The Hungry Hound in Belfast

Had cod and chips, was not impressed, fish tasted of bleach and was inedible, the chips were a bit greasy and not properly cooked, stood for ages before I was even asked for my order, won't be back.

I can honestly say that this is the best chippy in Belfast if no the whole of ireland.the staff and delivery person are always courteous and friendly.Would definitely be eating there again

I got a delivery from The Hungry Hound, Ormeau Road, approximately one week ago. The service and the food just couldn't have been better. The young lady who took my call, Julie, was exceedingly friendly and helpful. The delivery was very quick, despite the fact that we are 2½ miles away from the establishment. My mummy and I fully agreed, that the chips were undoubtedly the very best we have ever had; crispy on the outside, fully cooked on the inside. I also had a steakette, (or battered burger, as some would call it), a fish and sausages. They were also undoubtedly the best I've ever had. The amount of batter on each was perfect, and cooked to perfection. The sausages were of high quality, too. My mum had battered mushrooms and those awesome chips. She wouldn't normally go for suchlike, but afterwards claimed that she'd definitely be ordering from The Hungry Hound again. Lastly, the price including delivery was very reasonable. I have ordered from local chippies before, and paid way over the odds for much, much less. Keep up the good work, Hungry Hound, Ormeau Road 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Sometime we get a wee carry out from here as a treat and i have to say they are always soooo nice love there garlic dip and chips, chicken dipper meal is the best to me as always.

If I was heading down the road from Carryduff I would probably call in to several other establishments because they are closer. It's a local chippy. Good food. Nothing special. I would go back if I was in the area again.

I have been going to the hungry hound for years now, even though there are 3 fish and chip shops closer to me, great variety of food and really good value for money, the fish is fried to order and there are some really good specials, the burgers are the nicest I have ever had from any takeaway, the staff are really friendly too. Can't understand the previous review from fattyboy as I have never had a bad experience, when you order a single item you get a good scoop of chips so maybe he was referring to the 17 chips with the chicken leg as the "free chips" that other places only give 2 or 3 chips with, however that review would not put me off and I will continue to use the hungry hound as I have done for the past 20 years.

Been here 3 times First time was for fish and chips Pre cut frozen fish and it's just the fish tail Very bad £7,50 with can mushy pies Second time chicken leg with a few chips 17 chips max. Frozen pre cooked chicken No taste chips bad 3rd visit chips pies and sausage. Str8 in to the bin..

Fish was cooked to order, so there was a bit of a wait but it was worth it. The portions were huge and it was cheap enough

Don't be fooled by the little 'container' that the chips are put in because it is overflowing and turns out to contain more chips than you think! The fish (cod) was fresh and wasn't pre-battered and was also quite a large fillet. Overall the Hungry Hound provides great tasting fish and chips for hungry people. Next time I'll probably get a small chips.

I live nearby and would normally associate this place with good chips though everything i normally pass on. I got a single chip today and i was trully DISGUSTING the chips were so soft like they had been sitting about for hours, they were half cooked and the grease was still dripping off them. It was Soo bad that i had to make it my first food review on TI. Its safe to say I wont be back.

Staff are extremely efficient and helpful explaining different orders and combinations. Good value for money and whilst the food isn't perhaps the healthiest it's a great treat. Chicken Strips aka 440 are legendary

The fish suppers out of here are really good, leave you feeling stuffed afterwards. The superchips are good too. If you live local, I would defintiely recommend this place!

Love this place lovely food and great portions. Love their munch box for £3.50 which includes one chicken strip one sausage two onion rings chips and small tub of curry plus a small drink - can never finish it

I rated this 1 out of 5 but only because I can't give zero. Where do I start? Absolute shambles. Ordered lunch for myself and my work colleagues so there was about 7 or 8 different orders coming to about £45. You would think a local business would be delighted and would do their best for the possibility of future custom. Well I would rather starve than go back there. Every single order bar one was wrong. Asked for curry chips and chips without vinegar etc but they didn't get it right. One order came with a drink so i wanted to check what drink they wanted and the girl said 'well your getting coke'.. The receipt may aswell have been written in Latin because the words didn't make sense to what we ordered so it was a nightmare trying to decide what everyone owed. I phoned back to check what the receipt meant and the person who answered had the attitude of 10 year old who had been told to go to the naughty step. Everyone was disappointed. We get food every Friday and this could be been a regular thing but we all think we wouldn't bother this fast food outlet again. The didn't need the hassle. If value your unsanity they I wouldn't go near it.Curry was nice though

I've eaten from Hungry hound a dozen times and have learned not to get anything but chips, the rest is garbage. I've tried so many other things.. they ain't good. But the chips are very good.. as well as the pepper sauce and gravy. So I will always be back for those with a hangover.

Fish is freshly dipped and battered in front of you. Might take a while longer but definitely worth waiting for. Portions are also very generous!

Yip - great fish and chip shop. Before I became vegetarian I frequented Hungry Hound 2 for their smoked cod and chips - delicious. I still do frequent it for the moorish chips and garlic mayo. Greasy, tasty scrumptious grub.

When you see a que out the door something good is going on!. Most evenings this is the case and it's nothing to do with slow service., it's all to do with the excellent food being served. Delicious fish and chips or burgers, well done The Hound
