We were there for lunch but because we had a dog with us we weren't allowed to sit in the main dining area which was a pity. We ate instead in the Fishery. It doesn't have the same atmosphere and the decor there is basic but the menu and the view are the same. We received a warm welcome and had a tasty lunch followed by a walk in the grounds with the dog. I am sure we will return to eat there.

Read reviews prior to visiting this establishment. Various complaints about poor service with which I would agree. Our booking was for 1pm and we were not ready to leave until approx. 3.30. To be fair this suited us as we were a family party of 11 and this was an enjoyable occasional meet. We were offered drinks to start, then wait of approx. 20/30 mins. between each course; 2nd round of drinks offered at some point. Fine so long as you did not have somewhere else you were supposed to be. Food OK, I had prawn cocktail not a lot of taste & some brown bread would have been nice, this was followed by roast beef which for me was insufficiently cooked and vegetables a bit sparse. I did not have a dessert, but the ones I saw looked very acceptable, but no one in the party raving about the food. I noted having looked at previous poor reviews that there was a reply from a member of staff after each one saying something along the lines of "so sorry you were not happy with our food/service", but not really sounding as if they cared. Other reviewers mentioning there are many other places close by which are better value and preferable.

Enjoyed a nice wee walk out to lairds table from kilmarnock. My partner and i Had the full breakfast each, a pot of tea and 2 pieces of cake. Food was great and the, cracking scenery and lovely staff. I would argue it was slightly over priced and the only reason i’m giving this a 4 star review instead of a 5. Can see us returning for dinner soon.

I recently visited the Lairds table after it being recommended from a friend and it didn’t disappoint the food was very tasty and not overly priced. With gift vouchers to spend, we decided to pop into the Laird’s Table for lunch. So glad we did as it was good before but even better now! The reason is the addition of the ‘Dream Team’ of Chef Gareth Furey and Manager Fiona Rogers formerly of The Jefferson restaurant and their impact already shows. Our lunch was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were bright, attentive and friendly. Add to this the ambiance of the setting as you look out on the tranquil waters that edge the restaurant it was good for tho soul as well as our tummies. I love the live wood and epoxy resin tables and each has personal artefacts from the Craufurd’s family history - lovely wee touches and attention to detail that really appeals to me. Eco-friendly from the start of its build, the Craufurd’s run this restaurant with the environment in mind. Highly recommend this family-run hidden gem - Congratulations Simon and Adity - see you again soon.

So, last week we called in for Sunday dinner and it was fantastic, beautifully slow cooked roast beef, amazing starters with locally sourced brilliant quality produce and the loveliest staff ever. Please ignore the weirdos that are leaving negative reviews and give it a go. My friend's roast chicken was half a chicken breast cut into 2 with only 3 very small roast potatoes and what must have been the tiniest carrots I've ever seen. Having visited this restaurant tonight to say I was disappointed with the experience is an understatement. The waiting staff provided little in the way of service and appear disinterested in providing any. As we booked for 6 O’clock we expected to be given early evening menu in addition to a la carte but there started the downward spiral, had to ask for same, informed soup was celeriac and bacon when it was served was tomato which was too highly salted, returned after taking ages to catch waiting staff’s eye, it then took 10 mins discussion between staff to decide what was to be done appears kitchen had not communicated change of soup to waiting staff and as fellow dinners had practically finished their starter did not bother having replacement. Main courses were at best mediocre , took at least 25 mins to clear table. Was about to order coffee and asked why the inconsistency in pricing of coffee - expresso £3, Americano £1.95, latte £3.00. Was informed that if I wanted milk with my Americano it would be £1.05 more rationale offered was a charge for energy to heat milk up. I am unclear if I would be charge same for cold milk but was assured there would be no charge for milk if I had tea, confused you will be - so decided not to bother. On asking for the bill I was charged for an extra 2 course early special when staff member was told this appeared ambivalent to this mistake and was amazed that service supplied was not up to standard you would expect when informed of same .Time for a serious investment in customer service I think. To sum it up thank you Laird’s Table for ruining my evening off which are few and far between.

Had been here for lunch a couple of times post dog-walking in the woods and enjoyed it so decided to visit and try it for dinner. Have to say the setting is just stunning, nestled right next to the water and surrounded by the most gorgeous woodland. So it was off to a good start before a fork was even lifted. The internal decor is also quite special - the history of the estate is represented throughout with tables made from old trees from the estate, old uniforms on display and so on. Can’t help thinking it doesn’t quite look finished inside (due to the chip board walls) but I love it none the less. Lovely modern Scottish vibe mixed with a charming history. And then there is the food! Oh my Lord!! Fresh and tasty and prepared to perfection! I had the ballochmyle Brie and hubby had the crawfurdland wellington - both were delicious. And nice size portions - big enough that you knew you’d had a starter but not so big you were not ready for main course. We both picked the burger - although choice wasn’t easy as there were loads of tasty looking options - and it was superb. I’m not big on burgers as a rule but this was the finest beef and nicely teamed with a brioche bun which was a bit different. A little melted cheese and a tangy, very different ‘slaw - not the usual ‘drowned in mayo’ affair. It comes highly recommended and the fries were perfect - crisp and tasty! Will definitely be returning here and bringing our friends along - too nice a place to keep to ourselves! Well worth the trip and actually only 10 mins out of town - go on, you won’t regret it.

I have visited the Lairds Table regularly since it opened and it really is becoming my favourite restaurant. I had lunch on Saturday 6th July with my sister and enjoyed a delicious grilled fillet of lemon sole with tiger prawns. The sole was expertly cooked, light and full of flavour. My sister very much enjoyed fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce. A simple dish but the quality of the ingredients used are what makes it a special dish. I enjoyed a lovely glass to cava with my meal and finished off with some of the best coffee i have tasted anywhere. Admittedly it is more expensive than some places but the quality speaks for itself. The other thing which sets the Lairds Table apart from other restaurants is the service, which is exemplary from start to finish. Staff are polite and courteous at all times but more importantly smile and appear both knowledgeable in what they are serving and also interested in ensuring a great customer experience to everyone who walks through the door. So, off we went, booked a table as my birthday was coming up and decided we would have the Chateaubriand. Well, we both agreed that this was the best steak we'd ever eaten, just gorgeous. The meat was very well seasoned (my grumble about ordering steak in restaurants is often lack of seasoning so this was such a welcome detail) and beautifully cooked. The sides were all delicious... chunky chips, salad, grilled tomato, grilled mushroom and fabulous truffle mac cheese... we loved it all. I visited on Sunday 2nd June along with 4 others as a treat for my sister's 50th birthday, and I'm afraid that, despite the great service from very friendly staff and lovely table next to the window, the meal was very poor indeed. Firstly, the "Laird's Table take on marie rose sauce" was just tastless, over salty dressing, and even my 12 year old nephew commented on it. I like my veg al dente but the vegetables that came with the roast beef and chicken dishes were not cooked at all , and the yorkshire puddings were burnt beyond being crispy. We did not complain because my sister enjoyed her meal and we didn't want to make a fuss at the time, plus the puddings were excellent. On my previous visit I had a lovely lunch which was marred by a dry, and hard scone which was inedible and had to be handed back. I have rarely felt strongly enough to post a review of any kind, but this was such a disappointment after hearing rave reviews. I just hope it was due to pressure in the kitchen because it was busy, or perhaps an inexperienced cook on that day. I won't be rushing back, which is a shame as it has so much potential.

Lovely local restaurant situated in a private estate with a beautiful view over the fishing reservoir. I've eaten lunch here several times since it opened and always find the staff friendly and welcoming and provide good service. The food is made from locally sourced products and though not the widest selection on the menu there is enough choice to satisfy most tastes. Fresh selection of cakes is also available and if your too full from your lunch/dinner to eat them you can always take them away. As a new business I am sure this restaurant will continue to develop it's menu and choices. There is a small outside seating area where on a nice day you could sit with your dogs as there are some nice walks through the estate or back to Kilmarnock and Fenwick. Shame there is no dedicated covered area for the dogs for less pleasant days given the setting is ideal for a stop off on a nice dog walk. It is not the cheapest option in the area but the food is good quality.

What a fabulous location for a restaurant, matched by intriguing, fascinating curios etc. from the castle dotted around the walls and excellent cooking using (very) local ingredients

After a disappointing first visit we tried a second time as we so much wanted to enjoy and praise this local restaurant. Beautiful location and friendly, efficient waiting staff. Usual, hearty fare although a bit predictable. On both visits we found the potato wedges / chips were tasteless and would suggest a different type of potato be tried. And why the fancy micro salad ? Surely with fish and chips garden or mushy peas would be more appropriate. That said the haddock was delicious.

First time at this restaurant with family today. Front of house service was excellent and catered for our toddler brilliantly. Everyone enjoyed their 3 course meal, food is of high standard, delicious. The restaurant is spacious and nicely furnished with a lovely view over the water. Environmentally friendly which is great. I am quite shocked to read some reviews stating that this restaurant serves bland food!! Seriously what a load of nonsense. Took my mum here today. Lovely restaurant, relaxed atmosphere and fabulous food for a good price. Thank you Lairds table for a lovely mother’s day out for my mum. She really enjoyed her meal. We will be back!!!

Not a very good system for booking tables. Even though the restaurant was empty, we were told we couldn't have a window seat so as to admire the view. Instead we had to sit near the door and it was drafty.

Had breakfast, lunch, dinner and Christmas dinner here. Have also had many morning coffee’s and scones. A beautiful, calming and rustic space which serves wonderful meals. Friendly helpful staff. My favourite place in all weather. Great outlook over the loch watching fishermen often casting flies trying to catch the elusive trout. What’s not to like about this place.

Called in for breakfast after a marvellous overnight stay at Craufurdland Castle. The Laird's Table is a purpose built log cabin style restaurant hunkered down in woodland off the castle track next to a fishing lake, making views inside stunning. We were welcomed warmly by the eaterie's resident laird, Simon who wasted no time in seating us by the panoramic windows & offering a menu. It took me a while to read it though, as I was too busy checking out the quirky decor. Artefacts, memorabilia & period costumes apparently from the castle have been housed in glass or resin & tastefully displayed on walls, in tables, and around the sevice counter. Fabulous talking points & a privilege to see such homage paid to the estate's 800 year history.

I visited today with a friend. We had not booked but were seated after a short wait. We had been warned our table would be required again at 2:45 which gave us nearly 2 hours to eat - ample time I thought but how wrong I was! The service was terribly slow, a huge length of time was waited both for our orders to be taken and for each of our 2 courses to arrive. I understand the food is cooked fresh but the wait was pretty extreme even so. The food was lovely, I feel the veg portions to be small and my friend felt her beef was quite tough and meagre portioned. We had our empty plates lifted at 2:30 and opted not to order dessert as we knew there was a booking for our table and we had little hope of speedy service. The staff were lovely, the decor is fab and the view is gorgeous. I really hope this cafe improves their speed of service as it badly lets what is other a great place.

Our first and definitely not our last visit to this restaurant. Beautiful surroundings, a hint of local history to tease you and if you want to know knowledgeable team who will talk you through the history. We were most interested in the heritage of the beautiful tables ( all from one fallen tree on the estate )and filled with bits of family history to discover, and then there was the food ... simply fantastic.

Went to a family birthday dinner which was well organised and involved some tasty and good-looking food, nice wine, all served promptly and efficiently in a lovely, lakeside setting. The manager, Susan, looked after us all and worked hard, well done. We also had the pleasure of meeting Marguerite who collected six of us from our nearby hotel. We're looking forward to going back asap!

Went here on the recommendation of my mum and it was a very nice place with nice food one big problem though SERVICE! We were taken promptly to our seats and were told about the specials that day and asked what we would like to drink! All good so far the food came we both had The Pulled Beef Open Sandwich and I also had the potato and leek soup all superb! This is where the problem starts when ordering my order I told the girl lynn my wife was going to have a sweet instead of a starter but when we finished it took ages for our plates to be cleared and Lynn went to the toilet and told me not to bother with the sweet! But just as she left our plates were taken away and I asked for the sweet menu which I got and Lynn wanted lemon meringue pie with ice cream but the young girl was behind the counter and we waited about 7 minutes before giving up and paying the bill and leaving and not leaving a tip not usual for us!The Lady with the grey jumper that showed us to our seats was busy talking to a customer for ages!We liked the place and the food but like a lot of places recently and being a chef myself I felt they were under staffed and the youngsters were possibly not trained up enough yet! We will return but not for a while great place great venue great food but we felt let down by the service sorry folks hope you can take our problem onboard and learn from it thanks for the good food!

I gave the Laird's Table a 5 star review for Christmas Day but Sunday brunch was a bit less impressive. The £8.95 full grill was quite small compared to similar places in our orbit, with tea and toast extra. £1 for only one slice. I had French Toast with bacon and blueberry maple syrup which was delicious, but again at the price not very good value. We both left still hungry, where a Sunday breakfast/brunch usually keeps us happy until dinner. I would go back again for lunch or dinner but not breakfast.

A number of us have been to this restaurant in the past without fault. This visit however was far from what we expected. We were surprised to see that we were the only people in the restaurant!!We pre-booked our dinner for 14 adults and 4 children, due to the numbers we had to pre-order our food which we done.Starters - overall the starters were good, there was no whisky sauce on the stornaway starter, instead it was hollandaise but this was fine also. The Haggis should have been cooked more as was pale in colour.Main Courses - Fish and Chips, came 20 mins after other main courses and was under-cooked (pale) soggy and the fish enclosed in the batter was small. The Chicken Crepes were overall good however 2 were 20 mins later and 1 had to be returned. Portion size on chips were poor.Desserts - Strawberry Cheesecake was in fact on arrival Oreo Cheesecake and was served. The Apple Crumble, there was no apples and was replaced by pear but the crumble was a poor take on a crumble - one was cancelled after being advised of the change but we still got the 2 ordered. The After eight ice-cream sundae was mostly cream with an after eight on top, very poor. When we mentioned to the owner after the meal, that we were not satisfied with a number of things the only thing mentioned was that we had cancelled the fish - which we had however there was 2 people eating fish. They did take 10% off our total bill and forgot to take off the deposit that was taken at the time of booking. All in all it was not worth the £23 2 course £28 3 course price tag. We were all left really disappointed and can honestly say that we wont be back. We felt really bad for the waitress, she was left to deal with all of us and the confusion from us about where our main courses were, it was a farce. Not sure if this is under new ownership however this was not what we expected.
