This was booked as a Sunday lunch for six people. Marcus, the host, is excellent and very quick with his Irish humour. We all opted for either the roast beef or roast chicken, which came with all the usual trimmings you would expect. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and Marcus's humour. I would certainly recommend a visit.

Visited today for the first which is a suprise as we don’t live far away but have just never thought of going, big mistake!!! Great experience firstly a very welcoming couple greeted us and we were shown to our seats it quickly became apparent nothing was a problem here , very willing to please you with anything required . The food was great we had the satay starter and my friend a soup , delicious and cooked fresh ! I had fish & chips for main and my friend the veggie curry . They offered to alter meal for my friend as she was on a diet and done the same with her cheese board adding extra fruit instead of crackers super accommodating !!!! We then had coffee which again I like weak my friend liked strong we were given a cafeteria each to our taste !!! My friend and I stayed the full afternoon and we were made welcome not told to go at any point and we had a terrific catch up !! Over all 10/10 customer service hard to find these days !!! I’ll be back shortly !!!! Thank you the last Shift !

What a find! Very welcoming and a friendly atmosphere adds to the experience. The background music was fantastic. Not too loud that it hindered conversation but added to the ambiance. Now for the food…perfect. Good sized portions, good choice on the menu and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend and will most certainly be returning

This is our local and we visit at least twice a month. Marcus is always friendly and welcoming and knows the food/bar menu very well. Jenny produces tasty and filling dishes and will adapt them for any allergies/ intolerances etc. The food is always cooked and presented really nicely and the atmosphere is modern but has lovely old stonework and beams. Great supply of keg beers and other alcohol drinks and the homemade lemonade is my favourite. Menu is varied and there’s something for everyone and changes with the seasons. There’s also a special board and Sunday roast which is very filling. Well worth a visit but make sure you book as it’s a small kitchen.

This was a great night out for my wife and myself. Great welcome, friendly staff and the food was fantastic. Traditional menu selection but I would recommend the steak and ale pie and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Generous portions and very tasty. The pastry top was excellent. All home made by Jenny the chef. The place was very well set up, clean and has a cosy atmosphere. Drinks and food were delivered professionally and timeously. The staff were brilliant and I couldn't fault them. I was driving so there was a good selection of non-alcoholic beers. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend to everyone.

The last couple of times we went, we never enjoyed our meals, the steak pie had over cooked, chewy pieces of steak, upon speaking to the manager, she took the plate away, then returned a few moments later stating “the chef tasted it, and said it wasn’t over cooked, but it was borderline” I have never had that experience before, and they never even took anything off our bill, even though we couldn’t eat the steak pie. Also there seems to be an issue when you don’t book a table before hand, even if the restaurant is completely empty, they will make a bit of a song and dance by looking at each table for a few minutes before deciding where to place you. I would understand if there were table bookings later on, however it was empty the whole time we remained dining. Not really impressed, much prefer the Inns in Forth for local grub.

Was on a long bike ride and saw the sign advertising that this pub had a coffee shop on a Sunday, so stopped. Despite me looking like a drowned rat (it was monsoon season that day), they welcomed me in and were so friendly. I just wanted something hot and quick and got a great haggis/egg roll with chips which was delicious. The coffee was so good I had 2 of them (I never have more than 1 normally). Great value, lovely staff, good food.

If this was my local village pub I’d be very happy. However it wasn’t worth the 30min drive from ours - nice enough but nothing out of the ordinary. The menu has a good choice, staple pub foods. Large portions, good value for money. The place is spotless but felt a little dated decor-wise. For a while there were almost as many staff out front as there were people in the restaurant which led to a bit of a weird vibe and we felt very overlooked/overheard. Am sure this wouldn’t be an issue when it’s busier. It would be a 4 star review except they left us sitting waiting to pay for 15 mins. When I eventually got annoyed enough to go find someone they said they were waiting for me to go up because the card machine wasn’t mobile. Why not say that when you bring the bill?!?! The default now is payment at table, I don’t mind if that’s not how you want to do it but you need to let people know.

We were staying in Sky Blue Cottage (a self-catering rental) just a couple of doors away and were recommended to book. The pub is cosy and very friendly. Not only did the landlord make us feel welcome, but so did everyone in the pub. We booked into the restaurant for our meal on the night we arrived (if I remember correctly they only do food over the week-end) and it was fabulous after a long journey to have a good choice of options and a warm, well cooked meal put in front of us.

Absolutely terrible!!!! We ordered a meal and when it arrived there was some sort of fluff covered in the carrots . Although we sent the meal back uneaten , unbelievably we were still charged for it !!!!!!!! When questioned we were offered to pay for half the meal . Terrible customer service , seems a common occurrence and hate to think what goes on in the kitchen

Had a great 3 course lunch here fir friend's birthday. Food portions were very generous and the choices on menu were varied enough for us all. All the food lived up to expectations and the bill was reasonable too. Already planning to return for a friend's 80th.only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for lunch and dinner but still very good.

The restaurant is located in Biggar High Street, where there is parking on-street in the locality for those driving, however we’re fortunate enough to live within reasonable walking distance. It’s closed on Monday & Tuesdays but otherwise open for lunch and dinner. The menu usually has half a dozen starters and desserts with around eight mains courses to choose from and these all feature fairly frequent changes. Currently the cost of a three course meal is £31.95 per head which represents a modest saving on the individual course prices. Supplements apply to some dishes which can increase the cost marginally but on the upside there are also discounted deals, such as “Steak Night” on a Thursday where you can get a starter and a steak for £25. To give some idea of what food is offered, on our last couple of visits we had Thai Fish Cakes with lemon mayo, Warm Bacon, Black Pudding & Potato Salad, Chicken Liver Pate with oatcakes and a Mushroom, Brie & Thyme Tart as starters. For mains we’ve had Haddock wrapped in Parma Ham, Breast of Chicken in Drambuie Sauce, Parsley & Hazelnut Crusted Cod, and Ballotine of Chicken & Haggis with a whisky sauce (as an alternative to peppercorn) all served with a selection of potatoes and vegetables. For desserts we both had the Cherry Bakewell Tart with Amaretto Custard on one occasion, an Apple & Blueberry Crumble Tart with custard and a Baileys & Strawberry Cheesecake with Chantilly Cream and fresh berries on another visit. Generally speaking the food is very good with only an occasional slight disappointment when for example a flavour mentioned on the menu isn‘t particularly noticeable in the dish itself - the Amaretto was subtle to the extent we couldn’t taste it in the custard for instance. Drinks are typically priced for a restaurant - e.g. we had a bottle of wine at £32 on one of the visits, a glass of Sauvignon is £5.25, and a G&T £4.75. Service is friendly, mannerly and efficient in our experience. On the past couple of visits it was busy and there was a good ambiance in the main restaurant with some guests being directed to the upstairs section on one occasion. Our only gripe is that the seats are not all re-upholstered and if you get one which hasn’t been "padded-out" in recent times it can get quite uncomfortable sitting for too long which is not ideal. Toilets are well maintained.
