The Huntsman of Little Wenlock in Telford and Wrekin

Staying local and was recommended here. Went for Sunday roast and was that nice we returned on Wednesday. Lovely food and fantastic staff. Special mention to the young gentleman who went out of his way to walk an older lady to her car. That was a lovely touch to see.

Six of us went for dinner this evening for our teenage daughters birthday. We had sirloin steaks, gammon, haddock and pork belly. The quality, preparation and presentation were all outstanding. The desserts were also amazing, would highly recommend the meringue. The service was welcoming and attentive, professional and nothing too much trouble. Will be going again very soon. Do not normally do reviews, but tonight was quite special.

Food was amazing as always , spoilt for choice... but opted for the Chilli ,was tasty snd plenty of it too . Service was great professional and great ambiance .... Nice warm fires which is always welcome on a freezing day.

I can honestly say this is the worst experience we have had in a very long time! Where do I start? We had booked to have lunch with friends as they had been before and had a good experience. Sadly. This was not the case today. Service was very slow, no acknowledgement when we arrived. Eventually we were shown to a table. The service was very slow which I couldn't understand as it certainly wasn't busy. The meal was mediocre,we asked for some vinegar which arrived eventually but the worst was the drinks we ordered,including a bottle of wine ,which took forever! In fact, we had half eaten our meals by the time it did arrive. No apology, then the waitress spilt the beer over my friends mobile phone! Again, not even an apology!! At no point were we asked if everything was OK. A hugely disappointing experience. Will not be going back.

We are staying 30 mins away and saw the great reviews about this pub…….. Sadly my wife and I have to disagree- we went for a Sunday roast (sharing platter). We ordered 2 cokes-10 mins later we had to remind them to bring it to us (the restaurant only had 2 tables with customers on so hardly busy…… Our food was brought out a few minutes after…… we had to ask for plates - the young waitress said “they are coming” curtly……. As our food was getting colder….. As the staff walked past me if they knocked me once they knocked me a dozen times….. not sure why this was as it was hardly busy and the table behind me was empty…… the beef was slimey- the potatoes felt, looked and tasted like frozen prepared potatoes- the pork was dry- the turkey and Yorkshire pudding was nice- gravy watery……. The staff felt like they didn’t want to be there…… not even the basics of “are you having a nice meal?” On leaving we walked past 3 members of staff without a thank you or goodbye….. So luckily we won’t be returning to this place and as shiny and fresh (or care home as we called it as it looks like it inside) as it looks we would say avoid this place and go find a nice country pub….. Great place to stay! Comfortable room in quiet location. The food was absolutely beautiful. And served piping hot. Staff were very friendly and helpful…. Can’t wait to stay there again!

Well I am a regular at The Huntsman, I love the place so am biased but Christmas time can be tricky for everyone given the demand. I have to say my work colleagues and I had a superb experience tonight in the restaurant. Food was sensational and service was terrific thank you to the team. Coming back tomorrow for lunch lucky me🤭

Christmas lunch with a few work colleagues - food was wonderful and the Huntsman team were great ! Didn't rush us to get seated (even though we were slightly late to do so) or rush us with the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. This was my 2nd visit and definitely not my last. Highly recommend this venue !!

First visit today and definitely not the last, what a great find! Food, menu choice, service, atmosphere all 10/10. Been a while since I enjoyed pub food of this standard.

My disabled wife and I booked a table for a Saturday early evening meal at The Huntsman after a day out. We have not visited for several years and so it made a pleasant change for us to revisit . The car park to the left is well laid out and gives easy access to the main entrance on the left of the building. A modern entrance area with good toilets and then into a rear servery of the bar . to the left is the main dining room whilst a passage to the right leads to the front bar room. We had good table in the dining room provided for us . The service was friendly with a tasting sample offered before I bought a half of Three Tuns Best Bitter. ( One of 4 decent real ales) My wife enjoyed her steak meal and I was pleased with my beef Huntsmans Pie-"although the lid was rather dry and overcooked. It is a pleasant dining room and easy access for visitors and staff means a comfortable eating experience. One area that might cause some problems could be the subdued lighting with wall lighting and small lights on the table.

We stayed overnight and ate in the restaurant. For starters olives & goats cheese and mains of Salmon and Gammon … I’ve got to say it was probably the best Gammon I’ve ever had . The portion size was ample. I did feel the chips were a little dry , but some people like them like that . Breakfast of Salmon & Full English both served to a very high standard. Bedroom was spotless, although the double bed was ‘ small’ which we couldn’t understand why as the room was big ! It’s just placed on the wrong wall . Great Value for money , good service and nice staff

Sunday lunch for birthday. We had starters which were okay. Creamy garlic mushrooms and a goats cheese dish. Not spectacular but not bad. I had beef and my friend had turkey. Beef was a bit tough and overcooked. Roasties hard and salty. Veg was undercooked, not Al dente almost raw and the cauli cheese was soggy. Nice place. Staff were efficient

Spent a lovely evening eating good food before a great nights sleep. Room was very comfortable with water tea and coffee facilities and biscuits. Nice bathroom toiletries provided. Breakfast was amazing too. Staff were both attentive and helpful. Can’t recommend highly enough.

go here for a meal quite often.Menu had changed and was of limited choice.Had the sirloin steak medium. Spent a lovely couple of hours outside the bar enjoying the world go by. The simplicity of a cold Peroni and a plate of their amazing dirty fries on a summers afternoon cannot be underestimated. The staff are always attentive and very efficient providing a great table service.

Pre booked table for meal in the bar area as we were bringing a dog. The food was good. Very well presented and plentiful. Service was less than attentive even though there was ample staff. Their attention was too concentrated on the restaurant area. Would I call again? Possibly.

Amazing food, quick service, me and my girlfriend had a starter, main and two alcoholic drinks each and only came to £60.00 which for the quality of the food was amazing!
