We had to book well in advance due to covid you are not allowed onto island without a booking. Staff were nice and welcoming when you get there. I think they are going for shabby chic look everything different, kind of basic, it must be due to covid that there are nothing on the tables we even had to ask for salt and pepper. Service was good, menu was usual fare for kids nothing different. Usual menu options steak/chips/fish pies, no vegan options, one vegetarian goats cheese which I had, goats cheese was way too much, salad was standard not even a sprinkle of dressing, felt like it was all just thrown on plate. The steak was good cooked well. However the desserts stole the show, the mint cheesecake was really good, fresh and light and the kids loved the brownies. Prices usual that you’d find anywhere. Nice relaxing meal overall.

Such a shame. We came here last year and it was much better. The menu was limited and everything was fried. Opted for the Caesar salad, soggy lettuce and dry chicken - not particularly appetizing. Our waiter was miserable which did not improve the experience. A beautiful setting, but would not return to eat.

My wife and I had booked a weekend in Fermanagh as a birthday treat, starting with a meal at Lusty Beg. The meal had been booked for the restaurant and we were both looking forward to it, having eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Upon arrival, we were advised there was a wedding party and we would have to eat in the bar area. Not a huge inconvenience, so we took our seat at a table, prepared to make the best of it. Whilst seated we realised that the bar area is dog friendly, when a couple sat on the sofas 6 feet from us with a large dog in attendance. The dog was generally well behaved, however he was up and down off the sofa and moving about the floor area around the sofa. I have absolutely no issue with a venue being dog friendly, but we had booked the restaurant, expecting a nice relaxing evening. At no time were we advised of the wedding party and therefore we would be eating in the bar, or the fact that the bar was dog friendly, either at the time of booking, or upon our arrival. We didn’t bother to complain as it was too late to start finding an alternative venueTo top it off, the food was very disappointing. We both had the seafood chowder as a starter, which we both enjoyed, however the same could not be said of the main. I ordered the lamb shank with mash and when served the mash had quite clearly been microwaved. The mash had the usual microwave ‘skin’ on it and there were several hard lumps through it. The plan had been to stay and have a few drinks, however, we just paid the bill and left. Overall a hugely disappointing experience. The food was of a poor standard and if only we had been advised at the time of booking that we would be eating in the bar area due to the wedding, it would at least have given us a choice to book elsewhere or warned us.Sadly we will not be returning to Lusty Beg, it put a real dampener on the first night of our weekend.

We were staying at Lusty Beg for two nights with friends from England. We opted to book a table and eat in the restaurant on both nights. The staff were lovely, but unfortunately the food was awful on both nights!! Soggy batter on strong tasting fish, watery sea food chowder and a goats cheese tart with extremely hard pastry! Altogether two bad experiences! If we return we will not eat in the restaurant!

Visited the lusty beg one Sunny Sunday , as expected it was very busy .. myself and my partner had booked a table for 5:30pm, when arrived it was complete disaster, left standing waiting looking like lost dogs in the middle of the restaurant as every waiter walked by and ignored us , when seen to we were told that we didn’t book a table for 5:30 as they only take bookings from 6pm onwards. However, even though I spoke to a individual on the phone who said “yes 5:30 is perfect” and took note of our name and number? Once seated at a dirty table we ordered drinks (which never came) and had to ask 3 times for them to come. The food arrived which was not what I had ordered .. the man apologised but still no drinks, finally the drinks came towards and end of our dinner .. after hearing fabulous reviews from the lusty beg I could not believe the service In this restaurant.. appalling. I understand pressure is on when it is busy but it’s not acceptable

When crossing boarder of IE - NI (which was difficult to realize ) a short drive and we found crossing Lower Erne lake area and noticed a small sign turn right where was lot of people (by bus) waiting for transit over lake into island named Boa Island. The name of it was enough exotic for us to study little that place. After crossing over by very small ferry (max. 2 small cars) we went into this Restaurant , Lusty Beg, and were quite surprised of this place. Friendly staff came at once and told that we could choose the table free. Enjoyed boat beed and fish, so could taste to compare. We really liked and price was not too high, especially when we have changed (too much) pounds for our journey (most of spends payed by euros).

We were staying nearby and had been told this was the closest place to eat. Also, it sounded lovely, being on an island, and the little ferry over is a novelty - good start, beautiful location. It was a warm evening, and there were a lot of tables outside, but they were - without exception - filthy. Empty glasses and ashtrays etc. But a warm sunny evening in Fermanagh is a rare thing, and the tables are near the shore, so we chose the least dirty table and sat down.Firstly, we were informed if we wanted to eat outside we would have to pre-pay as they didn't bring bills outside. The menu seemed ok - the standard fare. It was useful that the menu listed all allergens beside each dish as I am on a health-related diet and there wasn't much I could eat apart from seabass with asparagus, with a side of market vegetables. When the meals arrived my order was wrong - no vegetables and the fish was on a bed of mash, and I can't currently eat either potatoes or butter. I wasn't going to go into all this with the waiter, but just said that wasn't what I ordered, and where were the vegetables (I could have just left the mash). He didn't apologise, but looked annoyed, and said he'd go and ask in the kitchen. I was astounded that when he came back he argued and said that I had made a mistake, I hadn't ordered vegetables!!! Are you serious??? I said that no, the kitchen or the person who took the order had made a mistake, and had to repeat this a couple of times before he decided that I would stick to my ground. Still no apology, but he said he'd go an place a new order for vegetables (one that it looked as if he would charge me for), I said no, as we didn't have much time - because I knew I'd be in for another wrangling session, and by that time had little confidence that they had the basics of customer service. So I had rather greasy fish, which wasn't great, with three asparagus spears, for which I had already paid £14.95. No-one finished their meal as none of the dishes were particularly good. There's no excuse for this failure of service, other that you get lazy because you have a captive market. I'd have asked for management to sort it out if I hadn't had to rush away. And it's a shame because the setting is really lovely.

As only place on the island was unsure what to expect, on the first night, nice starter of mussels which could easily been a main course given the portion so should have known what to expect for the main which was fish and chips, i have never in my life never been able not to finish a meal but this was it the first time, fish was delicious and tasted so fresh and "proper" chips to go with it, i had to leave part of the fish given the size. The next evening went for steak which i asked for rare and again was spot on but given portion size couldn't manage a dessert. Staff were first class, food excellent and price surprisingly given only restaurant was very reasonable. Would highly recommend a visit to the restaurant, will not be disappointed.

Had very high expectations about this place from reviews. It looks beautiful in photos... we booked to stay 2 nights in the courtyard over February half term. Extremely disappointed and quite frankly a waste of time and money! The island is beautiful but the courtyard is a definite NO NO. The room was absolutely roasting we kept windows open the entire time we were there as it was beyond stuffy! Couldn’t sleep at all. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, in the bathroom the windows weren’t frosted and completely see through and no curtain! We had dinner in the restaurant (that we booked at reception) we arrived to be told we weren’t booked in, the lady who served us had no personality we felt like we were nearly annoying her by ordering our food. I ordered Pâté and toast for my starter - no taste at all! I ordered chicken strips and chips with BBQ sauce - only nice thing was the sauce! The restaurant had no atmosphere so the following night we left the island and went into Kesh and had a much nicer meal. We used the spa facility which was lovely. I won’t be returning but if anyone would like to go I would advise NOT to stay in the courtyard.

A few variety of people in the restaurant we got our order taken and sat down. The staff were amazing so friendly, kind and helpful. Our starters were beautiful chicken wings so crispy with a beautiful bbq sauce and my other half had the garlic bread. For main i went for the carbonara with chicken and bacon. You dont need a side altho there all so tempting. The portion size of mine was massize and my other hals classic burger was really big too. Id no room for dessert which was a pity as they looked delicious but maybe next time. I will defibetly be back.

A restaurant in a small resort on an island in beautiful Lower Lough Erne. It involved crossing to the island on a rusty barge which emitted smelly diesel fumes. There is no place for elderly people to sit on the barge. The island and its buildings are attractive and the restaurant looks pleasant inside. We were six friends, looking for a simple lunch, and we had a window seat with a good view of the lake. Four of us had seafood chowder, which was delicious, but the menu had promised 'guinness bread' as an accompaniment. It arrived, only after two reminders, after we had finished the chowder. We were given one mug of vegetable soup (to share?) as a compensation. My partner was assured, when ordering, that he could have salad instead of chips with his kidney-bean hamburger but it arrived with the chips and no salad in sight! Another member of our party asked for a green salad with no rocket. He received a little ramekin of coleslaw! Also he had ordered a glass of white wine with his meal but it didn't arrive until we were paying the bill! The service was so amateurish as to be amusing so it didn't spoil our fun.

I thought the place lacked atmosphere, a bit too canteen like, formica table , no table clothes, paper servettes, maybe I am getting a bit picky in my old age!! Service was very slow and used a lot of youths, who did what I thought was the minimum to get by. They would lift empty plates from the table beside you, but not see yours needed lifted as well. You had to call them over for everything, they were not attentive. There was one older waiter who was very good. Bill for two starters, two mains, pre drinks and bottle of wine was £60, so pretty good value.

Lovely staff but I can definitely confirm that the food served in this restaraunt spoiled my entire lusty beg experience over the 12-13th of March 2017, on the first night we were told to book as it can get busy, so we did. We arrived to a less than half full room and we're greeted by a lovely waitress, she took our starter orders and we waited over 30 minutes for those, they were nothing special but we were starving so we were glad to see them arriving, we then waited over 50 minutes for our main, the lovely waitress noticed this without us having to ask and apologied and offered us a free drink as way of apology, when the main came it can only be compared to a curry you might get from a £1 ready meal with greasy greasy popadoms, I wound up eating only the chips and some of the chicken, we also wound up with an ice cold slimey burger. Obviously at this stage it was 9:40 and we didn't want to risk waiting another hour for dessert so we cut our losses and went back to our room a bit raging that we had spent over 30 quid on this disappointment but not wanting to complain any further as the waiting staff were very nice and apologetic . Breakfast the next day was cold and greasy and we arrived at 8.30am.... so it should have been warm. We opted against having lunch there but that evening we decided to give the bar another chance, i ordered a burger club sandwich, as I bit in to it greasy water oozed out of the burger which cost over a tenner, for a watery burger with a few slices of bread. I wound up removing the burger patties and again just eating the chips and the sides we had ordered with one of the slices of bread. After dinner I ordered an Americano and asked for a jug of milk, at the time I was chatting to my fiancé and poured the milk in and drank it without looking, when I tasted it, it compeletely turned me, I looked down and the coffee was full of ROTTEN lumps of sour milk..:: milk that had been so old that it was lumpy..... what a let down his place is..:: and with no other shops or restaraunts on the island they think they can just serve whatever complete rubbish they like as people have no other choice, I am devastated that I spent over £70 on the two of us in that restaraunt over two days. The lumpy coffee was removed off my bill, and the guy behind The bar was lovely and very apologetic, I would never usually write a bad review, but my experience was dire. I'm actually wondering if there is even a real chef in the kitchen. For an area of such outstanding beauty you expect the only food establishment to have exceptional food, Im now glad to be home, I have never in my life been glad to come home from a relaxing weekend away.

We dined in the bar twice during our two night stay in Lusty Beg. The first evening we both chose the chicken burger with chips along with a cocktail each. The ambience of the bar was lovely, with the fires roaring and the wind blowing outside. It was very cosy and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and friendly, so we were well looked after. Our chicken burgers were absolutely delicious, all very fresh ingredients and apparently all local which made it even better. Our cocktails were strong, but very, very tasty. We finished by sharing a browning sundae which was absolutely lovely, would highly recommend! We enjoyed pour meal so much we agreed to come again the next night for a steak. We both ordered the sirloin steak, which came with chips and string beans. We again, ordered more cocktails. The steak was genuinely one of the best I've ever had (and I'm a real steak lover). It was cooked perfectly! We felt everything was very reasonably priced for the portion size and quality. We will definitely be returning for another meal soon!

The "restaurant" isnt really a welcoming area. The main restaurant is the same room they use for the buffet breakfast and consists of bare table and chairs simply placed around the room. There is no ambiance at all. The bar area has a few tables scattered in pokey places and then there is a back room, which would be nice if it wasnt at the front door in full view of reception and visitors coming in and out constantly. The food is ok, they say it is all local which is good but having eaten the restaurant and bar (two different menus and prices), both were on a par with any local pub offering lunches. COcktails are nice though.

Visiting family in Co. Fermanghan, we decided to visit Lusty Beg for Sunday lunch. We ordered our food but the waitress seemed distracted and wasn't really listening. We asked what beers they had and she just looked over her shouldered and rhymed off the tap names. We had to get up ourselves and look behind the bar to discover that they had craft beers she never bothered to tell us about. When it came to the food coming out she forgot some of our order. We inquired where it was and she never apologised just went back to the kitchen to place the order then. We were finished the rest of our food by the time some chips came out. She had still forgotten another portion. When she was told it was OK we don't want them now (as it was too late, we had finished), she never apologised for her mistakes but merely said "Is that alright?". The chips were overcooked and bitter. Pate was very greasy and runny. Chowder appeared to be watered down with milk to make portions go further. The service was very poor. Staff seemed very disinterested, distracted and argumentative when we complained. We have visited before and were disappointed some years ago but after this experience we definitely won't be back.

The location and it's surroundings are absolutely beautiful and the venue itself also lovely. Both the welcoming drink, the starter and the dessert were delicious and very tasty. The only fault was with the main course which wasn't presented well and both poultry, meat and vegetables were overcooked, possibly kept heated while waiting for the large party to get seated and finish their starter. I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from using this venue, but perhaps have a small discussion with the kitchen prior to booking of how to avoid similar issues with the main course.Either way we had a wonderful time, thoroughly enjoying the beautiful views over the lake, and the lovely indoors.

I enjoyed the food: the menu is unpretentious, and tries to offer something for everyone. I really enjoyed the Caesar salad, the curry- authentic, and not too hot, also the hake with chorizo. Portions are a good size. I thought it good value. The service was excellent - friendly, established staff were on.

Stayed here recently, breakfast was very good with lots of choice, lunch was pre ordered but arrived a half hour late and although we ordered Caesar salad it arrived minus chicken, this was quickly rectified though, dinner was lovely. I ordered a burger and it was pretty big and very tasty but took an hour an a half to come after I ordered. Very long time to wait but I loved the resort, food and alcohol reasonably priced and the bar and restaurant very comfortable and has amazing views. Would definitely return regardless of the slow service. Think this may be due to having a wedding there that day. Highly recommend.

This is without doubt Paradise Island. The small ferry boat is always available to bring cars to the island and there is no charge. Immediately you land you will be struck by the cleanliness of the island and the scenery. The various types of accommodation are in pristine condition and the Spa and swimming pool are five star as are the other health facilities available at modest cost and pleasant service. Outdoor pursuits is clearly a major market tool but you don't have to get involved and will equally enjoy just relaxing. The restaurant is a vocal point of the experience where good food is available at modest price and wine is on offer at realistic prices. The adjacent bar is oldie world, quaint and full of character. Daily newspapers are available on the rack but I was disappointed that 'The Irish News', my daily fix wasn't included with 'The Newsletter' and 'Belfast Telegraph' but then you can't please everyone.Breakfast is buffet type and first-class but don't be the last ones in because choice gets scarce as it approaches the 10.30 deadline for stragglers. Overall the food is good, fish is particularly well presented and the curry dishes are definitely five star.

Overall it was pretty good, breakfast, good, dinner very good and lunch was a mixed bag with a couple of quite nice options, however I did also encounter, one of the poorest examples of a ceaser salad I have ever come across. On balance I would eat here again as most of the food is had was pretty good and the view was stunning! You could also have your meal/drinks at the outdoor seating provided by the restraunt, which is great on a sunny day.

Stayed at Lusty Beg recently and decided to have Lunch and Dinner at the restaurant. Can't say we were disappointed, the range on the menu has something that everyone will like and is written in a lovely clear way that speaks to the friendliness of this place and the staff here. The food is all locally sourced and freshly cooked and the portions were just right, hunger from the fresh air was well sated. The surroundings are perfect for everyone, from formal(ish) dining room to casual bar area or outside in the sunshine. I kept smelling a gorgeous smoky aroma and discovered at dinner that it was from the steaks that are grilled perfectly to order. The range of drinks can't be faulted either, something for everyone. We did try the signature Lusty Lady cocktails just a few times to ensure they were great, would've been rude not to.

We visited the island as day trippers, taking advantage of the free ferry service, where non-residents can travel as foot passengers. The resort is really well finished, with a choice of accommodation, & paved pathways. The traditional bar is welcoming & the staff are friendly. My one gripe would be that £5 for 4 chicken wings is excessive, but they were tasty. Mingling with the wedding guests, were two men in wetsuits, who had popped in to wet their whistles. Everyone was welcome. The venue is charming & well equipped. When the sun shines, it's like a little bit of heaven. Even if you don't stay here, it's definitely worth popping over for some refreshments.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of March, courtesy of our son who treated us with a Groupon deal - 2 nights bed and breakfast with a free bottle of wine or Prosecco. Well we throughly enjoyed our stay though I could not book into The Spa which was fully booked we had lovely meals but when I gave them the voucher and asked for a bottle of Prosecco that is not what I was served. There was no Prosecco label on the bottle, it was not nice and when I queried it with the waiter he admitted it was not Prosecco but what Lusty Beg offered as the next thing below Prosecco. As I did not want to embarass anyone I did not say anything but was advised by a friend afterwards that I should have insisted on being served with Prosecco, this was false advertising! So beware if you are going there - make sure you get what is being advertised, do nit accept a cheap nasty alternative. This spoilt a lovely break away.4

I would say that it wouldn't take much training to make this above average. I do find that it's the little things that make a big difference to both service and food quality, the first staff member sorted our drinks with a friendly and well mannered style, other staff, well training would help. Food was good and well presented. My steak was well cooked and as requested, other meals all had complementary remarks on and also well presented. I have read some of the other reviews and think the very negative ones must have been very unlucky or just extremely difficult to please, however the table was not as clean as I'd expect. I don't over rate places as is too easy to forget the really amazing ones but equally three out of five is good and I'd like to have given 3.5 out of five. Thank you for a nice meal and in my opinion not over priced.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently. We dined twice and had breakfast twice over the course of the stay. The dinner menu is quite limited and one should not expect fine dining. On the first night I ordered piri piri chicken starter but although the chicken was extremely tasty it was not piri piri. I could not define the sauce. I ordered ribeye steak for main and had a problem with it. The restaurant supervisor tried to remedy but to no avail. He kindly offered another meal or free wine which I declined. The rest of the meal was fine. I later learned that we were not charged for the mains on our bill and, while unexpected and unasked for, it was a welcome gesture. On the second night starters of pate and ceasar salad were really excellent as was the mains of fresh fish in batter. These dishes were very reasonably priced and very well presented. Side dishes were also excellent. Their wine list is limited but at the top end the wine was excellent and a more keenly priced wine on the second night was also top class for the money. House wine on tap was fine for afters and the Guinness was really good. On both nights two log fires were lit in the lounge and the ambience was very friendly and relaxed. They could maybe invest in some more comfortable seating as most of it is functional. Breakfast on both days was excellent and you had a wide choice from the buffet. Service from the staff was really good overall and we found them pleasant, friendly and helpful. We made use of the spa facilities. The outdoor hot tub is a nice way to relax and was never busy. The facial provided was extremely relaxing and professional and they have a good range of products if you need to replenish your stocks. We stayed in an apartment/room and while comfortable it was extremely dim as the decor was grey. It would be advisable to bring some stuff for snacks during the day. Heating was fine and showers were also up to standard. There is very limited internet access on the island so don't expect to use laptops etc.The island has a very pleasant walk along the lake shore and if the weather was better I may have been tempted to try the canoes. Bring a change of clothes and old runners. I did notice a few trout rising beside the piers but am not sure if fishing is permitted. We travelled to Beleek and the pottery museum and it is worthwhile. Unfortunately the Church of Ireland was closed and we could not see the excellent stained glass. Overall the visit was relaxing, but for adults on their own there is little to do after a day or so. Probably a great place for the kids during the summer. .

Having visited many potential locations for our civil ceremony we still hadn't found what we were looking for, until friends suggested looking at LustyBeg as a potential venue, as soon as we arrived we knew this was where we would have our special day, everything from the spectacular views, to the short boat trip across, and the rustic look of the island, made the place feel so unique. We booked just over a year in advance and visited the island a few times for both meals and to stay for a few nights, each time we were greeted with a warm welcome. All the staff were pleasant and the food was always excellent. On the weekend of our civil partnership we arrived on the Friday along with some of our guests who had travelled from England, Scotland & all over Ireland. We had bar food that night which everyone complimented. Not long after dinner my partner & myself were called through to a meeting with two of the staff from lustybeg (Mark & Flossy) to finalise arrangements for the day to follow. I can't explain how much this short meeting put our minds at ease, nothing seemed to much trouble for them, they went through everything with us, not missing a detail and answered all of our questions. Knowing from this point what truly good hands we were in we could relax and enjoy our Friday with our Family & Friends.Saturday morning arrived, we went for breakfast which was perfect, then had booked into the spa for hair & make up, there was 9 of us in the bridal party for hair & make up. It went so smoothly, the girls at the spa worked quickly and professionally ensuring we were all relaxed and getting the look we wanted. The staff had ensured the room for our ceremony was exactly as we had asked, everything was perfect. Following the ceremony we had prosecco, tea & coffee for the guests, again this all went so smoothly. We had the same guy who played music during our ceremony move to the drinks reception where he set up and played again. Having went with our photographer for photos around the island (no shortage of beautiful places for pictures) we were taken into the function room where speeches took place, followed by our meal, which I cannot fault, each course was out so promptly, no hanging around, the staff were unbelievable, and the food was superb. The turnaround of the room was also very quick, not much time spent in the main bar at all. The day itself went without a hitch in any way. Everyone complimented on the food, staff and location. My partner went clay pigeon shooting with a group of friends & family the following day, which she throughly enjoyed and highly recommends, I spent my time between the pool and the hot tub recovering from the much too tasty cocktails. (Lusty Lady's) A few of our guests enjoyed their time so much that although they were due to check out on the Sunday they booked in for an extra night. We had a meal in the restaurant on Sunday. Again outstanding food and service, all the little extra touches really did make all the difference. Especially as we had Flossy looking after us again that night, we were well looked after. On checking out, the staff had everything ready for us to collect, and it made everything so easy for us.We were really taken care of from beginning to end, i can't recommend the island enough, especially for a wedding. We thank all the staff for their hard work & for going above and beyond our expectations. No doubt we will be back in the near future to experience the charm of this beautiful Island.

My partner and I took a trip here yesterday to measure it up as a potential wedding venue. When we arrived into the bar for lunch, we waited for 20 minutes before I eventually went in search of someone to assist us. In saying that, there was 2 girls at the bar and noticed us but seemed unable to acknowledge us. (they were serving others but all I was looking was someone to explain this and ask us to wait). Finally after me approaching the staff, we got a table, after seeing other parties ordering off a menu we were told this was not available and we could only have the carvery. The meal was okay-ish but certainly if you require anything other than room temp, it was not available. anything I asked the male waiter for, I was told it was unavailable. Also, when we ordered our drinks we were handed them still in the bottle with a glass of ice (even though I asked for my fizzy juice to be in a glass). hen I go for a relaxing meal I don't think it is too much to expect to have my drink poured. After leaving the meal, we asked for a wedding brochure at reception. The staff pointed to a leaflet shelf. Very unhelpful.Beautiful surroundings but atmosphere and staff need improved.
