The Kitchen by Marco in Bexley

My wife and I were in Sidcup and were in need of a spot of lunch. We spotted 'The Kitchen' and decided to give it a go...So glad we did! I had the Minute Steak, in Ciabatta and my wife had the Smashed Avacado/Poached Eggs. Portion size and quality of food was fantastic. The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. The owner, (Hakan?) Is passionate about his business and it really shows. He's also a really nice guy and happy to chat. We will definitely be visiting again, but maybe we'll go when he has one of his live entertainers performing, if we can get a table for what will definitely be a busy night. Can't wait to go back and I will definitely order a slice of the home-made Cheesecake!

We booked The Kitchen because we saw a local singer was performing one Saturday evening. Great food, attentive service which made us feel very welcome. Good atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. Will visit again.

The food here is so fresh. Can’t wait to have another sit down lunch in here. Also, looking forward to another themed night.

Today was the first day they offered takeaway pizza. They were freshly baked and very tasty. Nice pizza base. Highly recommended. Friendly service as always.

My son Louis spotted this charming place as we drove through Sidcup high street. What a find! Harkan, the owner and his team are warm and welcoming All Covid precautions are in place without being obtrusive and everything is spotlessly clean.The menu is extensive and the food is superb-freshly cooked using quality ingredients. I love fish and the sea bass was fresh and cooked beautifully.My son, a teenager, can be fussy with his food. But he devoured a plate of spaghetti carbonara followed by an enormous slice of home made chocolate cake. I indulged in the tiramisu which was light and creamy.The background music added to the Mediterranean ambience of the Kitchen and Katie, who waited on us, was friendly & helpful ( the chat about Doreen Bird College made my day!) The cherry on the cake, quite literally, was the piece of cake Harken kindly gave to my son to take away. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal and a fabulous time. My son, who is autistic and struggles with social interaction, came away saying he felt welcomed and like part of the family, as did I. Sadly we don’t live nearby otherwise we would be visiting regularly but we will definitely return when we are in Sidcup again. I thoroughly recommend the Kitchen and hope their business flourishes.

Went for Sunday lunch and the owner and staff were very charming and chatty. I had garlic mushrooms and they were nice and tender with a little bite. The owner advised me after I had chosen the beef lasagne it would be the best I had ever tasted. I advised him that was a massive statement to make but I awaited with much anticipation. Sadly it wasn’t the best I’ve ever eaten; I would have preferred more more layers and more meat with less tomato sauce as the pasta was literally drowning in it, although the sauce was very tasty. So service wise very kind and attentive and I found their food to be good. My family enjoyed their roast dinners. In terms of pricing it was very reasonable for a two course meal. 3.5/5

Had lunch here today with two friends as part of eat out to help out deal. We were all very impressed with the food and service. Has a really pleasant relaxed ambiance. Enjoyed it so much went back later for excellent iced coffee and ice cream, just what was needed on one forget hottest days of the year! Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Enjoyed a very tasty lunch here (caesar salad ). There was alot of nice options on the menu , took me a while to pick .Friendly,efficient staff .Fresh ,clean decor and delicious food .We all enjoyed the food and will definitely be back soon.

We always visit the Kitchen when we are in Sidcup. The customer service is always great and the food is too, and always reasonably priced. We bring my father from the local Bupa Nursing home and he is always treated with kindness and dignity when we come to the Kitchen.We really recommend it as a local and independent place to eat!

Stumbled on this little restaurant by chance when looking for Costa and popped in for a hot drink. 30 minutes later having had a pot of tea, a slice of homemade cheesecake and taken away a piece of homemade bread pudding; I was so pleased I didn’t end up where I was planning to go. I sat in a comfy tub chair in the window watching the world go by whilst reading my book. The place was clean, welcoming, not too loud and just the right level of attentiveness without being in ‘your face’I’ll definitely return as the food around me not only looked gourmet but smelt delicious. I was quite annoyed that I’d had lunch already at home!

Have eaten at this place a few times both breakfasts, snacks and dinners and each time the food was fresh, delicious and prompt. The staff are friendly and the owner is a character, full of smiles and laughter. Also attended a recent music night with a live singer present with a set menu and it was fab. Can’t wait for the next one. Oh and the facilities are clean. I have a thing for restaurants with poor toilet hygiene but this was great

Decent food, staff very attentive and priced reasonable. Lots of choices on the menu. I would say the decor maybe needs updating but it would stop me going back!

Usually I don't write reviews but ive been to the kitchen a number of times for breakfast and for lunch (always having something different) and I have to say the food is delicious, always cooked to perfection. Presentation is a 10/10 And the staf are so kind and attentive. Not to mention there dessert

Visited this bistro today and had a roast beef Sunday dinner, I had salmon and my son had an all day breakfast (even the light breakfast was very generous) and our baby just made a mess!My salmon was succulent and plentiful and the Sunday roast was delicious (according to my usually very critical husband). Staff were attentive, smiley and friendly. Had a conversation with another customer who told me she eats at the bistro daily! Had a great experience, thank you and sorry for the crying baby we had with us, although she enjoyed the sautéed potatoes. See you again soon.

Amazed at how good the food is here despite a rather bland interior. Same could not be said about the waiter/ owner who appeared so aloof. Appeared critical when I attempted to order cottage pie instead of shepherds pie or vice verse and then became stroppy when I asked for San Pellegrino as I just wanted to have sparking water whereas he was stating the flavours which weren’t indicated on the menu. When we asked to see the dessert menu he refused and said he would tell us what was on offer. Perhaps he was just trying to be funny/ friendly but it hardly made us feel welcome. Pity because with good service this would be a 5 star rating.

Visited with my fiance a couple days back and it was absolutely delightful. The service was great, the food was delicious and the staff were lovely. Will definitely be revisiting with the rest of my family. Sidcup's Best!!

I visited The Kitchen with my husband and teenage daughter last Saturday afternoon and the food was delicious, hot, good sized portions and reasonably priced. The owner and staff are lovely so friendly and welcoming who not only look after their regulars but who also care about their new customers too, which is very refreshing compared to other places we have visited in the area! The service was excellent and the place was spotless too! We will definitely be back soon and have already recommended this gem of a restaurant to our family and friends. Thank you!

We visited here during the week with friends. Staff welcoming and order taking quickly. Choice good. We ordered a range on meals from pastas, liver and bacon, sea bass to shepherd pie. All were served hot and on hot plates Quantity reasonable although ample for us. Most meals ordered were good, but for one diner considered the shepherds pie was a bit overrun with gravy and could have been more tasty. However, we enjoyed the meals, and the desserts that followed. Although the dessert choices were limited, they were fine for us. Prices reasonable.

I was told this was an Italian bistro but when looking at the menu I was very confused as to what cuisine it offered the service was ok.. , however food was bland and overpriced will DEFINITELY not be going back

Visited the other day with my family and we all left with a new found favourite resturant. Food was delicious and the owners were lovely. Very welcoming and a great atmosphere... Would recommend the skate, seabass and most definitely the salmon. The sandwiches were also delicious and my son almost licked the plate after he had finished his spaghetti bolognese. Perfect restaurant for the family and price wise you really can't ask for more for the pric. Great quality food, great atmosphere and great staff. Great time had by all.

I have never left The Kitchen unsatisfied due to the great food cooked by the two talented chefs in the back and the great service offered by the friendly staff. Lovely family business.

Lunch was very nice & service very pleasant/efficient - obvious the food was freshly cooked - worth a visit

Having been once before and loved it went in again Saturday morning whilst on our way to work only to be very very disappointed. I ordered smashed avocado and poached eggs asked for the eggs well done please! I got two slices of the thinnest toast I’ve ever seen with two of the runniest poached eggs ever and half an avocado fanned out on one of the toast! In no shape or form was this the delicious sounding smashed avocado described on the menu. Sorry to say was the worst smashed avocado I’ve ever been served. Hubby had the full English with again the awful paper thin toast, sausages had barely touched the frying pan and stringy bacon. Such a shame as was so impressed when we ate here before. Too much competition in the high st though to be serving this standard of food up. Hate moaning as I work in the service industry and I know it’s not easy but this was really not up to standard. Sorry to say.

Stopped by for breakfast - impressed by size of portion of the Full English. Professional and friendly staff, nice ambiance. Happily recommend.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with 6 friends, we all selected from the set menu but we could have also have ordered from the main menu. All the food was fresh and every one of us enjoyed our meals. The owners went out of their way to make our afternoon lovely, we will return.

My wife and I decided to go for breakfast in Sidcup and the establishment we were going to go to was closed, so we decided to wander along the high street to see what was there. We stopped at The Kitchen and thought it looked pleasant so thought we'd try it out.

The Kitchen is a total gem on our high street. The food is incredible my favourites being the king prawns, the flaming chicken and the delicious tiramisu. The welcome on arrival is always extremely friendly and the service is attentive. We have visited with our one year old son a number of times and they are always excellent with him; providing a clean high chair, making him laugh and providing a high quality children's menu.

Popped in with my mum for a little snack and a glass of pimms on a hot day! We ordered a few starters to share and the food was lovely. The new owners are very welcoming and friendly, will definitely recommend to my friends and return myself.

Arrived at 11am for breakfast, ordered a veggie full English, and smashed avocado with poached eggs. Took 50 minutes. Poached eggs were basically hard boiled. Avocado toast was soggy where it had clearly been sat out for ages. Ordered hash browns on the side.. and got one, this seemed a little stingy given it was £1 for an extra item. Service was ok but they just seem inexperienced and without the basics of customer service - not even an apology when we asked why our food was taking so long. “There are only 2 people in the kitchen”. Well that should be plenty for a cafe with what 30 covers? If it’s not then someone isn’t running the kitchen properly. We won’t be returning.

Sunday morning visit after a family party and they accommodated 14 of us without problem. Full English breakfast looked great, I had smashed avocado on toast which was lovely. Good cup of tea and friendly service too!

Friendly staff, good lunch menu, family friendly, nicely decorated. We stumbled upon The Kitchen whilst shopping on the High St and were pleasantly surprised. Food was good and the service was prompt and friendly. Our two little ones really like the fish and chips, with the chips in a basket, “just like mummy and daddy’s”!

Wife and I had lunch.specifically asked if ham was real ham not processed.waitress said ‘thought so’.Meal turned up with very small amount of processed ham.Two eggs both cold.Told the waiter but no response from the manage or owner.I will stick with Little Florence.Hot chocolate had little cream on as well.Avoid.Prices on the high side

Very warm and friendly welcome. The owner is a gentleman. Coffee was great and so was the chicken salad! Will be back soon! Great find.

Enjoyed a superb lunch with friends. Some had the specials. All main courses and desserts were served promptly and served very hot. All too often meals elsewhere are served on cold plates! The restaurant prides itself in offering all meals freshly cooked. It was obvious. The staff were very pleasant, respectful and rightly not familiar. We had not visited the place for a while and were pleasantly surprised...and welcomed. It had been tastefully decorated and looked fresh. We will certainly revisit. Prices were reasonable and offered good value.

Second visit here and can say the food is of a consistently high standard. The staff are all very friendly. Great range of all day breakfast foods as well as other bits too.

Visited the cafe that my daughter and friend have been raving about; and it lived up to my expectations! The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast delicious and good value! The menu caters for a range of appetites. Will be returning on our next visit to Sidcup!

Have popped into the kitchen a few times with the kids for some lunch midweek. Beautiful coffee and delicious food, kids meals really good and nothing is too much for the attentive staff. Highly recommend.

We visited for a late breakfast and have booked to go back again for dinner. The staff were friendly and very helpful as we had our baby Grandson so they gave us a bigger area for the pushchair etc. Like the ethos of the place..everything fresh and cooked on the premises...no pre-packed heat in the microwave meals, just good honest Italian fare.

Visited this restaurant on numerous occasions, most recently at the end of September. I’m a massive fan of the chicken escalope ciabatta and my husband the steak ciabatta. Marco and all the staff are welcoming, service is good and food is delicious.

Today was the first time we visited and it definitely won't be our last. Lovely authentic Italian food. So much on the menu I couldn't decide what to have. Lots of lovely choice. The staff are friendly too. An absolute Star of a Restaurant.

Just had an amazing lunch. One Roast Beef, one Seabass special and one Pollo Milanese (my favourite) with a nice bottle of red, followed by two Red Velvet Cakes and the last tiramisu. Went to The Kitchen for lunch yesterday, such a great restaurant. Lovely relaxed and friendly place, Marco and all the staff very helpful and welcoming and food was great. Looking forward to the next visit.

Couple of us visited this Saturday for brunch. Didn't fancy a greasy spoon so this was a welcome change.

Me and my husband stopped here for breakfast was drawn to the decor outside service was very good food was delicious and cafe was very clean...i will definitly be returning

First time very impressed was with my daughter and grand daughter very clean good service food excellent and reasonable prices my wife had wing of skate was superb will go again recommended

Been here a couple of times now and it's well worth a visit. First time we had coffee and cake each. The coffee is really good and the cakes are lovely. Second time was for a veggie breakfast which was great. Good portions and definitely different to a lot of vegetarian breakfasts around.
