The Lamb Inn West Wittering in Chichester

I cannot fault this place. Delicious food cooked by someone who knows what they’re doing. Nobsurprise, therefore, that every table was taken on a Tuesday night. Good beer too. Not local to me sadly but good enough to revisit the area so can go again. Can’t wait!

Beer battered fish and chips.. The chips were just badly cooked potato wedges. The rest was average at best. Disappointed.

The Manager or bar staff was vert rude. All the tables are booked 5 pm we were & probably 75% or the tables were empty there we could of sat at one just for a coffee that's all we waited would of only been 30 minute or so So we didn't spend any money at all. Shocking its like she didn't even wait to serve us we will not be going there again or recommending to anyone we know very unfriendly. This happened once in another Hall & Woodhouse pubs a couple of years back The Talisman although been going there for about 35 years or so its much better now. The lamb was very disappointing never been treated or spoken to so rudely is there not training you do for your staff.

Just had the most delicious roast for 4-people in Mother's Day. We had pork, beef and lamb dishes and they were all so delicious. The pub is full of character and charm. The staff are attentive and friendly - Clare was fabulous looking after us. It's a proper team there doing what it takes to keep their guests happy. Will definitely return ... Thank you Team Lamb xx

Had a fabulous Sunday lunch here to celebrate our daughters 50th birthday. The food & service were excellent . We were a large group but the service was unobtrusive & faultless.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Nothing left on our plates. Special mention to the chocolate fondue! Kids love the play area too. Thank you

Sunday lunch. Mmmmmmm delicious. Cocktails to start followed by wine to suit. No photos sorry but we enjoyed lamb roast of the tenderest pink lamb and medium cooked lamb as well as crispy pork and loads of apple sauce and of course beef and Yorkshire pudding. Don’t skip the cauliflower cheese! Very good quality meats and big Yorkshire puddings with all roast meals. Desserts were suitably delicious as well.

Cosy, warm and welcoming with a friendly Land Lady, large outside seating area and huge carpark. We have not eaten here but judging by the smells from the kitchen, its good grub! The roaring fire is a treat on these cold winter evenings and absolutely adds to the relaxed and charming atmosphere this pub has.

Lovely, cozy country pub. Nice outdoor playing area for little ones to burn off a few calories.

Menu great if you want seafood..I don't. Overpriced even for this part of UK. Not likely to re visit.

Still needs work - We have been visiting the Witterings for years now and have had a few meals in the lamb inn. The decor is good and cosy, as you would expect from a local pub. Although there's effort in the menu descriptions, more needs to be done with the taste of the food, if we are totally honest. Missing in flavour, the end result is lacklustre at best, yet the prices are above average. With drink and food, four adults and two kids we didn't seem much change out of £200. Plus we couldn't understand why they use sardines instead of prawns, never heard of tempura sardines before? Piri Piri chicken was just grilled chicken, must be cost cutting! We understand that costs have risen but wouldn't have expected the taste to drop at the same time either. Again maybe cost cutting? That said the staff are attentive and friendly, as with the benefit of allowing well behaved dogs too, which is helpful for our pooch. Time will tell but hopefully we will experience a tasty meal one day, if we decide to return....2/5

We popped in with three labradors for a drink and a bowl of spicy carrot soup after a cold walk around East Head. Just the ticket to rebive us.

Disappointed with the food, very average, sadly the price doesn't match the quality you would expect. Even though dogs are allowed in, I would have thought you would have been offered a water bowl/the dog possibly given a treat. - As we have been to other dog friendly pubs and the servers have been much more friendly/welcoming.

It was the night of the storm, so a bit quiet, it did busy up. Will come again soon.

Went along today with the family to have a Sunday roast. Had heard they had a new chef and the food was delicious. Didn't get a picture as was too excited to try! The new menu also looks great will be back to try this.

I took a group of 21 people for a Saturday lunch. The whole process from booking to menu choices and payment was easy and free of stress. The food was great and service very friendly and first class. Good beer too!

The service was welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent. Cannot rate it any highlier. Nice attentive staff. Great food nice atmosphere what more do you need.

Really lovely environment - sat by log fire, music not too loud. Staff welcoming and food delicious (if not cheap!). Dogs welcome and service good but don't go if you expect fast food. It was a Sunday and busy so service wasn't quick - just right if you're after a leisurely meal. Would recommend 👍

Been here a couple of times with my grandparents and I can only suggest good things. The staff are warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is friendly and comforting. The main attraction of the food also lives up to standard and is of an excellent quality! It didn't take long for the food to arrive as it was fairly quiet on both days but I can assure you the burger I had one time I visited was succulent and moist. The chips were crispy and crunchy alongside a good burger slaw as well. Overall a great time.

Great atmosphere and location plus very glad its still operating as a good pub. Long may that continue.

We were holidaying nearby and The Lamb quickly became our local. I think we stopped in everyday for a drink and then had lunch there on our final day. 7 adults and 2 dogs and we all loved it. Big pile of starters/sharing boards on the table to get us going and I don’t think we ordered two main courses the same so we were all dipping into each others plates (except my plate, I don’t share steak!!! 😂 ) and everything was first class, everybody loved it. And a great selection of beers, wines, spirits, coffees… vegan friendly options. I love finding a new beer on tap and the Outlands IPA was a treat. And my father-in-law loved the real ales, had a try of them all! Lovely place, lovely location, great indoor and outdoor seating (there’s a serving area and what looked like a pizza oven which I guess gets fired up in the peak months). And the service is great too, a really warm welcome and brilliant staff. As said, proper country pub! 👍🏻 We’ll go again for sure.

Very disappointed, we left a message to book a table and advised they may not return our call but will try their best to fit us in We cycled 6 miles to be told they had run out than that and the other of certain foods and could not accommodate us ! Terrible service, don’t bother

Have been for a pleasant ride on our bike we decided to pop into the Lamb for a quick drink to quench our thirst only to be charged for the most expensive 1/2 pint of lemonade in history. We ordered two shandy pints. One lager and one bitter. Had I realised I would be charge the same as for a full pint of the beer I wouldn’ have bothered with a shandy. It equates to £3.25 for each half of lemonade to go on top of the 1/2 pint of beer. I would love to know how much 1/2 a pint of lemonade would be normally as I do t see how you can justify £3.25 as a top up to half a pint of beer!!!! I did ask the question of the barmaid, but her refusal to confirm has confirmed that we will not be returning.

A wonderful pub. We arrived late afternoon with our 2 dogs after a day on the beach and were made so welcome. The staff kindly fussed over our dogs, brought over a bowl of water for them and were so kind, friendly, warm and chatty. The food is fantastic (we ordered the fish & chips). Great selection of beers and wines too. Very clean. Ample parking. Can't wait to return. Highly recommended.

Best roast dinner in the whole area! Loads of choice on Sunday. I went for the lamb. There was plenty of food and cooked perfectly. It does get very busy so book ahead, at about 1215 it was getting pretty full. Outside is first come first served however. Will come back soon.

We were a Party of 4 on a Weeks Vacation staying in West Wittering. Having driven past the Lamb Inn several times, I felt we just had to drop in one Lunchtime. We weren't disappointed. The Garden had a mixture of unusual Themed Areas & our 4 Legged Companion found the Artificial Grass a challenge. The Staff were all Friendly, Bubbly & Professional.

Nice pub with helpful staff. We only called for a drink but the pub was relatively full with diners. They all seemed happy with the meals and service. The drinks were fine but pretty expensive.

Only in Wittering a couple of nights staying ten minutes up the road. Personally all the staff were friendly and accommodating. Lovely food. I booked for 2 days meals, evening and Sunday lunch. I felt so sorry for all the staff on Saturday evening. They all worked so hard and I believe they were short of staff. So at least 1 customer was having a go at them. Unnecessary. Lovely place. Whilst visiting the area we booked for an evening meal as this was recommended by our airbnb host Pub was not as smart looking as on website Garden looked good for families with children as large play area and was busy Within the garden you could order freshly cooked pizzas from the pizza oven We chose to sit inside as was quieter (although decor was showing signs of ware and tear) - it was disappointing to see dogs were allowed inside the restaurant and allowed to roam free but I acknowledge that this is a personal dislike of mine as I feel it is unhygienic to have slobbering dogs where food is being served and consumed We ordered Sea Bass and a Seafood Risotto from the main menu Served promptly Sea Bass came whole (inc head) and unfilleted Served with al dente boiled potatoes and broccoli (not my choice) with green leaves - no evidence by taste or sight of advertised garlic butter Whilst flesh of fish was tasty there were so many bones and vegetables were hard and tasteless there was no pleasure derived from what little was eaten The Seafood Risotto looked very nice with plenty of seafood meat however the King Prawns advertised turned out to be just one laid across the top Although looking very nice the risotto was served very heavily seasoned with pepper making it almost inedible unless you had a passion for pepper When staff asked “how is your meal” they seemed to be trained to expect the standard response of “fine thank you” as when our dissatisfaction was explained the response was “oh” and to walk away Likewise when paying after the almost untouched plates were cleared our disappointment was again expressed there was no apology or empathy from staff At a cost of c£60 for 2 x main courses and 2 x drinks this was an expensive and disappointing meal Can not recommend this place for quality food

Great place to stop, beautiful gardens and the food is really tasty. Unfortunately, we waited 35 min for the food to arrive. We've got half of the food brought to the table way before the rest to arrive. Polite and professional staff but definitely a kitchen issue. Anyway, when we are back at the amazing West Wittering beach we will definitely stop again.

The Inn was probably short staffed when we visited on a Saturday night. Several vacant tables but after ordering, we waited an hour for dinner. Charming staff and delicious dinner, when it arrived!

We were able to walk here from itchenor though it was 30 mins and mostly on road tho quiet. We went on the bank holiday weekend so was risky as we hadn't booked and couldn't get through on the phone. It was all full inside but we were told if we could get a seat outside we could be served. There was only a couple but we got in! There is a play area for kids and it's quite cool outside with the pizza bar there, music, mostly wooden seating and a covered area. Staff were great despite being really busy, tables cleared quick etc. We ended up having a few drinks as we weren't driving and both had the fish and chips. Not my wife's favourite usually but she actually said it was the best she'd ever had! On the table next to us all 6 people had it! Then we wobbled home. All in all great all round!

Totally unimpressed. For the price I would have expected perhaps a side salad. Bland food. Not particularly good choice on the menu either. Awful to be saying on the way home ‘We’ll I wouldn’t want to go there again’ Thought the beer was expensive too at £6.50 a pint or is this the norm today.

Very limited menu. Burger & chips were 6/10. Very expensive £15 each and nothing special, only few chips. Outside area was not great as parasols didn’t provide shade. Smelt of manure in what must have been the rough looking smoking area. Toilets had damaged and dirty seat. Toilet roll was damp. Hand wash was like diluted water, no soap left! . Not good enough for the price! Should be paying attention to detail! Wouldn’t go again! Disappointing spent £63! Beer was £6.50 a pint!

Love the Lamb! Always a great choice of dishes on the menu and their risottos are particularly lush. There's a relaxed vibe whether going with the kids or meeting friends. Good service too.

Front man just rude, unaccomadating, not just rude, unhelpful, he could have said, "I'm so sorry we don't have a space, would you like a drink at the bar?" It was piddling down, and we'd made an effort to come in. Instead he just said ' No" thos was last night, 29/08 about 7pm.... rude....

We stopped here by chance, hoping that they’d accommodated us last minute on a busy bank holiday afternoon. The staff were incredibly friendly, food was great, and the ambience of the pub itself is really charming. They’re also very accommodating and friendly towards dogs, which was handy for us. Really glad we took a chance on the Lamb!

The lamb was a real beautiful place. It had the correct mixture of classic dishes and then something more a bit magical like my seafood risotto. I loved that the area for kids was equally as beautiful as the adult 'play' area. The decor was stunning. Ideal for private events. Was like a home but in a pub. I will most definitely be coming back when I can have a cocktail or two 🥳🌟🍾

Excellent small lunch in a nice garden. The best ever mackerel paté, proper sourdough bread, good service. Proper espresso! I visited during a quiet time and will return during busier times to see if my first visit impression was correct!

I am so glad I didn't read the previous reviews before going, otherwise I may have missed out on a really delicious dinner. Five of us ate and all had different mains which were all enjoyed. I had the sea bass which was an outstanding meal, really well put together dish and cooked to perfection. Stole some of Mum's chips and son's Camembert which were both really good too and a beautiful sticky toffee pudding to finish. The price was reasonable for a decent pub, nice decor and clean toilets. The service was friendly and efficient, thank you to the team for an enjoyable evening.

Me and my husband visited this place as we were for the first time in this area. The service was amazing. Alfredo who was making pizzas and his wife Jucy who helped us with the food were just a delight. The place is so good and friendly. We are going to come back again next week. Highly recommended. I

Passing by, and the Lamb was recommended. Turned up on spec mid-week, expecting a rural pub to be empty. Far from it, the dining areas were full. Fortunately they have a covered outdoor seating area that was cool and comfy on a muggy Wednesday evening. The menu looked very good and the specials were tempting too. We had two excellent meals, fresh and tasty. We'd been told that the Lamb was a good place to eat and it certainly is. Good car parking, childrens' play area, very good rural pub (probably why it was so busy).

Would not recommend at all, over priced honestly awful food. Squid and chips that tasted like it had been left in the fryer all day and £22 for a leg of dry flavourless chicken with a hand full of frozen chips. Service was friendly but very slow and once highlighting that we were really unhappy with the quality of food, simply said there was nothing that could be done. Definitely won’t be visiting again, unbelievably disappointed.

I must rate The Lamb Inn as probably the worst eating house that I have ever had the misfortune to visit. I made the mistake of ordering roast lamb from the lunch menu late in the day and it was awful. The food had obviously been sitting in fat since lunchtime so it was virtually inedible. As it was a family celebration I decided not to make a fuss but I wish that I had. My wife fared little better with a crab burger. If you value the health of your stomach, stay away from The Lamb Inn.

Lovely traditional pub close to East Wittering in the country. Really nice atmosphere and decor throughout, with a garden area at the back. We order the seafood sharing board which was delicious and had various mains including fish and chips which was great, crab burger...

Two of us had the roast unfortunately it was all cold .we sent it back .it still came back cold .which was a shame as my friend had the lamb burger she said it was very nice .

Excellent pub restaurant with a varied menu, generous servings and well cooked food. Fabulous children’s play area and dog friendly too. What more could anyone want ? We would definitely visit again and recommend the Lamb to friends in the area.

My first and last visit to this place . Table for 4 food outrageously Priced ,limited menu Wine list ok ish. Young untrained staff who answer everything with it’s not our fault . Food poor quality and tasteless served 4 meals cold . The toilet...

Booked this place after hearing good things from a friend. Must have been another Place they were thinking of. Food was vastly overpriced and hugely underwhelming. The situation with the toilets was not only weird but totally wrong and unacceptable. There was one toilet marked...

Had an amazing super food bowl and a cracking cocktail. The garden area is great on a sunny day and has a play bit for the kids.

The presentation of the food was very off putting, the food was not cleaned, the muscles were not cleaned there was seaweed hanging out from them…the waiter saw we were not happy with the food and proceeded to ask everyone how their meal was except from us. The pictures speaks for itself.

Absolutely one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. The cod with creamy mussels sauce, new potatoes, samphire and asparagus was delicious and I enjoyed every mouthful! My partner had a gourmet burger he felt the tomato was too thickly cut and wasn’t very sweet...

Sad to say this was the second time we were let done by the food, at a guess frozen then reheated, the cauliflower cheese was unbelievable the cauliflower was rock hard and frost burnt on the top, lifted the top off and was swimming in water. Plus side the beer as usual was first glass.
