Came to The Lamb for New Years Eve, what an evening! Food was great, atmosphere was amazing and staff were a pleasure! The barmaid Keziah made the evening for us with her wit, charm and beautiful smile! Thanks Elaine and the Team 🙃

Standard fare of simple pub food. Honest beer selection and friendly staff. Charming waitress who was lovely. Kind and considerate. Nothing too much bother. Possibly needs a spruce up with it looking slightly tired compared to years ago. I remember a lovely Christmas lunch there that was fabulous. Would probably return.

Service good. Roast beef was good but not a lot of it. Reasonable price for Sunday lunch. No real ale alternative Caffreys which did not have much taste.

In my review of Aug 4 ('Kitchen closes very early') I indicated my disappointment that the kitchen closes at 8pm on Sunday, which seemed disappointingly early for a summer's evening. In response I received a threatening personal message, and a public reply which criticises me on numerous counts. To reiterate:

Traditional pub in a delightful setting. Although extensively modernised it still manages to retain some of the olde worlde atmosphere. The pictures of the pub and the village in bygone times around the bar is a nice touch. Friendly welcome from the staff and beer was fine. Would certainly return here, thanks for your hospitality.

This was an aweful meal, the beef was overlooked , the fish was under cooked/raw and was returned. The staff were not attentive, and barely apologetic for such poor performance.

How this place gets so many good reviews is beyond me. This is our third visit and each time it’s been less than satisfactory.

We went here a few years ago and it was a lovely country village pub which served home cooked pub food, this time the pub is obviously run by a manager and has been changed to a fine dining establishment, The starters came on huge plates with a small indent for the food which looked and tasted pretty average, the main courses faired no better, tiny portions the sea bass was not fresh and tasteless, the lamb shoulder again was a tiny portion and not very nice, as were the pork and burger. and as for the extra seasonal vegetables, I don't class sugar snap peas and baby sweatcorn as seasonal, The dessert were equaly as disappointing again tiny portions and all obviously bought in, We didn't like children sitting at the bar area or dogs in the resturant while we are having lunch. If you are not hungry and want to pay well over the top for pretentious bistro food then go here. we will not be back

This is our local, and we are lucky to have it.We had a 3 course meal for 3, and the flavours were great, as well as the wine. The staff were friendly, and although there were no Christmas crackers laid out for diners, the clearly could see that our son who is 10, would appreciate this, so they brought some out (a nice touch)I know less is more, but just from a personal view, perhaps in the future the portions may be made slightly larger, as we ended up bulking up our mains with a side order of vegetables. On the later note and just for chef feedback and improvement, the carrots were soggy and over cooked, but the rest were fine.We finished with coffee lattes, but were slightly disappointed that there no treat or biscotti with it. A simple thing to include and would have rounded everything off perfectly.Lastly, the staff were very busy working hard that night, and due to this we were given someone else's bill of around £36, which clearly was no where near the £120 plus we were expecting. We heard someone say they would pay the first bill and go. This is not our style or the right thing to do. We live in the village and believe in supporting local businesses and their staff. Keep up the good work, don't slack and keep reviewing and acting on some of the feedback.

Visited several times, mostly just for drinks. However the one occasion I ate there, the Sunday roast was extremely poor to say the least. Its nice to sit outside with a drink on a sunny day but beyond that it's sothing particularly special.

Staff seem rather cold and only interested in taking your money. Expensive drinks for the area. Food is good and well presented, but with a bit of an air of pretentiousness.

This place is quite nice, food and drink good although quite expensive. Probably the most expensive in the area. The one real negative is how obnoxious the owner is. Speaking to grown couples like children. We asked for additional chairs outside which the staff gave us. Only for the owner to come out shouting and balling within minutes at us. This is one place I will never return to.

If you want a classy night out, don't go to the pub! The food is fatty, orange and very ordinary...food served on the sizzling metal "plate" keeps cooking for a few minutes...so a medium steak becomes well done before you know it! The steaks are cheap cuts, grissly and small. Its good for burgers...

Extremely rude bar staff young arrogant and obnoxious. Couldn't stand by the bar to wait for a table because my girlfriend didn't have 'valid' ID even though she drove there, has tattoos on show and clearly doesn't look under 25. Waited over an hour for a table.

Came here with a small group of friends in November on a cold rainy day. The first thing we noticed was the temperature, I would suggest putting the heating on slightly earlier in the day as when we arrived, the radiators were cold to touch. We did ask for the heating to be turned up but we would have finished our meal by the time the building had warmed up. Our order was taken and meals came out about half an hour later, from the price of the meals I expected to get quite a large portion however that wasn't the case, the food had some flavour but not what I'd expect for the amount charged. When the plates were cleared, we weren't offered desserts or coffees so after waiting 15 minutes or so, one of us had to go up to the bar area to ask for the bill. As we left, no one thanked us, as you'd usually expect in a restaurant.

The poor old Lamb at Angmering is yet another victim of the conspiracy of progress in the English hospitality industry. It all started with the napiery and linen. Remember when restaurants had napkins and starched linen tablecloths? How beautiful they looked. Then the trade decided they could save a lot of money if they eliminated these items and called the result 'clean', 'modern', 'bright', 'trendy' and all the other bunkum adjectives used by English restaurateurs and hoteliers. Then the carpets went, the hard chairs followed soon after, and all over the country these wonderful old coaching inns started to resemble airport lounges. Olga Polizzi (aka Tracy Travelodge) is one of the chief culprits. She would turn Chatsworth House into a Holiday Inn, given the opportunity. If you want to know what the Lamb used to look like, go to the website of Rules Restaurant in Covent Garde and feast your eyes on the images. Now that's a dining-room! Having said that, the Lamb's food is excellent. I just don't want to eat in an operating theatre.

Parter and i had something called a "trash can challenge" to share (already sounds bad i know) but this is a mixture of a few dishes as we didn't know what to have. The chips were fine. The burger tasteless. Tasted dry like it had been cooked hours before and sat. The chili con carne was fridge cold... I'm so glad we were not ill after trying a massive fork full before we realised. the rest dry and overcooked. All tasted out of a packet

We ended up here for lunch by accident, not the usual sort of food we go for but my chicken kebab was a generous size and not overcooked - it came hanging theatrically on a metal stand with chips, salad and tortillas, and 2 sauces. My other half was happy with his burger, and with a glass of wine and a pint of lager it all came in at under £24. It's a spacious pub, and the staff were efficient and polite, will return if ever I find myself in Rustington again.

Pleasantly surprised by the lamb. Good quality food, I had the mushroom tagliatelle which was fab, friends burger and chips was also highly rated/nicely presented. We ate in the bar which was very nice indeed. Packed on Saturday lunchtime but the restaurant on the left as you go in looked nice too. Will return. Aspells ciders was great too.

We have frequented this public house on four occasions and have always had excellent service accompanied with good quality food, but what ever you do try not to use the bar as it is not for the faint hearted. We did not use the restaurant today but decided to go and have a quite drinks with friends, this is defiantly not the place for the quite country drink, there was a particular group of three people drinking today who were very loud and the language from one particular female was disgusting I think she worked at the bar as she was often behind the bar harassing the young barman. As this was not enough the same young lady decided to take pleasure in asking for photos with my husband we were very embarrassed by the whole affair even though the group of people she was with thought this was amusing. At this point we decided to leave to save further embarrassment for all concerned, we also found ourselves needing to apologise to our friends as they were quite shocked by the whole event,to this end it an an absolute shame the same standards are not adhered in the bar area as we have experienced within the restaurant. We will not be visiting this establishment again.
