A nice quiet Wetherspoons. Clean and tidy. Service had a lot to be desired. I was the only one waiting at the bar to be served. Five members of staff behind the bar. One putting glasses away. Two chatting with each other and the other two casually walking around. Took 5 minutes to get served even with the staff looking at me a couple of times. Not impressed.

Second chip I put in my mouth was still frozen, half of my chips were cooked, half were frozen, like just out the bag and onto my plate! Wasn’t even going to think about the chicken. I returned the plate and told the waitress I didn’t appreciate frozen food on my plate. All she could say was sorry. Plenty other eateries around this area. Certainty will not be back!

Husband & I went here on Saturday night for something to eat before the ELO experience @ the KIngs theatre which was great. We both ordered chicken tikka masala as they had ran out of fish, both meals came out cold, my husband asked are we expected to eat cold chicken & the reply was it’s been pre cooked, he took the meals away & said we would get 2 fresh ones, 10 minutes later he came back with the meals, think they were reheated & not fresh, my chicken was hard & was floating in grease not curry sauce 🤮 hardly touched a drop of it apart from the Nan bread as I was hungry, the plates sat on the table for another 2 hours as nobody bothered to come & lift them, was that because they knew we would have complained again???!!! Visited Sunday 13th July. Drinks were brilliantly priced as always, location spot on and nice warm, clean environment. However, I think there must be some sort of staff issue going in. The staff looked like the most unhappiest employees ever. Trapsing around as if the world was ending, sad faces. doing the minimum, at the minimum speed. Tim would not have been happy If I'd been a secret shopper. I think he needs a chat with the Manager. Usually poor staff morale comes from poor leadership. Compared to the spoons in Prestwick, who have the highest rating and happy, smiling, efficient staff, the difference was night and day. I've been to many spoons all over the UK, and this one had by far the most miserable staff. Maybe we just caught them all on an off day, with it being Sunday? We asked one for a large wine glass, and honestly thought it was going to push him over the edge.

Thought we would try Spoons for Sunday Morning breakfast, it was reasonably busy and we decided to order at the bar where staff were friendly and helpful enough so couldnt fault that, the service was quite slow but they did take time to check everything was ok which is not always the case. the coffee which is self serve and refillable was excellent and the full cooked breakfast whilst not outstanting and not hot enough was what I would expect for the price, the only thing I would advise avoiding at all cost is the additionaly priced Haggis, which was worse than disgusting in appearance and totally inedible I can only imagine what the Scots would think if they tried it!

The Hengler's CircusGlasgowManaged by children who are lacking the skills and expertise to do the job.Visited my local Wetherspoons on Saturday morning and wrote to complain as set out below.TO HQ: Dear Sirs.....To provide you with a profile picture, my partner and I have lived approx 1/4 mile from our local JDW for 7 years therefore are well acquainted with the bar and staff, we are both 40 something civil servants.Whilst the reason I am contacting you is the events of Saturday past, there are two prior dates which I expect gave rise to Saturday’s incident, dates which a friend of mine has already contacted you about.I set out below the sequence of events in chronological order for your information.Wednesday July 22 - I met my friends at Henglers at our usual table near the bar. We must have been stood at the table for at least an hour and a half before another friend joined us. An hour or so later, we were asked to move to a table with seating for 4 because we should not have been stood there in a group of more than 2. Having been stood there for over 2 hours, possibly nearer 3, we queried why we'd only learned of the problem long after the fact whereupon the staff member apologised advising that she had only noticed that the group was too big which we accepted as an oversight given that the bar had only opened up again and moved to another table as requested. We thereafter had a look at the social distancing signage around the bar and noted that there was no written guidance re table numbers so he asked a few of the staff about it and it was clear that most had no idea. All in all, we accepted that what had happened was an oversight, we obliged when asked to move to another table and the matter was resolved to everyone's satisfaction, or so we thought.Tuesday July 28th - Stood at our usual table having a chat over a few drinks when the “manager” approached us. Having got to know him over the years, we both initially thought that he was having a joke with us it became clear that he was not. Somewhat abruptly we were approached and asked in a rather accusatory tone "Were you two in here causing trouble last week?". We’d forgotten about the incident and asked what he meant whereupon he reminded us continuing that there would be no nonsense on his watch and that a repeat would see us forcibly removed from the bar. These were not the exact words used but we got the picture and immediately thought that he must have been pulling our legs which promoted us to ask laughingly "Are you for real?" at which he stormed off. In my late teen and early twenties, I managed bars and hotels belonging to my father before I went to University and I would never have spoken to any customer like that never mind two of my regulars, especially not when they were sat enjoying a few drinks, the phrase red flag to a bull comes to mind. We are not the type to cause trouble but that behaviour was highly unprofessional and dished out to the wrong person, could have got him a sore face. If he had something to say, it should have been said the next time that he saw us upon our arrival at the bar, not upon his arrival for a shift when we were sat enjoying ourselves, we certainly did not need our night ruined by being threatened with expulsion from our local pub. Totally unacceptable in my book, I have no idea why he felt it was appropriate to resurrect something that had happened the week before, especially when it had been resolved satisfactorily and put to bed. Saturday 8th August - My partner and I arrived at the bar hoping to have some food on our way out for the afternoon. We were stopped at the door by a female and the words "Are you two not barred?". I could not believe what I was hearing nor could my partner, clearly nor could those sat at tables near the door and a gentleman exiting, all of whom turned and stared at us. How embarrassing, the female clearly knows not the meaning of the word discretion. Whilst she didn't shout, her words were loud enough for all and sundry around us to hear. Keen to defend myself and let everyone know that I was not the type of person who gets barred from a pub, I said "You must be mistaken, I most certainly am not barred" whereupon she continued "Wait here and I will go and ask Sean". Knowing full well that I was not excluded, I let the staff member lead off and followed her to the bar where Sean confirmed that there was no exclusion in place. This prompted me to ask what this was all about and the female said that there had been an incident whereupon she believed that "we" had been barred. Unable to provide any details about any incident, I suggested that there had clearly been some miscommunication and that we should start afresh. At this, I went back to the door and said to my partner loudly "Mistaken identity", this was in a bid to clear our names with all who had taken an interest and contributed to our public humiliation by staring at us when we were stopped the door 2 minutes prior. I fully appreciate that those excluded from bars need challenged when the try to enter again in order to avid any conflict. However, I take exception to your staff member publicly embarrassing my partner and I by speaking at a volume loud enough for all around to hear given that there was no problem with entry in the first place. As you can imagine, my partner was no longer in the mood to venture inside and she said that we should go elsewhere which in the circumstances was all that we could do. That attempted visit was my partner's first visit to a bar since before lockdown therefore not only was she not barred, she wasn't even present on the 22nd July and so was humiliated in public for no reason. This got me to thinking what could possibly have happened for us to be subjected to such an unsavoury welcome on Saturday morning by a staff member who was not involved in the exchange with manager on the 28th or the original circumstances that had led to his behaviour. The only reason that I can come up with is that there has been some "bad chat" spread around the staff which consequently led to my partner and I being disrespected and completely humiliated on Saturday morning. Surely there is no other plausible reason for what happened on Saturday other than misinformation being passed to staff from management, the reason for which I cannot fathom out as a pub full of 40 something professionals would surely be welcomed by JDW in todays climate, no? Why your manager has saw fit to promote special mistreatment of regular customers by resurrecting something which was dead and buried is anyone's guess. I cannot help but feel very hard done by, all I wanted was a snack and a cup of coffee on my way into town yet was publicly embarrassed along with my partner who had nothing to do with any of this, because of loose tongues and mischief. This is not good enough I'm afraid and I am not really sure where we can go from here. I have not been back to the bar since as I am still in total disbelief at the what has happened. Ross was in the wrong behaving as he did and knowing this, he has been telling lies to the staff in a bid to cover up his unprofessional conduct with the result that my partner and I were all but publicly crucified on Saturday.HEAD OFFICE response was that we are barred, what a sham and how bizarre. Be happy to see this idiot and the others that are part of this sorry episode lose their jobs, totally shambolic. I’ve forgotten more about the Licensed Trade than these kids know between them. Other reviews on here illustrate this and funnily enough, complain to HQ and get barred, really?!

Dined here in August with: a plate of pasta Alfredo, small Wiltshire cured ham, egg and chips & a Newcastle Brown Ale (Bottle). I can reccomend this Wetherspoon because is cheap and good to eat in Glasgow.
