The Jetty, Ocean Village in Southampton

The food was excellent and the waitresses (when they got to us) were charming: polite, smiling, helpful. However, for a restaurant of this calibre and cost, the service was slow. We felt ignored at our table and had to call the maitre d' to take our drinks order - this after a good 10 mins of being at the table. He was somewhat disdainful (or perhaps that was just my perception, I was cross by then!) and no apology. The drinks order took a long time to come - 10 to 15 mins. When we'd been waiting so long already this was really irritating - I wouldn't mind waiting for the food so long as we had drinks to nurse! The restaurant was busy but there were plenty of empty covers. The table itself was dirty - crumbs and a wodge of sticky food at my place. If there had been white tablecloths they would have noticed, but the tables are just bare wood. My grandson who works at another 5 star hotel in Christchurch said that it would have taken him 2 minutes to get 1 beer, 1 spritzer and 1 glass of wine to the table. We had 6 oysters, 2 cheese souffles, a duck and chicken mains & 1 sticky toffee pud. All of them delicious. Total cost £154.35. Hmmm. Not sure that I'd call it value for money considering the slow service.

Enjoyed Sunday lunch with Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding and all the rest of the traditional trimmings. My companions had Fish n Chips. Can't recall what the others had for dessert, but I had ice-cream. All xnt quality and quantity.

Fabulous lunch in The Jetty, perfect start to a cruise. The twice baked cheese soufflé is a must when you visit, staff very attentive and friendly. Great restaurant within a great hotel.

Wow! We ate here for my husband’s 50th birthday whilst staying at this beautiful hotel. We had the 8 course tasting menu and it was fantastic. Staff were amazing. Quite pricey but we would definitely recommend here for a special occasion.

Barry was absolutely amazing throughout… what can I say….This was the first time my partner and I had visited and he made us feel completely welcome throughout. Nothing was too much of an ask for him, he is talented in his knowledge of wines and made us feel completely at home. I must say he is an asset to the company. Myself, my wife and sister sat outside and after 5 minutes our drinks order was taken. The ladies sat near us also had their order taken and so did a couple sat opposite us. The ladies and the couple received their drinks soon after. We patiently waited and then after 25 minutes my wife went to the bar to remind them we were waiting. After another 10 minutes the waiter who took our order asked the couple if they would like to order more drinks and it must have been clear to him that we still had no drinks. We waited another couple of minutes and then we decided to leave. I saw the waiter on the way out and explained to him why we were leaving. He did not attempt to rectify the situation and instead just apologised as we left. On the whole a very shoddy service

Stunning view in a nice, sunny weather. Love the starter bits, in particular smoked salmon with caviar and small fried fish. I ordered the seasonal "local produce" menu. The starter tempura soft shell crab and sea fried vegetables was cooked in Asian style. A big spicy for me. Main was pan fried sea bass fillet. It was good. The surprise was Lemon souffle with limoncello sauce which was really good.

We arrived a little early so sat at the lounge my partner pointed a bottle of wine out on the menu which we had two of through the night they took it upon themselves to give us a more expensive bottle so that was a nice surprise when we got the bill , I sent an email as it was my partners birthday and we took our daughter, I requested a table outside when seated outside the table wasn’t made up and it was grubby the service is a 3/10 at best the was nice even though my main was cold probably another service issue . This restaurant is no where near a 5 star there are so many better places to dine in Southampton and I really think that the service staff and front of house need to severely up there game

Service at the start was a little slow, seemed to get forgotten whilst waiting for a drink. However once seated we were served by Christine who was excellent and really turned our experience around. Food wise was good but possibly wished we had gone for catch of the day rather than from the main menu. Acknowledging our Anniversary at the end was a nice touch

Me and my partner returned to this hotel after staying there last year, we have to say the bar staff are so attentive and very charismatic, we spent most of our evening sat at the bar watching the expertly made drinks by Marco & Zac who kept us entertained Would definitely recommend having lunch at the Jetty, or just a causal few drinks

Wow!! This was a really lovely and memorable evening. Made so much more so by restaurant manager Barrie, who couldn’t have been more fabulous. Food is excellent, beautifully presented and so delicious. We were lucky enough to eat in one of the jetty pods and were made to feel really special by Barrie. Service was spectacular, nothing was too much trouble. I have no doubt we’ll be returning very soon.

The standard of food and service at this hotel based restaurant continues to just blow me away. We chose the Mini Gastro menu, and decided this time to enjoy the wine pairing offered too. Absolutely stunning, delicious food, presented beautifully, and we just couldn't fault it. The service was excellent, and the wine pairing was amazing. Can't wait to visit again.
