This was our second visit in as many weeks as we loved it so much the first time. Amazing food, fantastic service and welcoming environment. Have a feeling this will be our new 'go to' place.

Couldn't really find any fault with it. Nice location, busy but not too busy. Service was as expected, prices were not unreasonable and food was really good. Had a load of books that you could sit and read and games that you could play which made it feel very homely. And outdoor seating available for the warmer months. Really enjoyed our visit.

Lovely place, nice atmosphere, fairly pricey drinks and a bit of a strange interaction with a server. We stopped in for a quick drink. Seated and served drinks at the table. As we were nearly finished a member of staff asked if we’d like anything else, we said just the bill please. We’d had a pint of beer and a soft drink. Without looking at the bill, my partner handed over a £20 note and was asked “do you want any change?” He asked how much was the bill, “£10” came the reply. He said “I gave you £20, so yes I do.” Quite bizarre. As we left, the candles were lit on the dinner tables and there was a lovely atmosphere on the top floor - will definitely return to try out the food.

Food was fine, gorgeous surroundings but because other customers had left early (it was a Tuesday evening) and my friend and I were the only two left, we were made to feel very uncomfortable and approached by staff several times from 10.00 pm onwards, asked to settle the bill so they could cash up (one staff member even tried to clear our wine bottle away which wasn’t finished!). Lights were dimmed and waitress then appeared in her jacket! We were made to feel very uncomfortable. We’d spent over £70 and were expecting an enjoyable, relaxed evening - I won’t be rushing back.

The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is situated in a lovely area - in just one minute from the restaurant, you’ll find all of the lovely boats in the Marina. The food is to a very good standard and had lots of flavour: very tasty! The steak was lovely as was the chicken shawarma with nice salad, a good pitta bread, and lovely, good quality, seasoned chicken. The halloumi fries were the best! Definitely recommend these: so fresh, juicy, and tasty! However the jacket potato with chilli (only available at lunch time) was not much to get excited about, the chilli was not great and it felt a rip off at over £9!! Nothing was even served alongside it, definitely avoid that! The bill was quite hefty so do keep that in mind. Overall a tasty, decent, good meal, recommend if you’re in the area just make sure not to get any jacket potatoes!

This is definitely not the sailors pub which I fondly remembered and had a lot of good times at. It’s now a sanatised table seated restaurant which is not for yacht crews coming off the boats after a Sundays racing. More for a romantic meal than crews wanting a few beers and Sunday lunch warning by the fire after the Winter Series.

Having lived in Hamble and the surrounding areas for a long time it was sad to see what was once a great pub become hostile and unfamiliar. Upon arrival we were met by a chap who had no interest in making us feel welcome after learning we didn’t have a booking, seemed he didn’t want us to come in and have another table to serve / clear. Apparently they were fully booked (garden was empty) and so we chose to just have drinks. We had roughly 4 over the space of 1 1/2 hours. In which time only 3 tables became occupied. We could have eaten and spent more money. The young servers were lovely, sadly the older chap who first greeted us spoiled our visit. Won’t be back in a hurry unless the “bouncer” on the door isn’t there.

I did not want to write a Tripadvisor review before firstly emailing the establishment to tell them of my experience at the King and Queen in Hamble, as I wanted to give them the chance to reply etc with what may have gone wrong for us. They did not reply. We had booked for the Sunday roast and pre-ordered beforehand. My husband and I picked the tomahawk steak roast For 2 people to share. The girl placed it down on the table, after us waiting a while for it to be cooked , which was fine. There was 1 roast potato and 4 balls of stuffing (paxo type) . The girl then bought over 2 small cold side plates and I asked her to bring larger plates , she did and they were cold so I asked for them to be warm and she then came back again with warmer larger plates, which was fine. We also had to ask for roast potatoes and they came later in a bowl, not the best. We had also ordered a side of chips , they came around 20 mins later and we refused them as was by then too late. We also had to ask for our gravy to be warmed up as this was tepid. No one came to ask if the meal was ok, but it was not acceptable, far from . There was only around 20% of the meat which was edible if that. We had to spit out most into a napkin as there as too much gristle and too chewy. We were so disappointed as had been told this was a nice place for roasts and namely pre-ordering a 'special meal' to share between two. Whoever cut the steak must have seen it was poor before it came out. My daughter also remarked later her chicken was cold but did not like to say anything as was so hungry. When the girl came to take the plates (with most of the food left) she did not ask if everything was ok which we were surprised about. We were meeting new family members for the first time and did not feel we wanted to complain but were also shocked at the lack of compassion by the staff for all the 'wrongs' but namely the tomahawk quality, which we paid I think £68 for! Also noted there was a substantial service charge added to the bill, which we reluctantly paid but did not feel was warranted. Its hard to make a complaint, as we did not want to ruin the day with bad feeling surrounding the meal. No one asked us though how anything was, which you'd expect when paying a lot of money. I’d have expected to hear back from the pub with an explanation and for them to offer some good will from this but have heard nothing.

A member of our group was severely allergic to eggs and nuts and after informing the staff of this and choosing from the allergy menu he ordered the fish and chips and was assured this would be in line with his dietary requirements. Shortly after returning home he had a serious allergic reaction, this couldn’t have been due to anything else as we did not eat hours before or after visiting the pub. The next day he went back to the venue and let them know what had happened for the safety of future customers. He was met with no remorse of any kind, let alone a refund. Wouldn’t recommend eating here if you have allergies!

Tiger prawns over priced and tiny portion. I hate to complain because I know how hard it is working in the chef industry, but I got 1 prawn with less then a handful of chips, the rest of the plate was filled with a whole lemon cut in half and grilled and rocket that was dry with no proper dressing just drizzled with a bit of balsamic (it's nice to have a slice of lemon but not a whole one, it just fills the plate making it look like a bigger dinner but you can't eat it) I was absolutely starving after, the kids had more food on their plate then I did and I ended up finishing all of theirs I was so hungry. It was just under ÂŁ20 for my meal expensive for something that was starter size after taking off the rocket and lemon, also had to pay and extra ÂŁ8odd on top service fee which I know is expected most places but not happy I had to pay it when I didn't get much of a meal. Saying that the table service and staff were lovely. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to say anything about the food because we were in a hurry to leave.

Had visited two days previous in the evening on a very busy Saturday after being shown inside as outside all the tables were full, the young man from front of house said if a table became free he would move us outside. We had not booked a table as this wasn’t our original pub to eat at. The ambiance was lovely the staff friendly the food was delicious. On this I booked again to take my mother this time a rang up booking the table the man said it was his birthday on the day I was booking so I bought home a birthday card which he was delighted with. My aging mother 89 yrs thought all the staff were exceptional and very attentive, the atmosphere was like a big happy family. Have already planned to take other friends to the king & queen, may even go on my own with my dog as all dogs are very welcome.

Before our visit I wasn’t expecting much considering the mixed reviews however the quality of food was excellent: the food was incredibly tasty made with quality ingredients. I definitely recommend the halloumi fries (it was a large portion for the price and served with a delectable spicy mayo). The fish & chips was lovely and fresh, again to a large size with 2 fillets of fish! The smoothies tasted fruity and were very refreshing on a hot day and tasted homemade (nothing frozen from what I could tell) However I can understand the reviews about the front house staff. The women who served us was lovely - absolutely no criticism however the man who first greeted us was not so friendly and could easily come across as rude. The only other little problem was the vinegar bottle. You could easily pour out the whole bottle onto your food, please invest in proper vinegar bottles. Overall a fantastic meal with delectable food, I for one will definitely be making a return in the future!

We’ve eaten and drank over many times over the years, as we’re regulars to the area. It’s always been good and the staff have been friendly. Hence why we decided to go on Friday. It got off to a rocky start. We’d booked a table of three in advance, specifically asking to sit outside. When we got there, the front of house showed us to a small table, which would have been a real squeeze for three people and a dog. He reluctantly moved us to a more appropriate sized table. He then proceeded to be pretty obnoxious the rest of the evening. He stood on the front door like a bouncer, to the extent he didn’t move when you walked in, so you had to walk around him. The rest of the staff were great and friendly. Food was decent enough. You expect more from the front of house, especially when you’re paying £150+.

Several times we have walked past the King and Queen pub with every intention of having a meal in there. Yesterday was the day. Was happy with the seating outside, the staff were friendly and quickly took our order. I chose the Sunday roast pork, my Wife the haddock and chips with mushy peas. The meals arrived in good time. However, this is where the good experience ends. The roast potatoes were very well done on the cusp of being burnt. The pork was so so, certainly nothing to boast about. And the vegetables not really any better (I had to ask for the vegetables as they weren't brought out with my meat dish)!! The only thing I will say is the crackling was very nice but for nearly ÂŁ17 I was very disappointed. My Wife's haddock was tasteless and oily, and she did say for less cost she's had a better fish and chips. We were very surprised to see they'd added on a service fee, which we did pay but incredibly reluctantly. Our first and last visit. Never again

Been before a few times, with no problems. Unfortunately, this time the young guy who worked there dropped the tray of drinks all over the table in the food and over my friends son. Obviously, this was an accident and can’t be helped, we actually felt sorry for the lad. When he bought the replacement drinks over, instead of the Peroni I had ordered, he brought a bottle of already opened San Miguel, telling me that’s all we got left is that ok? Didn’t even bother to ask me first. Then when it came to pay, we were told they wouldn’t charge for the bowl of food which got covered in drink. But they had to be reminded about that as it was still on the bill. As well as the £20 service charge !! Which at the very least should have been deducted. Pretty annoyed about that to be honest but we let it go because we do like going there. Not the best customer service that night I’m afraid .

Changed course. This used to be the pub known affectionately amongst yacht crews as the rum and launderette pub. These days it is a sedate, smart, fine dining restaurant without any atmosphere. If you want a reasonably priced beer, straight from the yacht, still in sailing kit that has actually been worn on a boat and not be frightened to have a laugh with your crew and enjoy a fun atmosphere, there is a proper pub two doors down. If you want a quiet, well mannered candle lit overpriced dinner, away from rowdy yacht crews, this is the place for you. I enjoyed the best of both worlds. I visited in March, i had an overpriced beer, discovered they wouldn’t be showing the 6 Nations on T.V, booked a table for dinner, went two doors down for an amazing atmosphere and returned for a nice refined dinner. The service was attentive, i could hear myself think, the meal was perfectly cooked and well presented. I will definitely be back again soon, but not with a yacht crew of 10 😁. By the way, I must admit i was a little disappointed that a South African run pub doesn’t sell biltong or boerewors. 9/10

Out for a walk and needed some lunch, figured we'd pop into the King and Queen as it always looks nice from the outside. It looks nice on the inside too. However, I wish I hadn't bothered. We ordered two burgers at ÂŁ16.50 each, a...

Very poor menu selection. Asked for some bread and was provided with what looked like a quarter of a baguette which they cut up. Shocked to be charged ÂŁ5. Fish and chips was good, but the mushy peas was something I have never before. Like...

Had Sunday lunch at The King & Queen. Very tasty with lean fat free meats along with friendly staff and good atmosphere. Perfect, definitely will be going back there to enjoy again.

Couldn’t give a higher rating, unfortunately, as we waited outside at the barrier which says ‘wait to be seated’ in the rain but no one came outside to let us in. This pub is still enforcing very strict covid rules. We were disappointed as we’ve...

Came here for Sunday lunch today. Had a roast (beef, pork and lamb). Beef was chewy, pork was a tiny sliver and all fatty. Vegetables on the side were clearly nuked in the microwave - watery and tasteless. The gravy was just like Bisto. No...

Came back to the king and queen after several lovely visits earlier in the year and was truly disappointed. While the food was outstanding as always (while being on the pricier side); the service has gone down hill. What happened to all the old staff?...

Have been here many times in the past but not for a while. Came for a drink to meet up with a friend. Always a nice chilled vibe here. Nice ambience. Seating inside or outside. Inside tends to be nice and cozy. The toilet is located downstairs. There is a little area to sit down a level at the back of the pub too. Parking is down in the main village car park. Friendly staff who are very attentive and helpful. Do like a visit here. Been too long!

I always liked going here for a lunch & coffee. But it seems inflation has hit the prices hard & it is no longer worth the price, in my opinion. Coffee still good & OK price.
