Here for Mothers day lunch and everything was perfect. Service was great, made sure we had everything we needed, food arrived with little waiting time and was lovely. Will definitely return to this place

I came here for a birthday lunch and the portions were just right. We enjoyed the fish platter, opting for peas instead of calamari and the kitchen was accommodating. The tempura batter on the prawns was light. Lovely fat chips, food piping hot. My brother enjoyed his chicken platter with barbecued wings and was determined to finish the plateful. We also enjoyed the beer. We shared a deliciously nutty warmed chocolate brownie with gelato to follow.

Having eaten here a few times, we dined with them for valentines, the fixed menu choice was superb, staff were fantastic, quality of food 1st class. Will definitely return. Just find it a bit strange that trip advisor shows it as closed, about time they updated there site. Good luck to the new landlords and may the good continue to impress.

We visit the pub frequently for drinks with friends, it’s always a lovely atmosphere. We have also eaten here several times, each time the food has been delicious. Last night my husband and I visited for the set valentines meal… it was fantastic! The food was excellent, all homemade and the flavour was delicious. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The extra attention to detail with Roses, chocolates and valentines decorations made it even more special. A huge thank you to Paul and Debbie

Came for the set menu valentines meal with my husband. The waitresses were extremely attentive and cannot be faulted. The steak and halibut were both over cooked, lacked seasoning and the chips tasted terrible as if they had been frozen for months. When this was brought to the attention of the landlord, he was extremely rude and aggressive towards my husband. My husband had offered to tip our lovely waitress £10 and wanted £10 off the bill (all in all the same price but the money going where it is deserved) for the poor quality food and the landlord was shouting in front of the whole restaurant threatening to call the police over a very poorly cooked meal. Accused us of ‘just not wanting to pay’ which is not the case because had the food been good quality we would have happily paid in excess of £50pp. That is certainly no way to keep customers, especially in a small village pub. Will not be recommending to anyone and I hope the waitresses can see that they would probably be treated better elsewhere! On the plus side - the wine was lovely!

It was my partners 80th birthday today and as original plans had changed we decided to try and see if we could get a table for two having eaten here before and knowing how good the food is. Luckily we were greeted by lovely staff and they found us a table immediately, no trouble at all. Well the roast beef dinner was delicious and very generous . We had the loveliest waitress too. Managed to fit in desert which was also lovely. The decor is so nice as was the music playing in the background . This pub has a lovely atmosphere and we intend to return again very soon. Nice place for a drink, or dinner

The pub has a great ambiance and helpful staff. we ordered food from the Christmas menu, and my partners vegetarian dish looked appealing and freshly prepared, and she really enjoyed it. However, the turkey roast which I was served was no better than a school dinner. it was served with a generous portion of veg and roast (?) potatoes. Unfortunately, the gravy,and turkey had no flavour at all, and the roasties, were no more than large frozen chips and were just as dry. I have never had a roast dinner when the item with most flavour was the carrots. I'm afraid that I will not be repeating my visit, which is a shame, because it is a really welcoming pub, and they obviously can serve good food, its just a pity the same effort isn't made for all dishes.

The landlord/owner is rude and aggressive to customers. Also very unprofessional. Avoid and go somewhere decent.

Witnessed the pub landlord shouting and being very aggressive towards a female customer. In addition to this, since new ownership the pub has really gone down hill. It’s turned into a men’s club/sports bar. Will not be returning, what a sad time for the residents of Haughley.

Went with 2 friends for lunch today. It was really a great meal. Hot plates, plenty of food. Resonably priced all In all brilliant. Going again next week.

Hadn't been here since the new owners took over but heard good reviews. Waitresses very friendly and helpful. Sunday roasts very good except cauliflower cheese which was vile......cooked to a mush and cheese sauce a thick tasteless gloup. Apart from that the landlord was somewhat short and sharp in fact bordering unfriendly. We'll give it another go and hope he changes his attitude. Oh we were also overcharged on our drinks!

Thought we would try out the Sunday roast today.very disappointed. 1.30 but no turkey left so had to have beef which I gave to my partner,his pint of IPA came halfway through the meal,frozen roast potatoes & Yorkshires! Vegetables overcooked & tasteless,cauliflower cheese,couldn't taste any cheese! I ate 3 mouthfuls & gave up.will definitely not be returning.Bacton Bull & Norton Dog do a proper roast dinner,will keep going there.

Very impressed!! Such a gem of a pub in a lovely village. My friends & i travelled specifically as there was a lot of talk about new owners. Sooo glad we did..... amazing food, amazing atmosphere & amazing staff. The only thing that was dissapointing was reading the comments about the pub that seemed a little bitter to say the least. Im not really sure what people expect but if they expect silver service & Michelin star food then maybe they should find a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. If something is wrong with your order then im sure the staff could of corrected it as they all seemed very welcoming. It is a shame people can wite these awful reviews & get away with damaging good peoples names. I would highly recomend the Pub a visit & we wil definetley be reattending & hyping this local business up

We knew the pub would be different under new management, and we were very open-minded before checking it out, hoping to come out with a food experience given the apparent ‘hype’. Unfortunately, it’s a huge disappointment. Sports on a large tv, pool table, and slot machine looks as though you’re taken back 20 years ago. None of us felt really comfortable there, and really wouldn’t feel comfortable having an evening meal there. My friend wanted an orange juice & lemonade but was given a orange juice and soda. I asked for a latte, they only do filter coffee. Not really an adequate selection of non-alcoholic beverages, especially since it was lunchtime. To survive in today’s market, you need to cater to all - no, it doesn’t have be a posh gastropub - but you need a mix to cater for both the foodies and the drinkers. We all have our preferences, but this doesn’t really cater to anyone but the drinkers. A ‘village pub’ can be a lot of things. It doesn’t have to be something that only caters to one market. Unfortunately, I doubt we’ll be back. Also, they should really delete the reviews this pub received from the old management, a bit cheeky in my opinion using those to boost them up.

6 of us visited Kings arms on Friday evening , the pub was busy so we felt that was a good sign . The food was excellent really good chips everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinner. The service was very good Jess our waitress was fabulous very helpful and friendly . Well done Kings Arms we will be back

Well what can I say went to The Kings Arms Haughley which is under new management for the first time for,Sunday lunch the food was excellent not joking. We started with the classic prawn cocktail let's just say they don't scrimp on the prawns it was wonderful followed by roast lamb which was cooked to perfection with all the trimmings,ending with cherry and rhubarb franzipan the Landlord and Landlady Paul and Debbie deserve all the success that is sure to come their way . Thank you

Had Sunday lunch it was OK, but for the price was expecting home made yorkshire pudding not frozen, a plus service was very good and a nice atmosphere

On arrival the pub had quite a few locals in and the restaurant also. The atmosphere was brilliant!!! So lovely to see all the locals back and mixing again Service was spot on. The staff who served us were knowledgeable about the menus and took great care of us even though they were extremely busy! Food was just phenomenal and I can assure that we will be back for more!! Lovely to see the owner mixing with all of his customers All in all it was awesome to see the village have a pub back again with reasonable prices and great atmosphere... lovely to have the heart of haughley back

We visited today to our pre booked table … so glad we booked !.. I was actually very surprised how busy they were for a Tuesday lunch -what doesn’t surprise me is why . Tables both in and out very comfortably spaced out so you didn’t feel hemmed in … very attentive staff and absolutely brilliant food . We will definitely be back .

First visit following the change of management. We had high expectations given the hype of how experienced they are and what their plans are for changes. We arrived on a Friday lunchtime at 1.20. Pub was less than half full. Greeted very rudely to be told they had no tables. I asked if we could sit at one of the empty tables outside and was advised we could not have food. No apology or hope to see you another time so they won’t!!

Perfect midweek dinner - the restaurant was full (so i am glad we booked a table). I noticed they fit in a couple of people who did not walk in, in the bar area which was nice. Great menu at reasonable prices. The restaurant has such a relaxed feel to it and every table had their own space. So many restaurants cram in more tables but this one had a lovely feel to it. I had the chicken platter which was brilliant! Chicken wings that the meat just fell of the bone, homemade coleslaw and a homemade white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake that was to die for. We will be back!! Thanks x

A first, and certainly not the last, visit to this fabulous place for lunch today with a girlfriend. We enjoyed a non-alcohol drink outside before being shown to a delightful table overlooking the village street. We both chose from the set 2-course menu at £23 per person. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her Beef Taco starter followed by the skate wing. I chose the Skate Wing as a main course and the Brûlée for dessert. the sauce with the Skate was superb and in a class of it's own, as was the delicious Skate wing. Total bill was a reasonable £54.83 including service charge. We were looked after by a delightful young male server and also spoke to the joint owners afterwards, a truly delightful and clearly passionate foodie couple, who are certainly going places. Speaking of which, very sadly, this couple are moving onto pastures new in a few weeks time and we are very much looking forward to hearing from them as to where they are going - hopefully staying in East Anglia. Do pop along as soon as you can before you miss out on a really excellent and reasonably priced lunch in delightful surroundings.

Lovely gastro style pub in a quiet location. Easy parking. Warm welcome and chic modern decor within an old beamed bar and restaurant. Servers were cheerful, attentive and very polite. A real team spirit was evident amongst the staff on duty. Food was delicious - we could not fault it and I was super happy as plates were warm too! Good selection of wines/beer and cocktails plus soft drinks. Highly recommended😊

I'm so pleased and proud to call The Kings Arms our local. We often visit not just for meals but also for snacks and drinks. The food is fantastic, always fresh and delicious. It's a great place to visit as a couple, with the family or with the dog 😀 The staff are lovely and always make you feel welcome and we really enjoy spending time at our local. The Kings Arms is a real gem and on our doorstep 😀

Eaten here a few times in recent years and never been disappointed with the food, the fish dishes have been particularly good in particular the Skate wing pan fried in butter the Sea Bass is equally good. I found the prices a little excessive and their coffee is pretty awful but all in all a nice restaurant with friendly and attentive staff.

What a lovely pub, beautifully decorated with a warm and welcoming feel to it. My partner and l had a fantastic meal. The food was sublime. All three courses were delicious, each one beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The chef is a master at his craft and should be applauded for his skill. It was quite simply one of the best meals we have had in a long time. I would strongly recommend you try this little quaint pub, you definately won't be dissapointed! We have booked it for our wedding reception venue and l must say lm looking forward to the meal as much as l am the wedding! Perfection! They've nailed it!

We dined here last Thursday, after turning up early we sat and had a drink in the bar area. However, I imagine if they are fully booked this wouldn't be as possible as it looks like they use the bar for over flow restaurant reservations. But they do have an inviting looking courtyard outside which would be perfect in the summer months. Having enjoyed our first drinks we ordered 3 of the nibbles before ordering our food selection. The standout for me was the buttermilk chicken with the smoked chilli mayonnaise. Such a simple dish done outstandingly well and the rest of the meal followed the same suit. The menu isn't vast but I would say there is something for everyone & whatever you order I don't think you'd be disappointed. The restaurant space was warm and friendly, the tables neatly spaced and for a Thursday night in late April the restaurant had a wonderful buzz to it. Already excited to return here in the future.

Living in Bury St Edmunds I thought it would be a long drive to Haughley, took just over 15 minutes and was well worth the drive. Great service, incredible food and they even had a set menu that was such good value for money. Everything we had was delicious, extremely high end food in a relaxed welcoming setting. This pub is my sisters local, I only wish it was mine! Will definitely be going back.

The food here was AMAZING, but unfortunately we were very rushed when dining. The food came out quickly and after our meal we were asked if we would like dessert, we said yes but wanted to wait a while, we were asked again very quickly and explained we would like to wait. We were then asked for the 3rd time and told if we wanted dessert we needed to order as the kitchen closes at 8:30pm. Soon after we received our bill which we hadn’t asked for, and then shortly after another waitress came over with the card machine, I said we weren’t ready (and could see the waitresses unhappy expression). We felt extremely rushed throughout the evening. I spoke to the waitresses at the end of the evening to ask if it’s normally like this and explained we felt extremely rushed, they apologised we felt like that, but said when it’s so quiet and due to the cost of living if they can close early, they do. Based on the food alone I would have come back time and time again with family and friends but no one I dine with, myself included, would want to be rushed out, so on that basis I will not be returning. I would have 100% recommended to everyone if we felt welcome. If you want high quality food and to be in and out quickly this is the place for you, but if you want a relaxed and comfortable evening I would go elsewhere.

Returned to the Kings Arms after about 15 Months after hearing they had been given 2 AA Rosettes for their food. What had changed? Bar the rosettes and small alterations in the restaurant nothing. Food still brilliant (rosettes probably should have been given sometime ago) and service excellent! Won't leave it so long next time.

Since the new landlords have come in earlier this year the numbers of visitors has dropped. The standard of food used to be high but on my last visit just over a week ago the food was awful. My hake dish was oily and my friend's chicken was overcooked and almost inedible. When they took over they installed their own choice of beers, Doom Bar and Hobgoblin, and did away with the best selling Adnam's Ghost Ship. It was because of this that I decided to stop going there, a pub that I have been visiting for thirteen years. It was by chance a few weeks ago that I saw that they had reinstated it. Hooray! If you dined outside, in the past, you could order and have your food delivered to your table and when you wanted to pay and leave the card machine would be brought to you for you to pay the bill. Now, if you want to eat outside, you have to order your meal at the bar and pay for it upfront. Not very customer friendly. Needless to say myself and my friends will not go there again.
