The Left Bank in Glasgow City

Wonderful food like last time, friendly and lovely staff. Overall, it is a very comfortable place to enjoy some delicious food (2023). (2024 review) As amazing as ever, atmosphere, food, and staff are all fantastic. I am looking forward to coming back soon

Went for breakfast today and we weren’t disappointed! The staff were welcoming and genuinely friendly. There was a good vibe in the restaurant/cafe. Great coffee too! A wee bit pricey however I would say that based on what we ate it was worth it and we can’t wait to come back again!

I’m still thinking about this place!! Great breakfast and lunch options here. The gochujang chicken sandwich was incredible (although as someone who loves sauce, I wish it had a little more sauce/gochujang on it). The crispy edges were the best part! But that’s not all, you get a side of their delectable rosemary fries and a side salad. I normally don’t go crazy for side salads, but I don’t know what they put in there to make me polish off every last bit. Plus, portion sizes were very generous. Seems to be a great place to grab drinks as well, as I watched cocktails being distributed to tables. Dog friendly!!

a huge fan of the left bank ! I have come in here several time for a drink and to study and the staff are all so kind and friendly. The food (especially the sweet potato fries) is amazing and the hot chocolates never disappoint. I would recommend the left bank to anyone. For a lovely meal or a relaxing study space ! Callum and Jasmine are especially attentive and friendly

This place never lets you down. Welcoming staff, wide selection of menus - and including vegetarian and separate vegan menus - and they accept dogs! This time I had the vegetarian Indian Pole Bowl. So delicious, freshest of ingredients and super filling. Happy ⭐️Happy ⭐️ Happy⭐️

Suuuuper yummy food and drink, my friend had the veggie breakfast and really enjoyed it and i had the lebanese breakfast and thought it was wonderful. We both got the cucumber and elderflower spritzer - highly recommend (although make sure to stir it properly when it arrives as the flavoured syrup is a layer at the bottom for the aesthetic haha - i made the mistake of not realising this at first but my friend pointed it out and it was all good). Very average prices for the west end as well - for sure not the cheapest but that's sort of what you expect for the area, so not a huge problem for me personally. Lovely lovely service and atmosphere as well. I only docked one star as the food did take quite a while to arrive (about half an hour) which was fine for my friend and i as we were having a great chat, but if you are in a rush or are very very hungry then it's something to keep in mind. That being said, we went on a Saturday lunchtime which i reckon is their busiest time, so this may differ at other points during the week! All round, had a great time and will definitely go again.

Not been in here in years and was pleased we dropped in. Lebanese breakfast didn't disappoint. Had a couple of mocktails too, which were delish. Lovely staff and good service. Place was bustling but we were seated quickly and the soul tunes were perfect for a chill Saturday afternoon.

The food was incredibly good with generous portions. And the friendly staff treated my nasty little sausage dog like royalty today. So impressed.

The gochujang crispy chicken burger was extremely tasty and probably the best chicken burger I have ever eaten. The fries that came with it were also perfect. If I'm in Glasgow again I'll definitely come back!

Must visit! incredible service. Enjoyed the most delicious Xmas dinner here. The staff were excellent and supporting big group bookings and the process of organising with them was super smooth. The food was divine! Roast was perfection, bean cassoulet was wow. Credits to the chef and to the wonderful staff. A special thanks especially to Callum who made the meal out extra special. I’ll be back and recommending the left bank to anyone looking for delicious food with excellent service in the west end

A huge thanks you to the brilliant staff at The Left Bank. We had a very last minute let down with another restaurant nearby for a 30th Birthday. With 15 mins notice the Left Bank catered beautifully for us. We had a private dinning area, wonderful food and immaculate service. Couldn’t thank them enough. The Vegan menu is brill! Thanks again.

We went for the dinner menu few nights back and couldn’t believe we hadn’t visited prior. Super tasty menu, large portion sizes on the mains, great house cocktails. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

The full breakfast was quite disappointing and the tacos main tasted nice but would have expected more than 50gr of chicken in a £15 main. Other reviews that include pictures show a very different dish so not sure if they just couldn’t be bothered today. Staff and service was great though.

We ate here last night to get away from the trick or treaters and I cannot believe we haven't been before! Everything was exceptional, from the food, the vegan options, the fact they were SO dog friendly they even brought a blanket over. The drinks/cocktails were also amazing. The decor and lighting is also fabulous 👌 I asked for recommendations on food and drinks and without hesitation was given awesome advice. I even ended up asking Chloe (who took our booking over the phone) if she could pick the table for us as I hadn't been before, and every request was dealt with perfectly. They didn't miss a beat. The cauliflower small plate and the sesame seed tofu, in particular, were UNREAL. But we got several dishes to share, and everything was delicious *chefs kiss* I will 100% be returning to this venue, and think it's definitely one of my top ten spots in Glasgow.

Came in after another place let us down. Never been before and what a pleasant surprise! Also noting negative comments about dogs previous - our dog was pampered silly! Straight after we sat down owner brought a blanket to lie on, water in a bowl and a wee treat. Outstanding!!

My colleague recommended this brunch cafe to me, so I decided to drop in for a quick meal. The staff were exceptionally friendly. I ordered a bank breakfast and a pot of breakfast tea. Overall, the food was good, but the mushrooms and bean were too cold. Additionally, I wasn't provided with any cutlery at the beginning of my meal, so I had to request a fork and knife from the staff later on. Despite these minor inconveniences, I might still recommend the place overall.

Absolutely, one of the best restaurants in Glasgow! I had the Mexican eggs with Chorizo which was filled with flavor and fresh spices.

Superb vegan food, really good service. I've only given four stars for atmosphere as we were in at a particularly quiet time of day.

We got poached eggs with French toast, bacon and syrup and wow it was one of the best breakies ever! Visiting from London and the food at the Left Bank was tastier than most places back home. Awesome service and food! Will definitely be back for sure!

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, decent food. Had good fish and chips (chips though a tad mushy) and tofu tacos which were spicy and tasty (off gluten free menu) though the corn taco base was a little chewy. Skip the ginger beer/dreadful Old Jamaica brand. Small wine list. Tasty Panna Cotta for dessert.

Went in for a coffee and after browsing the menu couldn’t resist The Lebanese breakfast. Probably the best breakfast in the west end, and a great flat white as well! Good vibes, chilled music, and lovely staff. Will be back!

Ten out of ten! If you are in doubt about where to eat in the west end, have your meeting with a colleague, or have a pint just come here. The food is delicious and prepared with great attention to detail. There's ample choice for all tastes. The venue itself is very atmospheric and the location convenient. Above all, though, the staff should really be commended for the courtesy and flexibility. Thoroughly recommended!

Le restaurant affiche un prix de burger à 15£ et au moment de la commande elles te proposent "avec du fromage et bacon ?" naturellement tu réponds par oui car le fromage est un élément essentiel d'un burger et au moment du payement tu te rend compte que le burger est passé à 20£ ce qui la rend une vente trompeuse.

Service is great, but the food is not. 17pounds for fish and chips is outrageous. The menu does not even explicity states it is serving fish and chips.. instead it is making it look like your getting served a luxurious fish meal. No vegetables are served with the meal (unless you pay extra) and the chips are too salty. The soup as a a starter was also too oily. However the pokebowl was tasty, but not too special either. Not worth your money.

Managed to get last table for two on Saturday night. Quiet corner, unrushed service with lovely fresh food and nice wine. Definitely recommend.

It was a perfect spot to catch some of the UCI world championships, as cyclists went zooming past the hill. Good spot for brunch and rest of the menu also looked very appealing and different, not your usual fare. Would love to go back and try other stuff on the menu!!! Staff are very friendly and attentive.

The Left Bank is definitely one of the places to visit for food. We were served by a lovely and attentive staff member who informed us of the specials and said just to ask if we needed anything else. I asked if non-alcoholic cocktails were available. The staff member asked what flavours I liked and said that they would create me a cocktail. The drink was phenomenal. We both ordered the chicken burger, which came in a brioche bun, with fresh salad and fries seasoned with rosemary on the side. My compliments to the chef as the dish was delish! It was truly divine. I wish I could give more than five stars because it really is heaven. To the staff, thank you for making this place as wonderful as it is. We will be back!

The Left Bank is one of my favourite places to go in Glasgow! The staff are really nice and the food tastes amazing. It's a little pricey for the student-filled area, but the good quality is worth it. I especially love their coffee and the eggs with mushrooms and truffle oil. The place is spotless and has such a cozy vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. It's always a great experience when I go there. It's a must try! The only note for the staff is that the menu could use a refresh.

This is an absolutely spot-on place for atmosphere, service & food. It's not cheap but definitely NOT overpriced for the quality, taste and service of food. I went with the chef's soup of the day (coconut & tumeric) accompanied with toasted sourdough bread and astoundingly salubrious and flavoursome olives - fresh water is served at every table. Staff are lovely and genuinely helpful. Will return! 💖

This is an amazing place, can't recommend enough, food ,staff and restaurant are top's, we were there on Saturday 8th July with our small dog, couldn't be welcomed more by the lovely staff, we will be back, hidden gem 👍

After a long sleepless night of travelling we arrived to Glasgow. And the left bank brought us all the life we needed for the day. Their Scottish breakfast and black pudding with egg were simply amazing. Totally recommended!

Food is SO taisty. The staff are lovely. Prices are reasonable.

Fabulously friendly and flexible staff, very willing to cater for my preferences. The food was delicious, the atmosphere fab, the music good and the staff outstandingly delightful. Best find on this holiday. Vegan and Veggie options available. I enjoyed the large open windows and interior design just as much btw.

Fantastic experience! Delectable food and super reasonable prices. Our waiter was kind, patient, and lovely to chat with. The food came out quickly and we loved everything. I would absolutely recommend the eggs with smoked salmon and one of the refreshing seltzers. If I'm ever in Glasgow again, I'll make sure to stop by this place for some delicious food and great people.

I recommend this place without reservation. The staff are fantastic - they accommodated our choir of 20 after a concert with a bespoke menu - they could not have been more helpful! It was an ideal place for a group to eat - lots of choice and all diets catered for. Some others came for just a drink and were equally well-catered for. The food was delicious - interesting and full of flavour. The service throughout the evening was efficient, attentive and friendly. We had an excellent evening!

Came for lunch with my mam and had a lovely, well serviced meal which she described as the best vegan food in glasgow! Lovely staff, very welcoming and delicious food. Will be back!

What fabulous food! The Lebanese breakfast was filling and completely delicious- I’d definitely order it again and the Korean cauliflower was also great! Lovely coffees and super friendly staff - highly recommend this place!! We will be back.

We came to Left Bank two days in a row - for brunch on Sunday, loved it so much we came back on Monday for an ice coffee. Great vibes and yummy food. Lovely place to hang with friends.

Best french toast I ever had!!! Callum and Lucy were so welcoming and helpful. Lucy made a 10/10 coffee. Would 100% recommend and can't wait to come back!

The food was delicious, so flavourful. And such a good range of options I didn’t know where to start! The customer service was top tier which complimented the lovely vibes. I will definitely be coming back as soon as I can.

I just love this place, always a fantastic meal! On this visit we had the sea bream (which was cooked to perfection) and a beef burger which was in one of the best brioche rolls I’ve ever had! The service was efficient and friendly, perfect for a relaxed midweek evening meal. Will return.

A couple of people that we know from the city suggested we try "The Left Bank" on Gibson Street and we weren't disappointed! The staff are super friendly, young and fun....they engaged well with us and seemed interested. They were busy and that's always a good sign and the accents appeared in the main to be "local". We never had to wait more than five minutes for a table which was amazing considering it was a Bank Holiday. Only good vibes at The Left Bank by the looks of things too. The longest time from sitting to ordering (on the three occasions that we visited) was roughly ten minutes. The food arrived in a timely fashion also. The French Toast with Caramelised Banana is to die for! So delicious!! My son had the Eggs Mornay Caledonia (poached egg with mornay sauce and smoked salmon). He was equally impressed. However, the best item of all on the menu was surprisingly their Breakfast Tea. I'm a tea lover and when I'm out I'm loathe to have a cuppa as it never tastes the same as at home. However, the tea here was SO GOOD that I had two pots of it on the three visits we made to The Left Bank that weekend! Full-bodied, not bitter and no tinny after taste! Believe me when I say it's definitely the best tasting tea outside my own home and that's high praise from me! I also noticed that many patrons brought their doggies along 🐶🐕 while they were enjoying a leisurely breakfast / brunch / lunch and as a dog lover I approve! Was a great talking point between the tables. I can highly recommend "The Left Bank" and look forward to visiting there again soon!

Worst meal I have had dining out in a long time. Fish tacos! Fish fried in panko was fine. But why would you serve crispy fish in a crispy taco ! The salad in the taco was dry cabbage ( red and green) No dressing. Completely inedible . Then to add insult to injury, they had dumped it all on a bed of bulgar wheat. It didn’t even make sense. There were small strips of gaucomole on the side which ran out quickly. Despite telling the staff in a very jovial and kind way that this meal was crap ( not their fault), no one took the initiative to deduct anything from the bill. It’s such a shame. St Luke’s in the East End were serving the same dish as a special last weekend for 30% less and they were fabulous. Perfect balance of flavours and textures. I’ve eaten on the Left Bank many times and generally their food is good. Don’t mess with the Taco please.

Back again to the left bank: Even better than last time. The gluten free menu is just fabulous. Really great selection and very tasty. Gluten free beer on tap! I couldn't ask for me. Highly recommended for gluten free and everyone else😀😀 very happy and content coeliac diner!

Had an amazing breakfast here. Both the full Scottish and Lebanese breakfast were absolutely spot on, every element cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly and helpful as well - the only reason it’s 4 stars and not 5 is the tea was a bit rubbish! Nicer quality breakfast tea would’ve made this perfect.

Took my mum & gran here for a belated mother's day. The service, food and atmosphere was amazing. We had the breakfast menu - my gran is a traditional eater', but the menu suited her well. The girls serving were also so lovely, and attentive (thank you for heating my Gran's coffee up!). I got the Lebanese breakfast which was sooo tasty. The potatoes were definitely the best part! Such a gem of a place and inexpensive. I will be back!!

Popped in after the rugby. Didn't bother with starters as was a bit late but our mains were delicious. Made a lovely salad for my mum who has sulphite allergies and she ate it all. Service was great, atmosphere was very relaxed and an all round lovely evening was had. Look forward to returning 😊

A great dog friendly eaterie. Dog owners often have to compromise on the quality of the food when we go out with our dogs but not here! Top class tastes, imaginative combinations and all made with are and flair. Highly recommended

The food was horrible. Had ordered lamb koftas. They were dry and tasteless. The squid rings were edible but not worth the price. Not a lot of options for the beer either. The place attempts to cook Mediterranean dishes but makes it absolutely tasteless. The waitress charged us extra too without telling us why. Absolutely do not recommend

The food was great, and the 4 of us got a table to ourselves in a wee cubby at the back of the restaurant. The only drawbacks were that the food took around 30 minutes to arrive after we ordered, and a dog barked once or twice while we were there.
