The King William in West Lindsey

Visiting this morning for a family breakfast. 6 of us and the place was empty. First issue was when asking for a simple substitution on the menu I was told no and had to push to be allowed it and offer to pay more to have eggs scrambled rather than fried because the kitchen ‘didn’t want to do it’.For an empty restaurant, the food took 55 minutes to come out and we had to chase it with no apology. When it finally came they missed the bacon off two breakfast and didn’t provide butter for toast... again all needed to be chased. Just really poor service. And the toilets were filthy. Quite clearly hadn’t been checked since the night before. Really disappointing and won’t return.

Amazing food and very lovely staff. Service was excellent and would thoroughly recommend. Ordered the slow cooked pork belly and steak and it was superb!

Absolutely fantastic food. I can not fault this establishment on the quality of the food. It was our 5th wedding anniversary and after eating here a few times in the past I chose to celebrate here! A three course meal and every course exceptional. A firm *****

Visited Lincoln on a day trip and chose this pub as it looked more traditional and had our mum with us who would not like itallian etc. Well so glad we did. Absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere. Friendly welcoming staff and the best roast dinner ever!!!! Complete perfection and rounded off our day nicely!!!! Just brilliant.

This was the first time I’ve eaten in the Royal William been in lots for drinks.Booked a table on line turned up a little early had a drink by the Brayford poolGood location.The restaurant wasn’t to busy but better off booking the menu was great lots of choices and a fantastic vegetarian menu well thought out the food was well cooked great presentation good size portions & fresh fantastic surprise for me as just how fantastic the food was congratulations to the chef. The front of house are dressed well and fresh looking too polite friendly and attentive without been over the top. Now the negative points the outside of the place was let’s say unloved it’s a fantastic location busy but looking like it wasn’t cared for dirty glasses rubbish on the floor sticky tables such a shame point two are the toilets not clean not looked like no one was making sure they were clean and tidy I get the place can be used by people who just want to use the toilets and not eat or drink but as a manager you shouldn’t neglect the rest of the place I such a shame. Don’t be put off from my negative points I’m sure they will look into giving a bit more attention to those points. The food the staff the location the price are great well worth a visit.

I have dined at the Royal William IV on several occasions. The food is excellent and the specials are well worth trying. I particularly recommend the Chicken and Chorizo Linguini. If you are looking for a quiet meal then it is worth checking the website in order to avoid the weekly quiz night...alternatively, you may simple prefer to join in with it!

"Sit where you like - no, not there! Choose anything from our menu - oh, no, we don't do roasts after five!" Food was just about OK. Atmosphere was non-existent. We won't be returning in a hurry!

Yesterday my adult sons and I found Royal Willam IV while searching for a Sunday Roast before boarding our train to London. We were delighted with our Sunday Roast Beef Dinner with all the trimmings, excellent local draught Ale, the service and our perfectly situated table alongside Lincoln's interesting snd pleasing downtown Waterfront.

Went here for lunch with my mum and daughter after a 'girly' shopping day. The setting was lovely, right on the river, so we sat outside watching the boats and people passing by. It was a pretty good menu (the slow cooked belly pork was very tasty) and also a further selection on the specials board.

We stumbled across this pub whilst passing through Lincoln. What a truly amazing Sunday dinner we had! Food was perfect, large portions and super quick service. The staff were lovely, friendly and polite! The only disappointment is that we don’t live nearer or we would definitely become regulars! Highly recommended!

Set on the harbour in the centre of the city, One of the best little pubs I've been in, clean tidy music not too loud, the staff couldn't have been nicer they really look after you, had lots of GF options and food was lovely, service quick, they have a good range of specialty drinks too. They do a 20% off deal if you have booked the Odeon cinema next door as well. So much classier than your average pub, well done.

Lovely food served by lovely staff in a lovely location.

We visited for drinks over the Easter weekend and found it to have a lovely atmosphere. There was nice spaces to sit out in the sunshine by the water for the daytime and comfy seats inside for the evening.

Good choice on menu, food real well cooked and presented. Staff are friendly. I have now visited this place twice when visiting Lincoln and food just as good the second tome of visiting.

Very nice place...great atmosphere...right on the waterfront close to the train station. Very nice staff. I note that they created a unique salad for my spouse who has many food allergies--she thought it was terrific. If we are in Lincoln again, we will return.

We had a lovely meal and were looked after very well. The complimentary prosecco was much appreciated! 4 of us ordered the lamb shank, and it was perfectly braised, fell off the bone, albeit it could have been a little hotter, however the veg was hot and fresh. One chicken roast was also apparently delicious. We weren't rushed at all, had a rest before deserts which were substantial portions and all very tasty.. all in all a lovely couple of hours with attentive staff

Having booked here for Mother’s Day, I was looking forward to it.

Came here with my parents for dinner on Saturday evening. Great atmosphere and interiors with candles everywhere and dim lighting, food was delicious- two veggies were eating and we had plenty to choose from. Staff really accommodating and friendly. Thanks!

Wait for food was far to long and when it did arrive was cold! The steak was the worst my partner as ever had and portions very small! definitely won’t return or recommend to anyone! Shame as heard such good reviews

Found it very hard to prize myself away from the outside seating at the Royal William IV beside Brayford Pool. Great selection of beers and wines to enjoy on a sunny day, friendly and helpful staff. Certainly not the cheapest bar in the immediate area, but I always end up returning anyway.

I took my parents to this restaurant, booked in advance because rumour has it that it can be very busy, and was very pleased. We all had a roast with a sharing vegetable bowl. Plenty of food and great value for money. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.

Very good service and the chimi beef salad was very nice although there could have been more meat with it though. Would definately go again.

We had a simple lunch of baguettes and wraps between the 4 of us. Very nice food, decently priced. Nice beers and water for the table.

Brilliant food and service in lovely surroundings. Can completely recommend the pies, beef chilli and scampi. And the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate torte were amazing!

We were in Lincoln for the weekend.

The two of us enjoyed a good lunch of Liver and Onions with excellent thick tasty gravy! We also had the Hunters Chicken off the specials board which was well cooked and lovely to eat. The beer I had was not good. There was obviously something wrong with it. The staff were happy to change it without question.

Group of ten friends visiting for a works night out. Pre ordered food, service was good, staff were chatty and polite. Each group member said food tasted great, there just wasn't enough of it. Came away still hungry, even after a main and pudding.

Terrible food, terrible service, the manager clearly shouldn't be working in an environment where people want to enjoy a Sunday afternoon. Despite happily serving us she then decided we had to leave without a clear explanation, very embarrassing, I will continue to take this up with the owners. Please take my advice and visit here

In the top 2 of Lincoln Sunday lunches, very good. service a little slow and never asked if we’d like desserts. Waited 15mins while having another pint after clearance, still no offer or menus brought. So paid and left. Would visit again as lunch that good.

Couldn’t fault it, all home made and tastes amazing. The lemon meringue pie for desert was yum yum !!!

Nice cosy bar. I enjoy going there for a few drinks with colleagues after work. The staff are friendly and there is nice atmosphere.

My wife and I dropped in for some pub grub and we were both pleased with the service and standard of the food . I had gamon my wife had chicken butterfly wings. Both were well presented and came in good time. We sball use the place again.

Third visit to this charming venue for food - but first time on a Sunday. As always the atmosphere was cosy and staff very welcoming. The menu offers a great choice with lots of options for any vegetarians or vegans in your party. The Sunday today options are super. I opted for the roast belly pork which came with rosemary roast potatoes, creamy mash, seasonal veg, cauliflower cheese and braised red cabbage - lush! Highly recommend.

Really tasty meal. Pub has a nice feel to it good ambience and staff were very friendly. We had a meal on the Wednesday night and on Thursday night as well.We were staying at the Holiday Inn and it was nice and close to waik to .Highly recommend if you are in the area .

We popped in for a quick lunch whilst visiting Lincoln and there was such a nice cosy, warming vibe with candles on every table even at lunch. I had the mushroom pie which was absolutely amazing and my Mum had the beef bourguignon which she loved too. they seemed to have a good amount of veggie options too including the mushroom pie, vegan bean chilli and a few others.

We popped in for a steak on a Friday night from round t'corner at the Double Tree Hilton. We didn't much fancy chain restaurant purgatory so wanted to come to a pub with actual character. The Billy 4 is a lovely joint with sunny people and a good line in quality pub food. It also serves BEER. Which is useful.

Early Saturday evening meal. Staff very friendly and accommodating and good choice of drinks on offer. Menu was pretty standard pub grub. My dish (Beef pot roast) was one of the nicest dishes I have tasted recently in a pub, simple but cooked well and served with nice vegetables and a good glass of red wine. Overall a great experience and will be visiting again.

Called in after a walk with our two dogs. Dog friendly area set aside with dog biscuits on the bar.

Walked along the brayford and decided to pop in for lunch. Excellent decor very friendly and helpful staff and the food was absolutely delicious, I will be visiting here again without a doubt.

Lovely food. Staff were very welcoming as you walked through the door. Cute candles on the tables and lovely music playing to create a lovely atmosphere. We each had a burger meal. Lovely and well presented. Would definitely pop in again!

Went here for our work Christmas dinner. It was a nice atmosphere and service was pretty good and efficient. At £25 per head for 3 courses you expect a decent meal but not Michelin star. The soup was very poor and tasted purely of orange, the pate and white bite were ok. For main the chicken and ham pie was the biggest hit with crisp pastry and extra gravy. The turkey was also very good. The veg on both these dishes were perfectly cooked too. Would have been nice to have a few more. The beef goulash has mixed reviews, mainly tasty but lacking in beef. Finally the desserts. These fell well short. Cheese and biscuits consisted of two types of very cheap cheese. The sorbet was nothing special as was the browny. Not a terrible meal but not sure I would return.

1st visit to Lincoln and found this place and due to awful weather decided not to venture too far.

My friend and I visited on Saturday evening.During Lincoln Christmas market. We were able to book in advance as most places you cannot for this weekend but my friend is gluten intolerant so poses some problems.

This is a lovely pub. Very old and in a lovely location next to the Waterside. The staff are attentive and the food is great. The pate was one of the best I've tasted but could have done with more toast. The main was delicious and we enjoyed it. Cheese and biscuits followed which was disappointing hence 4 stars rather than 5. The selection of cheese was poor, the biscuits were extremely boring and the greenery was uninspired. No thought put into it at all which is a shame. However, we would definitely go again.

Popped in on the off chance of getting a Sunday dinner. Pleased we did. Fairly busy but only waited about 20 minutes from ordering at the bar. We both had beef and weren't disappointed. Nicely presented and with just enough to feel full but not overstuffed. Rosemary roasties were perfect. Creamy mash and nice choice of veg. Great service too.

Me and my partner went to the royal william to enjoy a Sunday dinner. We were informed upon arrival that they stopped serving roast dinners at 5pm, we arrived around 4:30pm. We were shown to a table after waiting at the bar. While looking at the menu we realised that after waiting 25 minutes no one had even come to take a drink order let alone allow us to order the roast dinners we had purposely driven for. No member of staff questioned why we were leaving or if they could help up. We left just after 5mp due to the members of staff stood next to our table been disrespectful about other members of staff and making snide remarks about senior members of the team.

Came in at 1pm today, politely told there were no tables, we reserved a table for 4 at 1.45pm.

My Wife and I went with Son in Law and his Son on a lunch time. The place was very busy and we managed to acquire the last 4 seater table available. We found the staff to be very efficient even under pressure. The service was good as was the food which was reasonably priced.

Lovely clean and well decorated restaurant which was easy to find.

We had a lovely meal on Friday night, there were four of us and we all had something different and nobody was disappointed. The puddings were fabulous too. Our son is at uni in lincoln and here is where we eat everytime we come down, we have found it to be consistently good and can heartily recommend it, the beers not bad either.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime , if staff tried to crack a smile it might have made the visit a little better. Looked like they could just about be bothered to serve. Should have seen the look on her face when I asked for "just a straight glass without any fruit" for the gin and tonic I ordered , jeez what a look I got.

We had a wonderfull meal with a great service. Could try different bears😁 Realy enjoyed it. Thanks to the team...

I am not one to write any reviews normally however I went in there today with my family and I have to say the service and food was exceptional. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff were very smiley and friendly. Managing a customer service environment in my own role I can see and appreciate an excellent service provided that deserves to be mentioned. Thank you Jas who looked after us. You are a credit to the business.

Came here with my friends for something to eat. The atmosphere is cosy but the staff are so rude. No customer service and really didn't look as though they wanted to be there. They couldn't even crack a smile! The food wasn't worth the money and was extremely greasy! I have had a better burger after a night out from a takeaway. Won't be returning here because of this.

Visited on a Friday evening with a friend of London who had come up for the day. We enjoyed the civilised ambiance, the excellent service from Kerry and Emily, and the first rate food. My companion had belly pork which he raved about and I had a superior Shepherd's Pie with melt-in-your-mouth lamb and a lovely swede and potato mash. Sticky toffee pudding afterwards made it a comfortingly British meal - perfect for Autumn. Thanks to all involved.

We popped in to this pub without a booking and had no problem getting a table, we checked out the menu and both thought a bit limited but it gives the chef a good chance of getting everything right, we both had the pate to start disappointing to say the least it was a commercial bought in product I had expected it to be homemade, and the baguette was par baked that had been finished on the griddle (so ended up under baked), then I had the fish not a good choice the fish was over cooked and the chips could have dome with another minute or so in the fryer, the gammon seemed a touch on the dry side but acceptable, the service was very good but I don’t think I will rush back.

Today my husband and I came in for a anniversary meal. The food was very nice, with a good couples atmosphere.

This is a lovely pub, they have wonderful food on offer. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I visited twice,we booked the 1st time however we did not book on Sunday. I advise people to book on a Sunday as they are very popular. However we sat in the bar and could still order Sunday lunch. The portions are a good size. Definitely worth a visit

Having used the Royal William1V before we have come to expect good food and friendly staff. Unfortunately on this occasion we were disappointed. Before ordering we asked how long it would be to get a meal as we planned to get an earlier train home, the waitress said not very long, in fact it was 40 minutes arriving and were disappointed as both meals and staff friendliness were not up to your usual standard.

This is a lovely friendly welcoming place to visit. There is an area where you can sit and eat with your dog which is perfect as there are not many in Lincoln. The food was lovely and reasonably priced.

Lovely quaint pub, delicious chilli con carne !!! Great menu, very nice friendly staff, cosy atmosphere. This is an ideally situated by the river overlooking a bird sanctuary, river boats and university.

Both of us had the special Mackeral fishcakes. Very tasty, enjoyed very much. The 20% cinema discount made it very reasonably priced.

Apareció un domingo sin reserva y tuvo la suerte de conseguir la última mesa disponible, ya que estaba completamente reservado. La camarera fue amable y nos mostró nuestros asientos y tomó nuestra orden de bebidas y las bebidas llegaron rápidamente! Nuestra comida llegó y yo había pedido la cena de carne asada con panza de cerdo y estaba muy bien cocinada y sazonada! Una joya en el brayford con todos los restaurantes de la marca a su alrededor y debe ignorarlos e ir aquí.

After a long drive back from County Durham we decided to stop in for a late Sunday Roast, as a frequent visitor to the Royal William i had no hesitation, however i have to say i was very disappointed to find they had run out of certain a vegetable dish, offered either extra stuffing or vegetables, opted for the extra stuffing...my beef arrived it was no where near a good as usual, roast potatoes over cooked and the gravy was very watery, the bowl of vegetable had one slice of carrot (for 2 people) with water in the bottom of the bowl...not at all what i expected, never had a bad meal especially on a Sunday, i know it was late and i understand things may run out, but the price remains the same so i expect the quality to also be the same, no matter the time of day.

We went to eat Sunday 16th in the evening, Kathryn ordered the chicken and chorizo linguine, which she commented was lovely. I ordered to beef and ale pie with chips, to be perfectly honest this pie was the best pie I have ever had, I can say that I am by no way a expert, but the pie was to die for, and the side of gravy was fantastic. The service from the bar staff was great, I ordered orange with soda water, that was great. I would recommend this pub to anybody, we will be visiting this place again, as we need to visit Lincoln again as our son has just started uni.

Lovely quaint pub on bray water front.

Lovely old pub in the heart of Lincoln. Made a nice change from the big chain establishments. Only stopped for an afternoon drink having settled my son in to his Uni Halls. Will definitely go back on our next visit.

After a long day walking around Lincoln we decided on this pub for an evening meal as a local had recommended it to us during the day. It was good food, good portions and better than we have experienced from many pubs. We were going to share a dessert but couldn't decide on which one to choose so had one each which again were very good. Would not hesitate to eat here again or recommend.

Lovely candlelight meal recently with a friend. A smooth and tasty pâté to start with, followed by espetadas, skewers of meat and vegetables hanging from an interesting gadget. Not only was the presentation entertaining but the meat was tender and succulent and the peppers and onions still with a little crunch to them and the chimmichurri sauce and sweet potato fries added a further touch of exoticism. The portion was generous but I still had room for a luscious raspberry frangipane with mango sorbet. The setting by the Brayford Pool is enchanting and the restaurant itself tasteful and comfortable. Impeccable, smiling service from Rosie. Thank you.

Ordered liver, bacon mash with seasonal vegetables. The vegetables where slightly uncooked. Overall a ok meal, I would eat here again but only at a push.

Very good service and good food. The only down side was that the vegetables that accompanied the liver and bacon was very under cooked. Gammon was excellent.

When we have a short city break in Lincoln we always choose to take our evening meals at The Royal William IV. Having just returned home from another visit we can say that this little gem of a pub has friendly, professional staff who serve you with a smile. An excellent choice on the menu. The food is well presented, delicious and the atmosphere in the pub is very welcoming. We thoroughly recommend the Royal William IV and will not hesitate to return when we visit the fine city of Lincoln again.

I visited Lincoln for the first time with my girlfriend. We searched the internet to look for a nice pub lunch. After seeing your typical chains like, Nando’s, tgi, pizza express and many more we came across the Royal William iV which looked rather inviting. The pub sat on the water side over looking the canal. We sat down in comfy chairs and got ourself a drink, whilst we waited for the food to be served which took around 20mins. The food was reasonably priced at £8 for a sandwich and chips. The waitress was friendly and happy to be there. This is a lovely spot for food, afternoon drinks on the water side and definitely a recommended pub to visit.

We thought we’d make a change from the usual chain restaurants on then Bradford Wharf choosing the RW4 for its traditional British pub look. A greeter showed us to a table and took our drinks order ... so far so good. Then, we both chose steaks only to be told they have no steaks. We ordered burgers instead and waited and waited and waited. When our food eventually arrived the burgers were over cooked and dry. The chips looked and tasted nice but were soggy, kept warm for too long I expect. I wonder whether the waiter was doubling as chef and barely coping with a half full restaurant. Sorry guys, we won’t be back.

We have visited this pub many times and as always the staff are very friendly and attentive.

After spending the weekend in Lincoln I have to say that sitting out on the waterfront was the perfect way to cap it all off. The gin selection is great and the food was delicious. We were served by a lovely young gentlemen and the staff all seemed very kind and attentive. I imagine watching the sunset would be the perfect evening

We arrived one busy summer evening and staff found us a table by the French windows as it was hot. We were served quickly and although the food was pricier than we're used to, it was very nice. Recommended.

This pub is so worth going to.. our visit coincided with going to the cinema. 4 of us ate and all said how much we had enjoyed our meal.. as as we had cinema ticket we were given 20% off... bagain

We were looking for somewhere to have a roast dinner, last minute decision. Everywhere was busy, then we went in Royal William and smelt roast dinner and they could serve us straight away. One of the best roasts we have had. Would definitely recommend this to all.

My sister chose and was a good choice. On entering we were greeted by a lovely waitress and shown to our table. The waitress was really good as there was 9 of us, first the drinks order and then food. I chose the blue cheese and bacon burger and was well presented. The waitress was very attentive and made sure we had drinks. The meals and drinks were reasonably priced and the view great

Nice to sit outside if there is room in the sunshine. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Good variety on menu.

Came in earlier with several family members. We were served quickly and the food was amazing. The man behind the bar was extremely polite and thoughtful, all of the staff were also very efficient. Very impressed and will be visiting again soon.

Second time of visiting, this time with friends. Food was great and we enjoyed the wide range of gins on offer. The warm weather and the fantastic views of the waterfront makes this place a fantastic place to go to. Can not recommend this place enough.

The location is first rate, on the waterfront with a great view if you can get an outside table. It was very hot and sunny so an umbrella or two would be good. The main courses were good examples of standard pub fare - we had burgers which came with salad and chips. What lifted the meal out of the ordinary was the sticky toffee pudding - good size sponge pudding, vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with honeycomb.

I have eaten at this pub before, however it has been a while, so I was overjoyed to eat again, I had forgotten how wonderful their Steak & Ale is, it is so full of Steak and the ale that is in it is superb.

Popped in this evening for an early meal with my partner, and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing, service was even better! Staff are so friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you. Would highly recommend and return.

Just popped in for drinks, bar lady was unbelievable rude when we asked for no ice in one of the drinks, which we requested when ordering . She replied " could has told us sooner!"..... with a really bad attitude.
