Traditional pub with a modern twist. THE go-to pub in Hexham hands down! Fantastic range of ales & wines, incredible food (well priced, great quality) AND 2 open coal fires!! What’s not to like?! Sunday lunches here are to die for !! Manager is super friendly & welcoming as well.

1st visit here. All fine! Would eat here again.

Had a really great evening here as part of a large family group. We had a big table for 12 of us across the back of a lovely cosy room. Great atmosphere, friendly service and good food. The burgers were very good - even got the seal of approval from the very fussy 10-year-old, which is not an easy accolade to earn!

Food was excellent will definitely go back again! My husband and I loved the atmosphere and all that comes with it!

Hor Food choice for lunch time is limited. I was slightly disappointed as was looking forward to it on a day trip to Hexham Service was good though

Excellent pub with great food and vibe and very reasonable prices

Early evening booking, dog welcome, food intolerances catered for, food excellent. Not excessively noisy, but not deathly quiet! Beer went down well, service and timings spot on. Made another reservation for later in the week, which is probably the real verdict.

Dog friendly eatery, lovely fish and chips and a little gem of a restaurant. Recommend trying the bloody Mary ketchup !

Dropped in on the spur of the moment, not really expecting to get a table. They were so helpful and somehow fitted us in between reservations. The food was lovely, the beer was tasty, and everyone was very polite, friendly and helpful.

Amazing food, lovely rural pub vibes and really nice attentive staff. Got a beef and pork dinner as well as some starters and they were 10/10. Would happily travel to Hexham just to have them again. The mulled cider was superb too

Had a fabulous dinner at Heart of Northumberland. After a long day's walking it was the perfect pub for a hearty meal complete with log fire, friendly staff and gorgeous vibe. Would recommend the crispy beef sizzler and sausages and mash.

Good choice of well kept cask beer.

Went here for a meal with the family last night. Service was great, surroundings were cosy, great selection of local foods and wine.

First visit here won't be the last food was excellent quality and generous portions two mussel dishes one gluten free version. Just to let coeliac sufferers know this pub has a very good gluten free menu.

Just WOW. came for Sunday lunch with my hubby an everything was perfect. Meat to die for and the veg just out of this world. Young men behind the bar just a delight, fab all round. Thanks

An excellent Sunday lunch. Delighted to find a restaurant serving a roast dinner with the generous quantity of veg that I would have at home. Red cabbage, cabbage, leeks, peas and carrots. The beef and Yorkshire pudding perfect too. Service was friendly and prompt without being rushed. I had expected it to be a pub but more of a bistro.

Lots of different areas - busy, quiet, courtyard- something for everyone. A quiet voice in Hexham but well worth the try. We will go back.

It was late on the Sunday so it was very quiet. Food was nice and service was warm and friendly. It wasn't a pub I would have thought to head to for dinner but it's clearly had a complete refurb and definitely worth a visit if in Hexham and looking for low key food and a drink.

This place was really busy even for a Monday evening so booking is recommended. The staff were brilliant even helping extensively to get the right food for a lady with allergies on the next table to ours. Our meals were great and reasonably priced

Lovely meal in Hexham, stopped off overnight on way to Scotland. Booked here for tea - lovely food, I had Lebanese chicken Sharwma and partner had mussels, daughter had chicken. Great food and beer in lovely atmosphere, busy but friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly!

Fine but like other venues, drinks are vastly overpriced. Anyone living here full time would likely be unaware of this.

Just a great place to eat and drink, staff were great and great value for money

Had a fantastic beetroot and lentil lasagne with garlic sourdough bread and salad. They fitted us in at short notice, the food and service were amazing, it was so filling we couldn't fit in a dessert and we were pleased we didn't have a starter too.

Worst Sunday lunch ever. Waited so long for veg to arrive after meat, which was almost all gristle,than needed to ask for gravy, waited so long the meal was cold. When mentioned to waitress, she said well, we are busy. Will never go back

I suggested the Heart to friends as we were getting together for a birthday meal .We were told, when booking, that it would have to be 7.30 due to a large party at 7, no problem When we arrived they didn't have our booking! They managed to seat us, though in the bar. We had to wait a long time to order, but the menu ooked great. When the food arrived, we were all disappointed, no taste and so dry. We were in the position that we had waited so long we were starving but were not prepared to pay the value as we couldn't eat it, it was that bad. We were offered 10% off or free drinks, we all left the chicken but ate the sides. I have been here before a few times and loved it, thats why I suggested. I'm hoping it was just an off day!

Usually the fish and chips are fantastic but unfortunately not this time

The food was absolutely amazing, I think the best Sunday lunch I've ever had! Succulent beef, cooked to perfection. The vegetables were crunchy, but not raw and the roast potatoes were delicious. The service was quite slow, bearing in mind not many customers, so that let them down slightly.

Lovely spot with great food. Dog friendly and family friendly. Great for vegetarians and caters well to vegans too.

What a great pub! A real gem and, in my opinion, the best food and beer in Hexham! I particularly recommend the Pennine Pale.

We had the Sunday roast and all enjoyed it immensely. Meat was well cooked, beautifully tender and tasty. Seasonal veg was also cooked just right, sometimes find veg with a little too much crunch or stewed to a pulp. Staff were very pleasant, cheerful and attentive without hovering over you. If we had to criticise anything it would be the position of the outside tables underneath hanging baskets that had recently been watered.

We've visited Heart of Northumberland many times and the service is always good, whether a meal after work or Sunday lunch its all good quality. They keep good beer and we bring our dog along as well.

Dropped into Hexham and found the Heart of Northumberland and we were so glad we did! Really good lunch and a refreshing pint, I had the fish and chips and the boss had the schwarma, both were excellent. Nicely presented pub in the traditional style,...

Excellent food and service. Unfortunately, a fire door was open that caused a cold draft and was asked if it could be shut as the room was cold. Fortunately, we had jackets on as the staff promised to close it but never did. Apparently, it was to serve diners outside? Eventually another diner closed it just before we left. Marred the whole experience. Pity.

If i could give this place more than 5 stars I would. The fish and chips are without doubt The Best Ever. ...and I've discovered a new favourite brew, Timothy Tailor Dark Ale. Nice atmos as well, and the music is from the right decade.

A cosy, warm welcome, friendly, attentive staff and good tunes! Tasty Sunday lunches, large portions with lashings of gravy. We had the slow cooked beef and pork. Desserts were apple crumble and sticky toffee pud with ice cream. Bloomin delicious, can’t fault any of it....

Was looking forward to a nice Sunday roast, but was told food was no longer being served. I arrived at 5:45 on Sunday. We drove 30 minutes for our meal and ended up leaving. The website states that food on Sunday is served till 9pm and there were still menus on the tables. Very disappointing.

Lovely pub with excellent food. The Jack fruit burger was delicious. Really good range of beers on tap. Highly recommend.

You’ll have to book to avoid disappointment but needless to say we got lucky and got a tiny cosy table next to the fire and it was lovely on a cold day. We’ve been here before for other meals but decided let’s go for a Sunday Lunch! We both ordered the Beef as we fancied it, I got the smaller portion but it was enough to last me through the day. Plus we had bread that came from a local bakery as well for starters. I’m not a fan of pickles and red cabbage but I did manage to eat some, so not deducting points for this, I just moved it aside. Service was great from start to finish. Definitely will visit again in the future and will request for the table by the fire.
