The Junction in Ashfield

We came here for Mother's Day (Sunday lunch). Usually the food here is nice, and the service is usually so-so. The owners should be embarrassed at how poor their staff were yesterday. Rude, surly, no knowledge of what they actually had in their hands, and generally 'can't be bothered / do not want to be here'. I suggest if the wait staff don't want to be there, replace them. Chicken roast was nice although the Yorkshire puddings were raw. The Roast Beef was over cooked and dry All the veg was luke warm (although there was plenty of it). One dessert returned, not only was it shop bought (obvious), it was dry and inedible. Sent it back (it was however still on the bill). Half a teaspoon of ice cream with them. Had to ask for the table (after mains) to be cleared after a good 30 mins. Had to ask for dessert menus after waiting so long for someone to come back, had to ask for dessert spoons (was given one TEASPOON out for 5 people needing them). Those would had cheesecake ate it with the starter fork. One of the cheesecake was half missing compared to the others. It will be a long time before any of us return - maybe then if the staff are replaced.

Just had Sunday lunch and I have to say compared to previous times visiting this pub today was by far the worst visit we’ve had. We had roast beef which came out warm not hot we only had 1 half slice of beef on the plate… service was not good either no one came to ask how the meals were, we were left with our dirty plates for over 40 minutes before asking if we’d like dessert, my daughter had the brownie which was dry as anything certainly not anywhere near what the price suggested. Again no one came to ask if everything was ok and we then had to wait another 30 minutes after finishing for the bill…. The bill came and the deposit we’d paid had not been took off. All in all very disappointing for a Mother’s Day outing !!!

This pub has really gone down hill since it changed hands. The food was poor with vegetables only luke warm the Yorkshire puddings almost raw and the service terrible. We were going to have desert but the service was so slow we didnt bother and customers at another table were sending theirs back. Don't waste your money I certainly won't be going again. This used to be the pub with the best food around.

Visited the junction tonight with my family and granddaughter. The customer service was disgraceful, and the staff had no patience. The food was dry and had very little taste. We weren't asked if we needed anything, if the food was okay, nor if we required anything else. We had to get up for the pudding menu, order the pudding and ask for the bill. When we asked for a take away box, the staff member was hesitant. There where 2 staff members on and only us and another table in and customer service was poor.

Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. Perfect for a drink or dinner. Only called in for a quick drink and stayed for dinner. Highly recommend.

The manager is on drugs and sleeps with underage staff, awful attitudes and people in general. Owner never seen and issues are brushed under the carpet. Unclean and awfully ran. Business is running into the ground and the owner won’t take responsibility. Absolitely shocking attempt at running a pub.

Went with family for a birthday celebration, we had a large group of 20 booked in. We pre ordered our food the week before and everything ran like clockwork. The food all came out at the same time, everyone said their meal was really nice and the staff were fantastic. Couldn't fault anything and we will definitely be back

Went for Xmas Dinner will not be going back in a hurry,had prawn and crayfish cocktail for starters a bit more seafood would have been nice no side plate to spread butter on bread had to do it on the table,turkey dinner was not good,roast potatoes not cooked were so hard knife wouldn't go through them,Yorkshire pudding just crumbled into bits so couldn't eat that ,Brussels were so overcooked they were mushy,had Xmas pudding with brandy sauce which was awful ,was not brandy sauce. Definitely not worth 75pounds.

As a slimmer and vegetarian there wasn't any option for me at Sunday dinner only the cheese dish full of pastry nice, but I don't like mash or Yorkshire pudding fattening not sure if veg had butter or oil on them and calories on menu would of been nice in these times as friends invited us here I didn't like to fuss to much 😋

What’s happened to this pub/ restaurant? Down hill is an under statement. Staff are disinterested at best. Waited 25 min for a meal that was ok but not worth the money. Waited for staff to take a pudding order. But they were busy chatting at the bar. I finally went to bar to order , disappointed to see some were not even available. My young son did order a brownie and ice cream, he ate some but said it was terrible. Waited for service to order more drinks. It never came. So again went to bar to order. You might think it was very busy so this is why service is slow. But we were a table of 3 . The only other table in the eating area was a table of 2. So disappointed with this. The junction was a vibrant local pub with basic but good food. Not any more. Go elsewhere

Sunday lunch menu at The Junction is a table d'hôte roast dinner with a choice of 4 meat and one vegetarian option, not much to go wrong there you might think. Ordered 4 x meals exactly as offered on the menu but they managed to get one meat selection wrong. Further, we had to ask for vegetables which, when they came were very nice, but with 2 baby corn, two pieces of leek and some green beans we expected another dish to follow, but no. The vegetarian meal arrived without stuffing or Yorkshire pudding. When queried the reason given was "the stuffing contains meat"! Curious. No mention of the missing Yorkshire. After 10 minutes or so we had the "is everything OK with your meals?" Our honest answer fell on deaf ears because when paying I got the same question again, "was everything OK with your meals?". We can't claim to be regulars, this was our first visit and, problems aside, the meals (if they'd been complete) were reasonably good value. However, given the generally good reviews I expected a better experience.

Awful food. The Junction used to be amazing, I haven't been since before covid and was shocked at the drop in quality of the food, yet the prices were higher. It has changed hands in management and you can definitely tell. We will never be back here to pay for crap quality food at top prices. Mash was flavourless, roast potatoes were squishy, the meat in the pie was stringy and fatty. Absolutely awful. Before this we would have recommended them to anyone, but now we will be advising people against it.

If you're going to attempt to walk in as two on a Friday at 8pm with a restaurant that looked basically empty for somewhere that looks genuinely nice, don't bother going here as staff will just turn you away. Worked in hospitality for nearly 15 years and the only time I ever turned away a table of two is when I literally had no room to fit them in my restaurant. Unbelievably poor. First experience there and would've been a regular if the food and service had been as nice as looks on the internet. Don't see the point of returning and will be informing others not to bother either.

We came here with friends for a catch up and had a very enjoyable meal The staff were friendly and helpful and very welcoming It was red hot inside but we sat by a window so it was ok Top tip there is a dog friendly part by the bar We were a bit concerned as on the website it states you can only have the table for 2 hours which honestly is not enough time for a catch up and a three course meal - we were chatting for at least an hour before we even thought about ordering food so this very nearly stopped me booking and is something I don’t like as a rule - but it wasn’t busy so we stayed for 4 hours ( we drank lots so spent plenty ) the staff were lovely and very attentive and super friendly ( short haired blonde lady especially) The food was fantastic Homemade lasagne with salad Rump of lamb with fresh vegetables Sticky toffee pudding Cornflakes tart Reasonable prices The only negative was the beer was flat so either a problem with how it’s kept or the glasses need replacing Overall I will definitely visit again Everything was tasty tender

We have been going to this pub for 40 years and have never seen service this bad and that’s saying something because it must have changed hands a dozen times. Sunday lunch arrived with no veg. After five minutes asked if we had to order veg separately and was told “oh sorry we forgot” 5minutes later some very soggy sorry looking veg appeared. No apologies no reduction in price and staff couldn’t care less. If this place is still open in 6 months time I will be amazed

Went for lunch on the 21st June, Last time I went the liver and onions was great, so me and my two colleagues decided to have this again, that’s where the similarities ended, Two new staff I think, ordered the drinks and coffee, took 10 minutes to get the drinks and all the order was incorrect and the coffee was stone cold, Went back to the counter explained to the girl the issues, said I will get you a new coffee, I told her we are in a hurry and could we order the food, completely ignored me and went off to make a new hot coffee, 5 minutes later it arrived, Said can I place the food as we are tight for time, will come over in a few minutes to take your order, said just 3 liver and onions and we are in a hurry, ignored again and continued to be busy doing nothing, Finally took my order, 3 liver and onions , one with chips and the other two with mash, not difficult you would think, 45 minutes later arrived, last time we had it great 3 large pieces of liver and lots of gravy, This time 1 piece of liver cut into 3 and tiny and guess what they all had mash forgot the chips, Overall appalling service and the quality and portion size was a joke I will never go this place again, Rubbish.

Just called on spec. Had a fantastic meal. Very reasonably priced and the food was very tasty and look forward to our next return.
