, a manufactured triangle with a flat batter coating. Definitely not cod and very wet. My fisherman’s pie was equally disappointing with little fish and a few tiny prawns. The mash on top has no cheese or crispy top. The veg was a few chewy limp cabbage leaves, carrots and limp green beans. All looked like they had dried out under a heater. All in all very disappointing for the start of the summer season with few patrons. There was a specials board we didn’t see when we ordered so can only hope they were better than their main menu

Having stayed in Selsey happy to find a pub less than five minute walk down the road, so everybody could have a drink and chill out. Only to find because we had two children one aged 11 and one age 15 we were sitting in a family area. With absolutely no atmosphere at all. I have to say this pub is very old-fashioned and should just say no children. For us, the whole reason of going to a pub is to have some atmosphere chill out I have some local food, support the area and I have some nice drink. I’m not want to leave reviews, but the food was not great, would rather have cooked. Being right on the seafront I believe if you order fish, it should be fresh and this was not. Not a place I would recommend going to.

Haven't been back much since but when we have the welcome is usually the same but was really shocked to see how much the prices have risen for food.
