The Horn in St Albans

Very good service but security are far too jobsworthy which makes you feel too tense when walking through the door. A change in security contract would make it one of the best bars in St Albans.

Watched the legend that is Steve Mason here. Food incredible, service incredible and an amazing performance. Will be back.

The horn is a nice pub, the venue on the other hand is not very friendly to small bands who don't have much of a following yet.

Great music venue and pub combo, good beers and drinks selection, and a go to for good night's out, tribute bands and the up & coming artists! What's not to like.

Great pub near the st albans station . They do have some good food and lots of options for drinks . They do have vegetarian choices too .

Good pub that does live music. We went on a ‘barrioke’ night. Barry from east Enders doing karaoke. Very surreal. They have a back room that can be closed off for music events . The gents urinals are a bit different too!

Great grass roots venue and seen many a band here. Midweek slots need better promotion and earlier stage times though. Been a staple of local music scene for a very long time.

Epic St Albans venue with good beer and live music

I bought 2 Heineken beers last night..Told the barmen that they tasted funny, he replied me that is Heineken silver and not offer us different beers..We didn’t know that and bought 2 different beers because we couldn’t drink them because of the taste..I work in a bar myself and if someone doesn’t like the drink they order I normally and directly offer a refund or other drinks ..Disappointed with the service

The Horn in St Albans is a great place, specifically for live music. No food on a Sunday but there's an open mic night on that day. It's been there a long time, and I first played music there in 1996. A great place to eat, drink and play pool. Friendly and helpful staff and centrally located in St Albans. A five minute walk from the the train station. Easy access to the park and Abbey. For the last two years, I have held a Concert For Ukraine at The Horn to raise money for my friends charity, who are on the front line providing provisions but basically hot meals and water. Luke who manages The Horn is a gentleman and top man.

Great night with friends - was able to forget about the sulky bar man that couldn’t take a tip/advice since not everyone likes to pay for a mixer/ bottle and at least likes to be given the bottle they have just bought. I queried if it was from the tap and not a bottle (since it was mixer prices ) he replied It was a bottle and I just poured it in. So I explained that the mixer is exactly that a bottle you can mix to how you like it. Do Not think he could take it - on later returning to the bar I approached the sulky lad and said I apologised if I had upset or offended him since that was not my intention ( just wanted to mix my own large G&T to my taste not a lot to ask at £7.80) but to my surprise he started to slate me for being impatient - when I had waited patiently for a drink while others were being served that were directly in front of the tenders ( there was two on) other people had joined that area while I was at the corner waiting - so I decided to say something to the young barman that I was waiting to be served when he was ready - he didn’t hear me and another person within the bar must of noticed me being either ignored or not heard and called out on my behalf. I didn’t even realise he had taken offence but obviously he had - well anyway while standing there listening to him rant on about me and my patience in a bit of a confused mindset I had to bring him back to reality since this had nothing to do with what we were talking about my apology or the mixer. His reply “I have worked Loads of places and have lots of experience” I replied with I “would like to know where”. Seriously - Anyone that talks to a customer like that should be retrained, since I have been in hospitality for many many years and would be embarrassed to have staff unable to take constructive criticism . He was young and has a Great deal to learn being behind a bar - I wonder would I have been treated differently had I been a big beefy guy - instead of an older women that appeared to be on her own! Imagine how much trouble that could have caused - so retrain him please it could be a very costly mistake he was simply Rude - I could accept it more if they were busy ! ……….

It's a great pub near to the train/bus station. Lovely modern deco. Served by friendly staff. This pub is also a well-known music venue established in 1974 with some of the best-known bands playing here.

Firstly, great music venue. I've seen some crackin bands here. Second THE KITCHENS OPEN AGAIN! The food is epic and the new menu is so good. Popped in for lunch and had the Thai pork belly burger from this week's specials menu. Juicy and flavour was spot on. Highly recommend you check it out

Criminally over priced loaded fries. Hoped for much more than a side sized portion for £15 and expected much better quality for your flagship menu item, especially when compared to the plain cheesey chips portion sold for £5. A small portion of chips, some squirty cheese and some warmed up pre-made pulled pork should not be considered a house speciality. Rest of the pub is great.

Staff were friendly, pub/venue very nice! Went to see a live performance and the evening was amazing! Definitely would come again.

I’ve been here more times than I can count. Sometimes to watch bands, other times to play with my own bands. This is without doubt the best live music venue for miles around. There’s a mix of free entry gigs and ticketed ones, with occasional shows from well-known acts such as Wheatus, Space, and popular comedians. If you want to watch live music, surrounded by like-minded fans, this is the place to be.

The queue to get into the music bit was a joke. 40 minutes The room is too small. There are too many tickets sold . It’s too quiet . You can’t see a thing. THERE IS NO BAR IN THE MUSIC VENUE. All in . No thanks

It's OK small and busy. It's great if you are into rock music etc as live bands play in the back.

Been a customer for coming up 50 years! Sadly no beer (hand pumped ale) for 4 consecutive Fridays, no bottled London Pride either. Not everyone wants lager. Staff are enthusiastic but inexperienced..and now the pub web domain is suspended so we can't access the web site for gig information? What is going on?

The horn is great but the bar staff will sometimes choose other people over you in regards to taking orders. I wouldnt say the price of their alcohol is fairly priced too, but damn do they do some great live events!

Great night out watching China Crisis. Only a small thing but a thing, no bar open in the room and had to leave and queue at main public bar.

Great Pub and music venue, 2 minutes walk from the train Station in the historic city of St Albans. Really friendly vibe, great staff and a fantastic choice of beers and spirits. Small, intimate music venue with bands on throughout the week. Some cover bands and up and coming acts. It's been a venue since the mid 70's so that speaks for itself. Get along there if you possibly can, support local small venues and music acts. Tremendous

Lively trendy venue, proper entertainment vibe with live bands and great music always at the forefront. Busy but friendly bar area filled with likeminded people all out for enjoyment and no hassle. Probably could do with more toilets but that’s a minor when the banter in the queue for pee adds to the evenings charm. Good beer, good music, good crowd. Get down there and let your hair down.

Quick service, great food and open late.

One of the best venues in the area for small to medium sized bands. Friendly staff and always have good line ups. When bands aren't playing, the weekly pub quiz is a lot of fun too. Drinks aren't too expensive, there's always decent people and a fun atmosphere. Lastly, the urinals in the men's toilets are quality. Check this place out for them alone!

My husband and I met at this venue in the 70s. It hasn't changed much. Still a great place to see a live band.

Haven’t been to a venue this place hosts, yet it is great as a pub. Has small outside seating area, a slightly pricey yet very tasty beers. Especially Guinness is top notch here!

Visited the Horn last night (first time) to watch Special kind of Madness. Had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good selection of drinks. Definitely will be back to watch other bands.

Love this place. Just the right amount of boozer and the best place for live music round here. Before covid I regularly made the trip from Welwyn and chose it for my first out out night since the apocalypse. Never disappoints
