The Ice House Bar and Restaurant, Portstewart in Coleraine

Some aspects of the meal were lovely. The nachos were great. The chicken was alright, but nothing special.

Good food, attentive staff. Love this restaurant. The Bang Bang Chicken is really good. Can't wait to go again.

Era fácil ver porqué como la comida, el servicio y el entorno no está a la altura del nivel mantenido por costa norte la mayoría de los restaurantes. Mi pareja y yo pedí un bistec cocinado medio raro lo que llegó a nuestras mesas era un corte barata, de difícil, de carne cocida. Muy decepcionante por el precio, ya que este restaurante no tiene los tres campos por el precio de los principales establecimientos locales como la mayoría. Los empleados eran inexpertos, no están bien formados y el personal del bar era desagradable y más familiar. La decoración arriba era Gauche, barato y poco atractiva y claramente patrocinados por un popular marca de Ginebra. Lo mejor de nuestra comida era la vista desde la ventana de arriba. Muy decepcionante, no volveremos.

El Ice House nunca decepciona, de alta calidad, comida local! El pescado es siempre recién capturados y nunca he tenido una mala comida. El personal siempre es amable y servicial, en especial en torno a 6 hora de las naciones Unidas a menudo cuando nos Cram carga de l de pequeños en el rugby y algunos nachos. A veces la espera puede ser un poco largo para comida, pero creo que va a mostrar que hacer su cosa bien aquí. ¡Muy recomendable!

Había 7 de nuestro grupo para cenar aquí en la víspera de año nuevo. Compartimos nachos, pieles de patata y pan de ajo para comenzar. Los nachos en particular eran extremadamente sabroso, fluida que será un montón de salsa de queso, jalepenos, etc. Para platos principales, el rape quería no estaba disponible, así que elegí la merluza especial en su lugar. Fue excelente, sabrosa y presentado en un encantador con un tomate y verduras base. Era mi plato favorito de nuestro grupo (habiendo probado todos los demás es también! ). Otros buenos platos eran el bistec, bacalao y eglefino. 2 del grupo ordenados los platos de pasta pero tampoco estaba buenísimo y las raciones de pasta eran demasiado grandes, lo cual era un poco desagradable. El lugar no estaba muy concurrido, lo que para nosotros porque no era demasiado ruidosa, así que un ambiente relajado y agradable en la que charlar. Si sólo se habían producido el 2 de nosotros, podría haber sido un poco deficiente. En general, tuvimos una velada muy agradable y sin duda volvería a comer aquí de nuevo.

horrible noche! Había traído un amigo de visita de Cambridge. Habíamos reservado allí como en cualquier otro sitio lleno esa noche. nachos ordenados como aperitivo, que eran grasosas y enfermizo. Pedí solla europea. El camarero volvió a explicar lo servían como 2 piezas de pescado y que sólo había 1 pieza izquierda. Estoy de acuerdo con otro trozo de bacalao en su lugar. La comida estaba grasienta y enfermizo. Mis socios comida lo mismo. El ambiente era lo suficientemente agradable pero la comida era terrible!

Mi más reciente viaje a la casa de hielo era menos de una agradable.

Caminamos pasado después decide ir en.parece muy pequeño desde el exterior, pero es grande por dentro.

Visitamos con amigos en un domingo por la tarde. El servicio fue bueno. Comida pasable. El edificio es bastante viejo y necesita una mano de pintura. Pedí un café americano y me dijeron que sólo confirmación. Oh, Dios es un restaurante o una cuchara de grasa. Creo que usted necesita para su casa de hielo de juegos.

Came here with a group of 6 other people. There was not one thing anyone didnt like about their meal. Really lovely food. highly recommend this place!

Went here with a mixed crowd of about 14. We were put in a private room and waited on hand and foot. From the food to the atmosphere there wasn't a single complaint. The fresh fruit strawberry daiquiri seemed to flow all night. Highly recommend.

Popped in for a quick lunch and it was a pleasant surprise!I ordered salmon and my partner pasta.My salmon was perfectly cooked and even though the full meal was not what I could say was traditional (Grilled salmon, homemade wedges, tobacco onions and pepper sauce) it was delicious and good value!

Visiting Portrush with Dad & Uncle & feeling really hungry stopped here to eat and was Really impressed with the friendly waitresses, great sea view & the best cod & chips I've had in ages, Highly Recommended :)

Just home from having a lovely meal in this establishment. The food was 1st class and the staff where very attentive. Will definetly be eating here again.

Had heard good reports from friends about the ice house and I'm glad I gave it a try! The food was beautiful, best meal out I've had in a long time. I also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Only thing was we had to prompt the waitress to take our order as we had been sitting a while, but she was a nice girl, and the food didn't take long so it wasn't the end of the world. Definitely would return.

Great food and lovely view of the harbour. The tobacco onions are a particular favourite with all the family! The pepper chicken and the steaks are great. Wine list a bit disappointing ,but service is excellent and the food is great value!

This pub/restaurant is spacious friendly staff and the food is very good. booking is advised on busy days in the summer. A window table upstairs gives one excellent views out over the sea Bar Mouth and Donegal

Ate in this lovely little place on Friday past- lovely wee bar downstairs then went upstairs for dinner. Food was gorgeous and the staff were lovely will definitely be back when visiting Portstewart again

The Ice house is a small restaurant and feels very cosy and intimate. the choice of food was good and whilst more expensive than many of the other local eateries it is lovely overall in terms of standards and ambiance. Service was good, discrete but attentive. I'd certainly go again for a celebration meal though not really 'family tea out' venue.

When other places want you to wait two hours the ice house is never as busy and I don't know why. The food is as good as the well known haunts and portions and prices are good too. The decor may be a bit shabby getting but if you are after food then give this place a try. Been a few times and it's never disappointed.

Food was of low standard and tasteless. Staff standing around with arms folded. Decor absolutely TERRIBLE. Safe to say i will not be back and would never recommend to family and friends

Even when this restaurant is very busy, staff really attentive and friendly. I take my steak blue and they cook it to perfection. We have tried a lot of things on the menu and never been disappointed, it's always very good.

The food overall was average, service was quite slow and the atmosphere was so so. I had heard some good reports of this restaurant but was a little disappointed when we ate there.

This is the sort of food I want when I go to N. Ireland. Wholesome, rustic and absolutely mounds of the stuff. Steaks are to die for and the fish is locally sourced and wonderful. Right by the sea (you can hear it) and comes with a bit of a 'party atmosphere' - which I should add can get a touch raucous. Don't let that put you off though, I went on a Saturday night.

A group of us visited during the "NW200 week" and were really pleasantly surprised at the great meals we all enjoyed. My chicken and prawns in a chorizo sauce dish was delicious and servings were generous.

The meal we had was very traditional as the menu was not great for choice. Atmosphere very quiet and staff average.

I'm a local in the town and this would be my first preference for eating out. If their is only two of you then ask for a bay window seat - great view. Obviously good food and nice atmosphere.

Went for weekend break with friends weather wasn't great so went in to sizzling sausage in portstewart for dinner staff were helpful and service was quick food was great as was price will be back Norman Marie Jim Gladys

Really impressed with my meal on 6th June. Traditional food served with competence which sounds more simple than it is. It's a bit of s party atmosphere - but hell, what's wrong with that?

Visited this restaurant on Saturday 23rd May 2015. Although it was a Bank holiday the pub was quiet and didn't have the normal buzz about the place. Our table was booked for 9pm as the restaurant was fully booked, however when we arrived at 8pm we were told our table was ready. We wanted to have a drink before our meal so agreed to order our meal downstairs while enjoying a drink. We got the window seat and the table was far from clean!. We sat at this table for about 30 minutes during which time two waitresses came and took our order and escorted us upstairs to the restaurant. Neither of them wiped or cleared the table, they never even noticed.I opted for the Chilli Chicken Penne Pasta - which was delicious, while the hubby went for the pork which was disappointing. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was plonked on the table with no ice bucket - had to ask for one. On the plus side there was 15% discount off food and drinks.We have eaten here most of last summer where the food and atmosphere was terrific, sadly things have changed for the worse this year.

Staff were the best and menu is great, but can be horribly noisy at peak times. Definitely worth a try

Be careful when buying drinks at the bar downstairs I ordered one drink from a foreign guy he short changed me by ten pounds I caught on straight away when I told him I gave him a twenty pound note and not a ten he sort a looked a me funny Went back to the till and got me the rest of my money this guy new what he was doing cos when he gave me my change it was a fiver and some coins all scrunched up with no tenner in it thinking I wouldn't check.

Great meal on Friday night. Ice House was busy but still the quality of the food was excellent. The steaks were great but my fish pie was absolutely delicious. I could have 'licked' the dish, it was soooooo good. Great atmosphere.

Nothing really to fault about this cafe... Service, location, food, coffee, decor... All spot on.... Recommended for a summer day out...

been eating here for years, sometimes for business, sometimes for pleasure, and each and every time its great. my only criticism is the darkness and pub-like atmosphere, its just not to my taste, however the staff are fantastic, the menu has a decent variety, and a very good consistently high quality throughout their food. I highly recommend the nacho starter, they are to die for, and the bang bang chicken is great. also they cater very well for special dietary requirements when requested for.

I have ate here twice and the food is very good. It's good value. It has a nice atmosphere and toiletries in the toilets are a nice touch!

We attended a Christening in Castlerock and then travelled to Ice House for refreshments and a meal. There at least 40 people in our group and the meal was delicious and staff courteous but efficient. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and the baby Florence was suitably impressed.

Visited the Ice House recently. The food was lovely and I can not fault it. However the staff were very very rude. Our group was made to feel very unwelcome and in the way. Even when our order was being taken the way the girl spoke to us was awful. When leaving we paid the bill at the bar and the member of staff did not like having to wait a few minutes for us to sort out the cash and who was paying my card. She actually rolled her eyes. Just for information the Ulster Bank Cash machine was out of order hence why some had to pay by card. I personally won't be back in this place. Good food or not. When you are made to feel like a bother it's not worth it.

We were so fortunate to get a table at the Ice House on a cold windy Saturday night last May. The restaurant was packed to the rafters so we expected a long wait but our meals arrived after only 15 minutes. My friend had an enormous Lamb Chump meal while I ordered Herb-crusted Salmon with a Potato Cake and Prawn Salad. It was a delicious meal and well worth the walk through the cold wind back to our car. It is definitely a great place to dine.

We ate in The Icehouse and it was fantastic. It's our third time eating there, and each occasion has been better than the last. The front of house staff were pleasant and accommodating and showed us to a table right away. There's a nice ambience about the place and you can hear yourself without competing with other voices around you. There's also enough space for those private conversations that you want to have on a quiet night out. The food was exquisite! I had the chicken and beef combo. I had some reservations, not for long. It comes on a bed of champ served as a tower with tobacco onions on top. There's also a little jug of chorizo cream to go over the top. Simply sumptuous. Never has such simplicity been so decadent. This is an understated restaurant, try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

We asked for restaurant recommendation and were directed to ice house. The place is not much to look at from outside - not even menu in window but, we went and all enjoyed super meal and excellent service. Highly recommended.

We called in for a quick drink on a stormy day out.Staff are very friendly and service is good so we stayed for lunch.Menu is pretty simple but food was tasty and of a good standard.There is also 15% off all food and drink in March which was a nice surprise.Will definitely come back

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and has quirky decor. The food is of a very high standard. I was the.re in August 2014 and at that time there weren't any good coffees on the menu and for that reason we didn't stay for desserts. However they did offer complimentary tea and instant coffee. Wouldn't let that put me off going back though. There was a slight problem when the bill came as we were charged for wine we didn't order. This was rectified very politely which is great for customer service.

We ate at the Ice House as we couldn't get in to the Wine Bar in Portrush. Boy, we were lucky! 10 adults 2 children and a baby, we managed to get a table upstairs in The Ice House. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. They were offering 25% off your total food and wine bill. Most of the party ordered off the special lunch menu on the board. Excellent! One other had the stuffed pork fillet which was amazing. The flavours were fabulous. Everything was piping hot and so tasty. A really good Sunday lunch. The bill when it arrived with the discount was unbelievable!! The waiting staff were so nice, so friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. We had a fab day out and will certainly be back at The Ice House. Thanks to all concerned

Having not been in The Ice House for some time (due to a somewhat disappointing meal), we decided to give it a go. We both had chicken bang bang which were served with dips and a substantial side salad. Our sides were piping hot and delicious as was the main course. The service was excellent and our request to be moved to a window seat when it became available was granted! All this and a 25% reduction on our food and drinks bill made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

The Ice House is currently offering a great deal - 25% off your bill including your drinks bill. This has been a challenging winter for restaurants on the north coast. The arrival of Harry's Shack, Amici and Neptune & Prawn in the last year has shaken up the established market and seen the York Hotel going into administration and Jackman & Pye move out of the restaurant business altogether. Other establishments 55 & Tides for example are offering special price 3 course menus and this has no doubt increased the pressure. The Ice House has always offered good service and the staff are great but the food seems to have lost the edge and I'm wondering if the pressure to compete at lower prices is the cause. I studied the menu for much longer than usual because on first, second and third reading there was literally nothing that I wanted to eat. I ended up with a southern fried chicken burger - something I would never usually order. My companion had the fish and chips. Both were just ok, nothing special. I missed the lamb kebab with Greek salad - a staple of the menu for such a long time and the fresh fish selection has all but disappeared. It saddens me to give this restaurant 3 stars because it's always been so good. This won't stop me going back though. I'm hoping that my experience is the consequence of a good restaurant trying to fight its way through a difficult winter and that come the spring and the return of the visitors that this establishment will be able to bring back its usual high standards.

Had read some really good reviews about this place so decided to give it a go. Food was ok but nothing great. One of our party had the sunday lunch which was massive but i think it was more quantity over quality!! Would have preferred less so much went to waste.

What can I say. Food great, service great, atmosphere great! On basic of service as a couple and observing a group being cared for I am now planning a family gathering here.

Booked for a large group for wife's birthday meal Food was excellent I have to say however a slight problem with a steak which was ordered med rare, was first main meal out (there was 20 of us) yet it was the last dish to receive the side dish, the steak was fully cooked through. When brought to attention of staff we were made to feel like it was our fault they had mixed up the steaks when serving. Overall food was really good and great value, this minor incident just left a dampener on things on the service side. And I appreciate large groups can put service under pressure, attitudes just could have been betterWe would probably still return

No longer value for money - like so many others nowadays, I am searching for an eating establishment which gives me a 'main course' price on the menu which includes a side order for all menu choices, I am completely fed up with the 'add ons' which in fairness, only add up to rampant profiteering by the venue, who wants to eat a main course without a side dish?

Eight of us went out for a meal here last night with it being the first time for some of us. From the cocktails to the food not one complaint was raised. The staff were excellent and attentive despite the fact that in the run up to Christmas the place was packed. We just stared at the massive bowl of Nachos that was only supposed to be a starter for one and the smoked salmon was fantastic. The mains were plentiful and really tasty and good sized portions. The bang bang chicken would be highly recommended. No one left disappointed and the cost was very reasonable for the portion size and the quality. Will definitely be going back

Just back from (another) lunch at this place, and the quality, as usual was excellent. Party of 13 landed unannounced and they had our meals out in no time. This time I had the peppered burger, which comes with a side order of french fries, pepper sauce and tobacco onions, and I ate the lot. They're also serving a lovely Belgium beer called Everlee, which is basically rocket fuel in a glass.The atmosphere upstairs is a mix of shabby art gallery, with various screen prints and oil paintings on the wall, which I think are from local artists. The waiting staff are always friendly, and it usually has a good vibe about the place. With winter season openings I'd recommend you call ahead, just to see if it's actually open first, as I wouldn't want you to be disappointed. The quality and standard of the food is always high, and the prices very very reasonable, considering how large the portion sizes are too.If you're in Portstewart, I would highly recommend this venue for a quick drink, lunch or evening meal venue.

Best nachos in the north coast!!! Good friendly atmosphere,well priced and excellent food!! Perfect for a Friday night with a few social drinks.

This restaurant is located on the main street and has a beautiful sea view. We had a very nice dinner here and an amazing Irish coffee. Paul, our waiter, showed us how to make a perfect Irish coffee so we thank him very much for that. It was excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant for their service, friendliness and good food.

We stopped by for a couple of drinks and were very warmly welcomed by the barman. He came over for a chat as he delivered our order, and was very friendly.

A group of us ate here last night. Service was great. We ordered nachos & garlic bread for our starters. They were amazing. Our main courses were equally as nice however, one of the girls sent her bang bang chicken back to be cooked a little more as it was still slightly pink in the middle, on its return it was much better cooked. The cocktails are to die for. Will definitely be back.

First time here since change of management - difference in ambience as definitely more "bar" than "restaurant". Having said that, really good food, friendly helpful staff & good price.

Went to the Ice House Restaurant for dinner with friends. On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table by a very friendly member of staff. There was a nice friendly atmosphere about the place that I felt very welcoming. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced - portions were huge, I would take this into consideration if ordering starters - the nachos are to die for!!! The overall service was very good and the staff were friendly, The only one thing I would have to say is our main course arrived at our table before we had finished our starters. This was only a minor detail and would not deter me from returning very soon.The views over the promenade and harbour are amazing..Highly recommended!!!

Ate here on Sunday night along with our two children, chilli beef pitta was delicious and portion size was very generous, salt and chilli chips were good, the peanut butter cheesecake I had for pudding was amazing Lovely views of the promenade and the seaFantastic value for money, can't wait to return

Great views from this restaurant. I'd say my meal was average. Other members of our group said their food was delicious. Service was slow although it was early and they weren't busy yet. Reasonably priced.

Had a lovely evening sitting at Table 5 with a view out over Portstewart Bay. The food was lovely, the staff were most welcoming and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Cannot fault the Restaurant in anyway. Strongly recommend this venue as a place to visit when in Portstewart. Well Done

I had a meal here with my husband and son last weekend, we hadn't booked but arrived about 5:30 so were given a table upstairs near the window with a fabulous view over Portstewart strand and the Donegal Coast. The service was quick, the food was delicious, piping hot and plentiful - a special mention for the chilli chips, unusual but very tasty. We all agreed that this was one of the best meals we have had recently, surpassing the other longer established eateries in the area. We will definitely return!

Ate with 3 friends midweek. Started off badly as was half empty when we turned up for our booking but still had to wait for them to clear and set us a table. Food made up for it. Had steak and chicken with champ and lovely pepper sauce for main. Asked for medium rare steak and should have asked for rare as was overdone for my preference but was very tender and well seasoned. So much scran that i couldn't clear my plate. Pleased I skipped the starters as was stuffed with just one course! Causeway portions take some beating!! Great casual venue for meet up with friends. Wouldn't pick for a family do. Compliments to the cheery barman who fetched the drinks upstairs with a smile.

After the owner of the Bed and Breakfast (At the Beach) we were staying at recommended this restaurant, we walked down this beautiful mile long pathway carved between the ocean and rocks below and the houses above to get there. Make sure you request one of the tables in front of the windows so you can take in the beautiful view, especially before the sun sets. Great atmosphere, food, and staff! Highly recommend if you're in the area!

This was our third visit to the ice house when staying in Portstewart. There were five of us and we all enjoyed our meal. The service was good and staff friendly. The only problem this time was that the upstairs restaurant was unbearably hot due to the heatwave. I know this is unusual for Portstewart but perhaps drawing the blinds or providing fans would have helped. I don't know how the staff worked under such hot conditions. The views across the harbour and sea are outstanding. Thank you - we will be back!

I have eaten in a few restaurants in Portstewart but The Ice House is No 1 for me! Great service and great food. The bar has a great atmosphere and has that "holiday" feel about it.Love it!

Was recommended this little charming place by a work colleague - it certainly didn't disappoint! We were met by an smiling enthusiastic bar person at the door and within seconds were seated. A great start to the evening got better when offered a jug of water as we were unsure as of what to eat. All staff seemed busy but from what I could see all went about their duties effectively. Food ordered - both steaks cooked to perfection and generous side orders washed down with a delicious bottle of wine. Special praise to the bar person - super service from start to finish. Already looking forward to our next trip to Portstewart and of course another evening in the Ice House.

We ate here in June for 1st time, had a cocktail while waiting which was lush, we had nachos for starter between us 2 and have never tasted nachos like them, big compliment considering I've also had them in cancun, these win hands down. I had steak for mains which was also perfectly cooked to my specification,aims weren't massive so I would recommend starters if u have a big appetite but we left full up and thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely be back.

Showed up here with my bf on a very busy,sunny day. The waitress asked if we had booked which we hadnt. After checking with her manager She then pleasantly took us upstairs right to a window table overlooking the gorgeous ocean and scenery. We then sat down to a two course meal, i had salt n chilli squid for starter, it could have been crispier as it was slightly greasy and didnt have much salt n chilli flavor but still enjoyable, my partner had the garlic n chilli cheese ciabatta which was felicious. He then had a build a burger, the lamb patte was so juicy. I had the chorizo chicken with crispy prawns, was lovely. Also had a lovely cocktail the waitress compliented. All in all the start were very attentive, the food was great and to have a view like we had made it very special. Keep up the good work guys!

Good menu. Food tasted great, and the owner takes pride in his work. The location is right at the end of the promenade, a short walk from the Strand and Wanderin' Heights B&Bs.

Our meals were tasty and well prepared. Good value. Wonderful view if you are seated anywhere near the windows overlooking the harbor. Staff could have been more attentive but we did go away well fed and happy.

Took the family to the ice house as my friend continually went on about how it was the best eating house on the North Coast. Couldn't believe that anywhere could be better than the Wine Bar, how wrong I was!The Ice House has the most ravishing food on offer, amazingly low prices and service that is second to none. From the bar man to the waitresses, food to the views, a truly great night had by all the family. Don't miss out on this hidden gem and make sure you leave enough space for the delicious desserts on offer. Well done to all who keep this ship sailing on the crest of a diners wave.

Joined other members of my family (Sisters, Brother-in-law, Nieces etc) for a family Sunday lunch at the Ice House.Reception on arrival was friendly and relaxed and set the scene for the whole afternoon. The spacious dining area with views of the harbour and bay provided a tranquil backdrop. The food was excellent value for money, the service relaxed, friendly and very helpful and the company tremendous.We weren't rushed in our meal and the staff conveniently handy and tentative when we needed them. Lunch turned into a 4 hour relaxed family afternoon facilitated by the staff.I would highly recommend the Ice house to anyone wanting a chilled dining experience with great food at fantastic value for money.

Had a great meal served by very friendly staff. Luckily we arrived early so we got seats by the window which have amazing views over the Atlantic and Portstewart, great menu and all of the food we ordered was excellent at a very reasonable price. Thoroughly recommended for a great family day out!!

Enjoyed a gorgeous Sunday Roast here. Roast Beef, Mash, Roasties, Cauliflower cheese, Carrots, Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy.All with a bottle of Merlot and great view of the Portstewart sunset. Its now Wednesday and im licking my lips Delicious!

The ice house in Portstewart is now under new management and we decided to try it last week.We were able to book a table which is great as the likes of the Ramore and Harbour Bar, you can't book unless it is for a large party and there can be quite a wait sometimes. We had a starter of Nachos which was plenty for the four of us to share, don't think anyone could manage to eat this by themselves and then eat a main course. The fillet steak was lovely, cooked to perfection and the build a burger was amazing. The sides are also great as there are a few different choices is have never seen anywhere else like chilli and cheese fries (lovely). If you have room for dessert you should go for it. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and attentive. We went on the Monday night and booked to go back again that Friday night and had a great meal on both occasions. we will definately be back.

Visited The Ice House at the end of the Easter break for dinner with visitors from Canada who are in the hospitality business. We were underwhelmed. The dining room seemed "grubby", the staff seemed tired and listless...........we ordered a wine and one of the bottles which arrived at the table was nearly empty! When this was pointed out the waiter was very apologetic but hardly a good impression. The dining room was almost empty so the staff were hardly run off their feet although I got the impression that they were tired after what was probably a very busy easter period. We were not asked if we wanted dessert or coffees and again I had an overwhelming impression that the staff just wanted us out. We asked the staff to order us a taxi, which was quite a long time coming, so when I asked the bar man to check how long the taxi would be I was given a very abrupt and not very helpful answer. The Ice House is not a restaurant I will be rushing back to anytime soon.

My wife and I went to the Ice House tonight for our wedding anniversary. We called in earlier in the week to book a table and when they heard it was our anniversary they reserved us a table overlooking the promenade.The choice and food tonight was excellent, the service was superb. As it was our anniversary they also offered us a free cocktail/drink of our choice. I would not hesitate to recommend the Ice House.

I popped in early evening for a quick bite with a friend. The restaurant has changed management I think recently but the menu remains pretty much the same. The nachos are as excellent as always .. We shared two starters and had a side order. I would recommend if you like nachos definitely try these but be warned they are extremely filling. I think I would have preferred a nicer sauce on the ribs ..it was quite like tomato sauce with some BBQ flavour.. The ribs were fine but I have had nicer sauces. Wine was served chilled. Great location . Recommended. Friendly staff but possibly need more staff. One of the best restaurants in Portstewart. Next time will probably try bang bang chicken and the desserts which are apparently excellent too.

Having spent a week in Portstewart and tried several places to eat I can report that we did not find any restaurant that stood out from the rest, the menus at all were very similar and there appears to be a lack of interest is serving local dishes and produce.The ice house was fine, they fitted us in, after a short wait, despite being very busy. The food was nice, the service good.

Food was promising although it would appear the Chef had a slight mishap with the salt as there was quite an element of salt in one area of the dish (lets hope it was an oversight). However, would have forgiven the salt incident but cannot forgive tardy service even though the place was quiet we were totally ignored after our main meal dishes were collected...no dessert requests.....no drinks etc even after we made obvious signals for attention....had enough after thirty-five mins wait and decided to forego puddings, coffees and cocktails (and extra £20 profit or so to the owner). First time I left a restaurant without tipping in a long long time. Dramatic overhaul of waitressing staff required before I will be back :-(

Went here as a family a little while back and it was lovely. Great food, great portions. If you're in portstewart and looking a restaurant I would give this place a chance :)

Enjoyed a meal here in the evening. Staff were very pleasant and our food was served quickly. Our meals were of a high standard, and reasonably priced, and there was a god selection on the menu. Will be going back for certain .

Decided to go to the ice house for the first time to eat upstairs was a bit cold to begin with but soon heated up! The waiter who served us really couldn't have been any more helpful, we ordered chilli beef, fish & steak in our party the portions were generous & yummy! Good value aswell & the house wines red & white were delish! My only gripe was a couple of the female waitresses weren't really bothered it seemed one kept looking at her phone giggling & going on about Facebook kind of took the professional side away from the other waiter who was so good & helpful! Hope this gets addressed as it's not ideal behaviour around customers eating! But I would def return!

We love going to the Ice House - the food is always fantastic. Love the tobacco onions and the Bang Bang Chicken - the burgers are really good, homemade and really tasty. Loved the chicken noodles too. Its nice to get a window seat and its the first thing we ask! The staff are lovely! Give it a try if you get a chance. Lunchtime menu was pretty extensive, much wider than a normal lunchtime choice, although most of the dishes were only £6.95 - 8.95. Portions are generous. It looks a bit ordinary from the outside but the food and service is excellent. Oh God yes and the black pepper sauce, lol. Don't forget to ask for a serving of black pepper sauce! ( with anything!) :)

Having finished up the semester at University, my class decided to go for a meal and the locals recommended the Ice House. Now, my class is a mix of young and old and this place really caters to both. The food is top notch but the place doesn't take itself too seriously. I always prefer somewhere you can go and relax and really enjoy yourself. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and the service was simply excellent. It doesn't look like much from the outside admittedly but inside it is much bigger and vibrant, and the views are simply extraordinary. Well worth a visit to.
