The Inn on the Tay in Perth & Kinross

We didn’t stay at the Hotel but booked dinner at the Restaurant today by email as visiting from Australia. Quick and friendly response from Fiona and loved the drive from Logierait where we are staying. Restaurant and Bat are located right next to the Tay River and we had a wonderful table taking in the view. Service was excellent and I had the best steak I have ever enjoyed. The four in our party agreed it was a wonderful experience and a shame we are heading south tomorrow.

I ordered the steak and black pudding pie. It was delicious.

Visited the hotel bar - fantastic location by riverside. Good beer selection, plumped for Schiehallion lager from Harvistoun brewery and Ossian Golden Ale from Inveralmond. Dog and walker friendly .

The most beautiful location one can dream of. Sitting by the side of a fast move river surrounded by trees and snow. You can have your meal in total silence admiring and loving nature.

We were on a short break in Perthshire and had an awesome dinner in the restaurant. My steak was cooked to order [perfection] and the entire visit to this Inn was excellent. Had an amazing dinner here on Saturday night - food was delicious (venison carpaccio and the hake were highlights!), atmosphere was great, staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and lovely. We’d love to go back when we’re next in Perth!

It is difficult to write anything original after the many glowing reviews of this lovely old inn. Welcoming staff, great atmosphere, stunning location, wonderful food. My husband particularly enjoyed his starter of Korean pterodactyl wings (not really, but very large chicken!) My highlight was the monkfish, mussels and vegetables in a a Thai broth, super yummy! We would have loved to visit again but sadly, it was closed on our two remaining nights in the area. Ah well, there's always next time. If you are anywhere near you must go but book first or you may be very disappointed.

A warm Perthshire welcome awaits our arrival on an extremely busy Sunday afternoon, when it feels like ‘something’s in the air’ as almost all the numerous dining tables are taken up already, but we’d had a light lunch in anticipation of our booking for dinner tonight. We checked into one of the few rooms, cosy and warm then down to the bar for a beer and catch up with our friends, and to show them the thrilling view over the rapids alongside the hotel, a sound which will later on, lull us to sleep. A great dinner too, with choices such as chicken and haggis pie, scampi and mussels Thai style, and roast beef brisket. Fully sated we settled down back in the bar and had lots of laughs in this very relaxing atmosphere, before calling it a night.

We are just back from 2 nights at The Inn on the Tay and it was super. The staff were amazing, friendly (and plentiful). Great cosy bar with a wide selection of gin/whiskey and beers. Breakfast was variety and tasty and evening meal was superb with a sensible wine list. A couple of dog friendly rooms and the bar is also dog friendly. We will be back.

We stayed at the Inn on the Tay for 1 night on the 6th of September. I had booked this place on the spur of the moment, late at night while staying in terrible accommodation in Edinburgh. We left our awful accommodation behind in the morning and travelled to GrandTully (where the Inn is located) hoping for something better than what we had left, and boy where we not disappointed. The Inn - The Inn was lovely, just off the banks of the River Tay itself. The first thing we noticed was that the staff were warm and welcoming, every single member of staff was very professional, kind and helpful, not a bad word to say about anyone who works there. The Inn has a very nice restaurant which serves great food and the breakfast was really nice too and generously sized. There is a nice size bar and a wonderful outside terrace where it's so relaxing to sit there with a pint of Ossian watching the river flow by. The room! We stayed in Room 2 (The Tay Room) and it was magnificent. It was a very big room with 2 beds, we only used the large double bed which was very comfortable. The room has it's own bathroom with sink, toilet and shower, the room was spotlessly clean with fantastic views of the river Tay, we went to sleep that night listening to the river flowing over the rocks. I will let the pictures of the room do the rest of the talking as it shows just how big and nice the room was, in a nutshell we thought it was flawless. In the 9 days we spent travelling around Scotland (including Edinburgh, Inverness, Fort William) I would say that our 1 night in the Inn on the Tay was our best one and we would love to return there one day soon and use the Inn as a base for a week while exploring the heart of Scotland.

Just ... SUCH a delightful spot! The view, the food, the service: everything! We travelled from the Atholl Palace hotel to the Inn, and it was well worth the journey. Lovely wine + delicious food too. After our meal, we sat outside finishing our wine and soaking up the glorious surrounds. Come for the food, stay for the view: both are fantastic!

We visit here regularly when up here. The welcome never changes and the quality of the food doesn’t either. Consistent and very good always. I am now coeliac but there is always a variety of food available. That said my wife always enjoys the homemade pies available! See you soon!

The Inn on the Tay is by far the BEST place for dining around Kenmore, Pitlochry and Aberfeldy. We spent 4 nights locally and this was the best and most fresh food we have had. Luckily a few locals suggested to pop in and we had an outstanding Sunday lunch including our dog. Surroundings stunning, immaculate condition, outstanding staff, stunning views and fresh food. Our dog also loved it and we will be back!

We had a wonderful meal at The Inn on the Tay - our best during our trip to Scotland. We didn't have a booking but the team made room for us and could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic and arrived quickly - the burgers and the sticky toffee pudding are well worth a try. We would love to return on a brighter day to make use of the outside terrace and beautiful view.
