Good place for lunch. Wide choice of menu and reasonable prices. Gluten Free is available and each time I go the food is good quality. Highly recommend it

Had a lovely lunch here and tried something off the specials board. It was beautifully cooked and presented but most of all delicious. The staff were professional and friendly a winning combination. The whole experience was a delight, well worth travelling from Bolton for. Oh and the company was great too!

Second time visiting and again the food was amazing! Real home made food, comforting and great quality. Highly recommend. Good menu covering all needs including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.

We hired the function room to celebrate a 90th birthday. The staff were all very welcoming, pleasant and willing to help. Ths food was delicious, generously portioned and of good quality and served hot to each of us. We really enjoyed our time there and will be returning!

Held a surprise party for a group of 30 guests. The staff were great, very attentive and helpful with anything we asked of them. Room was the perfect size for our party and we were allowed to decorate ourselves. Buffet was excellent - we had a selection of hot and cold food, the hot pot was delicious. Plenty left over and they even supplied boxes for us to take the food home in. All in all a lovely afternoon.

My wife and I went for a semi regular lunch today (28/01/24). We ordered our starters which were delicious. We both ordered steaks for our mains, mine being a medium/ well and my wifey Elaine, a medium/rare. Both our meals arrived as ordered. After about 5 minutes i noticed my wife was struggling to cut her steak easily, it seemed quite tough. I assisted and we cut her steak horizontally right through and thus discovered that it was, internally quite fatty. Not a problem and she ate her full( i had loaded her plate with my peas and mushrooms). Afterwards the server asked us if everything was ok and my wife replied, this is not a criticism, but my steak was a bit fatty, but it wasn't a problem and we had thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Long story over, they removed the whole price of my wifes meal from our bill. I protested that was not our intention but they insisted. When i paid the bill, i gave a tip that covered the price of my wifes meal and a bit extra for the server. The point of this review is to say thank you for the absolute professionalism that your establishment showed. We have had many meals with you over the past couple of years. including my sons engagement lunch and we will continue to do so. I only wish you were closer to us so that we didn't have to get a taxi there. Thank you Paul and Elaine Winterbottom. 6 STARS

Fantastic food and service. Clean plates all round. 3 Roast dinners,1gammon,,1 beef,1 lamb. Didnt scrimp on the meat. Sizzler was a huge portion and delicious. 3 yummy burgers and a cheesy bean jacket. We'll done Hinds Head.

Went to the Hinds Head for lunch the other day and had an excellent Hunters Chicken prepared in their kitchen which was not ping food. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I will be going again soon. Thank you for a pleasant lunch.

Party of 5 seated for lunch -apprx 1 pm without booking - no fuss with drinks ,meals or desserts and coffees all hot and good .No complaints. We would certainly go again.

We had a meal here for my husband's birthday. As always the food was delicious. The meals are freshly cooked and beautifully presented. The environment is always very welcoming and the service is first class. There were 3 of us. I had fish and chips, ,my husband had chicken with rice and our friend had steak. Not a crumb was left. For desserts we had the cheesecake which is always good quality. The prices are very reasonable and it is always a pleasure to dine here when so many other places are poor. To be highly recommended.

This pub is definitely NOT dog friendly. Just got turned away!

My self and friends have Been going to the hinds head for about 6 year now On a Thursday 21st December we had booked for Christmas dinner for 11 food was excellent service was amazing all staff are so polite friendly and nothing is any trouble for them at all , also my self and my husband took 3 friends in on Boxing Day food as alway great staff excellent

We had a family meal of 37 . Food and service were first class. Thank you! The communication with the pub prior to the booking date was Very efficient and their response was always timely to my questions.

We nipped in for a cheeky pub lunch. They managed to squeeze the two of us in . The service was friendly and quick. The food was delicious we had flatbreads and sandwiches. Guinness was a nice pint. So I had two.

Never had a poor meal here. We had Sunday lunch today and it was magnificent. The food quality is first class and the service is excellent. You are made to feel so welcome. There is great choice on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere and environment are lovely and portion sizes are generous. We had one roast dinner (beef), one tandoori chicken with rice and one sizzler. For starters we had the Greek meze and for dessert we had salted caramel cheesecake and it was all delicious. To be highly recommended for a good meal in nice surroundings with superb service.

Back from our holiday in England I just have to say that, after a long journey from Cologne in our mobile home, walking into the Hinds Head was just about as close to Heaven as I'm ever going to get! The pub itself, so warm and cosy, the smell of their wonderful food, the welcoming staff - I wish I could put it into a bottle for a bad day! The food was heavenly too, especially the roast. DISAPPOINTING AND TOTALLY OVERPRICED!!! Read reviews on The Hinds Head so we gave it a go. How extremely disappointing!!! We ordered home made fish finger sandwiches on brown bloomer bread and a side portion of chips. The meals arrived on thin dry brown bread the piece of fish was one small piece cut in half. Hardly any fish in the sandwich charged a disgraceful £9.25!!! The portion of chips consisted of no more than 10 chips charged at £3.25!!! Who on earth set these ridiculous prices for such small portions and very poor quality food??? The salad was dry/old covered in a tasteless dressing. When questioned a member of staff I was told the bread was bloomer bread. Total rubbish it was a thin cheap loaf of brown standard bread. I dropped my knife. Bent down to pick it up. The smell from the carpet stank of sick!!! No way was this value for money. We will not be returning.

We called in for tea and the food was excellent. I had the tandoori skewers which melt in your mouth and my husband had the gammon & pineapple which was equally tasty. The service was brilliant too, Sam was great, looked after us from start to finish, lovely guy.

Decided to call in after passing it several times but never going in. Standard pub with large seating area for food. Good menue with lots of options including specials. Busy at the time of visiting which is a good sign. Food was good not bad but not amazing average pub food which worked. Only small down side is the carpark is pitch black in places and in poor weather visibility was very poor. It does require some sort of lighting. On the whole good place.

Very disappointed with our recent visit for Sunday roast. Used this place for years and never had a bad experience. The Sunday roasts have always been amazing but this one was below their usual standard. The gravy was like water, usually it’s really thick and just like homemade. That was a real let down. I like veg undercooked but cauliflower was so hard I couldn’t get the knife through it. Roast potatoes were barely roasted at all. It was embarrassing as I’d raved about the Sunday roasts to the people I was with. Maybe a one off blip but has definitely put me off going again.

Met a friend for lunch, picked it for it’s convenient location and no stress parking and we were very pleased with our choice as it was absolutely fabulous. From very attentive staff to the excellent food choice. If I had to find fault, it was the massive portions, told the team they could cut it down by half! Will definitely go again.

Really nice pub grub. Had the steak and peppercorn baguette and it was lovely and hot and the steak was lovely. Not a bit of grissle in sight. My son had chicken nuggets and chips and it was proper chicken chunks and plenty of chips brilliant portions. Would definitely revisit.

Had a family event on 26/8/23 in the conservatory area, catering for 34 people. Lovely beer garden spoiled by unruly children. Parents let them run wild. The one cask ale they sell isn't for sale over half of the occasions I've visited for the past few years. This used to be my local and I keep checking in every few months in the hope things have improved but it seems to be getting worse.

We decided to hold our brother’s wake here and we could not have been happier with our choice. The staff were so attentive, we had more guests than anticipated and the staff quickly bought out more food to ensure we didn’t run out. Service was quick, the pub itself is lovely. We hosted a wake at this venue for my beautiful brother. From start to finish, the staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive and thoughtful. They made sure everything was perfect, and came to work early to set up photos and flowers. I really couldn't have chosen a better place for the wake, and the staff enabled us to have a beautiful day remembering my brother. Food,staff and atmosphere absolutely fantastic however seating area outside is not the greatest for eating. Raised benches are really nice but a bit too high and the rest of the tables are too low and uncomfortable without any back rests. Inside the pub is lovely and welcoming 😍 Dog friendly outside

I've been a customer over 15 years; had many meals, nights out & function hires with catering - so this is an honest review. I had a meal today (April '23) and actually felt unwell afterwards. The food was terrible, the service was all over the show & the pub looks run down. It was tired, dirty and just lacked attention to detail with no atmosphere. It is like it has lost it's passion and is just existing. I would say it shows as was empty in the restaurant around evening meal time, and in general after a warm(ish) day. Used to be booming! Everywhere looked unloved; broken bunting hung, muddy grass, barriers up, no table tea lights, plantpots filled with cig dimps. Inside there was no background music in the restaurant area, scratched tables, food splashed up lamps, blue tac sticking the wait sign together. I'll leave it there on the inspection, as I'm not Alex Polizzi - but you get the idea! Back to the food. There were different printed versions of the menu, staff unclear on offerings & untrained (we are always big tippers as I work in Hospitality and eat everywhere from greasy spoons to 5* restaurants, we get everyone has to start somewhere - but basic training is a must). For the prices charged I can see why custom has dropped off. My partner ordered steak, medium cooked. The plate was 'dripping' and was offputting. Chips were OK, but seemed frozen. The sauce was a good consistency but gave him an 'upset stomach' - he normally has the constitution of an ox, literally! My curry consisted of pitta bread, with hard rice and a jar of Pataks sauce. I will say the chicken was nicely cooked! We ended up paying for our wine as was told this wasn't in the Wednesday 'deal' after a mix up, wasn't bothered, but the bottle that came out additional was like vinegar. We don't normally do 'deals' but it seemed to good to be true, it was. We paid the bill as we are British & I don't like awkwardness, but won't be returning. I'm leaving this review as this was a great pub with few left for local people & hoping the team take on honest feedback. If you hit a down, tour round the competition for inspiration. The Midway is a similar price point and the food isn't mind blowing on taste, but the service is spot on and it runs like clockwork. My personal opinion is to leave out the food for now and relaunch when the basics are back in hand. Maybe time for a fresh start? It just needs 'something'.
