I recently came here for my first meal out since breaking my foot. Managed to hobble over there for 9:05pm, sat down, had my friend go over to the bar to open when we were told the kitchen was closed now, which was around 9:10pm. Checked the boards and it says 9:30pm but I know, as worked in restaurants before, that kitchens might shut 10-15 minutes prior. I tweeted them and they responded, asking me to message them directly. After that, nothing else as couldn't DM them, and I felt disappointed in that service. I would have expected the kitchen to be open but perhaps if people sit down, a server can just let you know if its closed sooner than the 15 min cut off time.I enjoy coming this place as it's my local so felt disappointed.

Able to make reservations online, which helped.Easy to find, staff was helpful and although it wasn’t full when we arrived by the time we were leaving it was getting busier.A couple decent beers on tap which we were happy to see.Food tasted good and we were pleased. They were out of a couple menu items, Which they announced right away and that is appreciated.Would recommend if you are in the area and want to be sure you can get a table, this place is worth it.

Estábamos bajando de Nottingham visitando nuestra nieta y estábamos tan contentos que ella llevó a su 'local' para el almuerzo. La decoración es un poco básico, pero el ambiente era agradable y animada, con mascotas, niños y personas de todas las edades recibieron con entusiasmo la igualdad por el personal maravilloso. Una joya que es este lugar! Llegamos a una hora muy concurrida para comer el domingo sin reserva pero nos encontraron una mesa a pesar de que el restaurante estaba casi lleno. La comida era excelente y sirve enseguida. La tuerca vegetariana asado era increíble y el asado de los domingos es legendario en el área. Nunca he visto un enorme pudines yorkshire! Espero que no pase mucho antes de que se pueden visitar allí. ¡Me encantó!

Considering its location you would never expect this little hidden gem to serve such an incredible Sunday Lunch! I was so impressed by the quality of food, general vibe, Decor and overall service that it has now become my favourite hot spot for a Sunday Roast! The dessert menu is to die for, its great for socialising, families and dogs and plays live music on random nights! Simply has everything under one roof! The Kennington I Salute Thee :)

Food was amazing. We had Thai red curry, a burger & a Shepard pie. All were 10/10. Bar staff really friendly. Really nice inside & outside seating. Generally just a lovely place to be

Fuimos a este pub que está muy cerca de mí y a diez minutos a pie (si eso) de la estación de oval, muy bien ubicado.Me senté en una mesa con mi compañero para probar su almuerzo de domingo que ofrece.Tuve el pollo y la carne que tenía.Ambos llegó rápidamente y eran deliciosos, con todos los adornos jugosas!El personal era amable y servicial, y el pub en sí tiene un ambiente muy cálido y acogedor.La única decepción fue que el ', el personal del bar que parecía estar dedicado a ese trabajo, y obviamente fue evitado mi mirada cuando yo estaba buscando alguien que me traiga otra media pinta.En general, una experiencia agradable.Sin duda volveremos.

Cuando en Londres siempre tratamos de visitar este pub para uno de sus excelentes comidas y servicio amable de pub. Tienen pantallas de deporte, pero no son lo suficientemente sensibles para hacerles dominan a menos que realmente es un gran acontecimiento. Vimos el rugby aquí! El personal es siempre amable y la comida de calidad. A mi experiencia es bastante raro en Londres.

Kennington Pub is close to The Oval cricket ground. It is always busy during a test match. Today was no exception. However, the food and service was, as usual, excellent. Despite being very busy, my meal and drinks were delivered to my table very quick.

Nice place for an outdoor drink but also inside is very clean and cosy. Friendly staff and good beers. I live locally and this is one of the best pub to go for in the area.

Not a regular, but I have eaten here several times and it never disappoints. Getting busier each time so you are advised to reserve a table for Sunday lunch which is delicious

Nice ambiance, good food and drinks. The owners have made it my preferred place to go for an easy relaxed eatery nearby. Music could be a bit less loud.

Dos amigos y yo nos detuvimos en un almuerzo de domingo y algunas bebidas. Nos recibieron con una sonrisa amable y muy bienvenido. El personal del bar eran geniales, como las damas hermoso joven que esperamos en nuestra mesa.

Vine aquí para un asado los domingos, que era bastante sabrosa y enorme. Vienen con hambre! Buen ambiente y un personal amable. Algunos asientos en el exterior, que está junto a la carretera, pero aún así, bastante agradable en el sol.

Aparecimos para comer y quedamos gratamente sorprendidos por la gran comida y excelente servicio. Pasamos la sopa del día como aperitivo (la mejor sopa de pescado que he probado en mucho tiempo) y pollo frito pan de mama. La comida estaba bien presentada y un sabor delicioso. No tienen espacio para el postre, pero la que vi en la mesa de al lado hizo que mi boca agua. No tengo mi perro conmigo pero contento de ver unos cuatro amigos de cuatro patas con sus propietarios y sin duda volveremos. 10 de 10 en todos los frentes!!

I've visited here twice now, once on a quiz night which was one of the strangest but best quizzes I've been to - in a good way of course! The other time we stopped here for a pint and had the mezze board to share between 2 and it was really filling. Lots of seats outside the front if its a nice day. The staff are really friendly and we'll definitely be back.

Living just around the corner from the Kennington it is my local. But recently it is going down hill, the food has been medoca for a while. I went for a drink had two cocktails not good. Then today ordered a G and T Sixsmith, the Tonic was out of the drink mixer, no bottle only the cheap option. That is the problem cut costs and people notice. Avoid it is on the slope down.

Having visited the Kennington several times with my husband and baby and never being disappointed with the quality of food or service,I decided to host my mothers and babies meet up there. We were not disappointed. Service was excellent and food was delicious. I would highly recommend this place for any families in the area.

Really nice atmosphere (even though the football was on!) and the staff were attentive. There is a nice section at the back with board games etc- very good fun. Food was well-priced and really delicious.

This is our local pub and we visit for drinks mainly. Sometimes we also have food. The hamburgers are beautiful, they are big, coming with a nice side of chips and the staff helps you timely in a very professional and friendly way.

The Sunday Roasts are huge for the price and it's great that they have a vegetarian version too! The downside is that the quality can vary so much. Last time I went the meal felt like it had been kept warm rather than being fresh! The vegetables were cold and half cooked, the Yorkshire pudding dry and chewy- I couldn't even cut it with my knife - and the nut roast was really dry! It's such a shame, because when it is done right the meal can be fantastic

Had the best Sunday roast! Good food and great atmosphere. A place for families or couples. Can't wait to go back there!Hooray!

Booked lunch for my mother in laws 70th birthday, 18 people, always a worry with such a big partyThere was no need, the whole team went out of their way to make the afternoon special, food was delicious, not 1 negative comment from any of the party.A big thank you and we won`t hesitate in recommending to anyone.

Second visit this evening. Great atmosphere and service. Will be back! Fishcake starter very good as was fish and chips nd the salmon special. No tables when we got there but waiter moved a single guy (next to two girls at the bar) to make space for our table of 4. He also recommended delicious wine.

Food was good this time. The vegetables are sometimes cold. It looks like the boss was not around today and the service was so slow. One waitress spent half of her time chatting to 4 annoyingly loud blokes instead of tending to customers needs.

Came here for the quiz on Sunday at 8pm. Definitely agree this place is aimed at a younger crowd - when we entered, the lights were low, a disco ball was spinning and the music was loud enough to warrant shouting across the table to be heard. The quizmastet was great - really enthusiastic, had some hilarious dance moves and good questions. The big plate of "mystery leftover food" served to each table at half tine was, well, mysterious... Would recommend if you want a full-on Sunday evening; avoid if you're feeling a little more delicate like we were!

TOP TIP: this place is really aimed at the younger crowd, so visit with that in mind. That said, it was lively, friendly and great value. A well kept place. I booked a table on a Saturday evening to celebrate my brother's birthday, though I was fully aware of the big football match being shown at the same time. The staff gave us seat a little away from the crowds and though our 'neighbours' were a little noisy at first, they were also very courteous and good humoured. The staff were really good and helpful and quick. The food was delicious and great value, don't miss the fried fish, loads of it and excellent quality and served with a good portion of chips etc. Other dishes looked equally pleasing. The salty caramel ice-cream was brilliant, well worth ordering (I've had it elsewhere and it's been awful) This places has a really pleasant buzz and we enjoyed our visit. We will go back even if we are old for this place

This pub used to be a bit of a dump, but today it is a smart, classy pub with great food.With a party of four we all had a three course lunch. I started with the Scotch Egg, something I would not usually eat, but this was home made, the egg was still runny and it came on a bed of green leaves: delicious. My friends also complimented the soup of the day (which changes daily) and the hummus.Main courses included the steak and chips, the daily pie, which today was beef & stilton, and the sausage and mash, all of which were delicious.But for me the best part of the meal was dessert, and the banoffee pie was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted, apparently it is made from a secret recipe!Apart the regular, but changing menu, there is lunch dishes for £5 an daily specials.A large selection of beers, large screens showing sport on the weekend, reasonable priced drinks, great food and a beautiful decorated bar, you would think you were in one of London's more trendier districts.Well worth a visit.

Went here on a monday night where they half half price bottle of house wine and 2 4 1 cocktails. We had the beef burgers and handcut chips which were juicy and everything a burger should be and played jenga on the couches. The staff were polite and jovial and we will defintely be back. The Kennington is one of our locals and great for a few chilled beers and even better for a cracking Sunday roast followed by the quiz. Great menu, solid selection of beers and a really nice vibe. Whatever you do, don't judge the calibre of food on 'Elvira's Deep Fried Delights' - go to the quiz and you'll know what I mean...

The kennington is right behind my work so I'm a regular, but I thought I'd write a review because they massively deserve it! The staff are always friendly, chatty, and welcoming, right down to the small detail of bringing you a dog treat and water bowl if you have a canine friend in tow! The refit they did last year has made the pub feel cosy but modern, and I love the board games and cosy corner - it's very hard to leave once you're situated there! There are good drinks and food offers through the week and the food has been consistently good when I have eaten here. It's an overall charmer of a pub, and by far the best in this area of London.

Great deal here on a Saturday night for steak and wine! Went for birthday dinner with about 15 people and food was delicious. Only downsides are the big screens showing football (fine if one of them wasn't behind our table, which meant people were staring over our heads) and the kitchen is too small to cook for a whole party of 15 at once. Overall minor issues - it's a great pub!

Love this place! Been there a few times now and the place is great, just what SE london needs more of!! The food has always been fantastic, great staff and the clients that frequent The Kennington make the place. Recently i Asked if i could charge my phone as i ran out of battery and the girl behind the bar was more than happy to charge it for me. It these kind of small things that set The Kennington out from the crowd. The ONLY fault i could have with it was the football being shown there. Today was the Liverpool and Man U game. Football games don't attract the regular crowd you would want and there are enough regulars and locals looking to get away from football to warrant not showing games.... The large group of guys there were becoming a pain in the backside and were starting to get lippy with a group of other guys supporting the other team (standing in another part of the bar) , none of us need that nonsense with our sunday lunch, just a thought....Other than that, i will be back again and again
