The Lamb Inn Rusper in Horsham

My husband and I celebrated our 23 wedding anniversary and ordered fillet steaks served with chips, mushrooms and fried onion with a pepper corn sauce drizzled on the steaks. This was cooked with perfection and presented well . The service was professional and polite . The rioja red wine goes extremely well and sets the flavours . This gives a feeling of satisfaction and puts a smile on your face .

We went for Sunday lunch. I found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The service and food were both excellent, and we were not rushed. Lovely old pub and the online booking is so convenient.

We had a wonderful Sunday roast in the sunshine. Cooked very well & a good portion size. The serving members were polite, could have been friendlier but seemed under pressure. Overall a nice lunch.

We stopped en route and were welcomed for Sunday lunch. The service was superb, very friendly and polite. The food was amazing, compliments to the chef! We both had roast beef with beautiful roast potatoes and fabulous cauliflower cheese side. We will definitely be back soon.

Went for Sunday lunch with a friend. A lovely old style pub serving excellent food. Suggest booking in advance. Place, food, service are all 5*. Portion size was very generous. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Absolutely going again.

Excellent food. Lovely choices on the menu and friendly staff. All the food is so beautifully cooked and the sticky toffee pudding is the best I've tasted. It comes with vanilla ice cream which I swapped to ginger. Absolutely delicious. Would throughly recommend a visit. Sometimes you'll be lucky enough to see a horse and carriage in the car park and the pretty village properties as you drive through make for a lovely experience.

First visit after a long time . Found the roast very uninspiring - Yorkshire , roast potatoes and veg not hot . Beef was very tough . Now I know why I was able to make a late booking . Used to love this place - what has happened to the food quality ?

Outstanding fish and chips that we come and collect on a Friday evening. Up there with the very best we've ever had. Lovely crispy batter and not too thick.

Almost top marks. Lovely Sunday roast today as usual. All waiting staff very friendly bar one! Staff 3 certainly shouldn’t be working in the hospitality business. Not sure if she was the manager today, but if she was she needs to get some tips on social skill of the others.

There were two us for lunch and we had eaten at the Lamb a few times previously. We were really disappointed to find the menu had been changed and listed some rather odd choices. In addition we noted a hike in the prices. One example, a piece of fish priced at £26!! Desserts fair but pricey. Service was reasonable. Not a good meal we will go elsewhere next time we go out to eat.

Having eaten here we were very disappointed. The menu was very different to how it used to be and little choice for instnace, for someone who looks for fresh vegetables.. We will not return.

From start to finish we were given lovely and friendly service. We had two roast dinners Beef, pork. What can I say.. Home cooked food at its best. fresh veg, the meats was cooked perfectly Cant wait to come again

Had another takeaway meal from the Lamb Inn today, this time their Sunday roast. It was absolutely delicious! Great portion, great value and everything was packed up fabulously so that it was easy to transfer to a plate at home and all still piping hot! Seriously good roasties! Highly recommended!

Where do I start .... My partner and I have been ordering food for delivery from The Lamb Inn and every meal we have received has been amazing. The Sunday lunches are wonderfully cooked, with a big portion of food .. and with an assortment of yummy vegetables. We have been ordering the beef and the meat is always perfectly cooked. Even the gravy is lovely .. I can honestly say that the Lamb Inn provide the best Sunday Lunches I have ever had. Ben always delivers on time and talk about 'service with a smile' .. I would never consider getting my food from anywhere else. Full credit has to be given to Ben and the team for keeping things going through some difficult and challenging times. I am great believe in doing our bit to try and support local business ... Ben and the Team make it a joy to do so .. full credit to them. Fabulous food at very affordable prices ... What's not to like !

We took the elderly in-laws here for their first pub lunch out since lockdown. They were nervous and considered sitting outside - which the team were more than happy to accommodate, with the patio heaters on - but on seeing how well set up the place is, they were very happy with a table inside by the fire. The lunch was fantastic and we felt thoroughly looked after.

We hadn't been here before but decided to give it a go for a Sunday roast in a country pub.As a bonus, the kids were treated as we arrived to a group with horses and carriages and then a group of tractor enthusiasts.We were then treated to a spectacular lunch, the service was impeccable and the food was even better. Big meals that are all shown as sourced locally. You can taste the freshness and quality in every meal had by our family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It was slightly on the pricey side for a family of 5 but for the quality and portion sizes we got, we were happy to pay the bill.Will definitely be back.

Although not normally open on a Tuesday the restaurant is open during August and taking part in the "eat out" promotion. As soon as you enter you can see how the staff have taken every step to make you feel welcome and safe. My husband and I had booked for 18.30 and our table was waiting. Both meals were excellent, and lovely touches added to the experience, such as homemade Tartar sauce served in mini Kilner jars with the fish and chips. I was just disappointed that I had not left room for pudding as they all sounded delicious. I cannot wait to return.

The Lamb Inn was always a favourite pre-virusand even more so after seeing their response to Covid. As soon as you enter the pub you can really see the extent to which they have gone to to make you feel safe and comfortable. Always friendly staff, social distancing encouraged, good beer & great food! For anyone worried about going out post Covid this is definitely a comfortable place to go.

The Lamb have really made a great effort in making sure the pub is safe in the current climate, very clean, seating areas divided off with screens, hand sanitiser etc. sounds clinical but we still had a great time. My dad has alzheimers so has special needs when we take him anywhere, we explained this to the staff and they were very understanding and did all they could to make our dining experience the best. Amazing food as always will visit again soon

Visited the Lamb on the 2nd evening of re-opening. This is a pub that cares for it's customers' and staff's well-being. Staff wearing visors, hand sanitiser freely available, staff seen using sanitiser and cleaning tables. A lot of thought given to social distancing for the tables and bar area. Delicious roast beef, very tender. A return visit is already planned.

We often stay at the nearby Hills Barn overnight for Gatwick and dine at The Lamb in the evening. We have always enjoyed our dinners!

Friendly staff but the pub is really tired, the food was poor and unfortunately there was a very loud group of people close to us, not using the best language. As a group of six, we all found our meals really lacked flavour and to be pretty poor. There wasn’t a lot of choice and only a few specials on the board which was surprising for a Saturday night. We didn’t bother with dessert as we were all so disappointed by our main courses. Unfortunately we wouldn’t return or recommend.

This is my favorite place, from the food to drinks to staff, never disappointing. The food is great, tasty and quality so good. The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy. You can enjoy the garden space outside as well. Always clean. We had our wedding dinner there for 50 people there as well. Everyone loved it.Good value for good food

I have only one complaint about this fantastic pub/restaurant- I can't take it home with me!!The food is brilliant ,the staff are great and the fellow guests are good!.I have never in the all the time I have eaten here had anything other than great food .I have never reviewed the Lamb before because I didsn't want to share it!!!!!!!!!!! but feel I cannot keep quiet any longer. Thank you over 10 years of lovely food and company ,long may you continue.

We visited this pub for a Sunday roast between girl friends. Fantastic pub with a real homely feel. The food was top quality and they were more than happy to help one of our party who is celiac and strictly gluten free. Fantastic food and good prices, we will be returning thank you!

Just come back from having an amazing meal at the lamb Inn. Food was excellent seabass with Lister sauce and a homemade lamb burger. Great atmosphere with the fire buying in the back ground. Highly recommend for a meal!

Went here on a recommendation from a friend and goodness me I was not disappointed. It’s such a cosy little place and the staff are very friendly too. The menu has plenty to choose from (although it is a little difficult to read and understand) and when it came out I was happy to say it was worth the money. The seafood platter was a very good size and all the parts were very tasty indeed. We both had the hunters chicken for a main and that was super tasty too. Highly recommended and a good selection of beers too. Will definitely go again.

Another lovely meal! We visited a while back on a Sunday and we were a little disappointed with the quality of the food considering all of the delicious meals we have had in the past. tonight it was absolutely delicious and completely redeemed! The staff as ever were friendly and welcoming and didn’t mind we hadn’t booked even on a Saturday! Their willingness to accommodate left me feeling so grateful and wondering when our next visit will be! We both chose options from the specials board and you can tell the quality of the food is great! Thank you for another lovely meal!

Called in here on the way to Bognor for a weekend away. Lovely friendly greeting, very welcoming atmosphere and lovely food. There is a lunchtime special menu which was great value. Would certainly visit again if in the area.

The beef provided for Sunday lunch was, to me, inedible though younger family members managed. I finished up like Mr Bean hiding it under potatoes and Yorker pud .

Family Sunday lunch, 3 generations, plentiful veg and meat on the roasts, friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful puds! The roast beef was rare but still a little tough. We would happily return and enjoy another meal in this cosy village pub!

Lunch with a friend here and me being gluten intolerant I had the fish, chips and mushy peas with the fish grilled - the fish tasted a bit on the 'strong' side for my liking. The space is pleasant, the staff obliging but the prices are above those of similar establishments round about.

For a place out the way, outdoor space and plenty of parking this place is great and haven’t even started on the food. Great options through out menu. But Sunday’s is the roast day. Which was excellent and large portions staff very helpful and food was a joy. Will be revisiting.

I visited the Lamb Inn with a group of girlfriends for Sunday lunch following a suggestion from one of my friends who had previously been a while ago. Nice setting in the pretty village of Rusper tucked away at the end of a country lane. We were originally booked to sit inside but the weather was warm and sunny and there was plenty of space in the outside seating area so were able to move and eat out there.

With good beer, an array of gins, quality food, decent kids’ menu and traditional country pub feel, The Lamb ticks most boxes.

We came here for a comedy night which included fish and chips. The pub is a traditional style country pub, with lovely décor. The fish and chips was tasty with light batter and crispy chips. The comedy was run by comedy beats, and although outside (cold!) , the pub provided blankets and the acts were funny.

We feel very lucky to have this as our local pub. It's so refreshing to find a pub with character and history along with delicious, seasonal, locally sourced food.

I have been here on several occasions with friends and family. Staff are friendly and helpful always eager to please. A superb place to have lunch or dinner. Never fails the food is amazing.

Had Sunday dinner with family, lovely pub. The food was great as well as the service. The only small thing was we were sat near the outside door and staff kept on leaving the door open when serving the tables outside and cold draft came in so either one of us or one of the other guests had to jump up and close the door. A very small niggle to anotherwise great evening. Definitely will return.

I stopped at Lamb Inn for Lunch I was Walking in the local area looking for Pubs for Ramblers to use for a Lunch stop . The Ploughmans Lunch I had was very Good and there was good beer on tap . For a Monday lunch time it was very busy . I will be back

We were staying locally in Rusper and were looking for some place to eat. After reviewing several of the local establishment's we decided on The Lamb Inn. We are glad we did. The food was great as was the service. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. It is just outside Rusper, but easy to get to. We would definitely go again if we were in the area.

This is a friendly pub with a welcoming atmosphere. It won't win awards for fine pub dining but the food choice is wide and the quality competant. There are some good wines by the glass. Service is good

We chose the set lunch menu three courses which was very good value. Loved the mushrooms on toast for starters followed by steak and then finished off with home made meringue with strawberries and cream, coffee afterwards. Very good would recommend for lunch lovely olde worlde pub in a rural setting

Arrived on a busy Saturday evening for a belated Christmas bash delayed due to health issues last Deember.

Always a pleasure to eat here tonight the chicken pie was best we have had needs to be added to the menu .lovely roast dinners best around Sussex.

Having struggled to find anywhere we could book at short notice we came across The Lamb and managed to get a table. When we arrived we found a pleasant environment and friendly service from the staff so ordered the Sunday lunch where two of us had the beef and one the pork. When the food arrived it was a great portion size and really tasty so all in all I would thoroughly recommend this place for a great Sunday lunch and like to add good value too.

Really good meal at a really nice pub. Reasonably priced and thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn’t get the full 5 stars as both myself and my wife felt that the time to receive the meal from ordering was a just a little too long (table was booked for 2pm - so after the main lunch rush).However, that’s just a minor criticism from what was a lovely Sunday lunch out with the family at a lovely country pub.

We hired the garden area for a private event. Ben and Sophie we superb. The service was amazing and the wood fire pizzas were delicious. Highly recommended!

Popped in for supper based on reviews and we were disappointed. Character pub with a decent menu. I had the hummus which was very generous and my husband had the baked box Camembert which came with lots of crudites and a generous helping of crusty bread. All delicious. I finished with the sticky toffee pudding which again was very generous as well as light and tasty. Looking forward to trying the woodfired pizzas next time.

We were there for the Comedy Beats stand up night. We had fish and chips with mushy peas (inc. in the price of the comedy ticket); great fish and chips, not sure about minted mushy peas though. Staff were very friendly and the beer was well kept. The stand up was excellent.

We came here with friends/family and were pleasantly surprised. A lovely pub with a great atmosphere. The food was phenomenal. I ordered a lamb burger, which is great alone as you can hardly get that in most places. The meringue dessert was delicious and the service was also impeccable. Thanks guys for a lovely evening. Will definitely return!

A smashing lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday . Paula had a steak and ale pie self had a ham and cheese ploughmans just the meal for a summer's day. food and service was excellent. Booked for a summer dinner with my golfing mates and spouses next month

The food is so much more than pub food but you still feel like you are at a pub. Best of both! I have eaten a variety of dishes here and never been disappointed. For those with food allergies they have a big book to help you with your selections.

Lovely atmosphere in this rural country pub which is obviously frequented by locals. Their USP seems to be takeaway fish and chips on a Friday night. Our meals took a while to come but well worth the wait, piping hot and plentiful. Staff were helpful and pleasant. It was a very enjoyable experience.

hi called in last evening ,well so pleased we did as soon as l called in to ask if they are wheelchair friendly the young lady was great showed me where my son could seat in his wheelchair and the table was good for me and his dad .Well they was a good menu but the son and dad had the mussels ,bread,or frites l went for hunters chicken well and of it was just excellent and the service was just so good we will be going back hopefully very soon.

We went to the Lamb Inn for lunch around 1.30 on a Saturday. We choose the vegan filo pastry with salad and chick pea chips from the specials menu. It was delicious, an ample portion and very well presented. They serve several excellent ales, the Fullers HSB was perfect.The staff were lovely, very helpful and attentive. Overall a great experience.

I was lucky enough to arrive at the Lamb Inn five minutes before closing time, so I was just able to order a drink and have a look around. The pub interior is quaint and dimly lit, with plenty of black beams, and the ceilings between the beams have a rustic paint finish. The pub is mainly stone-flagged and there are shallow stone steps in places. Although clearly not of great age, the pub does feel like a survival of another era, surprisingly unspoilt. Looking out through the window, you see a window box outside with purple violas, which looks very pretty.

we had a family Birthday celebration and from the moment of booking the service we received was excellent, the food was all home cooked and plentiful. the staff were very attentive but not in your face. would definitely recommend.

Came as a couple for our Sunday roast, we booked online a few days before after reading some great reviews. Now we have to add another great review. My wife and I were in the vicinity and thought we’d renew our acquaintance with the pub for a quick evening meal. The table still had previous customers glasses on it and was wet-stained with beer. Chose the ham, egg and chips from the menu and you can’t really go wrong with cooking egg and chips. The ham however was awful; best description is that it looked ‘old’. Disappointing!

Beautiful historic country pub, quiet village setting although near enough to Gatwick for an evening meal before our flight. Food was excellent and nicely presented. Very friendly service. Brilliant overall experience, would absolutely recommend!

We visited for a milestone birthday as a party of 12. The pub is in a small village and very pretty and old. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the only negative was the long wait before the food was brought out to us, but no complaints with the quality.

We were a large table, 15, but in 2 hours we only got one of our 2 course meal, which was a shame as it was very nice meal. We felt a little ignored, yes it was Easter Sunday and very busy but we had booked and paid a deposit so it wasn’t that we turned up unexpectedly.

Went here on Saturday for a family meal and had a great time. We were a party of 6 and the feedback on our food was 100% from everyone. I had the lamb rump from the specials board and it was absolutely delicious - the blackberry jus was fabulous and not all sweet and gooey and the lamb tender and pink. The steak and Ale pie was well filled and huge. I would highly recommend (and from previous reviews you will see I'm fussy!).

Enjoyed a birthday dinner with friends and family. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Two of us selected haddock with a melted cheese topping which was absolutely gorgeous and the other two chose a beautifully tender venison pie. A nice choice of desserts finished off a truly excellent evening!

Just had a fantastic lunch at The Lamb Inn.

We booked for 4.30pm but arrived early and despite them being really busy, they found us a table. Ordered the beef roast and it was gorgeous. Asked for extra gravy and that was no problem. Staff were really nice and helpful and service was quick. Reasonable prices for the portion size with an option for more courses if desired. They do muscles and fries Tuesday's and fish and chips to eat in or take away on Friday. Cute country pub with enough on the menu to please all. Will return. Often.

Booked a table for 4, three weeks in advance for a mothers day lunch. Had to pay a £40 deposit to make the booking! The table was booked for 2pm. Arrived a few minutes early to be told that our table wasn't ready yet. The bar/restaurant are was packed, we have eaten here on previous occasions and it was apparent that they had wedged in additional tables despite not having the space. A large number of people were waiting in the bar area as their tables were also not ready and more people were coming in all the time. It soon became clear that they had tried to book in too many groups and didn't have the staff to handle it. Two of our family members had come down from London for the meal and as they had to get a train home we couldn't afford to wait long. When asked how long it would be we were informed it would be at least another 30 minutes. It was apparent the staff were over worked and under a lot of pressure due to the place being over booked but their lack of interest in the problem appeared rude and disinterested. As an excuse they tried to claim the table had been booked for 2.30, despite the fact that when I had booked I had tried to book for 1pm but had been informed the only sittings were 12pm 2pm or 4pm and had therefore chosen the 2pm sitting. It would have been nice to have been offered an apology instead of lies and weak excuses.

We went for a family meal last night. The food was great, as many places are but the staff were outstanding. They seemed genuinely enthusiastic. They all really stood out as really helpful and enjoying what they were doing. I would be absolutely delighted if they worked for me and gave my customers that level of service. The Lamb sits in a quiet country setting between Crawley and Horsham. The pub is a typical country pub with lovely food and a great choice off beers wines and spirits.
